The restaurant is remarkably clean, always a plus. Seating was no problem. Pick a table, and drinks were easy, I love ice water, their soft beverage machine was out except for Coke, for anything else they have a well stocked refrigerator in the dining room and get your choice. 2 sizes of bottles. For the food: My husband chose Spaghetti with Meatsauce. He was not that impressed. It could have been fresh out of a jar. It would have been nice to be offered Parmesan as a topper. Maybe you have to ask. I ordered the Penne Seafood, and it had a creamy rose sauce. Seafood was 3 good-sized shrimp, 3 med scallops, and decorated on top with crabmeat. A nice presentation! However, the scallops had an "off" taste, and I chose not to eat them and did not complain to the staff either. Both dishes were steaming hot, that was great. This meal came with toasted Italian bread coated with olive oil and sparse fresh minced garlic. Service was good, just enough, and she could not have been nicer. They did a steady carryout with companies that do that job, mainly pizza. We might be back to try their pizza. They do offer a senior discount, but I'm not sure about any other discounts.

This came with a plastic glass for self-serve Coke products. No free refills, though. It was a typical sub, fresh and up to par. I ordered the much praised cheesesteak sub with raw onions and asked them to toast the roll. Our orders took all of 20 min. My sub needed something, I could not figure out exactly what. The sub was barely warm. The meat was good , the red onions were chopped (not many), and the cheese was a scant slice of American at the base of the roll. I was disappointed! Who serves American cheese on a cheese steak sub? The owner said they make it that way unless you specify otherwise (I wish I knew that when ordering). Next time, I have to give it to them. It was overstuffed. They do one heck of a carryout business. The owners were very friendly.

I am very late in giving this pizzeria its just due. I am happy to read the many good reviews from other customers. So many of the reviews I totally agree with. Middle River Pizzeria has been a go-to for so many of us in the community for so many years. The place is always clean and the ingredients used lets you know that they value putting out a great product. My favorite, the large pepperoni pizza. The pizza is respected but not respected enough. One of the owners shared with me their process of cooking the pizza and how they are able to deliver such an amazing crust. The pizza sauce is next level too. This is my go-to sub shop and when I venture out to try others' I get disappointed every time. Wonderful owners and staff and everything is good. Plus the owners are car guys like myself and it's great to discuss cars with them while waiting on my food. Middle River Pizzeria is worth the visit! read more

I just came to visit family here and this has been an all time favorite for a LONG time. I got myself a pizza Stromboli and it was so good, I don't understand why people always say "They have bad service" or "They were either rude or didn't have any energy". Because whenever I go there they are insanely nice and we even made a joke saying "You guys should open up in Goldsboro" and they said "Sure why not" so my mom says "I could find you guys the real estate for that". It's always been really good to me. Also did I mention I LOVE the design of the place, I mean other people think it's basic, but I never thought it smelled bad, the people were rude, and I just really like the overall atmosphere of the place. 10/10 would recommend if you're in the area. read more
