Really solid, but simple, blt that let each ingredient shine. I think the biggest selling point for them was the thick cut, fresh, juicy tomato. The bacon was also plentiful and crispy. I would've loved more lettuce and less bacon but I think this is a highly personal preference. The bread was also chewy and not too thick or crusty. It was what the sandwich needed. I will say the overall impression is on the wetter side so I don't think it will sit well as leftovers.
Finally had the opportunity to try Mighty Bread and though the line ~11:45AM on a Saturday was out the door and the order took ~20 minutes to fill, the wait was worth it for: - A delicious Marilyn's Meatball sandwich (perfect sesame-seed hoagie roll!), - An awesome rye chocolate chip cookie (not too sweet!), - A terrifically sourdough-y Corn Porridge Sourdough bread (perfect with homemade soup!), and - A solid Italian hoagie (sesame ciabatta, our hoagie spread, gabagool, prosciutto cotto, salami, provolone, shredduce, onion, peperoncini vinaigrette). The L-shaped line goes past shelves of local merchandise, which is fun to peruse or indulge in and the bakery options are beautifully tempting (will need to return to try more!). The dining area is cozy, but between the people taking out and the wait for the food, for the most part tables seemed to open up for those who wanted to dine in.
The Mighty Bread Bakery & Café is an excellent addition to the neighborhood. Ambience: small quaint location that is great for friends and family. The morning rush was real. Literally, the line was out the door. Food & Products: All of their muffins and croissants are fresh and flavorful. They have a nice variety of bakery goods, and my children even fell in love with the bakery buddy plushy. My wife and I even purchased a cutting board that would be a great addition to our kitchen. Overall: 5/5 stars I look forward to being a patron for years to come.
This is actually one of my favorite places in Philly. I don't say that lightly. This is a town full of good food, but Mighty Bread is phenomenal. Get over here. My friend lives nearby and brought a couple of us in here with a plan to get some meat, some cheese, and a loaf of their excellent bread for a little fancy brunch. We walked out with ALL THE THINGS. There was a line around the beautiful, bright shop (with lots of good seating) which walks you by all sorts of fun and delicious items for purchase, and we couldn't resist. In addition to the meat/cheese/bread, we also got: The Sungold Panzanella - bread salad from the bread place is a no brainer. The Big Lil' Biscuit - quite possibly the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. It's a truly incredible buttery biscuit with smoked cheddar, bacon jam, egg, and ketchup gastrique. The fanciest bacon egg and cheese, and goddamn was it good. The Italian Hoagie - simply a perfect Italian combo on fresh sesame ciabatta. It's got all the meats and cheeses, but also something called hoagie spread, shredduce (I appreciate the economy of this word), and a peperoncini vinaigrette that ties it all together. This sandwich lives in my dreams. All of these things are incredible, and we also grabbed a yogurt parfait (excellent), a quiche, temporary bread tattoos for my kids, some avocado for my kids, and this was me using restraint (not getting the logs of cookie dough, or another sandwich. I love this place.
More than thrilled to have one of my favourite sourdough bakery relatively closer to me than their South Philly location. They are located at the former J'aime Bakery in Rittenhouse (corner of 17th and Pine). They just opened this location, and I went around 2pm and they were all sold out of their bread Instead I bought tahini blondie, rye chocolate chip cookie, and oat chocolate cookie. It is a small space inside and there were about 6 customers in there. The employees were very pleasant and helpful. I am guessing their loaves of bread were sold out because they just opened. Just to be on a safer side I would get there earlier in the day if you want some bread. **I created a new business for Mighty Bread Grab & Go, but somehow my review came to the original Mighty Bread
Came for a quick weekend breakfast / brunch and shared the breakfast sandwich with mushrooms, the Meyer lemon focaccia with burrata, and an iced caramel latte. Overall good food - personally I found the sandwich to be a bit too "eggy" but that's a me problem, my husband enjoyed it. I liked the focaccia but wish it had been sliced lengthwise and turned into some sort of burrata sandwich. Coffee was good but needed a couple pumps of extra simple syrup. Service was a bit slow but they had tons of to-go orders so mostly understandable.
I will always love this place. It always is perfect. The staff is amazing. Vibes are amazing. Both locations are friendly and clean and fantastic. The food is even better. You don't want to miss out on this.
Mighty bread is a great bakery hidden away on a side street. They have some tables inside as well as a courtyard outside with seating. There is a market goods section with all sorts of food items, ingredients, or merch and gifts for sale. Many selections are available here to choose from for breakfast, lunch, a tasty treat, or drinks. Pretty busy but the line moves quick enough. The apple cheddar sandwich was delicious, most notably the bread. Apples sliced perfectly with a sharp cheddar and a sweet mustard spread, the perfect size for a nice lunch. Also had one of the huge cookies that was soft and sweet. Definitely want to try a few more things from the menu. Thanks
As always, mighty bread company amazes me! I got a scrambo plate this time and you can taste the quality of the ingredients. The turkey sausage was incredibly moist and flavorful, the potatoes crispy and divine, the eggs were fluffy (and the color, a deep orange, I know they source their eggs locally!) and of course, the best bread. It saddens me that they don't own their own donut shop because they truly are good enough to have their own storefront.
I have been wanting to try Mighty Bread for FOREVER and finally got myself there this morning. My very cool, very fun, very awesome friend Isabel works here, so I knew the vibes would be (almost) as cool, fun, and awesome. The smell of this place is special, as are the cute market products, the seating availability, and the menu. I tried the chocolate chip cookie and the quiche. The only thing I have to say is how dare you? The cookie was fabulous - super soft and I loved the salty center. But the quiche is the best I've ever had. I went with the seasonal option that had asparagus and goat cheese. Mind blown. Incredibly flakey crust, sumptuous fillings, all around incredible MOUTH EXPERIENCE. Will want to eat everyday, will have to settle for sweet treat occasions. See you all the time Mighty Bread! A new fave Philly eatery for this girl has entered the villa.
One of the best bakeries I've ever been to. The cauliflower pastry was so delicious. I also really liked the biscuit sandwich. The biscuit was onw of the best I've had and the egg was so good too. The cruffin was orange and cranberry. That was also super yummy. Service was good and the store was cute.
Amazing bread. My favorite in the city now My mom is a huge fan of the giant and I mean giant sourdough rye round bread. The whole thing is $15 but you can buy it in halves and quarters too! I loved the French onion soup even when it's not the weather for it. Delicious baguettes too!!!
One thing Philly is good for is small hipster eateries and Mighty Bread is one of those. We came here with a group of friends and had just planned to grab a loaf for dinner later that night but we ended up staying for some menu items. The place is nice and open, everyone is friendly and has an opinion on what you should get. I ended up getting the Spicy braised pork sandwich, it was topped off with chili honey, pickled cabbage and avocado as well. Tasty sandwhich so I would say their other sandwiches are just as good. If you're in the neighborhood and want a bite of something I would swing by. read more

