But when I'm in the area and I need something quickly, I will come in here. I stopped in for some bird suet. The store is always clean and bright and the service is friendly and helpful. It's a smaller store so they will have a smaller selection. It's just local hardware type of things and some cleaning supplies and around the house supplies. I do think their prices are quite a bit higher. The suet was about $.10 higher than Walmart where I typically get it with my weekly order. They do have a reward program that I belong to and they will send a five dollars off coupon for your birthday and a variety of other coupons in the mail if you purchase a certain amount.

I've brought my pup in here as she continues to need some socialization and it always goes well. One time the clerks had their dog too and they became fast friends. This store really packs quite a bit into it. Of course it won't be as sizable as a Home Depot, but man oh man is the experience world's better. I found every single thing on my list which was great. It's closest size comparison to me would be the Ace in Westport, but hey guess what, you don't have to fear for your life in KC's worst intersection if you come here! It's easy to park in the lot out front, off of the always-busy 75th Street. My kids love it because they have a gumball machine, whoopie cushions, and other classics from back in the day when the world was making real attempts to be fun. They have a good selection of products, it's very clean and organized. Their prices are in line with most other big box home improvement stores. I have a Lowe's card so you get a discount when you use it at every purchase, which is helpful. I don't care for the self check out areas whatsoever, but I don't like those in any store. Most of their plants are good quality, and I have not had problems with them dying like other stores plants that I've purchased. We did choose to have a very large window put in facing our backyard and another regular window from Lowe's. They contract out and while it got done and looks good there were just a few issues with that situation that would give the overall rating of four star.

We've now been without a washer for three weeks. Maytag service finally came out after two weeks and immediately determined it needs a new motherboard and additional parts, which will take another week and a half to arrive. All of it. They also have pretty strong pricing. Every time I've price shopped or compared with all the usual suspects - both brick and mortar, and online - Menards is either the best price, or darn close. And that's even before the goofy rebates (more below). The primary thing I dislike about their approach to commerce is that they don't offer as liberal a free shipping policy as the likes of Amazon, Home Depot, etc. So, many times I order online and then get stuck being required to come in to pick up my order. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it's definitely a major hit against day-to-day convenience in the Amazon age. The other thing I really dislike is the constant "rebate" scheme they like to employ. I know every place has their goofy quirks, but I really dislike the difficulty of this sort of business practice. It feels about the same as when airlines show you an airfare on the first page, only to find out that there are fees behind that which nearly double the actual cost. It's just a way for them to show you a less-realistic low price to keep you from surfing to the competition. Lastly, while the people who work here always seem polite and are helpful when I speak with them, hunting them down can be akin to finding a needle in a haystack. That said, due to the first point - selling everything - and usually at a fair price, they get plenty of my business!

NEVER AGAIN! On a Friday in September of 2026, I ordered and paid for small item (package was 3…read moreinches by 5 inches) to pick up at Menards 14011 W 135th St, Olathe, KS 66062. Went to front of store (see pic A) and the Orange sign on door stated "Order Pick Up" (See pic B). I went inside that door and told the 2 people behind counter (not doing anything) I needed to pick up my order. One of the people said "you need to go to the back of the store, then all the way to the left side to pick up order. This is a very large store. Anyway, I went to that location and there was a line waiting to talk to one of the 3 guys behind the counter. I was at the wrong counter. When it was my turn one guy said I needed to go back into the next room through a doorway. I went there and here was a young guy there that helped me. He took off and eventually came back with my small package. Now since I parked outside the front door that had a sign that stated "ORDER PICKUP", I had to go back through the store to the checkout area (I was already on far East side of store anyway) and walk through the checkout area where people were waiting to pay. Then I had to exit outside because I did not see any way to exit without going back completely through the store again! I had parked all the way at the West end of the store in handicap parking where, I had originally come inside (because the sign on the door stated "ORDER PICK UP". Very messed up system with lots of people not doing much. Sorry I used Menards and as I stated before, NEVER AGAIN!
