Leono's has a reputation for great pizza. I have heard about it from friends and neighbors since I moved to Central Kentucky. So today I stopped in with my father for lunch. Unfortunately my dad wasn't in the mood for pizza because he loves their fettuccini alfredo. So I took a quick poll from some surrounding patrons and ordered a Stromboli. (spaghetti was a close second, so I have to return for both pizza AND spaghetti!) The restaurant is large and provides lots of seating in tables or booths. I was informed on Friday and Saturday allow for some wait time to be seated. But since I went on a Tuesday afternoon we were seated right away. Our server was very nice and attentive. The dining area and pick up counter were immaculate. The menu was double sided, one side devoted to various pizza options and appetizers. The back of the menu was pasta dishes and sandwiches. There were salads and dessert options as well. Everything looked and sounded delicious. My dad's fettuccine looked great, he ordered a small size portion that looked very generous. He also had cheese and garlic breadsticks that looked wonderful. The Stromboli was excellent. It came fully loaded and had ruffles style potato chips as a side. It was an average size sandwich compared to what you might get at a subway sandwich place, but it was enough and it was very tasty. I will definitely return for pizza, when I told my neighbor we had lunch at Leono's his face lit up and he asked "did you get a pizza?!" when I said no he looked disappointed in me. I assured him it was on my list and he invited himself to go with me. Try them out- you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. read more

Small town atmosphere with great Italian food. I normally get lasagna, but sometimes will get the Superghetti, which has sausage and vegetables in it. The pasta is cooked to perfection and very rarely, is the pasta overcooked. The portions are substantial and the prices are well below the chain Italian restaurants. They don't have the expensive Italian ambience, but they have good food at good prices and I can't remember the last time we had bad service. We live close, so we go to here a couple times a month. read more

We wanted to try something outside of chain restaurants, but this place is nothing to "write home about." Upon our arrival, we observed a small child running around in the kitchen. Not only is this dangerous, but I'm sure the health dept would not approve. The food is overpriced. We ordered cheese bread as an appetizer, not realizing it is only individual portions. We also ordered the meat pizza and a beef and cheddar sandwich. The cheese bread was a bit dry and was served with a cup of under seasoned butter. Normally breadsticks are served with marinara so we asked the waitress for some, not realizing we were going to be charged for "extra sauce." The sandwich was next to bare and lacking (as you can see in pic.) It was served with cheap chips that tasted like they hadn't been stored correctly. The pizza was ok. It tasted like the canned pizza crust from Kroger. It was under-seasoned so we added salt. In summary, I'm always happy when we try something new but do not recommend based on our experience. read more

As a local I have been subjected to going to Leono's several times in my life, and absolutely every time I've gone I've had terrible food poisoning. Never going again as it got so bad I got to go to the ER in the middle of the night. Several tests had to be done and it was Campylobacter and Listeria, so I know that those kitchens aren't that clean without even having to see them. Service is fine, the waiters are all high schoolers so your mileage may very, but the manager has been very rude. read more

No one carries cash like you use to and now I won't be able to tip the driver because I had to scrounge up change to be able to pay for my order since all I use is card now. Meal was ruined by the overly loud juke box. Unable to have a dinner conversation. Just made the whole meal experience go down the drain.

The food is always delicious, and the service has always been prompt and courteous when we've been there. The price is reasonable as well.

The service at Leono's is very nice and welcoming. The waiters always have a nice smile and are never too rude. The food is very good, cooked well, and exactly how I wanted. The wait on the food for a pick up order is always near or around the time they said on the phone. They are always greeting everyone who comes in with a nice, welcoming smile. I'm from out of town and literally picked this restaurant because the parking lot was full. I figured full parking lot must be good food and I wasn't wrong. After a brief description of the menu from my willing and waiting waitress I made the decision to pick the lasagna. BTW, have the cheese put on the breadsticks, only 80 cents xtra. I have been here an few times only once did I have an fulfilling experience. Service is moderately good but about the same level you could expect out of a gas station quality pizzeria. Now I know Leono's is supposed to be "fancy pizza" so I have set high expectations of their pizza but I don't think their pizza would even reach expectations of gas station quality pizza no offense. The environment is friendly but you guys must improve the quality of your pizza I literally get an lot of pizza grease on "fancy pizza" and the pizza doesn't taste satisfying and the pizza is just gross. It's a shame that so called "fancy pizza" can't even fit gas station quality expectations hopefully these issues can be corrected otherwise you may lose many customers including me. read more

