Here's the deal: If you are gonna be an Italian restaurant, make the pasta good!! I wish I could have liked this place!! The Caesar salad was the best thing of the night. My two friends ordered the cacio e Pepe and it tasted like nothing. No flavor! Or color. It was sad. The bread was sup par I would not pay for it again. However the burrata was good!!! I got the shrimp in vodka sauce and the sauce and shrimp had good flavor but the pasta was so underdone. I understand the term aldente, but this was not it. I am a huge fan of Cafe Medure and finding out they had an Italian sister property just 15 min away, I just had to give this place a try. Wow, it did not disappoint. I came for Happy hour and stayed for dinner. The restaurant is bright and airy and definitely popular. The aromas of the pizzas baking and the sizzle of the garlic in the background make your mouth water for what is to come. We went to Midtown for happy hour and they did not disappointment. The restaurant itself has a fun bistro type setting with an awesome view of the kitchen. It was open and welcoming. We elected to sit at the bar. The setting there would be my one complaint about Midtown. The seats are far to close together and the chairs could be more comfortable. We were stuffed in like sardines. The bartenders were awesome, however. They didn't miss a beat on drinks. We order the meat pizza and lasagna. The pizza dough had a wonderful flavor and a nice crunch. The sauce was tangy and tasty. I don't think we'd order the meat one again though. It was just too much fatty meat. We'd definitely do one of the others. The lasagna was the star. It's a 7-layer lasagna. You definitely need the bolognese sauce in your life. The dish comes together wonderfully. As a Sicilian, I'd recommend. Also, even though Yelp says they have arancini, they don't have them daily. The server said they only have them every so often. That was disappointing. I made reservations, since I wasn't sure about staffing limitations or seating. Friendly greeting and conversation to table ... Service was exceptional. We decided to try this place for lunch on a Saturday. The place has an open concept which I really love. The kitchen is open so you can see everything going on. Very modern vibes with nice decor and a cool looking bar area. Upon arrival, we were sat quite quickly despite being told that they were understaffed. We didn't mind that as we were planning on chatting for a while and catching up. Even though they were understaffed, we thought the service was great! Our waitress Alaina was attentive and friendly, and food came out relatively fast. We got the truffle fries for the table which were amaaaazing! Easily my favorite item we tried. I got the margarita pizza, and my family got the Italian panini and the vegetable panini. Everyone was very happy with their food. You can tell they use really fresh ingredients for everything. We did mention to the waitress that it was someone's birthday and nothing special was done. We were fine with that, but if you're expecting something, that is just a heads up. We made reservations for my birthday dinner and were so excited to try Midtown Table. Our reservations were for outside. We arrived at 7 and were seated immediately on the patio. The area was gorgeous with tables, lights, and a wonderful grassy area with large yard games, seating and a little putting green. So cute. Our server was Austin, and he. was. phenomenal. He was welcoming, congenial, and incredibly well-versed in the menu selections. We asked for suggestions and recommendations, and he delivered each time. My husband ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir for the table and I asked for cocktail advice. Austin said his favorite was the Gin-e-se-qua and so I went with it. I *like* gin, but honestly, I wouldn't have even known. This cocktail was delicious, gorgeous, and simply perfect. The wine rec was also on point. For appetizers, we had the housemate bread, served with tapenade, roasted garlic, and salted butter. Two loaves of delicious, crusty bread paired beautifully with the accompaniments. We also got the Medure Meatballs: there were three hearty meatballs served in a flavorful tomato sauce with grilled focaccia. Oh my heart. Austin made his dinner recommendations, and we all ordered. My husband and friend got the Radiatori with bolognese, whipped ricotta, and parmesan. It was light and balanced, with just a hint of nutmeg. My friend's husband ordered then Angliotti with sherry cream and roasted vegetables. And I had the Bucatini Carbonara, served with crispy studs of pancetta, and the most beautiful egg yolk to mix in. We were never rushed as we enjoyed our dinner, and it was just a wonderful night. After a time we ordered another bottle of wine and Austin asked if I liked bread pudding, as he wanted to bring out a birthday dessert. Sadly, I like neither white chocolate nor bread pudding so he ran down other options. In the end, we all voted for the Midtown Ice Cream: soft serve vanilla, with OLIVE OIL, honey, fennel pollen and salt. It sounds bizarre and awful. It was the one of the best things I've ever eaten. Party of 7 - walk-ins. The hostess was less than friendly upon entering which was probably the only negative of our experience. We were told we could sit outside, but declined due to the heat and was advised we'd be waiting at least 45 minutes for an inside seat. We agreed and felt it was reasonable being a larger party with no reservation. We were seated 15 minutes later. We ordered the truffle fries for the app and they were delicious. Seasoned well and the garlic aioli was the perfect balance of flavor. We ordered the club sandwich, which was very, very good. The meat, bread, veggies were all fresh and delicious. The fettuccine with salmon was divine. Their homemade pasta was incredible. The French dip was enjoyed by my husband, he