Very negative experience at Midgard Self Storage, Key West. We reserved a rental truck weeks in advance only to be informed that the reservation had been given to someone else. This is the second time this has happened. There will not be a third. After reading all the other negative complaints concerning Midgard Self Storage I am so relieved we avoided any further contact with this company. Avoid at all costs. Called to set an appointment and was routed to a foreign call center, not the Key West location and the agent could not tell me anything about the actual location on Roosevelt. So I dropped by and spoke with Terry. Perfectly nice guy, showed me around and quoted me a price and gave me a card with a local number. The very next morning, I called to lease a space. It seems that even the local number on the business card routes to the foreign call center and those guys were basically useless. So I drove to their office to lease the space, only to find out that it had been leased. No problem. So they showed me another smaller unit, which would do, but it was over $100 more per month! For a SMALLER unit. I asked, how can it be more money for a smaller unit and if so, how could it be THAT much more? ANSWER I WAS GIVEN THAT "IT'S THE LAW OF SUPPLY AND DEMAND, OUR PRICES CHANGE EVERY DAY..." So, from the telephone call experience, to the conflicting experience in person, Definitely did not leave me with any confidence that these guys operate within the realm of common sense business practices and I certainly would not want my belongings in their care. read more

Very terrible customer service. This company doesn't care about you! Their website states 24/7 security monitoring. We had an issue where other tenants in U-Haul truck get a hit-and-run on another vehicle and went back the next day to pull cameras. The staff was very unfriendly and did not know how to work their cameras situation and told me it's out of their control they cannot help me. They said they record but the cameras do not work. read more

I though It will be good idea to have a storage in town so I booked it on-line, then, when I looked at the unit which was ridicules I want to the office to cancel it, the guy told me that he will not be able to get me the money back but he will take care of it. than they charge me again don't want to cancel the rental. stay away from this company. I am writing to bring to your attention an unfortunate incident that occurred at your Key West location on Sunday, March 31, 2024, between the hours of 11:45 AM to 12:15PM. While I was at the Key West location, I parked my truck on the loading ramp facing camera number 8. I parked next to a U-Haul box truck, which was being unloaded by one of your other tenants. Regrettably, during the unloading process, my vehicle sustained damage, and the individual responsible did not inform me of the incident before leaving the premises.Given the office closure due to Easter, I reached out to someone via the online chat on your website. They advised me to visit the location at 9 AM, assuring me that the cameras would be rewound for review. However, upon my visit, I encountered two male employees who were unable to operate the camera system or access the camera footage from the day before. They informed me that nothing could be done and that I was out of luck. they also told me that the cameras go down all the time and that they do not record 24/7 Despite my request for assistance and the contact information of the manager, they were unable to provide any further support. I asked for the phone number to the manager or the regional manager, and I was told they could not give me the phone number to either one of these managers. I find myself at a loss and deeply disappointed by the lack of assistance provided by your on-site staff.As a valued customer, I am reaching out to your corporate office for urgent assistance. Your website indicates that you have insurance coverage and 24/7 security with video surveillance. I kindly request your support in making a claim through your insurance and resolving this matter promptly. It is imperative that the camera system be properly utilized to identify the individual responsible for the damage to my vehicle and facilitate a resolution before this situation escalates further.I would appreciate your immediate attention to this matter and request that you provide guidance on the next steps to initiate a claim and resolve the issue swiftly.Thank you for your prompt assistance in this matter. Jacks up the rates! Truth in my review is important for good or bad. Midgard bought Old Town Self Storage we used for well over a decade with very pleasant people in charge. Midgard sent an increase letter Dec. 28th 2023 and that was a 64% increase. I baulked in writing, the manager responded back in writing he would honor the old rate. Then, less than a month later another increase letter dated Feb. 4th 2024 came with a 44% increase. I wrote the manager again reiterating his original agreement less than a month earlier - which was attached to the email string to not raise the rate. At this point I was getting very suspicious. I indicating I wanted to pre-pay the old rate for the year ahead like I always had in the past, so I stated the rate could not go up when I prepaid it for the year. He phoned me and said no. He said rates would be subject to increase to the current internet priced competition. We pulled out. I and two other renters we know also are moving out as well. They will perhaps learn that Key West is a very small town and bad news travels like lightening. I have nothing bad to say about the facility itself as it's clean, other than the renter's wash room had no toilet or paper towels when we were there on a Sunday. Certainly, someone could have walked off with this. However, that was not a problem with the past owner with one exception that I can recall many years ago. read more

I have had storage units at this place for around three years and before it was bought out by Midgard Self Storage, it was a great place with friendly staff. When Midgard bought it out all they have done is raise the price on their units and the people there are rude. I went from paying $189.00 a month to $335.00. I would absolutely not recommend this place. Look elsewhere and save yourself a lot of money. read more

Edited after a 2 months of experience. When I signed up with this storage company end of May, storage was for free for one month. I requested a monthly debit order and that never happened from the company until I received messages from them regarding amount overdue on my account, even after I requested a debit order again which happened end of August I was over charged. Long story short. I was charged a total of $485.64. The rate is supposed to be $91.59 a month total of 183.18 at this point. When I requested the storage company for an invoice explaining the charges he was unprofessional and was shouting at me pretty much verbally abusive. This was on the 04th of august. Thereafter I proceeded to sent an email and text of notification of terminating contract and never got a respond on email or text. STAY AWAY from this company. I will never use Midgard storage facilities ever. At this point I'll give zero stars if I could. read more

When first getting into town I needed a place to store my belongings. Something that was affordable, clean, and secure. I came upon Midgard, the staff was courteous, friendly, and got me into a unit in less than an hour. The unit I chose was a 4x4 which was more than enough space for my belongings. I was allowed to create my own passcode for entry and for a small fee could have access to my belongings 24hrs a day. I kept my belongings there for three months and had no issues whatsoever. They are relatively new on the island, and offer other services like U-haul and sell packing materials. read more

Just tried to vacate my unit, mind you there is still 22 days left in the month of October in which I already paid in full, and the fool manager, Brandon or Brendan, tells me that because I didn't give 30 days notice that he will be charging me for the month of November as well. So not only do i not get money back for the 22 days left in the month (which im fine with) but now this crook is going to try and charge me for a month after I've been gone for 22 days! read more
