BEWARE!! Had the absolute worst customer service experience of my life with this company. I placed an order online for a few small items to attach legs to a dresser. The box the items were shipped in was MUCH too large for these items and poorly packaged. (I will attach photos in the comments). One item the package was completely open and missing its corresponding hardware (making it completely useless). The (6) legs I ordered were not the right size. Upon calling the number listed on PayPal to resolve issues I was met with complete and utter rudeness. David took the first call, I asked to speak with a manager after 3 attempts he never clarified he was a manager, but said he could help. I then asked if he handled online orders, his response, "what company is this, who are you?", I stated I was not with a company just a paying customer and American citizen, he then respond with " what do you want I don't have time for this" and hangs up on me. I call a second time and a woman answers the phone, I asked to speak with the manager and she tells me he is busy so I am placed on hold. After 5 min I am disconnected. I attempt to reach them a third time, the woman answers again and I ask to have the managers name and for her to take my information so that he can contact me when he is available. She informs me the mans name is David and that the owner will be in at 7pm. I ask for David's last name and she replies, "Oh we aren't doing that," right before she hangs up on me AGAIN and never took my information. At this point I am so shocked a business is even running with this lack of customer service. My husband serves this country and we have traveled a lot and seen a lot and I was absolutely appalled that this grown man and woman would act so nasty towards a paying customer. I was finally contacted through email to resolve the issue, long story short David Anderson was putting the blame on FedEx for repacking my box and losing my item.( Tell me why would FedEx repack a box that has been damaged just to replace it with another damaged box with poor taping and sealing and also not in a FedEx box!!) Later stated that it was not him who I spoke with on the phone that they are not linked with the brick and mortar store. (Yet they both have the name David Anderson!) I was offered a refund for the item that was missing the hardware or that they would send me new screws. I declined, because at this point I wanted nothing else to do with this company or its people. I asked for a full refund and they would pay the return shipping and I would mail the items back to them in the manner it was sent to me and in the same box. The next email I received was my last from them stating they would send me a form with instructions to return the items. Here are the following instructions per their form: Your RMA 1809 was authorized. Please, follow the instructions: 1- The items must be in the original package and resalable. NO visible damage, writing or marks, highlighting, and/or odor. Products purchased in shrink-wrap must still be in original wrapping. Shrink-wrapped items that have been unwrapped are not eligible for return. 2- The items must be received with in 30 days of the ship date. 3- There is a 15% restocking fee on all returns. If you are exchanging for another item you will not be charged a restocking fee. 4- You are responsible for shipping the item(s) back to Midland Hardware. Damaged or poorly packed packages may be refused at time of delivery. 5- Please write your RMA number 1809 on the package. Be sure your RMA number is clearly visible on the OUTSIDE of the package. If the product being shipped back came in the product's original box do not write on the box, please tape a piece of paper to the box before writing your RMA number. Writing on the box can result in us denying your refund. Please explain to me why it was alright to SEND ME the items not abiding by these guidelines yet you set such a standard for returned packages that YOU are at fault for?? I have yet to hear from David anymore regarding my issue but I did notice a $1.60 refund placed on my account. This matter is NOT resolved and I pray that this company changes their ways. So sad this is how some individuals treat their paying customers and working military families these days. read more

