We needed a gender reveal cake very short notice and Milette's was really accommodating. The presentation was absolutely beautiful; however, the taste was extremely underwhelming. It was mostly bland and buttery frosting. Don't think we'll be ordering another speciality cake from here again. read more

Beautiful place and wonderful staff, they were so patient with me when I was there pitching my idea for the cake that I wanted. The young girl at the counter was so polite and helped me with the whole process though I end up not planning the birthday party but I tell you give this place a chance they will exceed your expectations and you will get compliments on your custom cake. It's a small cute bakery that I would take my business too in future. read more

I recently ordered and received a custom cake for a surprise party for my dad. The details of this cake were amazing!! The shop was wonderful with their communication, and made sure to follow up on the details I gave them for what I wanted on the cake. The flavors were so yummy too! This cake made my dad's party extra special, and he's never going to forget that. Thanks, Milette, for an amazing cake that we'll always remember. read more

I give this place a 5 star wish I could give it a 10 star. I ordered a cake for my husband's birthday it was an oil rig on top of many people know what it is. But they nailed it. I am very proud of the cake. It was everything I wanted and more. I just got chocolate cake with butter creme because I wasn't sure for what flavors were good. But it was a hit at the party. And a week later we are still eating it. It's still moist as the day we got it. I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. read more

The flavors here are amazing. We actually ordered a Quinceñera cake from Milette's but go back for the cupcakes.

This bakery is exceptional! They have tons of fun flavors and different desserts to choose from! My family and I love to visit at least every month; their desserts are scrumptious and delightful! My all-time favorite is definitely the mocha Nutella cupcake. The frosting is just perfect-- not too sweet, not too bland-- and the cake is moist and flavorful. You can really taste the Nutella in the cupcake! The people there are very polite and helpful! They are very kind and efficient, even when there are many orders! And there are so much more than just cupcakes: they offer dipped pretzels, brownies, blondies, cake pops, and many more! They also make custom cakes that are so cute and so delicious! I suggest you try them out for yourself! Visit with your friends and family; they are bound to fall in love with this quaint little shop! Happy eating! read more

I am giving them five star because. Milette, the owner is a wonderful lady, helpful and very nice, I was uncertain of what to order but she gave me idea and even gave me free ones to try. Their mango and ube cupcake are my all time favorite but after trying their brown sugar and ube with Macapuno ensaymada, those were added to my list. Will surely go back for more. read more

Imagine beating the odds of no rain or trains on your wonderful wedding day, only to get a strike out because the bakers forgot to make a cake! Yes that's right folks another downtown Plainfield local business not living up to task. I can't stand these local business pleading for business yet they can't produce an order, & then top it they act like big shots because they got a fancy store front in a little downtown, and can't remedy their fuck up. Avoid this place if you have a time sensitive event as this place is more concern about their Memorial vacation then making sure all their orders are out. read more

I recently did a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish and contacted Milette to see if her company would donate a cake. Not only did she donate, but she donated THREE beautiful, delicious cakes to the cause and allowed for my cost to be lowered in order to donate more back to Make-A-Wish. Thank you so much for your donation and delicious, beautiful cakes! read more

We were in the area today and stopped in to grab a cookie. We got two sugar cookies $8!! I thought they better taste delicious for being that price and they definitely didn't. I'm from LA and me and family visited our friends last month. They ordered a variety of cupcakes for giveaways for my goddaughter's lavish birthday party. They were really proud of this new found cupcake store that they ordered extras for me to try in every flavor. To tell you honestly I tried a lot of cupcakes and I was't really fond of them mainly because I never find that special cupcake that will really win my heart. Most of the cupcakes I've tasted don't have the "oomph" in them. But this one really won my heart. I fell in love with them. There's a lot of cupcake stores here in LA that we have to get in long lines just to buy but there's nothing that special in them and you can simply live without them. For a person who is not a cupcake lover, every time i think of cupcakes this is the one in my mind. Every person have different taste in food. Mine I can say suits this store. My fave is the pistachios! I haven't tried the molten lava one but I hope I get to try them soon. I also tried the red velvet and the mango and the chocolate one. So far I enjoyed eating them :-) I'm so happy that my friend discovered this place. I will definitely visit their store the next time I go and visit them but for now my husband has to buy them for me and bring them home every week! For now you are definitely my favorite cupcakes! read more

