The food is good quality and the prices are reasonable. My husband and I eat Keto so we always opt for the sashimi salad. Instead of the sesame dressing, I get the spicy mayo to use as a dressing since it has fewer carbs, if any. It makes the salad really yummy. The greens in the salad are always fresh. The service is good and attentive. I have to say that the owner trains his wait staff well. We like the restaurant so much that we've decided to make it a weekly thing. read more

Went there last night and very much considering doing again today. By far the best sushi in town. By far. Like really far. And we've got some great sushi places out here. Got the Alaska roll but they swapped the spicy tuna for real crab. I'm allergic to both imitation crab and spicy tuna so to have a place that was so allergy friendly is really nice. I'm grain free, Rainbow Rolland allergic to nightshades. It's so hard to go out to eat sometimes. I really appreciate all their no rice options, substitutions, and high quality product. This has been my go to sushi place in Camarillo for 7 years, and I have truly never had a negative thing to say about it, until recently. The food is always great, the service is beyond horrible. Ever since Covid, we always order takeout, we call in the order, they usually say it'll be about 50 minutes, we go to the store, the order is NEVER ready. This is a consistent problem. I'm left there waiting an additional 30-45 minutes at the store for my order.. they never apologize, never offer anything for the inconvenience, so this just seems to be the new thing they're okay with? As much as I like the food here, I'm gonna have to let them go and stop torturing myself every time I decide to give it another chance. read more

This place has gone majorly downhill. The food is good, but the customer service is not. I was over charged today because the employee got my order wrong over the phone. When I told her the order was incorrect and I had paid too much, instead of reversing the charge or making it right, she went and spoke to the chef and asked him to talk to me. The chef then explained to me in a condescending manner how I was in the wrong and what I ordered doesn't exist (a regular salmon roll, pretty straightforward). He did this in front of a restaurant with other diners present, which I didn't appreciate. I decided to just walk out and not waste time arguing with them any further. I ordered a Teriyaki Salmon Plate and Veggie tempura. First off the plate was 23$ and the tempura was 6$. Already outrageously expensive. When I opened my vegetable tempura, I was greeted with 4 tiny pieces of vegetables. Definitely not worth 6$. Then come to my salmon plate. The rice is mushy, soup is cold, and there was the smallest portion of salmon. The salmon was the driest fish i've ever had, almost crunchy. Disgusting and so disappointed. What a waste of 32$. Just ok. I live just down the street and have been to every restaurant in this shopping center, but never here. Seemed like they were always a bit slow so it made me wonder if I should even try it.(plus I had my favorite other sushi spots) Tried it tonight and just wasn't impressed! It wasn't "bad", it was the most unenthusiastic and "plain" sushi restaurant I have ever been to! Upon entering on this Friday night, there were very few customers. None of the sushi guys said anything to us upon entering. We did get a nice hello from a young waiter and he sat us. A waitress came by shortly after and gave us a half hearted "Hi", (she seemed like she didn't want to be there). The selection of rolls was basic. My wife ordered a combo dinner and the chicken was over cooked. As fast as it came out I suspect it was reheated! It took so long for my order of sushi rolls to come out I didn't dare order more. Plus, it is pretty difficult to order more when the waitress never came back to check on us!!! So - bottom line... gave it 3 stars for the sushi only. But I'm unlikely to come back for the service was lacking and my wife wasn't crazy about her meal (non-sushi person) read more

This is the second time i went there. The first time was not that great the second was worse. The positive thing was the waitress was friendly and attentive. I sat in the last booth in the back. The seats had rips part of the wall was exposed and falling onto the table .TAKE CARE OF YOUR RESTAURANT INVEST TO UPGRADE. IT LOOKS DIRTY. Now the food i ordered the Bento box came on a plate! This was the WORSE one i have ever had. The miso soup was flavorless . The chicken on the plate looked like it was cut from a Costco chicken then put some of Kens teriyaki sauce on it. The tempura what a joke it looked like the cheapest vegetable and seafood you could buy and the batter awful and warm. The pork Katsu couldn't be worse deep fried small not fresh. When I asked about the price difference i was told they dont have a menu they post. Well how the hell was i able to know what to oder then. The food is good, nothing special. We came in and there was only one other party and after ordering, it took a while for us to receive our 3 rolls. The rolls were good but the portions were small for the price!! I've been to places with better portions that are actually worth the price. This place is only a few blocks from my home. This place was good! The prices were nice! I got the dinner special which is only about 11 dollars and the price for the rainbow roll was one of the cheapest I've seen (its my favorite roll) Our waitress was nice but unfortunately the chef had forgotten to make part of my order, in which she gave me 15% off the total bill. Then it came out very fast. I appreciate that fast fix! The taste of the teriyaki chicken was good. I hope to come back and try their udon! read more

My Go-To Japanese restaurant in our small Camarillo. The food is amazing, fresh and so tasty. No need for the overly pazz-zed and oversized rolls like the other places - each roll is a great size for its price. The owner keeps the same great tasting rolls on the menu. My kiddo has grown up eating Mika for over 10 years, and always puts a smile on his face when Mika is the choice for dinner - that's tough for a 14 year HS boy. I didn't plan on giving this place 4 stars. From what I remembered the last time I went, I didn't really enjoy it. However, I came here again for dinner with my folks and found myself really enjoying their sushi. They really don't have much presentation when it comes to regular sushi. But that's commonplace for sushi bars. You usually only get pretty features when you order featured rolls or specials. I got shiro maguro (albacore tuna, or white tuna), hamachi (yellowtail), sake (salmon), and inari (sweet bean curd). Each piece, save the inari, was delectable and fresh tasting. The rice was at the perfect softness without mushiness and without the deal-breaking hard grain. In addition, as a strict policer of overly-seasoned sushi rice, I have to say that their sushi rice was subtle and perfectly complementary to the freshness of the fish. Mika Sushi has soft lighting, really nice seating, and an overall comfortable feel. They also take pride in serving high end sake, but I wouldn't really know since Nihon-shu isn't my poison of choice. My folks like this place. I have to say it's pretty good and definitely a better alternative to Sushi Planet. read more

We've all had bad days and maybe it just so happened that I visited them on one of theirs. Ordered chicken teriyaki with California roll, friend had beef teriyaki with California roll. The meat wasn't even remotely hot, both the beef and the chicken were very thinly sliced so the flavor of the teriyaki sauce was all that we got. The California rolls were very bland. Bland color, bland flavor, just bland. Service from our waitress was bad, she never brought out the bowl of miso soup until I asked the bus girl for it nor did she ever check on us. It makes me sad to write this review because I have been a customer for over 5 years and I like supporting small local businesses. But service has declined dramatically. After waiting 75 mins for a pick-up order that was supposed to be ready in 25 mins, I have decided to give up on this restaurant. I don't mind planning ahead and waiting, as a business you should be honest about the actual wait time. This is now the third time I have been burned by their obvious and vocal disdain for DoorDash orders and experienced what now seems like intentional wait times of over an hour or more when quoted 30 mins. As soon as I say I'm there for a pick-up and they ask if it's DoorDash, it's like a switch and the staff becomes incredibly rude and snarky. Recent reviews share similar experiences, so I am done. I love the food, but I won't come back until the service improves. read more

Portion sizes were so big enough to share and the flavor of the Udon noodle was amazing! I'm thankful to have found a Japanese Restaurant that has tofu to help with our dietary needs.