Ordered run-of-the-mill items from Midland True Value Hardware (Grandview, MO) online for our business. Items never arrived. FedEx tracking info indicated delivered, but our security video on day of claimed delivery showed no deliveries. Probably not Midland's fault. I was asked by Midland, in response to both email and Facebook Messenger inquiries, if we wanted to cancel the order or have it re-shipped. We responded to BOTH to double-confirm we wanted the item re-shipped. Then we received an email stating the original fulfillment warehouse was out of stock and the order was being processed through another warehouse ... and that we'd receive our shipment in 3 to 5 business days. Monday, six business days later, I emailed customer service to request tracking info on the second shipment -- ignored. Today, EIGHT BUSINESS DAYS LATER, I asked, via FB messenger, for tracking information on the second shipment. The response was, "we forgot to process the second order" ... I then replied that I might let that excuse slide if it came from a 5-year-old, but not from an online merchant. Then, they changed their claim by blaming me, THE CUSTOMER, for opening two communications with them (email and Facebook Messenger -- in both communications I CONFIRMED that we wanted the order re-shipped ... and they ACKNOWLEDGED AND CONFIRMED that the order was being re-shipped). Today they said that because I had two channels of communication open on the matter they "got confused and were waiting for me to confirm" ... even though, again, they had responded and confirmed that the order was being processed and re-shipped ... and that we would receive in 3 to 5 business days. Today, I said I wanted it re-shipped overnight delivery at their expense, otherwise I'd turn the matter over to True Value Hardware Corporate Customer Relations, their local BBB, and any other appropriate consumer advocacy and regulating authorities. They refused to ship any faster than ground service. I complained and expressed my frustration and indicated I would proceed with reporting and online reviews. They replied, "order cancelled" ... I see in other reviews that this is typical. Blaming the customer for this nonsense is inexcusable. Not accepting responsibility and not doing what's right to make it right with a customer represents the attitude that will ruin small local businesses who refuse to invest common courtesy, care, and value-added practices to ensure survival against box stores and large online retailers who are doing it right (better). When I called them out on their self-contradictory claims, they replied, "Goodbye" ... Yeah ... It's only a matter of time before their practices and poor customer service result in a chorus of "goodbye" from customers who will shop elsewhere! Never order anything from these people. I was ordering two keyhole saw blades that were very reasonably priced at $1.81. Wondering what the shipping would be, I put the item in my cart and continued to total. It showed the item and a handling charge of $3.00 for a total of $4.81. I felt that was reasonable considering I couldn't find the blades locally. I selected, and signed in to PayPal. PayPal acknowledged the transaction and sent me back to the vendor page to finish. To my surprise the total had jumped to $13.70. So the $3.00 HANDLING FEE was just to put the 2 oz. Item into a mailing envelope. The extra $8.89 was shipping. I chatted with Leah, told her the situation and that it was very deceptive. She was sorry I felt that way and ended the chat. After seeing all the lousy reviews I wish I had checked Yelp first. I ordered 4 Planters. I received 3 planters, but got billed for 4 planters. Over the past `0 business days, I have called twice (one gets an answer saying they are busy and send them an email, there is no option to leave a message). And I sent 3 emails to 2 different email addresses on the website. There has been no response. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be their style. I asked if they could ship with 2 day delivery since they had shipped the wrong product and I needed the product quickly. They said they could not. We are about 300 miles from the store down I-44 so because of their prices I ordered some bug traps on 7/2. No contact about shipping in spite of their website verbiage so I called them on 7/9. Turns out their site was down but miraculously as I called my order had been processed so I couldn't cancel..huh? Still no traps on 7/13. Their shipping goes like this: 7/10 fedex, Rockford Illinois, 7/11 chicago then Lenexa ks, 7/12 Olathe ks, 7/13 Kansas City. BUYER BEWARE!!! Found Midland Hardware via a sponsored link on Amazon.com. When I placed my order for two a green stripped dog beds. The order confirmation clearly showed that two green stripped dog beds were shipping. When I received my order, not only were the dog beds not green stripped, one was the wrong color. Reviewing their corporate website by the item number and ID it clearly states "PetMate Pet Bed, GREEN STRIPPED, 27x26". The blue one had numerous marks and what I am hoping was a just a water stain. I called and later e-mailed the company requesting an exchange or refund. I was told that it would be a 15% restocking fee to exchange the bed and that there was no guarantee that I would get a green one. There is a small "disclaimer" stating *some colors shown below may not be available*. There are no other colors shown below! They provide no indication that they will randomly ship whatever color they want. The cost of returning the bed, the duplicate shipping fees and a 15% restocking fee is nearly the equilivant of price of the dirty, stained, wrong colored dog bed they shipped. I ordered 4 tubes of Sika 29 OZ Self Leveling Sealant (191166) for a pool project that had time and weather constraints. MH had the best prices and shipping I could find online. The package shows up and I can immediately smell caulk and notice that the sealant is leaking out of the package. Fedex says to accept shipment and talk to MH for faster service. The package had a small dent in the corner which ruptured one of the tubes of sealant and caused it to leak all over the inside of the box and essentially sealed the other 3 tubes inside. There was no packaging to protect the tubes of caulk. Talked to MH customer service and the agree to send a replacement shipment but cannot expedite the shipment for any reason. I tell them to make sure there is packaging to protect the shipment. Replacement shipment arrives and I can smell caulk again. Open up package and remove a few inflatable bubbles and see that each tube of caulk is leaking around the nozzle because they bounced around during shipping. I am not bothering to deal with MH again and will be able to get the project done with the sealant covered tubes from the original shipment and the 1 salvageable tube from the replacement shipment. Beware if you are purchasing anything fragile because MH does not bother to protect the shipment. read more

