Unbelievable! Rudeness is the name of the game at Midland Hardware. Before I read all these negative reviews on the Yelp website, I never imagined that customer service could reach that level of atrociousness. Inquiring about the shipping policy, the twit from Midland on the other end just hung up in mid-conversation. I could clearly hear the receiver clunking down before the connection was cut-off. Maybe he's the owner, as one'd think an employee wouldn't get away with that for very long. read more

I ordered some decorations from Midland Hardware and discovered one of my items was broken. When I wrote them of my misfortune, the company got back to me almost instantly. They went above and beyond in assistance to fix my situation. The company ultimately sent me a replacement and did not hassle me with having to return the broken item. In my book this kind of customer service is a true rarity and I intend to do more business with them in the future, I highly recommend purchasing from Midland as their customer service assures you of a great experience. read more

DO NOT BUY from this company if you are not certain you will keep the product. They have a 30 day return policy and will not make exceptions. I have an unopened box that I need to return and they would not take it back. I wish I had read the reviews on here before I placed my order. Thumbs down! read more

This is absolutely the worst place to do business! I ordered staples for my staple gun, they make you order some of them in quantities of 5, so I had to order 17 boxes. Only 5 boxes arrived. I emailed customer service and David Anderson claimed the rest of my order was delivered, and only then did they provide a tracking number. But it was a lie, it was never delivered. When I responded that no, tracking info was incorrect, I never received the order, they didn't respond. I opened up 2 new claims and they still didn't respond. I emailed David Anderson two more times and he didn't respond. I called and there's an automated message saying they only respond to emails and not calls. I dialed 0 many times and no answer. I dialed several different extensions, no answer. I googled and found a different phone number for them. I got the retail store attached to the e store and was told by a woman they were separate and she couldn't help me. She gave me yet another phone number. Dialed 0 and several other extensions again. NO answer. They have my money and my merchandise and don't care, they just stole from me. They are robbers and not a real business. I'm suing them! read more

Awful! I ordered a fleece jacket online, it was shipped fast but it was the wrong jacket. I emailed them several times and got no response. Tried to call several times and got no answer. I don't know how these people stay in business. Ridiculous! read more

Purchased (24) 4x4 post caps from this company, which seemed to take forever to receive, they certainly are not the fastest company out there. the post caps were received just thrown in the box with no packaging material at all. When received the condition of a couple of them had come apart from all the moving around in transit, this just goes to tell you how cheaply they were made. When I put them on the 4x4 post they were made considerably bigger then they should have been. In the building industry it is common knowledge that a 4x4 post are not made at the 4x4 dimension but normally about 3 1/2 '' in measurement and could be slightly over that. Of course I returned them due to there size and quality of the product, but in the process to return they wanted me to send pictures of the product, which I did, though I thought that was very unusual to do this. Beware, In there return policy they have a 15% restocking charge, which I argued to no avail that the product was not correct to what they are advertising and the manufacture made them so big they probably would dam near fit a 6x6 post. Needless to say I will never buy here again. I should have known better when there is no phone number to contact them and all communication is by email. read more

Attempted to give them a chance, went to the website and order an adapter piece to connect a gas Line, claimed to be 3/8 x 3/8 which was perfect. Placed my order and when it arrived I looked at it though it was wrong and to my surprise it was not and instead a 1/2 x 3/8. I attempted to contact customer service to get the correct piece and instead of sending me out the correct piece they instead wanted to argue that it was my fault. There website is messed up and they even changed it after I contacted customer service, My confirmation email says 3/8 x 3/8 and they wont to take no responsibility. AVOID IF POSSIBLE as they do not have an organized system and if the off chance happens that they mess up, they will shrug off the blame instead of working to find a resolution. read more

I ordered some furniture polish that I could not find at a store near me, they emailed me and said that they wouldn't ship it, expected me to drive from Fort Wayne to pick it up. read more

I found an Orbit sprinkler timer on their online website. The Item they sent is not what the website showed. I tried to return it, but they claim it was my error and will only refund the purchase price after a 15% deduction and no freight reimbursement. Their customer service admitted that the picture was a generic. If you order from Midland use caution! Better yet use someone else. read more

Stopped in for some paint on my way home from work. David, the manager, answered all of my questions and mixed the paint expertly. I will definitely shop here again!!! read more

Price was not honored on website. Order was cancelled, at least I got a email on that count. Not a very good experience if ordering online. As of this time the charged amount was still not returned. read more

I bought some porch rocking chairs from Midland. They were not very good quality. Midland did everything they could to make the situation right for me. They offered full refunds, returns, partial refunds where I kept the chairs, etc. They bent over backwards to make my experience with them as favorable as possible. I wouldn't recomend the chairs (which they have taken off their website due to my complaints) but i would thoroughly endorse Midland hardware. They are a very fair company that stands behind what they sell!! read more

I received a defective product but they sent me a new one right away, even before I sent the old one, excellent customer service.

