Frankly, I can't remember having eaten a better meal than I had today at Mikado, in MetroWest. The server was responsive but never hovered, and she was ever gracious and charming. The booth we sat in had a beautiful and asymmetrical heavy wooden table top polished to a brilliant shine, and there were a surprising number of diners there at noonish, on a Tuesday... what's that tell you? Now: the food! *First, for the technically challenged, be warned that the menu is available via phone and QR Code. If you want a printed menu, too bad. Otherwise... We began our meal with Agedashi Tofu, which is fried cubes of tofu that have a magnificently thin layer of a crisp skin encasing melted tofu, and there's a perfect sauce to dip them in. I have been thinking about these for an hour now and can't even imagine how they are made. A delicious magic trick! Next, we had an Eel and Shrimp Tempura Roll, a Shrimp Tempura Bento Box, and two Nigiri and Sashimi lunch specials. The Tempura was light and crisp. The bento box included a spring roll, fried rice, and gyoza, all perfectly flavored. The Nigiri and Sashimi fish was served cold and absolutely fresh, and was sliced generously. The Nigiri and Sushi lunches included a California roll, 4 pieces of sushi, and six pieces of sashimi, and really was a lot of excellent food for a bargain $24. I almost forgot that we started, along with the Agedashi Tofu, with a very subtly flavored miso soup with tofu and seaweed. This was also perfection, with just a breath of ginger and perfect salt. I hope I've convinced you fans of Japanese food to try this restaurant. If you're new to Japanese food's many varieties and intricacies, or hesitant to eat raw foods, there are always cooked meat and fish dishes like Tempura or Teriyaki you can order, and then you can explore by tasting the more exotic things your friends and family order. My family has been going here for over 10yrs. It is a metro west staple and has the best sushi around hands down. It used to be a hidden gem but it's apparent everyone knows they are established and well known for their amazing food and hospitable service set in a lovely dimly lit ambiance. I recommend the touki roll, the fried gyoza, the bento boxes are fab, the yaki soba is so flavorful... I could go on and on. Honestly there are probably fewer things I could say I don't like. Small and quaint in a shopping plaza. I like that you can get an elevated experience for local prices. The boat can be different each time depending on what they have in season. The fatty salmon belly is my favorite! Somehow, it's buttery and delicious! Toro is an offering as well. You definitely get the best bang for your buck here. The omakases are so over-priced in Orlando. This place offers fresh, high quality sushi. I came here for a nice evening dinner with my friends as a recommendation from a regular and it did not disappoint. This place has passed my high bar for raw fish! I plan to become a regular. Love the cold tastings. I have tried the yuzu hamachi, seared tuna truffle, and the tuna kobachi. I liked them all but the yuzu hamachi and seared tuna truffle were the best. So glad they have funaguchi sake! I need to try more of their stuff but I've only been twice so far. My dinner partner tried the tonkatsu (fried, breaded pork cutlet) and I tried it but I think that dish is just not my kind of thing. I do not recommend that dish. The food was pretty good but the timing of the meals was horrendous. Three of our meals came out directly and were completely finished. Then 30 minutes later the other two peoples meals came! NOT COOL! We came as a family and we could not eat together. They REALLY need to time the sushi dishes with the hot meals. Put the hot meal order in first and then about 10 minutes before it's ready put the sushi order in! Duh! read more

Mikado Sushi is a hidden gem in central Florida and caught me by a pleasant surprise when it was recommended by my close friends who are regulars here. The ambiance of the restaurant was like an upscale izakaya place with intimate but ample space to comfortably enjoy all the good food with your friends and family. We were a party of six and the customer service was prompt, efficient, and professional. Today we ordered the Mikado platter, nigiri moriwases, TNT lover roll, tuna lover, drama queen roll, shrimp tempura app, hamachi Kama, nigiri platter, and Funaguchi sake. The quality of the fish here were really up there and very fresh. Mikado Sushi also had seasonal section in their menu where the customers can order exotic fish and other items that never been heard or seen before in other average sushi spots. Being from South Florida, I have been to plenty of decent sushi spots and I must say this one was up there in my list of favorites. The only thing that I was a little disappointed about is that all their nigiri's had bigger rice balls than I was used to, and none of them had any wasabi underneath the fish. Besides this minor personal preference not being accommodated, everything else was 5/5 stars. This restaurant offers enough parking space in the small plaza, but is limited