was pleased with it, but said he would've liked just a tad bit more horse radish sauce. The pastrami sandwich was also very good, but a little dry. It could've used a little something in the way of a condiment, but overall was pretty good. My niece enjoyed the Caesar salad and commented on the dressing being tasty. I loved the lemon vinaigrette that came with the house salad, it was really refreshing and pairs well with the greens and cucumber slices. This is a really nice restaurant with outdoor seating and lots of room indoors as well. Definitely not sitting on top of other patrons which is a plus for me. The service was impeccable and our server Olivia was so very sweet, attentive and very professional, thoroughly enjoyed her. We started with white wine which was very good and they have great options for both red and white. I ordered the pastrami on sourdough which was awful. Two little thin sliced pieces of pastrami (could not even taste), thin layer of cheese, layer of French fries(???), topped with slaw. I was so disappointed, no flavor at all. My friend order the veggie panini which was very good I did tell the waitress it was the worst pastrami sandwich ever and she offered to bring me something else . I declined however they didn't charge me for the sandwich. My friend ordered vanilla ice cream with honey, olive oil, sea salt and Italian herb which was absolutely delicious and the flavors created such a delightful taste that was unexpected. The beginning of September brings a trio of birthdays for myself and two friends. While celebrating another friends birthdays mid August we made plans for the September birthday dinner and someone recommended Midtown Table. I am so thankful she did (thanks Vanessa!)! I called a few days prior and made reservations for ten for the patio. I was the first to arrive just before the reservation time. I was asked to wait for my friends at the bar and when most had arrived we would be seated. I'm thankful for spending some time at the bar as our bartender was superb! He really made our birthday celebration extra special;) Once we were seated at the table we ordered a ton of appetizers and drinks. I honestly tasted more food than I can remember lol. But what I do remember is that everything was delicious! From the white bean hummus to the eight layer lasagna and potato leek soup. And I can't forget the truffle fries.....oh yes and there was dessert too. I honestly cannot think of anything negative about my experience at Midtown Table. The manager even came by our table to check on us and asked about our experience. The service was five star from the bar to the table. Here's the story, of a guy named Davey, Who was living with the very lovely Jill, They were now known, as empty nesters, So eating out, really fit the bill! Ok, so now we know why I'm never going to write sit-com theme songs. But it does give me a great segue way into our most recent outing to Midtown Table. A Medure restaurant. Now, you may know the Medure Brothers from their other restaurants in Jacksonville such as Matthew's. Or M Shack. Or, um, Medure's. But Midtown Table is the newest of the bunch. And it is focused on Italian Food. A long time ago, in a world far, far away from COVID, the lovely Jill and I attended a tasting at Matthew's Restaurant of possible Midtown Table entrees. I recall that the dishes were Italian. And tasty. But that was about it. Honestly, I had forgotten all about this restaurant until the other night when we were discussing places to go. "Where do you want to go?" "I dunno. Where do you want to go?" You know how it goes, right? Anyway, my much smarter and more decisive wife announced that we were going to try Midtown Table. So that is where we went. Because after twenty-five years of wedded bliss, when the wife announces something? Well, that's it. The deal, my friends, is done. Anyway, the restaurant, like pretty much everything else in Jacksonville, is by Town Center. Parking wasn't too bad and even though we were a little early for our reservation they took us right in. The space itself is an open concept. As in its basically a giant room with some very brightly painted walls. In the time before COVID I would have said this was a pretty neat idea. Now though? We sat inside (there is outside dining available) and I have to admit that I wasn't entirely comfortable. The bar was packed with people. As the state is now in Phase 3 of its reopening plan (for better or worse) all of the tables can be occupied. And they were. Which is a great sign for the restaurant. But if you are concerned about the virus, this is probably a place where it would be better to carry out than to eat in. Just my opinion. But the staff was extremely friendly, and our waitress was fantastic. She went out of her way to constantly check on us to make sure everything was ok. The bar is well stocked. One frustrating point? They have a great selection of booze - and no list of what they have. I understand that they are constantly changing what they have stocked in the bar. So, go electronic. Or get used to printing up a lot of paper. But I had to walk up to the bar to see their bourbon selection. Which again, is a great one with lots of options. I just wish they could list them for you. For an appetizer we split the carrot fries. Which, surprise surprise, are carrots. They are roasted or boiled, then dipped in tempura batter and fried. They come with a mascarpone ranch dipping sauce. With the dipping sauce the carrots are quite tasty. Tender and the batter is not too thick or overpowering. Without the sauce I found them a bit bland. Maybe a touch more salt? Regardless they were pretty good, and I would recommend trying them at least once. For a main course my wife ordered the Clam Toast, which is actually an appetizer. I know, she's whacky like that sometime. It was a pretty big portion of clams . . . and