The staff here is always nice whenever I happen to swing in while working for a quick smoothie / drink and a sandwich or glaze donut. They make it real quick so we can get back on the rode. Tried their razz smoothie today, says they use real fruit in it which it tasted like so, didn't have that artificial taste. Got a large for like $6 and a donut to run. The glaze donuts were soft, not dry, and had plenty of glaze (not like Krispy Kreme) but they were good. Thanks and will be back! Will be back next time i swing thru! read more

I like Mike's! Why? Top notch Customer Service, fresh pastries, sandwiches, bagels, croissants. Convenience and quick, responsive service. I stop here any time I have a few minutes traveling through Forest Hills Station. I like their Steak Bagel, hot or cold Apple Cider, numerous donuts and pastries. The croissants are very tasty. One of my favorite things about commuting through Forest Hills was Mike's Donuts. I ate far too many donuts there because they were perfect every time. I moved away from Boston years ago, but came back recently for a visit and happened to take the Orange Line down to Forest Hills. I came up the stairs, and, wow, there was Mike's. I never would have imagined that this place would have such tasty treats...the appearance of forest hills alone doesn't really make you want to eat anything inside that station lol, but I am impressed! I lived in JP for over a year and would stop by to get a coffee roll some mornings. Loved it! I know moved from JP and have a coworker who lives on that side of town who brings me in donuts and I am even more in love! Donuts are soft, fluffy, and the graze is the right amount of sweetness! I live close to FH station so I do go to Mike's; in a pinch , if I am late or out of coffee at home, their coffee is 2.75 and mediocre at best. I enjoy their chocolate chip cookies but the rude service is not usually worth it. Today will be my last experience ever at a Mike's donuts and here is why. After a long walk thru the arboretum with my two dogs who had finished all their water long ago I went to mike's knowing they had tap water asked for two cups of water for my dogs . I had to repeat myself 3 times then a woman held out 2 paper cups and my dogs were panting and she said" that will be one dollar" I said I am sorry I don't have any cash on me but I am a regular customer and my dogs are very thirsty, she looked me, poured them out and said"I don't care" Mike's is the only place in the station where people ride the train all the time with their dogs that does have tap water. JP is supposed to be a very dog friendly place. If you have a dog or care about dogs I urge you never to never go there again. read more

Donuts are good. Breakfast sandwiches are 7-11 quality. Coffee is terrible - hot and iced tastes like dirt. The cashier who is there most of the time is rude, impatient, always on her phone, and never wears her mask. The other staff there always seem friendly but unfortunately the cashier is the one you have to deal with. Watered down coffee... check! Sour milk that curdles once it hits hot coffee... check! Donuts that could double as hockey pucks... check! Frozen microwave pizza sitting under a heat lamp... check! Spinning hotdogs at 8:00 am... check! Wow this place has everything an old school convenience store has and sells 3 day old donuts two for a dollar at closing time about twice a week. I pass it every day on my way to the subway, and only on desperate days do I stop for coffee. There is always a weirdly shaped line due to a subway station pillar being right in front of their window. This makes it very easy for people to come up from the bus ramp cut around the corner and walk straight to the front of the line. On more than one occasion a very loud, very overweight, woman and her son Alize (like the cognac) have blatantly cut everyone in line so they could make the transfer from their bus to the train in time, while making everyone else late. The son's name is burned into my psyche as the woman is continually yelling at him to behave, all the while she is feeding him donuts and coffee for breakfast... go figure. read more

Wow, for months I thought I was the only one with a secret love for this small, unassuming doughnut shop in a Jamaica Plains T Station. Do not pass this up. If you love doughnuts (and I know you do!), you've got to check out their apple fritters. $1.70 will get you an apple fritter the size of a baby's head, deliciously deep fried and glazed, with injected apple filling (rather than cooking apple chunks into the dough) If you liked that, you'll love the triangle doughnuts with the white frosting and dusted with cinnamon. Same apple filling, but with a different spin. The boston cream doughnuts (.90, I believe) are BETTER than Dunkin' -- they have a distinct "fried" taste that's not often found in commercial doughnuts, and the filling is delicious. Don't bother with the tea or the coffee (had it a few times, nothing to brag about) but the doughnuts are great! read more

