We did the 14 piece omakase and every bite was either very good or ridiculously good. This is such a great place to splurge a little and not regret it at all. It's definitely one of the more affordable omakase options I've found and I'd come back and do it all over again. Here are some of my favorites in case you just want to try a few à la carte pieces. 1. Kinmedai with tomato powder and yuzu kosho - this was rich, buttery, and full of umami contrasted with tomato powder and yuzu for a nice bright lift. 2. Tachiou with green chili crisp was slightly torched so it had that nice smokiness and a little rendered skin fat while the rest was super tender. I think this is the first time I've had this dish and will be looking out for it now. 3. King Salmon with truffle cream and miso sauce was so ridiculously delicious, rich, buttery, melt in your mouth goodness. 4. Hotate with spicy tobanjan aioli was smoky, sweet, spicy, and oh so creamy. 5. Uni from Japan was perfectly briny, sweet, and creamy. If you're an uni lover this is for you. If you tried it before and didn't like it, try it again here. Honorable mention for the spicy tuna maki. It's probably the best I've had. Seasoned with togarashi, I assume a little kewpie mayo, maybe green onion, and some pickled daikon. Perfect heat, fresh, and a nice crunch and lift from the pickled daikon. They have set seating times and limited counter seats so be sure to make a reservation. They're very welcoming and friendly. The vibe is casual, which I love -- just come as you are. read more

My husband and me went here the day before Valentine's Day for a date lunch. I haven't done omakase style before, so I really wanted to try it. For the uninitiated, omakase is when the chef makes your sushi, piece by piece and serves it to you to experience, one at a time. They also take the time to explain exactly what you're getting - the sauce, the type of fish, the garnishes, etc. This is not your - pour a bunch of soy and wasabi in a small dish and dunk experience. It's elevated, but not stuffy. They also do regular pieces of sushi and hand rolls, as well as some unique appetizers. The chef told me the sauce for their popcorn Hamachi appetizer literally is made from the popcorn from the shop next door. I love that they integrate the setting into the experience. I really wanted to try their omakase experience. They offer 2 versions - one is 10 piece and the other is 14 pieces. They both also come with a handroll and hot miso soup, either at the beginning or end of your meal. Our chefs for the day were Austin and Daniel. Their warm personalities and willingness to answer all my questions made the lunch so much fun. Austin encouraged us to eat with our fingers and provided a wet wipe for in between pieces. The sushi rice was perfectly warm and the fish was melt in your mouth amazing! All the little touches, sauces and garnishes were so perfectly subtle and balanced. It was truly one of the best meals we've had in years. My personal favorite piece was the scallop, lightly seared, slightly spicey and melt in your mouth - just simply amazing. They only have 8 or 9 seats, so you pretty much need reservations. We made ours through Open Table a few days ahead of time. They allow 90 minutes for a seating, so you have plenty of time to dine and experience the food. If they do have openings, you can scan the QR Code on the board next to the counter and get on the list. They also have a QR code so you can order drinks directly from Crooked Can Brewery to go along with your meal. The restaurant itself has sodas, water, etc. I had bought a Pineapple cider from Crooked Can before we sat down and enjoyed it with our meal. We plan to go back with our friends again soon. It's inside the Plant Street Market food hall. Make sure you have a reservation! The food hall is pretty busy with people passing behind you and there's only a few seats at this place. I've tried a lot of sushi and I can confidently say that this is hands down the best I've ever tried. Very fresh tasting and good quality fish. Everything is delicious -- in particular, their scallop is the one of the best I've ever tasted. Their preparation of white fish is also amazing; honestly, it beats out their toro for me. The Chef had no problems accommodating my having Celiac Disease. I was abke to eat here and I didn't experience any issues with cross contamination and I am extremely sensitive to gluten. I had a good range of items during my omakase and none of them were just a vegetable item. Every single one was a delicious perfectly cut piece of fish. The miso soup is also gluten-free and comes with the omakase. I wanted to treat my partner to a nice dinner and when I heard that this place compares to omakase in Japan I had to give it a try. I found a last minute reservation on Opentable and loved that it was a personal experience with just 8 seats. I ordered omakase and my partner a la carte. I loved every single one of my pieces, the king salmon by far was my favorite. They were out of wagyu which I was most excited about, but with the other pieces being so tasty I didn't mind missing out. My partner was gifted an extra piece because the chef wanted him to taste the same roll I was, and we both got to pick our favorite piece as an extra gift for celebrating our engagement. Because of that, once I wait they open at noon in a Friday, the only day I could go with my baby, I got there and I was told that I could not sit in any one those 5 empty chairs because they were expecting people. Ok. So can I make an order? I was told that I have to go online to place an order. I said that it will be one thing of everything, I could mark "x"s on the paper and done. NO! YOU HAVE TO DO ONLINE. Ok. I go outside, place the order after a while, and I need to make the payment. I was going to make the payment in cash, but I couldn't, because to order online, I need to complete the payment with card. Third disappointment. Four to and final disappointment, was the food. Maybe it is special when you sit in front of them and see them making and talking with you, but ordering and eating outside was just a regular and VERY expensive sushi. There are simply no bad things I could possibly say about this omakase. I've only had omakase one time before, and it wasn't the best experience, so you can imagine I was slightly nervous about running it back. I should also preface this with the fact that I'm not the biggest fan of raw fish. I'll eat it, but it's not my preference. (You might be wondering why I got omakase and I don't have an answer to that question other than that I am so glad I did) This fish tasted so clean and the flavors in each piece of sushi were so balanced and you could just TELL that it was all thought out so precisely. Some pieces were even torched and had this burnt flavor that just so happened to accompany the rest of the ingredients perfectly. There was such a blend of textures, ingredients, and seasonings. I really feel like no matter what words I use, I can't do these sushis justice. And where some omakase places make themselves fancy, Norigami is very lowkey and casual. It's bar seating, and you can watch the sushi chefs make their creations right in front of you in a down to earth environment. You'd literally never guess walking by that this place has insane sushi.
