Pasties aka pastes originated in England, made the way into Mexico, and then the US! The lovely owners of this SFV business come from Hidalgo. There are all kinds of savory guisos and many sweet filling options. I ordered some to eat there and some to go. They gave me a free sample of cafe de olla. I ate alone but had a nice chat w the owner and the few other customers. I had one with chicken mole and another with rajas. ( I split a mole verde one with my room mate when I got home too). For the past couple weeks I kept seeing this truck parked on Reseda but could never quite figure out what was being sold, it's not a regular taco truck nor is it a stand, it's a trailer behind a pickup truck. I searched the name on Instagram and came across the pastries being sold that looked like empanadas. I came by the other night and greeted by such a sweet family, a husband and wife with their daughter. They explained how they make these authentic Mexican pastes and bring ingredients straight from Mexico to keep the true and authentic flavors that can't be found here. After listening to the story about the moles and everything being made fresh, I went ahead and ordered a green mole chicken, red mole chicken, and two guava and cheese that came to $14. Unfortunately the savory items were not ready yet so I had to wait about 20 minutes which wasn't an issue for me since I had nowhere else to go, but I do hope they usually have them ready since most people are impatient or just don't like waiting. I took everything to go and enjoyed them at home. I initially wanted to save the sweet pastries for the following day but the savory were so good I ate everything right then and there! The green mole was definitely my favorite of the two moles, it had a more herbal and light flavors. The red was good too, more bold and strong but I just prefer the green. The guava and cheese though were out of this world. You could actually taste how fresh and homemade the guava jam was, and there was plenty of it to fill the pastry but not too much to overpower the cream cheese, enough of both to be in balance. While waiting they also offered me a coffee, cafe de la olla, on the house, and it was perfect! I will happily return. read more

Holy moly what a find! This food truck truly is a hidden gem. I was expecting good, but I definitely got great. Here's a pros and con Pros - the food is ridiculously good. The pastry outside is so darn good and the filling inside depending on what you get is amazing. I got the pepperoni, green mole verde, and strawberry Nutella. All easily delicious - the owners are so kind and nice. The packaging is actually great and they definitely make sure to prep it to go correctly and the service is on point. - The selection is awesome. So many choices to choose from - they got chairs and tables set up with a good ambience outside Cons - It was $20 for 3 of them. It's a reasonable price, but I do wish you could get a deal of some sort for 4. Overall, this place has a killer menu with some absolutely delicious food that will definitely make you wanna come back. I'm actually wanting more now as I write this. read more

The first time that I saw this food truck I was driving and I needed to stop and buy something there. And as I expected, it did not disappoint me they make food fresh, and you would think that it will be something like Starbucks type of thing, but it will be disrespectful to compare them with that. The filling is so good and so seasoned. The crust is crunchy and soft at the same time. The owners and the cook are so nice easy to talk to help you with the order very accommodating, and they always offer me a little bit of café de olla when it's cold. And even though it's a food truck it's a cozy environment because of the staff. I've been here twice already, and every single time they make me wanna come back. read more

We tried the mole verde and chicken tinga. Both were delicious, with the fillings tasting like each actual dish and flaky, yummy pastry. We were given free samples of cafe de olla, which was so good. I can't wait to go back to get a full cup with a chorizo empanada for breakfast. The pickled jalapeños and salsa that came with the empanadas on the side were great too.
