I rarely write reviews, but I just had an amazingly pleasant experience at Mike's Smog Check in Indio (Indio Blvd) that I felt compelled to share. When I phoned them, they were wide open,, but it took me about 15 minutes to get there, so when I arrived they pleasantly informed me it would be just a brief wait, and asked if I'd like to sit in their air conditioned office while I waited. At first, I chose to remain in the car with the AC blasting. After literally just a couple of minutes, the office manager gave me an update and told me it shouldn't be more than 10 minutes. About 2 minutes later, she motioned me (and the car) to drive up toward the work area. They weren't ready for me quite yet, but she wanted to get me and my MIL's old Subaru out of the beating sun. At that point, I opted to go into the office. The office manager almost immediately asked if I'd like a cold bottle of water! By then, literally probably even less than 10 minutes, they were ready for my car. The technician did a thorough, but speedy, job and the car passed. They emailed the results to the State (don't know if they do this on all tests or just the STAR tests), and quickly went over the invoice and results with me, I paid, and was on my way. Recently, I was in search of a convenient place to have my car tested for smog. A co-worker recommended Mike's Smog, so I decided to give them a call to inquire about pricing and appointment requirements. The staff I spoke with were very courteous and informed me that no appointment was necessary and that I could come in the same day. Taking advantage of my lunch break, I visited their location. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted and invited to wait inside their lobby, which was comfortable and well-maintained. The team worked efficiently, and my car was ready in no time. I was out one day searching for a place to Smog my vehicle. I asked Family and Friends, and Mike's Smog kept coming up so I decided to take my vehicle to this shop. When I arrived , the technician as well as the owner greeted my with professionalism, the shop was very clean and the waiting room was very comfortable. So I took my 1978 Chevrolet Caprice to get smogged today. After being warmly greeted and a short wait, they loaded my car on the smog machine. Mike likes to do a pre-test on the cars to see how it will perform on the actual smog test. He told me that my car was very close and that there's a good chance it will pass. He asked me if I wanted to continue with the test. Sure enough my car passed! I was very pleased with their service and I'm definitely going to be returning for all my smog checks. read more

I needed my smog done ASAP, and lucked out when I called Mike's Smog Check. I called at 9:30 AM on a Saturday, and was able to get an appointment immediately. The receptionist, who happens to be Mike's wife, was warm and welcoming, and even offered me a bottle of water while I waited. Mike had my smog check done in no more than 15 minutes, and was extremely kind. I highly recommend Mike's Smog! They're open ALL DAY on Saturdays, and stray open until 6PM during the week. read more

went in the other day to get a smog (obviously) and they had it done in 10 minutes. I ended up staying way longer afterwards talking to mike himself about small businesses, music and family. Everyone is so friendly and very honest. As a woman he makes you feel very comfortable and everything is out in the open, he doesn't try and cheat you or up the price like other places do out here. I took our 1998 Ford Crown Victoria to Mike's Smog Check yesterday. They greeted me at my car, opened my door for me, asked me to wait in the waiting room (air-conditioned). I was offered a bottle of water while I waited and Mike's mom was super sweet! The smog check took about 15 minutes and I was done. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff! Excellent customer service! I went there to get my biennial Smog check for the DMV. I was greeted immediately by the staff before I even walked in the door. I barely sat down in the waiting area and my car was ready to go. I was literally in and out in less than 10 minutes. I didn't even have time to finish a game on my phone. it is very rare to find a smog place that doesn't charge you if you don't pass, Mike's is the exception. $55 per check, only if you pass. $0 if you don't, and they'll make sure you're aware of the problem so you aren't ripped off by the next mechanic you visit. the owner is very personable and accommodating. do yourself a favor and get your vehicle smogged at Mike's. you'll be glad you did. read more

My family's has been going to Mike's smog since 2007. We love that they are 100% family owned. They share thoses family values with you when you're their customers. They are honest and straight forward. They take their time with your car, check it over and your still out within 15 minutes. No one does that kind of service anymore. We just went to get are smog checked and we got there as they were closing but he remembered us and stayed open to do are smog check. Highly recommended anyone who is in need of a smog check to go there they truly take real good care of you. Needed to get a smog check asap because I'm a procrastinator and always wait till the last minute and Mike's took me in right as they were about to close I think, They were very speedy but most importantly to me they were friendly! We've taken our vehicles here for years now & service is always top notch. It's not the closest smog check to our house but I'm willing to drive farther for a mom & pop shop who goes out of their way to be friendly & accommodating.