so please keep in mind to avoid busy hours. We were kindly greeted by the hostess and had a party of 6. They were able to easily accommodate to us and we were seated immediately. The menu was only online and you had to scan a QR code which was a bit difficult to navigate because the menu was so vast and it was hard to remember what you wanted, so i wrote it in my phone. The restaurant was beautiful with a pretty mural of a fish etched into the wall. The food was divine. All of the fish was incredibly fresh and they offered items I didnt even know existed. It was a bit pricey but I understand why. I deducted a star because I do believe I got a bad reaction to the food. I woke up with severe fatigue and dizziness the morning after the raw sushi was eaten and I have never felt this way before. I am not 100% sure if it was what I ate, but there is no other reason I'd feel this way. I have just found my go to spot for sushi!! I almost don't want to review and gatekeep but they definitely deserve their spotlight moment. An unassuming restaurant in a plaza at Horizon West, this restaurant has everything you look forward to with sushi. The sushi was definitely fresh and the ingredients meld together so nicely. I was initially worried as I couldn't find a reservation online, but thankfully we were able to grab a couple seats at the sushi bar - BEST DECISION EVER. I always look forward to seeing the sushi chefs work their magic and see how the sushi is made. The servers are super friendly and checked up on us to make sure everything was delicious and if we needed any sauces or extra drinks. There was also a good mix of regulars and new comers there which makes the place all the more legit. Now for the food, we got the European Oysters and A5 Wagyu roll to start, WOW!!! The oysters were very fresh and huge; the uni, caviar, and the sauce was just top notch and brought in the right balance of sweetness and citrus. The A5 roll has truffle and caviar and wow that was an eye-rolling delicious masterpiece. By itself or even with sauces I have no criticism and would literally eat 10 rolls of it. Our main rolls: the bonsai roll was very refreshing. This roll doesn't have any rice but was the right balance as the sauce brought it so much balance and a slight citrus freshness. The Hawaii roll was sweet and pairs great with the spicy mayo. Soft shell crab was very tender and compliments nicely with the green fish eggs on top. The drama queen roll was the perfect balance of spicy and citrus and paired well with homemade eel sauce. Lastly, the mikado roll was also perfect, dipped soy sauce and you can't go wrong! We have found us a great place for Sushi... just finished up at Alt Social and needed to fill our tanks up. Lo and behold we found Mikado Sushi! They had good ratings and now I know why. Place was busy and I am glad we just made it an hour prior to their mid day break. They have great ambience, the servers took care of us right away, not having to wait too long for a food, and the food was delicious. We got the Tom Yong Kong soup, some edamame, along with three rolls. We got a standard California roll, a Mexican roll, and a Hawaiian roll. This is hands down the best sushi I've had. There's something about how fresh their fish is combined with the quality of their supplemental ingredients, such as truffle and caviar that just blows my mind. Keep in mind the prices reflect the quality and taste and IMO, they can take all my money. I ordered SO MUCH and every thing to me was a hit with an exception with one: the SCALLOP APPLE CARPACCHIO. For me, there were too many conflicting flavors. As for the items I can't stop raving about: highly recommend the BLUEFIN TUNA TASTING, HOKKAIDO SCALLOP NIGIRI, HON HAMACHI SASHIMI, KANPACHI SASHIMI, TORO OYSTER NIGIRI, TORO UNI HANDROLL, UNI SASHIMI, and absolutely recommend the WAGYU TASTING. Another delicious meal with my little family. We always have had good experiences here and the ambiance is calm and relaxing. Service is always been friendly and knowledgeable. Today my husband ordered his usual chicken fried rice that he even shared with our 2 1/2 year-old who loved it as well. One of the best sushi spots in Orlando, the yellowtail nigiri was exceptional and all the appetisers were extremely well made, the maki rolls were very good however one had a fried shrimp cracker garnish didn't really go but overall the fish was fresh, delicious and is for sure our go to spot. The service was quick and friendly our server gave us a warning sushi takes a while and we respected that and they were very knowledgeable. We visited Mikado on a Friday night. We had a reservation, so we were seated almost immediately. It's really dark in there, but the seats were fairly comfortable and it wasn't super loud. We started with an edamame, then I got a hand roll and a chirashi. The edamame weren't a super strong start for me. I felt that they didn't have much flavor beyond the spice. I would've loved something else in the flavor profile. The hand roll was a seasonal item and it was amazing. I honestly wish I would've had 3 of them. The chirashi was great, but it wasn't served as cold as I would've liked. It might be all in my head, but I prefer my chirashi very cold. The sake I got was also very good. The waitress was very attentive and very good at her job. I felt that she made great recommendations too. Would I go back to Mikado? Honestly I'm not sure. The food was great, and the service was awesome, but I think that there are a lot of really good sushi places down here, and mikado felt a little expensive for the food that we got. read more

