Went in to get a very outgrown set of acrylics removed, plus regular manicure . Guy sanded down then proceeded to use another acrylic nail from a box and pry the remaining nail off. It hurt but not too much. He then did the manicure. I requísese clear mail polish. Woman I believe is the owner tried to convince to get dip manicure cause "it's better for your nails", as if. I had to remind guy during ma invite that he forgot to file nails on my left hand. He filed then polished my nails. Two hours later polish looked grainy. My second time visiting this establishment, although my sister goes there, my daughter has gone there and a few of my friends go there, I will definitely let them know about my experience. They have a sign in the window that clearly states five dollars off, the last time I was there I had a pedicure, which did not qualify for the five dollars off you needed a manicure pedicure, no chip, which is fine I understand. Today I had a manicure and a pedicure, no chip, as I was paying I pointed to the sign. They told me no that It did not apply to me, I asked why the lady told me that its for acrylic. I said that's not what you told me last time I was here you said it was for a manicure pedicure no chip, then she had asked the owner and the owner told me no I did not qualify because they put some nail glue on two of my broken fingernails before the no chip. I just looked at her in disbelief, I told her that I would not return to spend my money in an establishment that clearly doesn't care about customer service, the only reason that I went there it was a little shorter drive than my usual nail salon, literally told me I didn't qualify for the discount because of two drops of nail glue, that's all they used on two of my nails. No chip doesn't last even 4 days. my natural nails grow beautifully so I always go with a no chip to help keep them strong. Went to this salon for a no chip on a thursday and nail paint completely peeled of by Tuesday. Not even the normal chipping, complete peel off. Called and they were nice enough to do them again. Had the same problem didn't last 4 days the second time around. And to make matters worse my nails are completely damaged and fragile now. I called for a polish change on a Wednesday a little before noon. Price was quoted and I was told I could come any time. I headed over and was taken right away, there was one other customer there. Shop is clean, there's a pint sized Hello Kitty pedi chair in addition to the adult chairs. Tech was pleasant and soft spoken. Her English was good despite her accent, no communication problems. Old polish was removed, minor touch up on an errant hangnail, light filing, then base coat, two coats of polish, and top coat applied. Plenty of time for drying allowed! Street parking. I've been here MANY times. This is a local salon. They open at 10 & I arrived at 10:15 on a Thursday & see 3 ahead of me. I wait 10 minutes before I'm directed to a pedicure station, where I wait a 1/2 HOUR before a tech starts my pedicure. 45 MINUTES LATER I am directed to a manicure station where I WAIT AGAIN for a fill & witness several manicure-only customers who came in AFTER me get manicures BEFORE me. During this ridiculous wait, the female owner or supervisor (I don't know her name) comes over to tell me, "Thank you for waiting!" But I think, why must I wait when I was here before all these people? When she makes a point to scurry over to say this to me SEVERAL times during this 45 minute wait, I start thinking something isn't right & I'm being forced to wait on purpose. Why? I am not confrontational or mean or bitchy & NEVER have been AT THIS SALON! Finally a male tech starts my fill & as he works, he chats in Vietnamese to the male tech next to him. Any regular nail salon patron knows this isn't unusual & I wasn't bothered by it. Until boss-lady walks over ti me again and says, "They are talking about their girlfriends." I say, "Uh...ok." "You understand? They talk about girlfriends, like American men do." She continues as f this is something I had asked her. I wonder why she feels the need to explain this to me? I could care less. Then it dawns on me. A few years ago, I posted a DESERVED negative review on a suburban salon called MAGIC NAILS, when a moron male nail tech made fun of another customer. Imagine my shock hearing boss lady at MIDWAY regurgitate MY negative review from two years ago on MAGIC NAILS?? Or how she made a point to tell me about the techs talking about their girlfriends, "like American men do." Moral of this story: MIDWAY NAILS took offense with my review of MAGIC NAILS. In this country, we enjoy a right to identify & share info on bad businesses & services. The thing is, my review of MAGIC NAILS has nothing to do with Midway! Midway Nails & Spa is a popular place where I'm from, I decided to check it out because unfortunately my usual nail technician was all booked for the week. I had entered right when they opened and was the first customer of the day. I'm unsure of the name of the woman who helped me, but she assisted me right away. The women and men who work there are very nice; however, communication of what I wanted with my nails was just a little difficult because some of the staff doesn't speak fluent English. For the nails themselves, the woman who was working on my nails did a good job shaping them. When it came to polishing them, is when it went south. The polish had air bubbles and were painted on sloppy, they also were clumpy. A younger woman had came and fixed them up while the lady originally working on my nails went to go assist someone with a pedicure. Which was gross because she didn't even wash her hands after having all my nail dust all over her fingers, she only dusted it off with a towel. From there the lady came and fixed my nails, smoothing them out, etc, and did some great nail art! I will say though, that they didn't fully follow through with the color I wanted for my nails. I want a beige chrome color, and they did a white chrome color. I was charged $60, and for $60 I do believe I should've gotten the closest color possible. Went here today with my best friend and it was wonderful. Everyone there is super nice and very friendly. We waited about 5 minutes maybe less to be taken. Great place!!! I live in Valparaiso, Indiana and was in