Amazing service and amazing food! I love the chill and cozy vibes their restaurant gives. They have an assortment of dry goods and cool gifts you can buy as well. Their sandwiches are the best! And rye chocolate chip cookies are top tier for me. My husband and I just had their kale salad and although it contains dried cherries (he dislikes cherries), he thought it tasted great with the kale. The salad is plentiful, too. Gets pretty busy during lunch hour, so be prepared. I also had their egg sando with turkey sausage which was pretty hefty - they truly hook you up with scrambled eggs and sausage! Their sourdough makes the best sandwiches... I wish I lived on their block, hah. read more

Mighty Bread is aptly named - tucked away on a tiny residential street, the bakery makes the most of its tight quarters, with shelves piled high with freshly baked loaves, tins of fish and jars of jam, bread proofing baskets, and little bakery-themed plushies. And all of the baked goods, from the loaves of bread, to the doughnuts, to the croissants, are mighty delicious! Our favorite thing to order is the seasonal focaccia with stracciatella cheese (basically super soft burrata). In the summer, the focaccia is studded with sweet cherry tomatoes, and in the winter, it is topped with crisp-edged, thin slices of potato and sprigs of rosemary. (The first bite of the potato focaccia was literally one of the best things we ate this year.) We also like the scrambo platter, though I will say that at a bakery as good as Mighty Bread, I personally prefer to order things that feature more bread. Service is always super friendly, and though the line is almost always out the door on the weekends, it moves fast. We always opt to dine in - and somehow we always find seating. Afterwards, to stretch the wonderful Mighty Bread weekend experience into the week, I love taking a loaf of the rosemary peppercorn or the sesame home. read more
Lately we've been on a sourdough kick (no we are not ready to go on our own sourdough journey) and absolutely need it at times. Googled sourdough Philadelphia and voila - recommended by many as the best sourdough in the city so we obviously had to check it out. They're located on this cute small side street that I walk by ALL the time yet I never noticed it. Anyway, the bakery is super cute and the employees were all so friendly. And yes the bread was delicious. Will be back to try addl items. read more