I was really excited to go here, but I did even had the chance to take a sit here. I planned this with anticipation and I made a reservation for 8pm. I get there 40 minutes earlier than expected, because I knew it was going to be full for Valentine's Day. But even with all that work I couldn't make it. When I checked in they mentioned that they will let me know when a sit was available. At 8pm I went inside just to check and they said they were going to check me in at that moment. They had other people with reservations from 7:40 still waiting. I decided to leave. I don't understand what is the point of having reservations if you do not how to handle that. Terrible. read more

I'm bummed to say I didn't love this place as much as I wanted to. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is very friendly, but the dishes left a lot to be desired. The scallop nigiri was lacking in flavor and sweetness, and the roll I ordered had pepper slices (I think Serrano) with the seeds still in them. I was sitting at the sushi bar and saw that some prepared pepper slices had had their seeds removed so maybe this was a mistake, but I had to remove them or else the roll was nearly inedible. Melt in your mouth yellow tail, tuna and even octopus. Scallops sweet as I. Tokyo. The sake is sweeter than I recall but definitely more potent and larger portioned. So what's the problem. You guessed it. Prices are 30% higher and service is not as accomplished as I remember. The decor was minimal in the beginning and has back slid ever so slightly. We sat 10 minutes at the sushi bar before the wait staff noticed. All in all first-rate sushi with a price to match. Don't expect otoshi. We had to request ginger and wasabi from the waitress on an order in excess of $100. read more

This place was a phenomenal!! Very high quality ingredients and it shows. We saw one of the sushi chefs cut out a piece of nigiri or sashimi straight off a fish. It was really cool the watch. I'm almost always disappointed with takeout sushi, but that was not the case here. The quality was top-notch and this is now my go-to takeout spot for sushi. We went a little wild and indulged in multiple rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. They even have some BOGO roll offers on UberEats sometimes which is a great deal! So far we have loved the Out of Control roll (shrimp tempura, king crab, spicy tuna, yellowtail, eel, avocado, masago, scallion, eel and spicy sauce), the Drama Queen Roll (spicy tuna, avocado, tempura flakes, seared hamachi, sliced jalapeño, black tobiko, kimchi sauce), and the TNT Lover roll (spicy bluefin toro tartar, asparagus, tempura flakes, avocado, sriracha aioli, akami, truffle soy, shallots). Mmm that truffle soy is delish and I love the kick on the Drama Queen roll. Their Nigiri & Sashimi combo is a great way to try lots of various fish at a fair price ($42). The combo includes four pieces of nigiri, twelve pieces of sashimi, and one spicy tuna roll. It also includes miso soup or a salad. My husband and I love to share this. I can't believe it's taken me this long to discover my love for Mikado Sushi. When I lived in Orlando I always had the hardest time finding a good sushi spot to live up to the standards I had coming from South FL but I have to say, Mikado is a gem! What a great hidden gem! Our friends took us here for lunch sushi and it did not disappoint. It doesn't look like a 5-start restaurant from the outside but when you enter it's like tasting fish from Japan. There are a lot of seating options for the small restaurant. A table of 12 was accommodated near the booths. Not sure if they take reservations. We went for an early lunch. The menu is via QR code. Some items have pictures and some you may need to read. But I guarantee everything is delicious. Their service was also great. We were greeted very kindly. Other waitresses that weren't tending our table helped with dishes, water, and check. It was a great lunch dinning experience. We started with the Salmon sampler which came with a spicy salmon roll, seared salmon, and salmon sushi. I thought it would be a lot of salmon but the quality of salmon was so fresh, so good - it was almost not enough. We also ordered the Sashimi Lunch special which came with tuna, salmon, octopus, hamachi, and a really yummy scallop (omg). The fish here is so fresh and of great quality. I came on a Tuesday night and a reservation wasn't really necessary but the kind host made one anyway since there were 7 of us. Simple decor, clean. There is a sushi counter with seating and you can see the chefs at work. Everything we ordered was top notch.
