Whipped peanut butter on a brownie
    Jaclyn W.

I came here for the first time today. I wanted to try their paczkis but they stopped selling them a few weeks ago. The girl at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The store had nobody in it, so it was easy to order. I got this round small bunny cake slice. The inside was vanilla cake with buttercream and was really good. It was not overly sweet and I definitely would get it again. It was such a cute design! The second thing I tried, was the brownie with peanut butter whipped cream on top. This was pretty good, I did like the bunny cake slice better. This brownie was not overly sweet either, which I do appreciate. Both items came out to be $5.81 so I thought that was a great deal. The bakery is definitely old-fashioned and you can tell it's been here many many years. They have a big parking lot and I do recommend giving them a try. They do close at 1 PM weekdays but they open as early as 5:30 in the morning. I would return if I am in the area again.

    Birthday cake

I ordered a birthday cake for a special birthday and it was so beautiful! Everyone loved the detailed wildflowers on it, and it tasted delicious too! The price was also very reasonable. Thank you!!!

A great longtime business in Joliet that makes all kinds of baked goods. It has coffee if you need something along with a piece of cake or a pastry. Milano Bakery is a good place for getting customized orders that are made artfully well. Cool old school looking place but don't let that turn you away. The smells are another reason to come here. It has lots of great services provided including of course making customized cakes. Prices for things here are fairly good compared to most bakeries around here. They also have coffee if you need to drink something. If in need of something smaller there's also doughnuts. They have a pretty basic but still plentiful selection. Also get simple everyday items like bread. They bake everything fresh every morning. A highlight is getting a smell of the freshly baked items. It's a classic kind of old school bakery with all the favorites that generations have come to in the morning. Take a trip and go take a whiff.

Communion cake. White with raspberry mousse.

The communion cake I ordered turned out beautiful and the raspberry mousse was delicious. Well worth the drive. The cookies I got were gobbled up as well. Everyone loved the dessert. I will be ordering more cakes for sure. Make sure to call and confirm everything. Name was not on the cake and I had to have it added before I left the store. Turned out a little off center but everything else was perfect.

Ordered my daughter's birthday cake for a Valentine's Day themed party and it turned out fabulous. They have the best atomic cake and everyone enjoyed it. They only charged me $5 extra for decorating. The entire cake cost me a 1/4 of the cost compared to other bakeries in the area. My only complaint is they were hard to get a hold of via email.

This is my second trip to this Joliet bakery. Last time I had the cookies, this time I purchased the death by chocolate which is their twist on a donut with a chocolate pie inside. I also purchased a small chocolate pie. Both were very good!

    Whipped Cream? Atomic cake inside.

First timers here. I really wanted an authentic whipped cream cake for my birthday. So I ordered the whipped cream Automic cake. It's more like a whip cream FLAVOR frosting and for the whole 9" cake it seems like barely any fruit inside. For a $60 birthday cake and first impressions mean alot to me NO we will NOT be back. We drove 16 miles to get to and fro Day before purchased nice pastry squares ( cheese & additional fruit including 2 cherry) so EXPENSIVE. I shared 1 cherry w.my daughter and she reported a small very hard ( prbly a pit) she chewed on and sunk in a tooth tht she had to dig out! I informed the very young lady in front of bakery and she just gave me a far off unconcerned look and said O. If my daughter's tooth broke tht O wld have turned into an O!!!!! Sorry!! Won't happen again! To the staff here: when customer's request whipped cream...they mean WHIPPED CREAM us old schooler's are used to from back in the day. I will save my money and make my own. Thank you. We work hard for our money. Although we appreciate your effort it just did not give me that phenomenal impression that would keep me coming back AGAIN and again. Picture shows very thin scarce banana strawberry only in middle .

I have not been here in decades and it has not changed much the pastries and donuts as well as the breads bring back memories. I was in the area and had to stop and take a look-see. I parked on the side of the building and walked in and it was like I stepped back in time... all of my favorites seem to still be there so I ordered a chocolate cake donut and a water ...trying to eat healthy. The donut tasted great it melted in my mouth just as I remembered. I will be back.

a birthday cake on a plate

Solid bakery that's been around forever. The cake pictured is a top layer white cake with a chocolate fudge filling and chocolate bottom layer with buttercream frosting. It tasted amazing and didn't have a single slice leftover. We also enjoyed the snickerdoodle cookies, loaf of sourdough bread, fresh pretzels, donuts and fritters. Literally everything is great here.

Here's the $40 6" cake, with the wrong icing. How could we know?