I forgot that squishy powered fried donuts with fake sweety raspberry jelly I liked as a kid. Never enough jelly. DD manages to F it up. There is probably a place in Boston with even better donuts but I don't know where that is. I once saw a shirt that said "Donuts for Dinner" I recently engaged in this practice more than once. I've been coming here annually when I have the chance to ever since I moved out of Mission Hill back in 2008. Small donut/coffee shop, sweet Greek ladies taking your orders...and it's comfortable inside there. It's not trendy, but definitely not that run down. I am in love with the egg and cheese croissant sandwich! The huge-sized flakiness, butteriness, and fluffiness of it just works so nicely with the inner fillings! Best part is that they are fresh! None of that crappy hard crust and fake shaped egg like Dunkin Donuts! I never tried the coffee and pizza, but some of the donuts are definitely like the cake donuts you see at any apple orchard farms (only MUCH bigger). If this is not your style, then just don't get it. I don't mind it much...just that it's due to my own memory association that I always expect the cinnamony flavor from that kind of texture! When I return, I will try the other suggested donuts! read more

Mike's Donuts Forest Hills Totally unassuming. You would never suspect they have Totally Amazing Donuts. DO: get their butternut donut. SO DELISH. Their coconut donut is great, too, which they gave me by accident once. That's ok. I forgive you. They seem to have breakfast sandwiches and pizza, coffee and drinks, muffins and coffee rolls....lots to chose from. Also, super cheap! Because there aren't any Dunkins close, it's great that this is literally RIGHT INSIDE FOREST HILLS. How cool is that? read more

Prices have increased and quality seemingly went down. I used to get their sprinkle doughnut all the time, but lately they've been hard and very unsatisfying. When I think of a doughnut, I think of something light and fluffy that can make your morning a sweet one. Now I avoid the doughnuts altogether. I haven't been to the Forest Hills location but I've been to the one on Tremont St near Mission Hill. Seriously, the best donuts, friendly service, and their logo somehow reminds me of The Simpsons. Been a resident of JP for three years and I've spent a lot of time dealing with pretentious coffee shops and cafes or going to a dirty Dunkin Donuts...with little in between. Shame on me for walking past Mike's every single day to rush to my train. I can drink the coffee black without choking on bitterness and the doughnuts are delicious! Soft, flavorful and aromatic, like doughnuts are supposed to be. Breakfast sandwiches are also delicious - the ham is actually sliced ham, not a medallion of mystery pink meat. The English muffins are much better than store bought disks of yeasty dough. Two negatives, however - my last iced coffee was 3/4 ice and 1/4 coffee. I'll have to correct them and ask for less ice next time because that was a bummer. Almost $3 for a cup of ice is acceptable no where. Second con, the line can be chaotic. They have two registers but I've only seen them use one. They're calling for the next order before you even get your change back and people are constantly in each other's way. They're quick but a little disorganized. We all know you can provide fast service and have an efficient system for moving the line along without confusion (i.e. every Starbucks and Dunkin, ever). I'd be interested in knowing why they have two cash registers/windows if they're just going to bottleneck the one. Other than that, the staff is friendly and the coffee and food are consistently good for a much better price than the roaster across the street. The pros out way the cons by leaps and bounds so I'm willing to give five stars. Worth the stop if you already pass through Forest Hills. read more

I only been here twice and I don't think I'm coming back. I went to order a jelly donut and a hot tea which I could have grabbed at home but was in a rush. The lady that was putting the donuts away was rude. I was in the process of grabbing my stuff so I moved out the way so the customers behind can get their turn, the lady was like "can you move so the guy give me the donuts." First of all the guy holding the donuts can wait simply because it does not take 5 minutes or even 2 for me to put my money in my pockets and grab my things off the counter. It takes common sense for anyone to see that I had stuff in my hands and needed 10 seconds to put my cash away. Ordered an iced coffee which tasted bitter. I asked if they would mind doing it over and the lady at the register completely lost it. Started slamming stuff and throwing a hissy fit. She was frustrated from dealing with the customer in front of me and decided to take it out on me. Not once was I rude or disrespectful so I didn't appreciate her attitude. For years, this place was my go-to spot for a coffee on my way to work. For several years I wasn't taking the Orange Line much and I didn't miss it. The Orange line that is, not Mike's Donuts. However, recent circumstances have dictated that I take the Orange Line more frequently again. Even though the cast of friendly Eastern European ladies has changed, Mike's remains as a great spot to grab a hot cup of fresh coffee and a corn muffin while on the go. read more

This place is awesome. The coffee is exactly what I need to get my brain working in the morning. The donuts are excellent (by the way, if you get there at the right time, you can actually see the family owned business' one delivery guy bringing them in and can grab one before it even makes it to the shelf). The guy below is right about one thing, they unload their leftover donuts at the end of the day for real cheap -- proof positive that they aren't serving them up again the next morning.