toast. Certainly enough for a main course for her. The clams were cooked perfectly, and overall the dish was really good. Just a touch on the spicy side, so be prepared for that. For me though, the star of the evening was my main course, the radiatori - which is a wavy pasta in a Bolognese sauce and a little fluffy pillow of whipped ricotta. Or as I would say, an angel's pillow. Of cheese. The Bolognese sauce was amazing. Tasted like it had been cooking for days! I ordered it with some blackened shrimp, but I don't think it even needed that. A fantastic dish that I would strongly recommend. For dessert we split the Midtown Table Ice Cream. It has Olive Oil, Fennel Pollen, Maldon Salt, and Honey in it. My wife loved it. I thought it wasn't bad, but not something I would regularly order to sate my sweet tooth craving. To me it just had an odd aftertaste flavor. I also ordered a decaf coffee, but the coffee machine wasn't working so they brought me a decaf Americano on the house. A nice touch and a great way to finish off the evening. So, there you have it. An excellent meal at a new restaurant. Would we go back? Certainly. Maybe not in the near future as the rate of COVID infections continues to rise, but definitely at some point. Perhaps for brunch? I can't believe it's taken me this long to try this place! Now I feel like kicking myself for missing out on another local gem way longer than I should have. My friend and I went for Happy Hour and an early dinner. I decided to make a reservation even though it was a Thursday at 5:00 PM because I wasn't sure how busy it would be. When we got there it wasn't too busy, but within 30-40 minutes the dinner rush really started picking up so I'm glad I made the reservation. The ambiance and vibe was very nice. We sat inside because it was so hot out but next time I hope to sit outside as it looks like the perfect patio dining atmosphere. We started with the house bread served with butter and roasted garlic and the white bean hummus. The hummus was on HH special and we chose to add vegetables for dipping on top of the bread. The bread was so fresh and yummy! I love that they serve it with roasted garlic, such a unique feature that adds a whole new level of flavor! The hummus was good but I don't think it's worth the $13 when you add the vegetables with it, and wouldn't get it again. For dinner I ordered the Radiatori, SO GOOD! I swear the shape of the pasta makes it taste better! This is the perfect pasta/sauce combo and the whipped ricotta takes it up 10 notches! I very rarely order red sauce dishes and I loved this dish. My friend ordered the Bucatini Carbonara and this was completely different from the Radiatori but just as good in it's own way. The egg yolk make all the difference and makes the sauce so creamy and delicious when broken over the pasta. It's definitely worth mentioning their pastas are all made in-house, and you can absolutely tell! These people really know what they're doing when it comes to food! The portions, flavors, everything! I've been staying with my mom during this whole Covid 19 thing, and we tend to always choose restaurants in the towncenter, so we decided to go try somewhere else instead. Midtown Table has a very ambiance. Cute place, modern decor, reminded me of being in Miami. Our server was friendly and made great suggestions. Everything was really good, I liked the menu options and everything (other than my pasta) was very good. I'm picky with my bolognese sauce so my Radiatori wasn't my fav, but nonetheless I would definitely come back. I would like to try one of their pizzas because those look yummy. Came in for an early dinner around 5:00PM on Valentine's Day and was able to be seated immediately. They have a large in door dining room but also a great patio outside with putt-putt and corn hole. I started with an Old Fashioned and for $5 you can't beat it. Once we arrived we quickly got the show on the road. For an appetizer we ordered one of their fresh made Neapolitan Pizza's since that's my favorite type of pizza. We went with the basic Margarita Pizza and it was amazing. The perfect amount of char with fresh ingredients you can't beat it. We then ordered our entrees and both had to go for a different fresh made pasta dishes. I went with the Gnocchi and her the Mushroom Duxelle Agnolotti. The Gnocchi was amazing. Finally found a pick in Jacksonville that does a cheese based sauce with their Gnocchi (I don't count Alfredo). The Gnocchi is served in a Gorgonzola sauce with Fennel, Spinach, and Herbs. The sauce was very rich and full of flavor and the Gnocchi soft and fluffy. So delicious! For desert we went with the Bread Pudding which I'm normally not a fan of but this one was great and the house made ice cream that comes with it is to die for. Midtown Table is quickly making it's moves to being one of the top restaurants in Jacksonville in my opinion. Everything all around was great. I also have to mention that the staff was amazing as well our waitress was one of the most attentive I have had in a long time. The manager even brought us free chocolate cover strawberries. It is my first time at Midtown Table and love the ambience of the restaurant. They have a huge outdoor dining area. We ordered a few appetizers to share and they were all wonderful. We got the white bean hummus, clams on toast, and house bread. I love how the bread is served with grilled garlic head that is packed with flavor as it spread it on the bread. The hummus is really delicious when I'm usually not a huge fan of the dish. Clams were huge and super sweet. Then, we ordered gnocchi and carbonara which the pasta dishes were very disappointing. The appetizers were so amazing that I had high expectations for the mains. However, the carbonara tasted very bland like just noodles in pasta water. The gnocchi also needs more flavor and a bit overcooked. read more