I really can't believe these guys can stay in business. Their processes/systems are so broken and the customer (and their customer support people) bear the brunt of this ridiculous vendor. So, I ordered some screen frame kits and screen material on line with these guys as the kits were on sale. I received a confirmation of the order but did not receive any shipment confirmation or tracking. 8 days later I get a package without the screen material. Had to wait over weekend till Monday to get a hold of them. It took 3 calls (just ringing and then cut off) before a nice customer service person picked up the line. I asked where the shipment confirmation was as never got it and I wanted to see if this was a miss shipment or back order as well as the tracking number. She said sometimes the warehouse systems do not provide shipment confirmations. So, she investigated and found out the screen material did not ship. Surprised, I asked how a customer was supposed to know how and when it would be delivered and a phone call into them was only way. She looked and said she could ship from a Texas warehouse and it would take a day for processing and another 5-7 days for delivery. At this point, I asked for a refund so I could purchase elsewhere and requested a refund on shipment as I did not receive the whole order. She said she needed to get her manager to approve refunds, so I waited another 20 minutes before the manager to pick up. Manager acknowledged that the warehouse does not inform them (or me) of a non shipment of an item and she agreed to issue the refund. This has got to be the worst on-line shopping experience I have ever had, how can you charge someone for a full order, only ship part of it and not put it on backorder and not notify the customer?!? With these incomplete systems, they do not deserve to be in business. Certainly not worth the time or the aggravation, do yourself a big favor and shop somewhere else. read more

Won't be back. Zero customer service. I received part of my order today.  Not very pleased at the way the 400 bolts had been packed. I received them all scattered inside of the shipping box. What a mess and waste of my time. The 100 4 inch screws were all mixed in to the 300 scattered 2 1/2 inch screws. All of the individual boxes fell apart as there wasn't any packing to hold the 4 boxes in place.  With that many screws, I would think that there would have been packing if placing in such a large master box.  Even then I feel it would have been advisable to use some packing tape around each of the various boxes to keep them from bursting the way they did. Needless to say I was not thrilled to spend time sorting and temporarily bagging the resorted screws. All could have all been avoided with a small amount of forethought.  The minimal amount of savings made buy purchasing from you. (repeat customer by the way) Is now going to be a pain read more

This company is the epitome of incompetence and completely lacks any semblance of customer service. In addition, the website only offers an email address for customer service and no phone number. Like many others I had multiple issues with an online order. First of all, the items I ordered were supposed to ship the next day. I didn't receive any communication for almost a week when I got an email stating that one of the items I ordered was backordered and the whole order would ship weeks later. When I contacted them they refused to ship the partial order unless I was willing to cancel the items that were missing for a refund. Ironically, the items that were backordered were the main item I needed and the rest was really just filler to avoid their ridiculous handling policy. I begrudgingly decided to wait. Then, another week or so later, before the items were supposed to be shipped, I received a partial refund equivalent to the items that were backordered. This happened without any explanation or communication. I reached back out to customer service with no reply and still none of my order received after several days. We are now almost a full month after the original order was placed and has already been charged and paid for. I proceeded to open an item not received case with PayPal. Several days after that, I got an email that my order was shipped. They uploaded tracking info and the PayPal case was automatically closed. In the meantime, I finally received a package which included only a small fraction of what I actually ordered and a bunch of stuff I didn't. I tried to work directly with customer service again sending an email outlining exactly what was received and what wasnt. After several days, they answered that I was already refunded for all items not received and if I wanted any further refund I would have to return items that I never received in the first place at my own expense. Now, after 6 weeks since the original order I still have jo resolution. I received only a few items that I didn't really want and were only filler for the order. I've had to restart the process with PayPal and have to wait for the company to answer for up to 10 days again read more