Turns out, that everyone had the same idea, since the shop was closed Monday and Tuesday and that Wednesday was the first day back. I couldn't make it in time for opening, but about 90 minutes in; such a line!! I waited outside for 45 minutes, braving the cold winds as CDC guidelines only allow one guest in the tiny shop at a time. People were coming out with bags and bags of Hot Chocolate Bombs. When I made it into the store, that was obviously the main draw, although I did manage to take a couple cupcakes home, too. I scored two mint and two regular, both were filled with marshmallows. As I now was crazy intrigued at this entire fad, it definitely became the excitement of this more mundane holiday season. They were delicious (as were the cupcakes). Pro tip: follow the Cupcakery on Facebook. You'll not only know when there will be HCBs but also how many so you know how early to arrive to score some. They'll be making them as long as it remains cold out! Definitely worth the wait.

It was supposed to be Top: Chocolate cake with Banana Curd filling, Middle: Lemon Raspberry cake (Raspberries baked into the Lemon cake, an inflated "Specialty") w/ Lemon Curd filling, Bottom: Rainbow Vanilla cake (an inflated "Specialty") w/ Pastry Cream filling. The cake arrived frozen. So, the entire day, in fact? It was that frozen like a rock where we literally had to chew it. The flavors? DISGUSTING! I begged them to do Banana Curd, they agreed. They did Banana Pastry Cream, instead. They do not like suggestions. Their ingredients list said that one of their "Specialties" was "Lemon Raspberry". Now? This middle tier was straight up "Lemon", NO "RASPBERRIES BAKED IN", WHATSOEVER. They claimed that they were going to "bake Raspberries into it" so I said, that's fine because then it would be "Lemon Raspberry". It was not. I'm going to attach a picture of how many raspberries were in this cake. There were maybe 2. I don't know how you screw up Chocolate cake with Banana Curd that I had to twist their arm to do that they went ahead & did Banana Pastry Cream, regardless. It was beyond embarrassing! The only "ok" flavor & I do mean "ok", was the Vanilla & that's only because I love Vanilla any thing! The up-charge for a Vanilla Rainbow cake is insane, but they put so much Pastry Cream in it? No one could even enjoy that! This cake was supposed to arrive at 1PM. It did not arrive until 1:30PM. It arrived solid as a rock while we were ready to eat it! It took hours to get a knife through it while I had guests here! I don't know if it was because it was frozen that it tasted so bad? But, it was horrid & a challenge to our teeth. So, I waited alll day until 9PM to try the bottom, Vanilla Rainbow, my favorite. It hurt my teeth it was so sweet! And, it was still frozen! It looks pretty just because I gave them a picture to copy! My dream cake still exists. This cake is not it. They did not do Banana Curd. They lied to me & did what they wanted. A layer of Pastry Cream through the Rainbow Vanilla would've been ideal, but they put a layer of Pastry Cream through each & every single color of the Rainbow cake which they also Specialized in & charged more for to do! THICK LAYERS! THICKER THAN EACH CAKE LAYER! It is so sweet, I never thought I'd say this about my favorite flavor, but what were they thinking? It hurt my teeth! I'll upload a picture of that, also? Ridiculous. They ruined the Vanilla! Let me show you how much "RASPBERRY" is in "Lemon Raspberry" cake w/ Lemon Curd filling. Also? The Buttercream on here is so thick? It is the majority of the cake. The cake falls out of it! The Vanilla Rainbow with Pastry Cream between every single color was so unnecessary. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! Here is a picture of the "Lemon Raspberry" Cake! Just look at the attached photo if you want an example of what a disaster it is! It is DREADFUL! As was the rest of the entire cake! That pink thing in the middle of the cake? It is a straw. There's 2. 2 raspberries lol. We paid a grand for this. The woman who took my flavors was snobby & not open to anything but strictly their ingredients which are basic. She rushed me into it all. I really wanted Lemon Raspberry! There was no "Raspberry"! You couldn't even taste the Banana! They lied to me & told me they'd do Banana Curd so I could taste the Banana! You cannot go wrong w/ Chocolate Banana, Lemon Raspberry or Vanilla! They did! They did so wrong? I didn't keep any for myself & gave it all away. I wasn't having a party. Only close friends & family over throughout the day, but it was frozen the entire day! It was embarrassing! I wanted a refund. They refused, then banned me, as if I'd ever be back!? They are bad business! If they had offered a partial refund or another cake? This review would be different. Instead? They scoffed at me. Charged fee after fee & upcharge after upcharge for flavors they didn't achieve! NOT PROFESSIONAL!