We walked two miles from downtown Philly just to try Mighty Bread, it came highly recommended by friends and when we found out it was nominated for a James Beard award we knew we had to try it. It was well worth the walk! When we arrived shortly after opening there was a line already beginning to wrap around the dining room. The line moved fairly quickly and when it was our turn to order I decided on a chocolate croissant and chai latte and my partner got a fruit danish and a latte. The pastries were AMAZING, the drinks were good too but the highlight of our visit was definitely the pastries. My croissant was so perfectly flakey and the fruit danish was not only so beautiful but so tasty as well. Mighty Bread lives up to their high praise and if we were visiting Philly again we would absolutely make the long walk again just to indulge in their amazing treats! read more
I came with my friends to try some yummy fall pastries from Mighty Bread Co, a super cute James Beard Nominated Bakery. I got this seasonal pumpkin pie danish, savory squash danish, spiced morning bun, and ginger molasses cookie, paired with a scrumptious oatmilk latte. I also tried their kale salad, which was a little salty for my tastebuds. The inside is super spacious and cute. read more

I went there Sunday noonish. The place was packed. The atmosphere of the pace was nice. There was also a line to order the food. While I was waiting in line , I tried to see around on what should I ordered. All I know while I was waiting , there was lady announced "3 biscuits left !" Not too long "2 biscuit left!". That exact time , I was already in front of the cashier. She asked what do I want to order. I said "the biscuit" . So I ordered that and iced matcha latte to go. I gave 4 stars because the matcha latte taste horrible. It tasted like water. It wasn't good at all. The biscuit was good, not great. Service was awesome . I will definitely be going back again to try more of their breads and sandwiches read more

I'd been meaning to get to Mighty Bread since forever, and I finally went today to get a sourdough loaf to make stuffing for Thanksgiving. They had a $5, 500 gram, pre-cubed bag of day old bread for stuffing, genius and perfect!!! I also got a coffee (which was not great but whatever they're not a coffee shop) and an Italian hoagie. I am a life long Philadelphian and I think this is the best Italian hoagie I've ever had. Generous amount of meat and cheese, perfectly pickly and spicy condiments, sesame ciabatta was to die for. It's also so cute and nice in there, and the line was long but I had a lovely time browsing all the cool products they had for sale. I wish I'd come here sooner!!! read more

It's hard to name a menu item that stands out more than others, everything is exceptional at Mighty Bread. Today we had a Tozzino, Mighty Bird, Big Lil' Biscuit, and Pecan Coffee Cake. Everything was great, definitely one of my favorite Thanksgiving leftover sandwiches I've tried. All-time favorite menu items include: Concord grape focaccia, ham & butter baguette, and donut filled with blood orange curd. read more

Great place for a quick weekend brunch. The tomato pie was amazing and so was the avocado toast. The croque madame was heavy and a bit too cheesy for my liking but the flavor was good. Coffee was refreshing! Staff is smiling and super nice. The place had a bit of a line for brunch, but it was fast moving. We'll be back here to try more of their bakery items! :) read more
This place is worth the wait! We originally came on Saturday, but the line was so long that it roped around the entire establishment that we left. We came back the following day to a more manageable line and are so happy to have returned. I wasn't sure what to expect since it's a bread company, but my favorite thing that I tried was the seasonal quiche. Take my word, it is THE BEST quiche I have had in a very long time. The crust is flaky and crispy and the side salad was a perfect contrast of light freshness. We also tried the cheese and apple sandwich which was extremely tasty. The baguette tasted fresh and crunchy. Lastly, I felt like we should try a pastry since it was a bread company and tried a croissant. Definitely don't recommend the croissant. It was so dry and tasted over cooked. There were many other breakfast items I wished I had tried, so hold off on the croissant and try another savory item off the menu. The interior had a very cool industrial feel. They had seating indoors and a bench outside for waiting for takeout. read more