the area visiting my sister. As a runner who runs 4-5 miles a day, six to seven days a week, I was in dire need of a pedicure!!! I was a walk-in. Service was great. I didn't wait long at all. An older lady did my pedicure; I went for the deluxe since my feet were in pretty bad shape. This woman did such an amazing job! It was close to closing time and she didn't rush at all; and not once did she make me feel embarrassed of my feet! I've thought long and hard before leaving a review. I've never left a negative before and I didn't want to be mean but I've honestly had a horrible experience. I walked in a bit late 40 mins before closing. I asked the woman if it was too late to do my nails and she told me no. She told me to sit and wait. It was already 8pm and there was still people ahead of me. I was about to head home and she told me to sit and wait and so I did It was 8:40 and this other woman started on my nails. I told her 4 times that I wanted fake nails a full set and she still continued to destroy my cuticles. She left them bleeding and open without disinfecting it before adding the set of nails in the wrong shape I asked for. She laughed about making me bleed and then left me until 9:20 to do another girls nails while she was in the middle of doing mine. She also was being rude to me and did a rushed and botched job with my nails. My fingers still hurt 5 days later and my left ring finger is infected with pus. Not to mention that their work stations are unclean and covered in 'dust' which we all know is everyone's old finger nail residue. Went in on a Sunday at around 1. I called in beforehand to ask if they were accepting walk ins, the lady said yes but never told me they had a long wait time. I went into the nail salon and they sat me on a chair and told me to choose a color. I found it weird that a lot of people were sitting in chairs waiting and then I realized they were understaffed and I was gonna be waiting for a while. Wish they would've at least said I had to wait an hour to be serviced. What I really hated the most was that staff DID NOT WASH THEIR HANDS BETWEEN CLIENTS. They sat people right next to eachother and had no kind of COVID precautions. The man who did my nails went from doing someone's pedicure to doing my manicure without cleaning his hands. Their equipment looked like they never cleaned it either. I wanted to run out!! I had a no chip color that needed to be soaked off and the man was extremely rough I couldn't stand the pain as he was filing down the polish. I have never ever felt so much pain while getting a soak off. He kept going over my cuticles with the rough file. He made a couple if my cuticles bleed and then kept touching my open cuts with his dirty hands which i'm now concerned about. While getting my manicure, a random man walked to the back of the salon and it seemed very suspicious that he paid a staff member for something he gave him from a closet in the back. Felt really unsafe. Other than that, polish was put on fine but even though this place is 5 minutes away from this house, I would never come back again. read more

I visited Midway Nails & Spa for the first time recently. I got there and was the only one waiting with around 5 people sitting at the nail desks getting their nails done. I asked if I could get a gel manicure. They told me to sit and wait while they got ready, which I was fine with. What I didn't like is how when another girl, asking for the same service came in, she immediately got sat. She never mentioned having an appointment, so I don't think that was the case. When I did get sat and asked if I should choose my polish from the wall, the guy doing my nails and the guy next to him laughed at me and just handed me the nail swatches. The two men continued to laugh throughout the whole service. The polished were also very limited. I chose a color after looking a few times. The lady sitting next to him was trying to persuade me to get acrylics to length added to them, even though I said I wanted it done on my natural nails. Then he started to prep my nails, which he did not use nail polish remover on every nail even though they all had polish on them. Some he just scratched the polish off, which just doesn't make sense to me. Then I looked over and saw that next to the stack I was shown, there were more stacks with the colors I wanted. I asked if I could see those as well, to which he seemed very annoyed even though he hadn't even gotten the Polish I told him before. I don't understand why they wouldn't show you all of the possibilities you can get, instead of limiting you to the stack they choose. I noticed that while I had my hands on the desk, there was that grainy feel from the persons before me left over nail, which is absolutely disgusting. When it came to filing my nails, he never once asked me the shape or length I wanted, which other salons always ask. The filed them SO SHORT! Short enough that he hit the nerve of a few of my nails and they started to burn. I was in the process of growing out for a few weeks and I was very happy with the length. They were all above my skin, but after this they're all so far under where my finger ends. It looked like they were chopped so far down. My nails were also filed uneven and few were lopsided. There are also rough edges left on my nails. When applying the polished and any other prep they do for gel, he was very rushed and wouldn't apply it to my whole nail. He kept missing spots, which made it uneven and lighter in certain spots. The manicure costed $30+ tip, which I have no problem paying if it is deserved. This however should not have costed $30! I was laughed at, my nails are so short, and I just over felt very uncomfortable the entire service. I will not be returning nor suggesting this place to anyone in the future. I came here because it is so much closer to my house than my usual place (being only 2 minutes from my house) but I would much rather drive the 20 minutes then come here again. read more

However, I came in for a pedicure and full set before my work trip tomorrow. The pedicure took so long I decided to not get the full set. Now I'll go home and do my own and hope for the best. The man who did it also cut my toe so afterwards it burned so bad whenever he used polish remover or what they spray on your feet before polish.