Worst customer service ever. Order was placed 4 business days ago after asking them 48 hours later of where the order is and when I can expect it I get a fake tracking number. Their phone system did not work for 48 hours. Their Facebook chat contact keeps saying they have to figure out why the tracking number is not working. I found another phone number and their " Manager " stated they do not have the product and waiting for their manager. I have gone into this store twice in the last two days. Sunday was my best experience. I came in with a cutting of my rose bushes and said help! Something is eating my rose bushes. I think his name was Mike. Mike did not look like I was crazy. Took me directly to the insect control aisle. Told me his suggestions & then took me up to the front to look to see if the product we chose would hurt the rose bushes. It did. So he called someone else for me that was very helpful. The service was excellent. Monday I went back for a tarp to cover some equipment. Again a great employee was called to help me. DO NOT purchase online items from this store. They overcharge and do not honor their online items. They will send you the wrong item and not refund or take it back unless you pay for it. SAVE YOUR TIME AND $$$, GO TO A REAL True Value STORE. Also, they are not a True Value store at all, they just sell some True Value items at a mark up. They should not be allowed to use True Value's name as they are not affiliated with them. I had purchases a kennel and roof kit and what I got was a roof kit for a kennel. I did not notice this until I received the order processing email that my order was preparing to ship. So, within reasonable time I cancled the order. They denied the cancellation and still shipped the wroing item. Their reason? The item was supposedly already at their "warehouse" (I google mapped the location from where the item shipped from. It is a hard ware store). I tried calling the customer service number several times, it just rang and rang. I live on the west coast so I made sure they were open every time I called. I did this for a whole week. I even emailed several times and did not get a response until a week and a couple days later. So, I finally speak to someone, Emily the Operations Manager. I explained the issue and asked for a return slip. She said she will not send one, siting that their return policy states they will not cover return shipping and will charge a 15% restocking fee. I ackowledged that but also advised to her that I requested to cancel the order when I noticed it was not the item I had ordered initially and they denied the cancellation and shipped it anways. I told her the least she could do is cover the shipping since charging a restocking fee of 15%. She said no, got an attitude and disconnetced the call. I called back, this time my husband talked to her, and requested her supervisor. She said she was the supervisor and said there was no one else he can talk to. So, my husband asked who she answers to, she said the store owner. My husband asked to speak to the store owner since she was not being helpful at all, she refused and disconnected the call. I called back the next day to speak to the store owner, spoke to a male who did not identify himself and was told that the store owner was not available until the next day. I asked to have the store owner call me back that day and they refused and disconnected the call. Good thing I went through PayPal, otherwise they would have had my banking information. Until Midland True Value Harware improves their policies for online item returns and customer service, do not purchase from this store. read more

They said it would be here in 5-7 business days(reasonable). I ordered it on Sunday, November 30th. It was not delivered within the 5-7 day time frame. I finally heard that it was delivered on Thursday 11th, 9 business days later at the wrong adress! They shipped it to another customer who's order was not even close to mine! Now, the saw will get here nest Tuesday, 12 business days later. That is not acceptable. Think wisely before ordering from Midland Hardware!!! read more

I ordered a mailbox from Midland Hardware on July 26th, five days ago. Today I received a package from them and was excited to put up the new mailbox. Inside the box was not my mailbox, but an insect mesh grow tunnel. I was extremely disappointed. I called to resolve this situation and Midland Hardware customer service was not sure what to do, so they called me back. When they called me back they decided to have me ship this grow tunnel to another customer that had received my mailbox and that customer to ship the mailbox to me. There will be no refund of shipping because they claim, "that would be done if it was clearly our mistake but it wasn't." Well it seems as though I ordered a mailbox and got a mesh tunnel and that is certainly not my mistake. When I expressed disappointment with no consideration of shipping refund (it is going to be a while before I actually get my mailbox and an inconvenience to ship the tunnel to the correct customer). I am extremely disappointed with this transaction, my first with your company. I do not EVER plan to take my business to your company again, and I urge others to take their business to another store with more reliable service and kinder customer service. Very disappointing, I try to shop smaller businesses whenever possible but this time it did not work out. Additionally, when I asked to talk to a manager or the customer service representative's boss, she said she did not have a boss. False advertising! Just ordered a snow sled for my son at a great price. However, the next day they send an email saying, "So sorry, but the price you paid was incorrect. We are canceling your order and you can buy it at the new price (which was $34 more!!)". Wished I would have read the other Yelp reviews before purchasing from them. Of course I will never do it again. The other reviews are spot on too! "incompetence", "horrible", etc. are some of the other review descriptions.