The only place that I get my sourdough from. PERIOD. I live in North Philly and I will ALWAYS travel down if I am out of bread. Recommend to come in a bit earlier. I usually come in around 2PM, and my favorite loaf will either be sold out or I snapped the last one. Rosemary and peppercorn ( I did snap the last one today) is my fav. Aromatics from the rosemary and the spiciness from the peppercorn was nicely done. Perfect for soup or simply with scrambled eggs. Country and toasted sesame are my go to as well. At last, I will ALWAYS grab a donut. Today, I was planning for the Tahini Cream, however the person in front of me got the last one, so I got the Blueberry & Blood orange with cardamom. I was craving baked goods, and I had brunch at Mighty Bread. Everything looked good, from the loaves of sourdough to the pastries. They've also got hot breakfast foods like scrambled and toasts. I ordered the matcha latte ($4) and the croque monsieur ($10). I also shared a brownie ($5). The latte had a thick matcha topping, and the brownie was incredible. So dense and chocolatey, plus it was as big as a brick. Even between two of us, we couldn't finish. The croque monsieur was piping hot, with the perfect combination of salty ham topped with cheese and cream sauce. You pay at the counter and then grab a seat. read more

This place is great! Lots of people were working there. The iced chai and the avocado toast with smoked salmon were both delicious. The chocolate chip cookie wasn't for me, but it did say it was a "rye" or "wheat" cookie, so that's on me for thinking it was going to taste like a regular chocolate chip cookie. read more

Consistently delicious food - what more can you ask for? My go-to item from their menu is actually their kale salad - it is SO GOOD. Even if you are the type of person who doesn't normally like or eat salads, you will love this one. You can't go wrong ordering any of their breads/pastries/desserts either. I highly recommend checking this place out either just to grab a coffee and pastry to go or for sitting and having a nice lunch with a friend. read more

We happened to stumble upon Mighty Bread Company when exploring breakfast / lunch options near Passyunk, and we are so glad we did! The spot is completely hidden on an unassuming side street near Passyunk, so if you didn't know it existed, you probably never would. Even before getting in, the ambience is lovely - lots of trees and a cute outdoor space for customers that fits right into the neighborhood vibe. We made our way here late in the morning / early afternoon on a Saturday, and we were pleased that there was really no line once we got indoors. The indoor vibe is a bit more industrial than the outskirts, but we loved the simplicity and casualness of the spot. While waiting to place an order, we checked out their store offerings (some apparel, some cooking / baking goodies, etc.) and their variety of breads. We had plans right after brunch, so we unfortunately did not cash in on a loaf of any of their breads, but definitely will be back to try some! We focused on their menu items for our meal; while the menu was small, there were a variety of options from loaded toasts to more substantial toasts. I opted for a ricotta toast with peaches and honey - it was incredibly seasonal, the ricotta was fresh, and the bread was a great balance of toasty, chewy, dense, and light. I enjoyed it! My only complaint was that for the price, I was expecting a bit more (a second piece of toast with toppings? a thicker slice?), since I was sad when it was over. My husband went for the prosciutto sandwich on ciabatta, which he loved - having a few bites, I think he made the better menu choice than I did! We washed it down with a few coffees, which were standard but good. I would definitely make it back to Mighty Bread to try both a loaf of bread and a sandwich instead of a toast to get a more well-rounded experience - oh, and a pastry! Would love to visit in the summer time so I can appreciate their cute outdoor area. Recommend Mighty Bread for anyone looking for an off-the-beaten path bakery with a variety of options! read more

I came here on a Saturday morning 30 minutes after opening and there was already a line wrapping around multiple streets. It took me about an hour to get to the entrance but WOW was it worth it. The sourdough here is absolutely amazing, one of the best breads I've had. The outside is perfectly crisp and crunchy without being too hard, and the inside is incredibly tender and chewy. Honestly perfect for any way you decide to use it. They also have a lot of different toasts, sandwiches, pastries, among various specials throughout the year that I haven't yet had the chance to try. But if it's anything like their sourdough, then I'm sure I'll be raving about mighty bread all over again. read more

We stopped by on Sunday afternoon. It was busy but we had no problem getting a table. We ordered avocado toast, mozzarella and prosciutto sandwich and latte. Food looked beautiful and everything was delicious. My husband's sandwich was big and had lots of mozzarella and prosciutto. My avocado toast was amazing and egg on top was cooked perfectly. Latte was beautiful and had great taste and good foam. Everyone was very friendly. We would definitely come back. read more
