Thankfully, ClassPass has made this so much easier to switch it UP! As a part time fitness instructor with a very strong routine, I constantly find myself craving variety. This place has been on my hit list for a while and I was so happy to be able to finally go last night! And boy, am I glad I did. I tried the hot vinyasa class with Lesa and it was 60 minutes of hot and sweaty bliss. The room was packed and the VYBE was jumping! I was warmly greeted and even though I arrived a few minutes before class Lesa greeted me happily and showed me the ropes. They have towels and water/beverages for purchase. BYO yoga mat but they have those as well. The salt lamps in the studio were a beautiful touch and so were the essential oils. I parked my mat pretty close to the diffuser so I was LOVING the aromatherapy while I got my yoga on. Lesa's class was a booty kicker but she also broke it down and provided modifiers for those of us who aren't so limber but aspire to be (raises hand). Blame my tight endurance athlete hamstrings. At the end of the 60 minutes they provide you with essential oil infused cold towels. The Lakeside area is the perfect location, surrounded by luxury living as well as an abundance of retail shops. The community seems very tight knit here as well. Thankful I was able to come here and cannot wait to use my ClassPass to return for another hot class soon and very soon!!

If I could tell beginners one thing it is that you cannot have an ego going in. The instructors will give you a quick run down on how they teach, and always encourage you to modify where you need to. I am a bigger human who is out of shape at the moment, and I've not once felt out of place in this class. I'm pretty sensitive to instructors who talk about calories, "earning food", etc. and not a single instructor at waterside has given me those vibes. INSTRUCTORS: I haven't yet taken all of the instructors, but here's what I know so far! Keenan - I don't want to tell you how good Keenan's Tuesday connect class is because I don't want to have trouble booking in, but this class is high energy, fast paced, and incredibly fun. His class is good for people who want a challenge and lots of choreography. If you get bored easily, Keenan's class does not stop. ANY class can be taken by a beginner, but if you're new to spin I wouldn't start here. Bre - Bre's classes make me feel more connected to myself than any other class. If you love motivation and connection, Bre is your girl. I leave every class feeling happier. Her class is good for all experience levels and I think specifically great for trying to level up. There are so many moments where I've pushed myself to the next level with Bre. She knows how to get you there. Joni - Joni's classes are hard and fun. If you want to work on your technique and choreography I'd say Joni's class is for you. I'd say her classes vary in difficulty level, but it's never the same thing twice. I would say Joni's class is great for beginners because she is super helpful. She is uplifting and always has a smile on her face. Alana - Alana's classes are great if you love to be out of the saddle and not do as much choreo. I've only had the opportunity to take one class with Alana, but it was a great time. I think Alana's class would be best for beginners. I've taken team teach rides with Tyler and Alex, which just means I know much less about their teaching styles but here is what I learned: Tyler - Tyler gives you the opportunity to push yourself to the next level. She is super encouraging Alex - Alex is tough love and not in the way that makes you cringe. He wants you to push to your next level and is super encouraging as he gets you there.

Once you look at the prices for an annual membership here (which I think is currently $35) it seems crazy that anyone would pay for a gym membership anywhere else! In the last three months I've taken a couple of different classes. I started with the crazy sounding cycleates, which was half pilates and half spin class. Turns out, I'm more into the pilates half of that equation so I've been taking pilates classes ever since. The instructor plays great music, the people are super friendly, and they provide everything you need as far as mats, weights, etc. I'm a bit of a germophobe, so I bring my own mat. The great thing is that classes are so reasonably priced! You can try out any class if you just want to stop in - I think prices for a single class range from $2 to $8, but you can find out detailed info about drop in prices on the Grapevine website. They have been super flexible with me about trying different levels and figuring out which class works best for me without charging me any extra. I'm a total cheapskate about paying for exercise classes and this is finally an option that is in my budget and doesn't make me feel like I'm being robbed blind. Is it a community center? Yes. Does it have the fancy amenities you would find at one of the chain gyms? No. So if you like working out in luxe surroundings, you probably won't be thrilled. But I'm not really too concerned with anything other than getting off my lazy ass and doing a workout that I enjoy, so this has been perfect for me!

