Catalytic converters we're stolen from my friend truck, went through insurance to get this covered. These guys know their stuff and showed what they would do and the parts that came off the truck. Quick turnaround time once parts arrived. The only question I have lingering is where the parts come from, but I don't know a mechanic that reveals that kind of stuff. A trusty mechanic is like a unicorn. They pretty much don't exist, and when you think you've found one, they turn out to just a horse. These guys are the unicorn: A trusty mechanic shop who won't try to upsell you and charge a reasonable price. I came here after my car was having issues starting and I figured it was the battery. Another mechanic (you can read my other reviews to figure out which) attempted to tell me that everything else was wrong with my car and needed to be replaced except, of course, the battery. I brought my car to Midtown Agean and explained the situation, and they replaced my battery and reassured me that everything else was fine for a reasonable price. They are also really nice and are willing to go the extra mile to accommodate their customers. I normally list the cons of a place in every review, but honestly, there are none. If you ever need a mechanic, you should never go anywhere else. read more

This is by far THE BEST mechanic shop you can bring your car too. I luckily stumbled upon this gem 4yrs ago and I've been a repeated customer ever since no matter what the issue is. Alex and Mike are both super honest with their work. There's multiple instances where they could have easily ripped me off just as any other mechanic shop does, though they haven't. They will only tell you what the real issue is and will make sure that it's fixed with their absolute best effort. Two mechanic shops told me I needed a new power steering pump. They quoted me $650 - $750. I decided to check out Aegean Auto works because the reviews were so good. Mike at Aegean inspected my car and told me he could fix the noise by simply flushing the power steering fluid, replacing the o-rings and treating the pump return and supply lines. Total cost to repair at Aegean: $165! Mike saved me HUNDREDS of dollars with his honesty. Could not ask for a better mechanic. While in the waiting room, I spoke with another customer of Aegean's. He told me he had been going to Aegean for 17 years. Wow. What an incredible shop Aegean is, to maintain customer relationships for nearly two decades. Aegean is Houston's best kept secret. I had my battery replaced at a different place and when my car didn't start the next day I thought it might be the alternator. I submitted an online message since they were closed and they called me first thing Monday morning and already over the phone diagnosed it as probably something more electrical than alternator. Sure enough, he was right and it was a very easy fix, quick in & out, and inexpensive! Highly recommend this place for honest work! read more

Very rude service. He got mad at me because he looked at my car for free and I came back on a different day than he advised when I told him I was bringing him someone else's care to begin with! I never asked for any FREE work just wanted to know what was wrong with my car. I got to the shop at 2:46pm on Friday and it clearly says they close at 5 but he said he is closed. Alex and Mark are great! I've take my girlfriend's car, as well as mine, and both times we have been more than satisfied with the work done. They work very fast and efficiently. These guys are great . . . . I don't want to take my car anywhere else! They're honest friendly, and astonishingly fast. I've had a ton of stuff done there, everything from oil changes to replacement mirrors, car stereo installation to electrical work. They're the best for the best price! Plus, they're hilarious. This was my second or third visit here and they are always on top of their game. They don't take off days in attitude or ability. Took my 4Runner for a battery and alternator change. Dropped it off at 12:40 walked to Sunny's for a Mountain Dew and then to Lankford Grocery, which is about a two minute walk up Genesee, for the chicken fried steak special. Got a call at about 1:55. All Done !! One hour and ten minutes later I have a new battery and alternator. These guys are fast, friendly, and very competent. read more

We used these guys for 4 years when we lived a few blocks away. Now we have moved out of state, but still refer to them as the gold standard and wish we could find someone as good that we trust out here! I took my 2001 GMC to the guys to replace the u-joints in my driveshaft as it was making noise. I asked them to check the shocks, struts, & brakes while they had her in the air. They said most everything looked good but they noticed a problem with the shackles and put in yeomans work to get them fixed. I showed up without an appointment and they were able to get in and fixed the same day. Our car was running hot and I was expecting high dollar repair, it turned out not to be the case at all. Granted, not all repairs are created equal and it is clear this business operates honestly. I will not have any reservations in returning or recommending them. read more

Alex and his team did a great job. Took in my 13 year old Pathfinder and basically told him to find anything wrong with it he could and give me a price. He fixed things that needed to be done, and refused to do things that many other shops would have told me I needed to have done. For example, I suggested the Automatic transmission fluid should be changed due to time since it was last changed (very low mileage) and he said, no, it was okay. New shocks? No, they are fine. Differential fluids (it is a 4x4)? No, level is good and oil looks okay. Did need front brakes turned and new rotors, oil change, and change the coolant as the 4x4 is being moved to a cold winter region. I needed new tires and had a set lined up elsewhere, but they got me a better price and had everything sorted out the same day. Top notch service. Old school, and very genuine. Richard read more

I can't recommend Midtown Agean Auto works strongly enough! Alex is one of the most honest mechanics I've met. A few years ago he replaced a major car part on my older car, high mileage car. When we brought it again two years later it was having major issues, we wanted to know if it was worth fixing or if it was finally time for us to let it go. Alex was very honest with us and instead of talking us into extensive and expensive work on our 15 year old car with 215k miles, he gave us a matter of fact answer! We decided against repairs and decided to finally get a new car. Best yet, Alex didn't charge us a penny for all of his work, he even put it up on a lift and showed us everything he found. I'm really glad we have a mechanic we trust, does amazing work, and is very honest. Everyone that works for him is just as awesome. Really great people. I came here because it had such high reviews. I was very disappointed that they were not more helpful in assisting me in changing my fog lights. I bought some lights to change out myself. to change out the lights simply involved removing 3 screws under the bumper to fold back a plastic cover and then replacing the bulbs. I Had already done this step in less than 5 min, but had trouble with putting my hand underneath the bumper to unscrew the bulb as my car is very low to the ground. This could have been done extremely easily by jacking the car up in 20 min or less. They wanted to charge me 75 dollars for the labor to do this, and did not care to negotiate or discuss the matter further. read more
