I came here for the first time today. I wanted to try their paczkis but they stopped selling them a few weeks ago. The girl at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The store had nobody in it, so it was easy to order. I got this round small bunny cake slice. The inside was vanilla cake with buttercream and was really good. It was not overly sweet and I definitely would get it again. It was such a cute design! The second thing I tried, was the brownie with peanut butter whipped cream on top. This was pretty good, I did like the bunny cake slice better. This brownie was not overly sweet either, which I do appreciate. Both items came out to be $5.81 so I thought that was a great deal. The bakery is definitely old-fashioned and you can tell it's been here many many years. They have a big parking lot and I do recommend giving them a try. They do close at 1 PM weekdays but they open as early as 5:30 in the morning. I would return if I am in the area again. read more

It has lots of great services provided including of course making customized cakes. Prices for things here are fairly good compared to most bakeries around here. They also have coffee if you need to drink something. If in need of something smaller there's also doughnuts. They have a pretty basic but still plentiful selection. Also get simple everyday items like bread. They bake everything fresh every morning. A highlight is getting a smell of the freshly baked items. First timers here. I really wanted an authentic whipped cream cake for my birthday. So I ordered the whipped cream Automic cake. It's more like a whip cream FLAVOR frosting and for the whole 9" cake it seems like barely any fruit inside. For a $60 birthday cake and first impressions mean alot to me NO we will NOT be back. We drove 16 miles to get to and fro Day before purchased nice pastry squares ( cheese & additional fruit including 2 cherry) so EXPENSIVE. I shared 1 cherry w.my daughter and she reported a small very hard ( prbly a pit) she chewed on and sunk in a tooth tht she had to dig out! Solid bakery that's been around forever. The cake pictured is a top layer white cake with a chocolate fudge filling and chocolate bottom layer with buttercream frosting. I was really happy to have found an old fashioned bakery. My grandma turned 92 and she is very specific about her cake. It MUST be whipped cream and never buttercream with fresh strawberries. I was clear on the phone. I ordered 2 days in advance. My daughter picked up and we didn't notice til we started eating it was buttercream. My grandma didn't eat any. Usually, the 6" round cake would last her all week, she would eat a little every night for dessert, which would make the $40 price easy to swallow! But it sat all week uneaten. I decided to call and when I did the girl I spoke with looked up the order, and admitted I ordered whipped cream and they made the cake wrong. I explained everything how my grandma turned 92 and really looked forward to her cake and all they would offer was 10% off! No replacement? I even had most of the cake I could bring in! 10% off a new $40 cake! What a complete joke. I tried to give them a chance to correct this before writing this but apparently customer service went out the window. Not to mention the neighborhood is not exactly the best...now look how small the cake is too! $40!!!!! I mean, I have no problem paying a premium if it's CORRECT! I even had a particular type of sprinkle in mind that I wanted on the cake and one of the ladies actually ran back to grab the sprinkles to make sure she knew exactly which ones I was talking about. They truly are cake artists; the cake was gorgeous!!! I wanted a "classy over the hill" cake and that is what they created for me. A well-known bakery that's been in the area since Moses wore short pants. And from the looks of its surrounding neighborhood, you can tell that it must of been here way before the area got ghetto and sketchy. I was surprised to see that they offered a lot more than just bread. (check the website out to see for yourself) I ordered a french silk pie for pick up and it wasn't ready yet when I got there so I munched on a banana boat and cannoli while waiting. Service was pretty good as I got the sense that it was still family-ran business. There were quite a few people patronizing the bakery, which surprised me considering that the location is bad and out of the way. Prices were high here as my pie came to a little under $10 while my cannoli and banana boat were $2.62. You pretty much pay the same here that you pay at your grocery store for their bread, which I didn't think was fair given that there's no middleman cost when you buy it from the bakery. The pie, despite being made the second I got there, wasn't as great as I expected. Wasn't all that flavorful, the crust was too thin, and it was hardly sweet. The hours weren't very accommodating to me as they pretty much close down by the time afternoon hits. I probably wouldn't go back but, its nice to see an old Joliet institution still going on strong. read more

I worked here for many years, and even after smelling the donuts and eating their products for many years, I still love Milano! It's way better than dunkin when it comes to donuts. Sweet and fresh with a great variety. Cakes are always made to order and are never dry. I recommend trying the atomic cake, with multiple layers and fillings! Had really high hopes when I decided to stop in a few weeks ago and finally try it. When I first walked in, I was immediately put off. There was a black lab hanging out in the front and one of the workers was around the counter petting him. I am a dog LOVER and my job is dog walking/sitting, but I dont believe they should be allowed near food that is being served to customers. I ended up getting some of the sprinkle cookies (amongst other things) and for some reason there were small inedible hard pieces throughout each cookie.