I enjoyed how friendly the staff was in doing so. When I did join the lady that took our info and photo was very pleasant. Pretty good size place and more than a few things to offer. I enjoy the in door track the most. Have not tried the weights located down stairs, they are always being used at the time I come. I've only been here a few times and I can appreciate that it is family friendly. They are adult and child activities for those to sign up for classes. Which is a plus for me since I have two teenagers. The only thing I don't care for is when I am jogging in the indoor track parents allow their little ones to play ahead and not being watched. They get in the way of my work out. I don't know what the rules are up for this area but it would be nice for parents to keep an eye on their children running around when people as myself are trying to work out. So far so good. Ps. I understood that they will break ground for a indoor pool soon.

I have a genuine desire to finally learn to swim and it was also suggested to aid with a personal matter. The beginners class was good in that the teacher was able to determine skill level and assign things accordingly even while working with varying levels. I was amazed to be floating in the second class and swimming underwater, then on my back by the last. My second time taking classes was a private lesson taken Jan 2026 which I wanted so I could learn a bit faster. I never made it to the deep end in the beginner and did still use the shallow end as a crutch whether mentally or literally. The private teacher was nice and we had good conversation throughout. My issue was the lack of planning. I understand they had to see where I was and go from there, but at every class I asked "so what is the plan?" when starting or for the next class and they didn't really have one. My last class I felt they were not fully present and, though I shared my goals, strengths, and challenges, I was asked to do things more in line with someone wanting to be a swimmer vs learning how to swim. Ex. I never learned breathing techniques or how to tread water but they kept trying to teach me a full stroke (again, this was not an advanced class). There were class cancellations for weather which is understandable but then another for a swim meet they hosted that I was surprised to see given those are typically scheduled in advance just like these classes. My last class was an hour on a Sunday due to this and to make up for two classes in one day. I asked again to confirm why there was no curriculum for these classes and why my two classes were so different and they replied "it really depends on the teacher. You should take the class during the day with ___". While the recommendation is nice, I fear this was an acknowledgment that the effort or knowledge was not there for lessons I paid nearly $250 for. Most of the staff is very young and again, everyone was nice however to management/whoever is in charge there needs to be more structure. As stated to both coaches, I wanted to learn a valuable skill, not join the sport. Giving two stars mostly for the first set of lessons however I will not be back or recommend.

Unfortunately, that room has now been converted into manager offices, and the class has been moved to the gymnasium--where half the court is still used for basketball during our session. It's noisy, distracting, no mirrors or proper sound system, and simply not the environment we signed up for. To make matters worse, several popular classes have been cancelled or relocated, and the locker rooms are consistently smelly and moldy, which raises serious concerns about cleanliness and maintenance. Many of us are considering canceling our memberships. We've voiced our concerns, but the management seems indifferent. It's incredibly disappointing to see a community-focused organization disregard the needs of its members like this. I hope the YMCA reconsiders these decisions and starts prioritizing member experience again. Part of a lengthy email response regarding the changes at the location: "The changes happening within the branch are certainly big ones, and I can see how, without the full context, it would feel like space is being taken away from the people who make the Y what it is--our members. What I hope to share is that while we are repurposing Group Ex 1 into office space, this shift is a reflection of the YMCA's growth as an organization, not a step away from our mission. Our team is expanding because we're serving more families, more youth, and more community programs than ever before. That kind of growth means we need more behind-the-scenes support to keep it all going--but I absolutely understand how it can look like a loss on the surface. I know that doesn't replace the feeling of losing a room or restore the exact layout that once was, but please know--this is not a step away from our members. It's a step toward being able to support even more of you. That includes exploring ways to maximize what space we do have, and yes, continuing to look at long-term growth opportunities in and around the building. We truly value you and your feedback. These classes are about more than just fitness--they're about community, connection, and joy. We're committed to keeping that alive, and we're so glad you're part of it. Thanks again for being part of our Y family."
