A hidden gem and one of my favorite spots in the valley! Besides the delicious and refreshing yerba mate, the owner is so kind and welcoming! The first time we came, she gave us a run down of the menu, some samples, and, recommendations for flavor combos. I've tried the iced Yerba mate with strawberry + guava as well as with mango + maracuya (passion fruit). The fruit flavors (they use fruit purees!) compliment very nicely with the freshness and slight bitterness to the mate. Such a delicious pick me up on a warm afternoon! A small and cozy cafe, but with tables great for working or chatting. I'll be back for more mate and to try the empandas! Free parking in the lot out front.
Everything positive they say about this place is true. The iced mate + guava puree is my new favorite drink on a hot day. I don't like mate on its own but with fruit it's a smoky complex iced tea that's a delight with the caffeine I need to get my day going. The caffeine from mate feels better than coffee for me--I recommend trying this out if you're used to getting Starbucks or other coffee regularly! They will customize your drink to your liking. Also I love learning and getting a piece of Argentina here in the Valley. You can get that here with empanadas and other snacks. Service is so great that I'm reminded why we support local businesses and reminded what community means. I tip what I can and plan to support by coming back here. A comfy couch area plus tables for studying and working, catching up with friends, eating. And outdoor seating too. Lots of parking bc the Valley. And they have a punch card for frequent visits!

My favorite thing was probably the arabe empanada! We also ordered this slice of cake I forgot what it was called but it was pretty good and not too sweet. They were lovely and handed out flowers for international women's day which was so sweet! The parking is limited fyi. I'm definitely gonna stop by another time!

He said it was well set up as a work space which included places to plug in his laptop. He ordered some food to eat there, but was also ordering food to take to the kids. The owner offered to wait to warm up the kids empanadas and even suggested ones that they might enjoy. She will kept their drinks in the fridge until he was ready to leave. They all enjoyed the food and drinks and we'll head back soon to try other options!
I came here with my dad for a Sunday morning breakfast after getting a recommendation from a friend. This is an Argentinian cafe, and while they do serve food like empanadas, you must come here for the mate. I had tried mate before in premade cans at the grocery store and I had liked it! This however; was much better. We were greeted by the owner, a very friendly bilingual (Spanish/English) woman! She asked about our familiarity with mate and though my father had tried it once prior, I told her I had not but that I was here to try it. She offered us two mate samples and I loved them. The drink itself is a blend of green/black tea and tastes like it. I ordered the traditional mate (served hot!) in its traditional cup + straw as well as a few empanadas for breakfast. Hot Mate 5/5, this was a very lovely hot tea. It came with the herbs set up inside the cup above the strainer, a metal straw that connected to the bottom of the cup for you to drink the mate minus the herbs, and a gigantic thermos of hot water alongside to keep refilling my cup with hot water. If you don't love it being bitter but still want it traditional; I'd suggest not letting the water steep for long, but they also do have sweetener you can use as well as blended mate for lattes or juices. Spinach and cheese empanada 5/5, this was my favorite of the empanadas. I think the spinach:cheese ratio was well done and this was nicely savory for breakfast Caprese empanada 3/5, this one was just okay for me, I think it was a little more cheese heavy than I would have liked, I'd try another flavor the next time I swing by

I've tried a few different Yerba mate flavor combos, and so far the guava has been my favorite. They use real fruit purée as their flavor bases, which is amazing. The owners name is Gaby and she even gave out free pieces of cake to customers for her birthday. Super sweet! Very warm and friendly customer service. Gaby at the counter immediately gave me some Yerba Mate to try. The cuisine and recipes are from Argentina. I tried two empanadas -- the arabe (lemon marinated beef + tomato + onion) and the beef (beef + onion + egg). The consistency of the arabe looks like ground beef, while the inside of the beef empanada looks similar to the inside of a bean burrito. I liked both, with a slight taste preference to the regular beef empanada (beef + onion egg). The coffee named after her, Gaby's Iced Coffee is delicious and the Large is a very big cup, so make sure you see the cup sizes before choosing. read more

This was our second visit, and it lived up to the first. I ordered the Dulce de Leche Latte, really good, nice caramel like sweetness without being overpowering. My husband got the Vanilla Latte and said it was blended well and not too sweet (which is high praise from him). Consistent drinks, friendly enough service. What a cute little family-owned cafe! The owner was so sweet and welcoming and super funny. She offered me a sample of the yerba mate and I did not expect that taste- but it's the good kind of surprise. I got the dulce de leche yerba matte and it was delicious! My boyfriend is a local here and has been here a couple of times and always gets the ham and cheese sandwich. Simple yet delicious. read more

