They set me up with an appointment and when I asked a couple more questions re how quickly they could drop the trans and take a look at it they said, "oh we don't open up transmissions we just replace them ". What?? So what my appointment was apparently intended on their part was to test drive the truck and get a sense of what it is doing and if what it's doing requires actual REPAIR of the trans (you know how their ad says "transmission repair?), your ONLY solution at this business is to get a COMPLETE replacement of your transmission. What they do here is work with the bulk transmission rebuild shops like Jasper, etc who ship them a replacement trans which can be extremely costly, $3k to $4k or more depending on your vehicle - all this place does is remove your current and put a rebuild into it. They admitted they no longer staff ....you know ...TRANSMISSION REPAIR SPECIALISTS, who fix transmissions. Well guess what - there are at least ten or more other auto repair shops all around Flagstaff that do that exact same thing. Don't be fooled thinking you need this place because they have "transmission" in their name or you see "transmission repair" in the ad. They dont. Shop around to every auto shop in town and compare pricing, workmanship, etc. Sadly it seems Flagstaff no longer has a transmission specialist shop that can help repair, build, etc your trans - all you have available are trans replacement shops.

We stopped by Nationwide Transmission first thing on a Saturday morning and even though the owner, Adam, was busy, his team looked at our car. They diagnosed it, fixed it and got us back on the road. Highly recommend Nationwide Transmission, Adam and his team. They were patient, communicative, and very willing to help and even stay after hours to get the job done. Very honest and repairs were cheaper than we were expecting.

Unfortunately, that experience was completely different. We left his Subaru with them for an entire week, and it was never even diagnosed. We picked it up and later gave them another opportunity, dropping it off again for several days. Once again, it was not looked at. When we told them we needed the vehicle back by a certain afternoon, we ended up being charged $140--even though the problem had never been diagnosed or repaired. I understand shops get busy, but keeping someone's vehicle for days at a time without looking at it, twice, and then charging $140 was incredibly disappointing. We gave R&A Imports more than one opportunity because our first impression was so positive, but unfortunately, we will not be returning with either of our Subarus and I cannot recommend them based on our experience.

The story is my wife and I were in Sedona this past December, had an issue with our vehicle and took it to Flagstaff to get it checked out. We were told that it was essentially shot and scrambled for options to get it fixed. We called about a dozen places and of them all Flagstaff Auto Repair hands down had the best price, time frame for fixing our vehicle, and overall service. We got our ride fixed and were on our way without missing a beat - Alex and Flagstaff Auto Repair were a life saver. But there's more. Fast forward to February and the issue comes back. We're hundreds of miles from Flag and getting warranty coverage through the local dealer wasn't an option. I don't know what's going to happen, we couldn't afford to repair or replace the vehicle. Then, while I'm at work, I get a call from Alex with a solution: he comes, gets the vehicle, takes it to Flag, gets it fixed, and brings it back - Within a week. And he made good on that. So, I'm sitting here with my ride in the carport doing better than it has in months. Logan was super helpful, and took the time to help me even in the middle of this insane drunk couple screaming and getting aggressive with him in the lobby while he was talking to me. I have genuinely never experienced anything like what was happening. Logan had previously offered to get their car immediately back to them, and that it just needed to be put back together first. After further aggression, he asked them to leave, they continued to come back in and verbally attack him, cops were called by the drunks, and then the drunk boyfriend attempted to assault one of the cops that they literally called themselves- ending in him being arrested. And all the while they treated me with priority, kindness, and compassion. I even received a voucher for a free oil change and an offer for them to help another issue all for free. Seriously the nicest and most professional people I have ever met. Have never seen a place that can deal with drunks, cops, and witness reports while still looking at my car and keeping me updated. When my car was finally done, he tried to overcharge me, even though we had discussed price both when I made my appointment, and when I dropped the car off. I asked again if they checked my tire pressure since I'm going on a long drive tomorrow, he said "Yes - they do that automatically."
