Rodney's is a genteel bar/eatery in a restored house with an upmarket seafood & steak menu, plus outdoor seating. For our opening course, we tried the Sea Divers Scallops. These were tandoori-rubbed and served with a sweet Thai chili sauce. The scallops had a good sear and a slight crunch, with the tandoori rub offering a mild, earthy kick and a hint of chili powder flavor. The scallop was light and melted in your mouth. The Thai chili sauce added a sweet heat combo that complemented the scallops perfectly. We then shared the Lobster Bisque, which our server recommended. The bisque was very creamy, with a slightly thicker, velvety texture than typical bisques. It was so creamy that it almost tasted like it had cheese in it, which it did not. It had a salty, slightly paprika-spiced flavor, while the sherry added a slight nutty note. This was an excellent dish and worth the drive itself. For my main course, I ordered the Lamb Chops. They were char-grilled with roasted garlic mint demi-glace and the Potato de jur, which is smoked Gouda au gratin. My lamb was spot-on medium-rare; however, the char was a little hard and bitter, especially on the edges. This was present in most bites. The mint sauce added a touch of sweetness and depth to the meat's flavor. The potatoes were cooked through and offered a slight chew. The Gouda was creamy and nutty, pairing well with the potatoes, though it needed a bit more seasoning. My wife chose the Filet for her main course. She ordered it medium rare with Weisenberger white cheddar grits and green peppercorn cream sauce. Her grits were cooked well and not overdone; the cheddar was only topped on the dish and not melted into it, but it did offer a sharp bite. We both found them to be bland and in need of seasoning. The peppercorn sauce was creamy, with the onions adding texture, crunch, and a slight sweetness, while the peppercorns popped with flavor and mild heat. The steak was seasoned and cooked to a perfect medium rare; it melted in your mouth. However, the hard char on the edges added a heavy, bitter flavor to most bites. Rodney's menu features appetizers, soups, salads, prime beef selections, entrees, side dishes, and desserts. They offer a full bar with beer and soda selections. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and will offer suggestions and advice. The Fat Man says that Rodney's on Broadway is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.

My husband got red beans and rice and it was also very dry. You usually get hot sauce with Cajun food and we had to ask for it. There was a lady that seemed to run the place sitting near us and she made zero effort to help with customers. When we were eating - she asked how it was and we said good (awkward), then she responded "I was hoping it was good, it's the first time I've ever made it" um, excuse me? The first time you've ever made it? I was so confused at how they run a restaurant and hadn't made the dishes before. It showed they had no experience in cooking the dishes. I love a hole in the wall place but this was pretty dirty. The fried pickles were ok, and my husband liked the boudin balls - but we won't be back.

Based on the season will depend on what food is available because it is Fresh! Zero leftovers period. Good luck there being any anyway because of the flavor. Service is personal. I'm talking the owner is also one of the cooks and she's always coming out to the patrons and really talks to them. Not just the welcome to our restaurant, it's come on in and she'll get you fully excited, mouth watering, can't wait to come back again all before your food has even arrived. The ambiance? You walk in those doors and you're instant family. Not just by the workers, even the customers will talk across tables joining in. I can't express enough just how much everyone really needs to experience this family owned and operated down home creole living.

We tried to like this place after a positive first lunch experience but it went downhill quickly…read more We took our family out to celebrate and the quality of food was really bad. It tasted like it was old the smell was off and temperature cold. We've never seen the hibachi station open, but this was the worst the buffet had been. On top of that the server on our most recent visit stood over our shoulders pointing to the tip line item asking for the largest possible tip and WOULD NOT LEAVE our table as we finished dinner and were signing the check. She was watching pointing for more and more tip pointing to the bill and going as far as patting our shoulders awkwardly asking for more money more money. It felt very inappropriate and we wondered if they did this to everyone or were singling us out for money. The physical touching was too much. Not a place we want to return to. Several of us woke up sick the next morning after eating here and I've never had a server demand +++% tips as loudly and uncomfortably as this last experience. Would suggest a family night out elsewhere.

I seen the waitress go up and tell the owner/manager right after i said something. They all just looked up at us and basically shrugged their shoulders. Trust the stars/reviews! Two lobster tails, a pound of shrimp, king crab leg, snow crab leg, and mussels as well as corn, eggs, potatoes and sausage for two hundred bucks. Honestly, felt like a good deal and easily fed a family of five. But the quality? Well, like I said, best crab boil I've ever had. You can pick different spice options. We did the crab boil mild and it had just enough spice for a good kick of flavor without overpowering the crab. The shrimp were delicious. The mussels were enormous and flavorful. Oh and the raw oysters? Humongous. Not super briny and if you don't like that taste you'll love these. These were seriously some of the biggest oysters I've ever seen. And the crab was just perfect. This was easily a hundred times better than the upscale bougie seafood place across the river in Louisville. Our server was super nice. The whole place is a vibe. I've been wanting to come here for a couple years and I'm so glad we finally stopped in.