I've been coming here for years now and their coffee and their mate drinks and their food has been very consistent over the years and surprisingly has just gotten better. Their service is exceptional and the owner Gabby is such a darling. Inside there is plenty of seating and they have outlets and Wi-Fi available. read more
For anyone looking for a pick me up and instant mood enhancer, come to Mate Conmigo immediately! The yerba tea not only has various health benefits but the owner (Gabby) makes your experience one to remember and has a great environment. I tried a Yerba tea with almond milk and pumpkin spice puree and it was so delicious. I'm a huge coffee guy but this refreshment was good enough to think twice. The arabe empanada was delicious! This amazing neighborhood gem, located in a busy Northridge strip mall, Mate Conmigo offers incredibly delicious Argenine food and drink and wonderful hospitality in a very calm, comfortable setting. My date and I were craving some empanadas and decided to check out this place on a Saturday afternoon a few hours before closing. Family-owned and operated by Argentine native Gabriela Simoni and her two sons, Mate Conmigo is an incredible experience of simple, delicious goodness all wrapped up in a warm hospitable setting. After parking in one of the several spaces in a busy strip mall, you immediately enter a very cozy, almost Argentine living room-lie feeling, complete with some comfortable couches and coffee tables, tables, chairs, wonderfully bright artwork, inspirational messages and soothing music. Your order at the counter and are met with some great smiles, friendly interactions, and detailed answers to any questions you might have. We decided to try a few empanadas (Chicken, Beef and the Vegan Potato + Broccoli and Cauliflower). Additionally, decided to try the favorite Iced Yerba Mate and a Arollado de Dulce de Leche for dessert. The Iced Yerba Mate (straight up over ice) was refreshing and great-tasting. The empanadas came out in a few minutes on a wooden board. Each one was branded with shorthand indicated which filling was inside. The pastry crust was wonderfully crisp on the edges and baked to perfection. The inside fillings were packed with flavor, each one made layered with different spices and seasonings that were quite unique and delicious. As an added bonus, each was under $3, which is a very good value. The Arollado de Dulce de Leche was a perfect compliment to cleanse the palate for dessert. Freshly rolled, the layers were plenty, filled with a deliciously smooth, sweet and creamy dulce de leche. So good! Mate Conmigo makes you feel like part of the family. It's simple and straightforward. You feel welcome, comfortable and leave with a belly full of homemade goodness. A great experience worth checking out and sharing with loved ones. read more
From the moment I walked into Mate Conmigo, I felt transported like I was somewhere outside the Valley (and I mean that in the best way!). The space has such a cozy, welcoming vibe, but what really sets it apart is the kindness and hospitality of the people who work there. They're genuinely warm and wonderful. This was my first time trying yerba mate, and the woman helping us could not have been sweeter. She was so enthusiastic, explained what it was all about, and even offered samples so we could figure out what we liked. I ended up choosing strawberry and blueberries for my drink, and I could tell when I picked my flavor combo that she might have had an even better suggestion so now I'm already looking forward to going back and trying more! We also ordered their empanadas, which were heated up perfectly. They tasted homemade, fresh, and full of comfort. Between the drinks, the food, and the hospitality, Mate Conmigo is a gem. I have been wanting to check out this cafe for a while. My wife and I had their lavender mate latte and a slice of the ricotta cake to start off. Both were delicious! We talked with the owner, Gabi, and she explained the history of yerba mate and how it is traditionally made. She made us felt like we belonged there. We enjoyed two empanadas (chicken and beef) that were fantastic! The ambiance was great also. It was lively, but it was not too loud. It is a small cafe with about five tables. It is worth going there to support a local business and to enjoy excellent food and drinks. read more
An Argentinian cafe serving food and drinks made with love! Definitely a hidden gem. All the empanadas are buttery with a delicious filling, my favorite being the beef arabe. You can't go wrong with any of the drinks, but they are known for their yerba mate! Can be served hot or cold, and with fruit purée, milk, vanilla or a combination of them! Loved the mango and maracuya (passion fruit combo). classic green tea has long been touted as the best detox beverage and matcha has been gaining traction in recent years among top trending drinks, yerba mate deserves a The Yerba mate has an even higher polyphenol content than regular green tea, and the list of benefits don't end there including morning energy, reducing inflammation, helps with detox, protects your heart. Drink was refreshing and tasted delicious. Empanadas are so tasty get the arabe or the ham and cheese if you are not adventurous. Served hot and was so good. The ambience was very chill and relaxing. I LOVE this place! It's a cute, relaxing place. I've been coming here multiple times a week for more than a year now, and my favorite thing to get is the fruit iced mate. Their puréed fruit always tastes so fresh, and I love grabbing some for my commute to work, before I go to hikes, before I go on long drives, pretty much any excuse I can come up with lol. My boyfriend says the dulce de leche mate is amazing, if that's more your speed. Equally as nice is the staff; Gabby is so funny and friendly, and all of her staff members are super congenial- if you catch Gabby when she has a second to chat, she'll brighten up your day without a doubt read more

Walking into this cafe, you get hit with the delicious smell of the empanadas. The ambience is comforting decorated with couches and small tables. We ordered a few empanadas, Yerba mate and iced coffee. The Yerba mate was light and not too sweet and the ice coffee was refreshing. The empanadas were full of flavor with a semi crunchy crust. The pastries were a nice sweet way to follow up the empanadas. Definitely check out this spot and their cute store inside! read more

Hey Christian, hope you're doing well. Yes we are allowing work/study inside but have very limited spaces (2 tables). We also require you to wear a mask when you're not eating/drinking per LA City Reopening guidelines. Hope to see you soon!