Unfortunately we will not be returning. Had high hopes but our order of a dozen cupcakes for my birthday was real disappointing. Every cupcake was very dry and the icing was real thick (felt like eating a stick of butter). Also just a bland taste overall. I gave 2 stars because they were presented very well, fooled us. read more

Milette's Cakes made a spectacular milestone birthday cake for my wife! Not only was it delicious, but it was also exactly what I envisioned when I placed the order. The cake was a stack of three books from her favorite author with the third book title replacing a word from the actual title with my wife's name. Next, the volume number was added for her age. The books looked real! When the top book was removed each book below had a completely decorated book cover to our surprise. The attention to detail was incredible. The cake looked like it could be on one of those tv baking shows. Milette's also delivered the cake to our house and the total cost was very reasonable. Most importantly, the cake tasted as good as it looked. It was the best marble cake, I have ever had and the buttercream icing was equally as delicious. The cake was the the highlight of my wife's birthday. Thank you! read more

Milette's is my absolute favorite cupcake place in Plainfield. I started coming here 2 summers ago after checking out the Plainfield Drive Night and I have had nothing but positive experiences here. As a Filipino-American I was so happy to see some Filipino flavors on their shelf, such as their Ube and Mango cupcakes! I've also had friends eat the cookies and cream and the cupcake with m&m's here and they all really loved them. We decided to come here to buy a 3 tier cake for my Sister's debutante ball and brought a picture for inspiration. The cake was designed even better than the picture! It was a huge hit at the party and the guests couldn't get enough of the chocolate, ube, and vanilla cake! On top of having amazing cakes and cupcakes the service is also top notch and everyone is so friendly! I've converted my whole family into regulars and will probably be coming back tomorrow for more cupcakes! Thank you Milettes! read more

Milette's Cakes - The delicious cake! Ube on the bottom, chocolate in the middle, and Vanilla on top! The guests couldn't get enough! - Cupcakes Near Me - Plainfield, Illinois

My wedding cake tasted good. No problem there..... The problem started the morning of my wedding when they called me around 11am and stated the baker never showed up and they had to alter my order. That turned out ok but not what we wanted/ordered overall. When the cake was delivered I was not available, i was getting dressed, the ceremony started in less than an hour. Cake was put in refrigerator and I did not see it until it was brought out for the first cut/photos with my husband. The cake topper was not attached or even delivered with the cake! When speaking with the bakery employees the week prior they specifically called me to see when I would drop off the cake topper. I asked if they wanted me to keep it at my home and to place it on my cake when at my home the day of. I advised It was a heavy precious moments figurine and I did not want it to break or fall off the cake. She stated no we will make sure its on the cake and secure prior to delivery. I dropped it off 3-4 days prior to my wedding, employee attached it to my paperwork and said there was nothing else i needed to do. Well when it came time to take pictures the figurine was no where to be found! EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED! I emailed Millette and got a response back 2 days later asking if this was taken care of already. I advised her it was not and I wanted the precious moment returned back to me. No reply from millette so I called the bakery again a day and a half later.... Asked for a manager or owner. They do not have a manager i was told. The girl on the phone was less than apologetic. Giggling at times and stated she has no idea what happened because she left for the day before it was delivered. She stated the figurine was there and I could pick it up as well as offering 50.00 refund for the lemon bars that were not available. I was not looking for a refund. I will never have that moment back again with my husband to take those pictures. An apology and less laughing would have been nice but I suppose that's why mistakes are made at this bakery due to the lack of maturity and compassion for ones "Big Day"! I hope anyone else who orders from this bakery is on top of the details until delivery takes place. read more

I love their cupcakes! tasty and not too sweet! Will order a birthday cake for my daughter