I purchased two items from Midland Hardware a scoop snow shovel and a jet shovel attachment for a leaf blower. The scoop snow shovel had a screw missing. I took the shovel into the store so that they could provide me with a screw. When I got to the store, one employee told me that they did not have a screw to fit. The other employee found a screw that he thought would fit, but it did not, he discovered that the opening in the handle and shovel was defective, that is why there was no screw in it. He said he could reorder a new shovel and that I should take the defective one back home and pick up a new one when it arrived to their store. I told him that I would like for the new one to be shipped to my home, like the first one. he said no. I told him to just return the shovel, which he did, at the full purchase price. I also returned the small shovel attachment for the leaf blower, it was of poor quality and had scratches on the shovel and tape marks on the shovel. They took the jet shovel to the back and said that they would process the refund. The jet shovel attachment was $17.64, after a few days my refund showed up in the amount of $14.99. The large shovel was defective and the small jet shovel was of cheap quality and had marks and scratches on it. They told me at the store the both items would be refunded at the full price. I have been calling since February 2, 2019 about the refund and each time they told me that the person that I needed to talk with just left, or was not in. Today they told me they did not know when she would be in. I ask for the store owner and was told he could not help me and they did not know when he would be in. The customer service is horrible. The large shovel was defective and the small jet shovel attachment was scratched and had tape marks all on it and appeared different in quality than what was shown online and in the video. The did not even provide an online receipt when I ordered the product. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! DON'T SHOP THERE, THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS. ZERO RATING read more

Ordered two bags of fertilizer on Saturday evening. Received a confirmation email immediately, one update email on Monday, shipped email on Wednesday, and delivered on Thursday. That's about as good as an online transaction gets. read more

I ordered three identical items, they only sent one. Attempted to call the customer service number on their website, got a recording they only provide customer service by e-mail. Sent an e-mail, got no response, sent another two days later advising I'd purchased what I needed elsewhere and requested a full refund and return authorization for the one item they shipped. In accordance with their return policy, I boxed and shipped the one item back at my expense, after I got my next card statement, I saw that they'd only refunded me about 55% of the price of the original order of three items with shipping. Even if I allow for their 15% restocking fee, their math escapes me. The only way I can get close to understanding what they did is if I imagine they didn't refund the original shipping charges, even though they only shipped a third of the order. Even that ethically dubious tactic on their part results in a short refund, as far as I'm concerned. I e-mailed them to request an explanation for how they computed my refund once I got my card statement, and got no response. I'll never do business with them again, & I'd encourage others to steer clear. read more

Of my many online shopping experiences this has been the most disappointing. It takes a week just for them to ship an item from one warehouse to another. Then that warehouse ships it to you. How inefficient is that? I thought 9 days was enough lead time to receive my item, but apparently not....unless I wanted to cough up even more money. And then they charge a 15% restocking fee. This place is a big ripoff. I would avoid them at all costs. read more

Placed an order online and only received 9 of 14 packages ordered and the packaging slip column for "quantity shipped" was left blank. Tried to contact customer service with my issue and only on the third attempt was I finally able to get some answers, however that was pretty much "the warehouse says they shipped them all." They offered to re-send the five additional packages, however since this was a time-sensitive order and they couldn't guarantee I would get them in time I just ended up very frustrated and cancelling my order. Very frustrating experience. read more

Ordered via their website 12/17/15, received "warehouse" notice on 12/19/15 with no tracking number. Called on 12/22/15 to see when they expect to ship, I was told "All orders will ship today" This morning 12/28/15 I called to see what my tracking number is, as I received no email nor did my acct update on their site. I was told "those items are still in our warehouse". I asked to speak to a manager, I was told she is in a meeting. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SITE. I know the prices look great, but if you never get the item or one of their lazy warehouse workers destroy it, you only get disappointment. I have been shopping online for MANY years, this store should stop trying to provide e-commerce. read more

This place USED to be a good hardware store. The people they had working there were very helpful and knew what they were talking about. I used to shop there all the time since it was close to my house. I have since moved to a different area of town but yesterday I was in the area and needed to stop an pick a few things up so I stopped in there. What an unpleasant surprise. All of the people that used to work there are gone. There was NOBODY on the floor to ask for help finding things. A quarter to a third of the shelves and hangers were empty and the guy working the cash register was more interested in playing with his cell phone than helping customers. The fasteners area was simply filthy. Nuts, bolts, screws, nails were scattered all over the shelves and even the floor. The aisle was completely blocked but a grocery basket full of stuff to either be thrown out or put up, I'm not sure which. When I went to check out the guy working the register never said a word except to tell me how much the total was. No, "hi, hello, find what you needed.." NOTHING. I hadn't been to that store in probably 2 years and I won't be going back. read more

What a joke! I ordered a piece of a deadbolt via their website, roughly 10 days later, no email confirmation of shipping and no package had arrived. I emailed them to see if there was an issue, the lady emailed me back saying the piece was back ordered (it happens), but then she said they had been trying to reach me. I scanned my phone again to verify, and no call or voicemail. Over the next 2 weeks I received 3 more emails saying the back order date has been pushed back. I emailed them again asking how many more times this will be back ordered, and all they replied with was "we don't have control over the distributor, I can refund your order". No attempting to fix the issue, no sincerity, nothing. I try to support the small business market whenever I can, but I just went on Amazon and found it right away. I told her to refund my order, and no follow up email, just a refund message saying it will take 48 hours. read more

I ordered four flower box holders (Midland product #724211) for my deck. Shipping was prompt and the product looked well made. Two months later, when I opened one to assemble and mount it, I found that, with the included hardware, it was impossible to securely mount them on a 2x6 deck railing. It looks like they were designed to be mounted on a wall or other structure with solid faces on both sides, not a deck railing as in the description: "Positioned On Steel Fences & Railings, 2 x 4 in. Wood Railings & 2 x 6 in. Wood Railings." Customer service representatives were sympathetic and referred me to the manufacturer. However, in the end it was clear the product wasn't designed to simply hang on an open deck railing. I asked them to waive their 15 day limit on returns but they would not. Recognizing that I should have checked the product immediately upon receiving it, I'm still disappointed they would not waive the return limit and accept these unused and (all but one) still-packaged products. I'd have been happy to pay the cost of the return myself, but we didn't get that far. Buyer beware. read more