I've been here a few times since we moved to the area and have grown to adore it. Leono's isn't the best pizza place I've ever been to, but everything about it is charming: the high school employees, the families dining together, the overall cheerful atmosphere, the arcade games in the back corner, the jukebox, and the classic pizza joint menu offerings... and the fact that it's pretty much the only good pizza place in town that isn't take-out like Snappy Tomato or Papa John's. The pizza itself isn't amazing by Chicago pizza standards, BUT, it IS pretty darn good in its own way. Although you can get a variety of toppings and crusts (thin, pan), my husband and I typically order a thin crust cheese pizza and we always drool over it. The cheese breadsticks are pretty phenomenal too. The bills at the end of our meals aren't too bad -- typically less than $20 for two of us with an appetizer, pizza, and drinks. I'll probably be eating pizza here for the rest of my life. Thank God it's good pizza! Whew. read more

What a pleasant surprise this little gem is! I was on a road trip and we were driving through Cynthiana with not many options for food. I saw this place on yelp and thought we should give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The staff was so kind and friendly and the food was delicious. I'm from a big city so I wasn't expecting much at first but this place is very good and if for some reason I bet find myself back in Cynthiana I would definitely come back! Also, the Alfredo sauce has a touch of cinnamon in it which is subtle but very good! I never would have thought about cinnamon in Alfredo, but it's actually a great touch! read more

When they moved into the new building everything changed. They were the only ones that were making their own pasta dishes. Now the dishes tasted fake. The pizza was very good before. Now its got a funny taste. Plus you cannot get delivery for under $30. If you just order the pasta and bread sticks they won't deliver it. read more

Best pizza in Kentucky! Great environment, you can tell there is hard work and pride baked into every slice. Owner is out on the floor making sure everything is perfect, and she knows many guests by name. Staff is friendly and attentive. Just make sure not to burn your mouth when the pizza comes to your table, because they bring it piping hot. I will be back! read more

I grew up here, ate Leono's as much as I could, and now that I live in Chicago I stop here every single time I am there visiting family. The Lasagna is my number one go-to. Their thin crust pizza (cracker thin) is perfect every. single. time. The hot ham and cheese is one of a kind. If you get the breadsticks, indulge yourself and add cheese. First of all I will note that Leonos does not serve beer. The food was good, but not great. The service was casual and adequate but not fast. The atmosphere feels like a smallish restaurant from the 90's. The ambient noise was a little louder than I expected I used the DB meeter on my phone and got an average between 76db and 83db. Quite possibly the best lasagna I have had in my entire life -- and I lived in Italy for a year. The service is sometimes "scattered" but the food more than makes up for slightly off service. Delivery is great too, but be sure to check your food before the delivery person leaves because they frequently forget an item or two. Also, if you order breadsticks for delivery, just a warning that the garlic butter WILL be spilled in your bag when it arrives. But the food is amazing. The meat pizza is a little expensive for Cynthiana, but it is quite incredible and worth the extra dollars. read more

My favorite spot in Cynthiana for pizza, even if the competition is mediocre..but tonight I call to place my order for a large pan pizza & salad, Brittany from Leonos calls me back to inform me (@9:30 so not close to closing) that they're out of pan pizza dough in all sizes except mini.. but if I want the minis in place of my large I'll have to order them all individually & at regular price & she couldn't offer any suggestions for how many minis would constitute a large. Definitely not getting the same amount of pizza for the $$ & I have no idea if I'm getting enough. Probably the worst customer service in a restaurant I've experienced.... read more