We've ordered our cakes from Milette's Cakes even before she had a store front. The design and the taste of her cakes are always on point. Her cakes are always moist and not too sweet. My favorite flavor is the chocolate chips with chunky choco buttercream. She makes the best 3D cakes. read more

This is place is very expensive but I think for the quality you get is worth the price. I've stopped by a few times to pick up ube and mango cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies. This past week I finally ordered an actual cake-ube cake for my dad's bday. The design was simple but described my dad's personality. We ordered a 10in cake and the height was super high. The cake, icing, and real ube filling was amazing!!!! It was super moist and tasty. I will be ordering my next cake there again. Fred, thank you for being patient and kind during the order process. read more

Great cupcakes and magnificently decorated cakes. My favorite is the ube cupcake, hands down!

So delicious! I was watching reruns of cupcakes wars and saw the episode Milette's owner was on and they won, well her bakery was only 20 minutes from me so I decided why not, who doesn't love a good cupcake! Well was I in for a treat! The bakery is lovely and the treats, absolutely scrumptious! I got a half dozen cupcakes that were delicate and not over frosted! Will definitely be going back! read more

Absolutely the perfect surprise for my boyfriend! Their team was so sweet and accommodating for my overly specific and complicated plan but they ran with it and completely blew everyone away! The cake was delicious and very appropriately priced, not to mention perfectly decorated from only a few pictures. Delivery was slightly delayed but the cake and service met every expectation! Very please and highly recommend for the future. read more

Great products! Tasty pastries and the best Buckeyes outside of Ohio! Customer service is a little rough. After calling and not getting connected, we tried to order a cake and inquire online and by email. They finally replied to the email two weeks later, which was after my event, and told me I need to order at least three weeks in advance. Well, that's hard to plan and impossible to do if they don't pick up their phone... Obviously that didn't work out. If you can plan a month in advance and have the patience to try to order, maybe its a great cake - I just don't know. But the items we've walked in and purchased have been delicious! read more

My son's cake was perfect! He had a smile from ear to ear and everyone thought it looked so cool. We got lots of compliments on how good it was, too. The guy who took my order when I went in, seemed to know exactly what I was talking about and made it even better than I was expecting. I highly recommend this bakery. Thank you so much for making my son's birthday even more perfect. read more

Milette's Cakes is not your ordinary bakery. All the cupcake flavors are great! (my personal favorite: chocolate mousse) You can tell that the chocolates they use are first class. The staffs are really accommodating and helpful, especially the owner. As for the cake orders, they definitely know what they are doing! I am amazed with their customized cakes. Definitely coming back for more! And oh, they have the best fudge brownie! make sure to try them. read more

I've been getting cakes from Milette's for quite some time already and they've been doing a superb job! Their cupcakes are also really good! My personal faves are the pistachio raspberry (which, by the way, is one of their winning cupcakes in Cupcake Wars) and mocha nutella. They have really huge brownies, too! Not to mention that their double chocolate cookies are the bomb! Will definitely continue to order from them for all my dessert and cake needs. read more

Beautiful presentation. The layers on the cake were perfectly done. Blue velvet cake. It needed more blue coloring. The cake was dry and tasted stale and the frosting was like dried glue. We will return to Meijer for all of our special occasion cakes. read more

My sister and I planned a 50th birthday party for my mom and came across this bakery. We were having a rose gold themed party and had a very specific cake in mind. After picking up the cake, we realized that the cake was not the exact image and color we pictured (more gold than rose gold). Milette was so kind to offer to take the cake back and change it accordingly and even offered to deliver it to the party for us. Even though the original design of the cake did not meet expectations, Milette truly showed that she puts customer service first and managed to fix the cake on such short notice! The cake came out flawless and was beautiful! The entire party not only complimented the stunning color of the cake, but could not stop raving about how delicious the cake was. Will definitely use this bakery again! Thank you to the entire bakery for helping us pull this party together with such fabulous cake :) read more

Ordered a custom shark cake for our 4 yr old grandson. Was very happy, very good looking and tasting cake! Will be back.

