Mike did a fantastic job tackling an extremely heavy, delicate, expensive and unwieldy granite-topped, mahogany vanity. He mapped out the best path, and ensured that all risks were mitigated before selecting the best tools for completing the move. I was extremely worried that any number of accidents could have occured because of this thing's size and weight; but to my enormous relief, Mike was able to finesse the vanity into its very tight spot, completing the move expediently and with flying colors. I'm leaving this review not because of some work these guys did for me, but for what happened on the road. These guys almost killed me today. I was driving next to one of their trucks on the freeway in the Fairfield area in California, when the truck just veered into my lane with no turn signal or visible indication. Luckily there was no car in the lane next to me. I sped up To look at the driver who had earbuds in his ears and was totally oblivious to what happened. The truck had no phone number on it either. I'll keep this short. This review is about Mike Davis specifically. Bottom line, he's unprofessional. He agreed via text and verbally to pay me $200 to cover damages made to a family heirloom during a move in July. However, payment was never sent. Followed up numerous times only to be told "I'll send it soon :)". He even adds a smiley face to cover the fact that he has no intention of paying. Just spend the extra $50/hr and hire a true professional with a contract so you're protected. There's plenty of better options in the area. read more

Mike has the worst display of professionalism and can't take responsibility for anything his movers do. It took his movers 8 hours to move a 2 bedroom apartment 10 minutes away, during which they did not have to take apart or reassemble any furniture. The time we could've forgiven, but after we inspected our old apartment, we found new damage in the walls that we took pictures of right away. We let Mike know and the movers know before they left for the day and he said they would get back to us tomorrow. The next day Mike tells us that his movers said that there was no way it could be them (it definitely was, we know exactly where all the dents and scratches are in our walls). He then had the nerve to tell us that even if it was them, the apartment shouldn't charge us, and that we shouldn't pay for the damage if they charge us. Then he said he would argue with them himself if they charged us. Why would anyone think that would work? I was referred to him by two family members who have referred them a lot of business in the past few years. I will make sure that no one I know will ever refer them to anyone again. read more

Fantastic service!!! The two guys that came were wonderful. Friendly, early, quick, careful, thoughtful, and efficient. They called me before they came to make sure I was ready. Showed up 10 or 15 mins early. Loaded up my 2bedroom house in an hour and a half. Unloaded in less time than that. Were thoughtful to place each box in the room they were labeled. Everything was fine until a few days later we realized they turned out furniture and boxes around to hide the rips and scratches. I saw one guy chunk a few boxes in the back of the truck. Another nicked my daughters dresser and was laughing about it. Apparently breaking people's belongings is a laughing matter? Would not recommend to someone who has furniture or any object they cherish because it won't last the move! UPDATE: lately I've received multiple aggravated messages from the owner to take down my review. If I'm not mistaken the basis of YELP is for people to honestly review businesses & share experiences. I used Mike Davis movers for a move from a studio apartment in Torrance to a one bedroom apartment in Alhambra. I gave Mike a call about a week in advance and he said he had some availability for that day. I told him I wanted to move at 10am on a Sunday morning and he told me he was available during that time. He finished the conversation by telling me he would call me the night before with an exact time the movers would arrive at my place and that he would give a half an hour notice if they came early. He quotes me $270 for three hours including a fuel fee and a few to bring the truck back to Torrance. Mike calls me the night before and tells me the movers will be at my place from 12-2pm. Well, whatever happened to 10am like we spoke about prior?! Now, I'm a procrastinator so you know that when Sunday morning came, I was up before the butt crack of dawn trying to pack up my life in boxes. Now, procrastinators utilize every minute they have because time is precious, after all, we did wait UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. Well, my time was cut short when I received a call from the movers at 10:30am saying they are in front of my place, ready and waiting to go. Uhm, what?! What happened to the window time of 12-2pm? What happened to 30 minutes of advanced notice for early arrival? I actually pause what I'm doing and try to make myself decent (yea I walk around my place in my undies!) and because I took a while, Mike calls me and tells me the movers have arrived and asks me if they could proceed. Well, what choice do I have at this point? So while they are moving stuff into the trucks, I'm packing. Frantically. Throwing everything in bags and boxes. Everything is a mess. I wanted to give Mike Davis moving 5 stars because Hugo and Christian were absolutely excellent and personable, however I had to subtract some stars because of the loss of time and thus extra money for more time. Tips: Cash only. Minimum of three hours. Extra fees for fuel and for cost to get the truck back to Torrance. No extra fees for making the guys move your stuff via stairs instead of elevators. What a clean, efficient moving team! I contacted Mike through a listing on Craigslist 3 days before my move. Mike responded immediately and the quote was very sensible. I had a pretty heavy gel foam eastern king mattress that needed to be moved up to the 9th floor through a small elevator and a very narrow hallway. Previous movers have showed up in tiny trucks and had so much trouble trying to strap this mattress down, but Mike's guys were amazing! They got here early in a huge 25 footer and the entire process was so fast. They curved the mattress and strapped it to dolly then moved the rest of my items in quick succession. Beware People these guys will show up to your house and if they feel like the job is too tough for them. They will just get back into there truck and leave. I booked them for a job and they show up to the house and start counting my stairs with an attitude. Then they walk in and take a look around and i show them what needed to be moved. They agree and according to the yelp reviews thats why i booked them bc it had good reviews. But these Guys i would never do business with these lazy guys at all. I saw an ad for Mike on Craigslist. I called him and he told me that there is a 3 hour min for his services. I knew I wouldnt need 3 hours, but he worked with me and I booked with him. There were no extra charges for the move, so I paid what I was quoted and then tipped the movers. I had a small, simple move so the guys (Murphy, Arnold, and M...) did a good job. They were friendly as well. I booked the movers only a day before. The drivers called 15 mins before their arrival to tell me their ETA. They had the addresses preset in their GPS and always confirmed before moving to the next location. Also, he only accepts cash payment. I also recommend to have a couple of cold, water bottles for each mover....Im sure they will appreciate it. read more

Better late than never, I have been wanting to commend Mike Davis and his great team of movers, for the excellent help I received last year. They moved me from Rancho Palos Verdes to Palm Desert. They were not only capable and swift but also quite gentlemanly and happy to assist. It made moving that much more comfortable because I was super stressed! I then suggested them to my boyfriend's mom when she had to move from RPV to San Pedro. Her home of 40 years was over 3,000 sq feet, with several heavy pieces of furniture. It took the guys only 4 hours to move her in! I would not hesitate to suggest Mike Davis to anyone! PS....I failed to mention that one of my main concerns was that the movers may not be on time or show up at all, but these guys showed up a few minutes early and eager to move! James, Murphy, and Jesus showed up in Chatsworth where my furniture and belongings were stored right on time (actually a few minutes early), got everything loaded in under an hour, and made it to Santa Monica ahead of me (they got to use the commuter lane! :) Unfortunately, the ramp to my building's parking lot was too steep to get the truck up to unload so they were forced to unload at street level and walk up 3.5 flights of stairs with all my stuff since my building doesn't have an elevator! Ugh. I felt bad but not one of the three of them complained, made a snide comment, etc - they busted their tails, remained upbeat and professional, and STILL finished in the expected time!! All three of them were courteous, polite, and professional in every possible way. They were kind enough to make sure and put each and every load exactly where I asked them to drop it off. Mike's guys were top notch. They came to my house and loaded my stuff in the truck, went to my boyfriends and loaded his stuff from his second floor apartment then put it all in out new place. They were clean and courteous as well as gentle with our belongings.
