Dr. Blum performed an absolutely beautiful wisdom teeth extraction on me. I was a bit nervous, but he mapped out the procedure and explained it to me. Not only smart and talented, but also fun to converse with. He makes you feel very comfortable. He put me to sleep and I woke up status post surgery in little to no pain. I'm 1 day out from my surgery and have little swelling and pain. He also performed my brother's procedure, which also turned out very well! I went in for a routine cleaning as a new patient to this office. They decided on a deep clean. According to all other practices in the area the services I received should have not exceeded $2400. They charged my insurance $4200 and charged me over $1000. I have also had the procedure done a few times in the past and never needed anesthesia. I was told I have to have anesthesia or they would not do the procedure. I refused the treatment and they still charged me for all future procedures. They illegally made me choose between anesthesia and my right to choose or make me pay anyways. I have called and left messages but they refuse to answer and remedy the situation. Additionally, the office manager is very rude and hung up on me. Update: the ~$600 not covered by insurance won't be charged to me. Dr Gil is the most amazing dentist I've ever had. She is super thorough and also does her best to educate everyone around her. She goes and above and beyond, even if it makes her day more hectic and longer. The office is OK, but they can sometimes make small (thankfully so far) mistakes and there is quite high turnover. Dr Gil has restored my faith in dentists and given me hope. I wish more Doctors were like her. read more

If I could give a 0 stars I would. I just contacted their office to inquire about their billing code entries and whether mine was input correctly. I was charged $95 for oral hygiene instructions. Which in simple terms is them saying brush your teeth and floss! The person who picked up my phone call said the insurance covers that coding which they DONT as I was billed for it. When I told the gentleman not to gas light me as I know it's not covered I can see so on my billing breakdown he hung up on me. Also got to my appointment ten minutes earlier than they asked me to be there so 30 minutes before my appointment and I still waited 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment. They seem to be all fresh out of dental school and think they can bill for whatever they feel like without consulting the patient first. Unprofessional will never be back. read more

I have gone to this dentist for about 9 years now. I really like Dr. Gil and she knows her stuff, which is why I stayed so long. The office, however, is not the easiest to work with. My appointment has been rescheduled six times in the last eight. I need a high demand time, so I schedule 6 months in advance. When I have to reschedule, I cannot get the times I need. I tried explaining my issue with the office staff when they called to reschedule and they recommended setting the appointments up ahead of time to get the slot I need, which I have done but then they change it. My last visit involved a crown; they told me that had checked with insurance and set me up on a payment plan for the balance. They later called me and said their estimate was off by over $400 and I would have to double the monthly payment amount because of it. Visits have also begun taking significantly longer than necessary because they are constantly overbooking. My most recent cleaning took over 2.5 hours because of how long I had to wait. Even getting a crown took almost 3 hours even thought the prep took 4 minutes, which I know because they shared it was probably a record. While the dentist is competent and personable, the overall experience has become more and more of a disaster which makes me unwilling to recommend it. I am switching dentists as things are getting worse, not better. read more

I don't know about your dental services but as far as your customer service, it's unprofessional. Two days ago two ladies from the office were delivering goodie bags to promote themselves (which I thought was neat) however, not the candy that was inside. I opened one of the Hershey's and it had mold inside, I thought I give another a try, so I did...well that one was not different, moldy once again. I didn't eat it but, I went on to the others and those had a sour taste to them. I decided to give a call because I thought they needed to know and maybe they could prevent it, maybe they bought it old. This is where this place gets the one star from, the lady's response was so not empathetic, she said, "wow, you're really calling for that!" I said yes, I'm sorry I don't mean to sound mean but it could get someone sick. She said in a sarcastic tone, "well thanks for calling, and have a good day" And, that was the end of it. I really hope your dental services aren't as careless as your customer service. read more

I visited Shawnee Modern Dentistry during the first week they were open. The experience was wonderful! It's always a little scary to visit a dentist but all of the staff made me feel at ease. Booking my appointment was quick and easy. The office is paperless so I was able to fill out all of my info online after booking. This saved so much time when I got to the office. The staff called to confirm my appointment prior to the day of and asked if I had any questions or concerns. The day of the appointment the front office staff was so friendly and helpful. This office is the best all around dentist office I have ever experienced and that's after 50 years of dental problems. From reception and insurance assistance, to all of the staff. Everyone is so kind. It's one thing to be nice to your clients, a whole other level when you are kind to them. I had to have four molars and one other tooth extracted and I was dreading it, took plenty of time off to recover, and said I couldn't go anywhere for Thanksgiving. There was no sedation planned which also scared me. BUT...I couldn't even tell as she was pulling them and I had zero pain. I went home dreading the wearing off of the numbing med. I kept waiting for pain and it seriously never happened! I honestly don't get it!!! I've had wisdom teeth, other teeth pulled over the years and was laid up for days. This is a first. I had a filling and section of my tooth break off and they got me in immediately. They did a very thorough exam, high quality x-rays, and since a filling would not work in that tooth they fixed it with an onlay that looked very nice and felt comfortable. Best dental experience I have ever had.... EVER! From the minute I walked in the door, each and every person I encountered was friendly, professional, and put me at ease. They were SO welcoming, and dare I even say... the staff made my appointment fun (I am pretty sure I was laughing through most of my appointments). Dr. Blum was thorough, answered all of my questions, and took the time to explain all of my different treatment options. I love that they donate to charity water, which makes me feel like I'm personally doing good when choosing to have my treatment completed here. Dr. Billy Turley is the best oral surgeon I have PTSD from a previous dentist so I am very very scared and by him being a man I was sure he would be gentle and he was the best. He took his time to explain the work that I needed done. I choose nitrus gas because I didn't want to be put to sleep and him and the everybody in the room was reassuring and checking on me the entire surgery they really cared. I must say he even wiped my tears. They were awesome. I left the dentist office and misplaced my post op instructions and they were closed and I was panic because there were certain things I had to do the first day. I called the emergency number and they gave me his cell phone number and I called and he answered and talked me through everything that I needed to do the first night and he texted me a written copy of the instructions from his phone were he keeps the entire post op instructions for a week on his phone. I was so thankful and I was truly thankful that he was at home with his family I could hear his kids in the background so I felt bad disturbing him but it was no problem. I have a follow up in a month and my brother is going to see him also. I am going to give him a good rating on all the social media platforms.