I ordered 2 dozen cupcakes on a Friday for a Sunday pick up, while thankful they were able to fill my order...I almost fell on the floor when I saw the bill. $3.25/ea for plain vanilla or chocolate cupcakes, no filling and plain buttercream frosting. Nothing fancy. They were good but most certainly not worth $3.25 each. We are in Plainfield here NOT Naperville! I could see the cost if this were a sheet cake and decorated but this was not the case. read more

This review is based solely on service, or lack of. I've visited the bakery twice and both times left empty handed because of the poor service I received. The staff (different people each time) acted as if I was doing them a favor by attempting to make a purchase. Shouldn't a business at least make half an effort to service customers with enthusiasm and appreciation? They must have missed that memo. The staff was nonchalant at best and basically told me they couldn't meet my request to order a birthday cake with 48 hours notice. I can understand being booked. But the attitude that they couldn't be bothered to make a 'basic' cake was beyond me. Even when I tested the waters to up the budget, they were suddenly booked. Really???? I promptly took my business elsewhere and ordered a fabulous, 'non-basic' cake that my guests raved over. Even though this bakery is close, I won't bother with them again. A long drive is a small price to pay for courtesy, appreciation, and great service for their customers. read more

My wedding is in September this year and I was really hoping to feature Filipino desserts (I'm half) at our wedding rather than going with a traditional cake. After reading reviews, I was more than happy to make the hour drive from Chicago to Plainfield for a tasting - even though tastings have to be done before 5 pm on Tuesdays. I cleared my calendar at work and scheduled an appointment with Milette for Tuesday, but never heard back despite my repeated attempts for confirmation of our tasting. Tuesday at 1:38 pm (when my tasting was scheduled for 4 pm so only 1.5 hours before I was about to leave to drive to Plainfield) I received a text message from Milette saying she meant to get in touch with me, but that she would need to cancel last minute because she was in Galena, IL for a "last minute" family event. Her last minute family event? Her son's wedding. That should have scared me off, but instead I politely asked to reschedule for a different day based on the days Milette suggested and still have not heard back despite multiple texts and phone calls and voicemails. I cannot believe how unprofessional this woman and her bakery are. I don't care if she won Cupcake Wars and her cupcakes are delicious - if you can't respond to basic requests for your business, your business will eventually fail. I was looking to purchase at least 250 cupcakes and a variety of other desserts, but will take my business elsewhere. If you want to try one of these desserts, buy it from the actual store the day of because ordering ahead of time from Milette herself is completely unreliable. read more

I love love love their red velvet cupcakes. But I recently ordered my mother's 40th birthday cake from here the lady on the phone said it'd be 22 upon arriving I was told my cake would be 40+. I planned the cake with the guy and even texted him a picture of what I wanted. The day before I was supposed to pick up the cake I was called at 8 or 9am and asked to repeat my order detail for detail. They managed to get the cake wrong still. I picked up the cake had a quick glance of it before she shoved it in the box and was on my way. Got home the banner that was supposed to be in the front of the cake wasn't there. Instead they had put happy 40th birthday mom on top of the cake and instead of dispersing purple flowers on the top in different sizes they clumped a little strip to the side of the cake on top. The design was not what I wanted and the flavor was very lacking. My mom ordered the pistachio with raspberry filling and cream cheese frosting. During the call the day before they did ask if it was okay to mix cream cheese and butter cream to stiffen the frosting and promised it'd still taste like cream cheese. It didn't. The frosting wasn't sweet , but bland and didn't taste like cream cheese or butter cream again very bland. The pistachio cake didn't taste like pistachio at all. My mom forced herself to eat the cake and smile through it but even I didn't finish my slice. For 46$ I could have gone to whole foods and got a better tasting cake with the right decorations. I'll never order a cake from here again. And they weren't open today for some odd reason and had zero signs to let you know you were closed (I was here at 2:38). The only thing I like from here is the red velvet. Buyer beware look at the cake and ask for a taste test before purchasing a semi expensive cake! I wish I could've taken a picture of the cake there was no time though! Btw the pistachio looked more of a dyed green then it tasted of pisachico I've ever tasted. I couldn't even taste the pistachio unless I held my breath and forced myself to differentiate the preserve from cake. read more
