We Stopped here for lunch on our way back from Florida and it was delicious. Service was great! The restaurant was very nice and the bathroom was big and clean. We ordered the 1/2 fried shrimp & fried oyster plate and the thick fried catfish plate and we shared that. Everything was fried well. The coleslaw was so good. One of my favorite slaws.

Middendorf's - IYKYK. Thin fried catfish, fast services, reasonable prices (3 adults got full for $60). The thin fried catfish is their hallmark. So thin you can read the newspaper through it. Not really, but really. The hush puppies are great!

We were excited to visit this location for lunch on the way home from Mississippi because we are fond of the original location. This one is fairly new construction with a big, bright, open dining room. I ordered a French 75 which was well executed and a great deal! I received a standard champagne flute full of the cocktail, and the server also brought the rest of the gin/lemon mix and half a split of sparkling on the side. There was enough for a second drink, and I think it was under $10. We selected turtle soup and gumbo to start. The turtle soup was incredibly salty but lacking other flavor. The gumbo was not like any gumbo I've ever eaten, and not in a good way. It tasted odd and had huge chunks of vegetables. We each only took a couple of bites of our soups, which should have indicated a problem, but the server never even asked if they were okay. Entrees were better - I got thin fried catfish and oysters, my husband got sauteed frog legs, one child got boiled shrimp, another had thin fried catfish, and one selected chicken tenders. The oysters were okay, but a bit overcooked. The catfish was fried perfectly, but fishier than I've had at the original location. I was told the frog legs and boiled shrimp were very good. The chicken tenders were clearly premade, frozen tenders and overpriced for that, but the kids didn't mind. The service was okay. Our waitress was nice and helpful, but sometimes went missing for extended stretches and it took awhile to get the bill settled. I won't rush back.

The waitress was nice. The food was overpriced. The atmosphere is more Cracker Barrel than nice restauran. They served my Cabernet at 53 degrees. Any Cab drinker knows it tastes best at room temperature. Don't waste your time. There are too many excellent restaurants in this area that provide a better atmosphere and menu for the price. Try Phil's Marina.

MIddendorfs in Slidell is situated near I-10 in Slidell bringing thin-fried catfish to those traveling around Lake Pontchartrain to the east, just as the hallowed original on I-55 has provided for folks passing the lake on its western edge. Travelers who split the difference and take the Causeway are out of luck. Stop to eat midway along that route and the only thing you'll be served is a summons. The MIddendorf name has been synonymous with thin-fried catfish for decades. They're interesting and crispy but not particularly satisfying as fish. Those wanting something with more meat and less breading should opt for the thick-fish, which doesn't have the cachet but does have a satisfying core of steaming white catfish filet. There's a fried platter that's not particularly remarkable, and of course the burgers and chicken fingers for the non-seafood eaters. French fries are a common accompaniment and came out fresh and hot. The gumbo by New Orleans standards is pretty good, and for those grading on the curve extending from Pittsburgh to Boise, the best soup you will ever taste. Our big family party of nine was seated promptly on a lazy mid-afternoon where we were the only patrons for most of our meal. Service was friendly and attentive.

We stopped here after a long day of jiu-jitsu competitions for my son. Middendorfs is alway on point. Being tired and hungry we needed something familiar although this was our first time at this location. The shrimp caesar salad was delicious. The boiled potatoes in it threw me off a little though. My husband and 6 year old enjoyed the thin fried catfish. The building was very clean and inviting. Our server was ok. She was friendly but eventually disappeared when we were ready to pay the bill so we could leave.

We came mainly for the whole fried fish but decided to dine in instead. Not pictured was a cup of seafood gumbo, a pass in my book, and some onion rings, we loved them. The service wasn't the fastest but it wasn't snail slow. Our server, I think her name was Jordan and if not I'm sorry, was really really nice and accommodating. The tenderloins surprisingly were the best thing we tried. The fish, both of them, had a nice fry to it but it wasn't really seasoned. The fries, were all passes again. The shrimp on the platter was really good also. The ambience was really nice as there are a bunch of windows and there's even a patio with some sand for the kids to play in. Check this place out if you're ever in the Slidell area.

Catfish! No point in ordering anything else, thin catfish filets, battered and fried crisp. Hush puppies are nice, too.

The Impeccable Seafood Platter is what we usually order, and it never disappoints. Everything is made fresh and cooked to order--always hot and full of flavor. In the five years we've lived in Slidell, Louisiana, there hasn't been a single time that the food wasn't absolutely delicious. The fish is perfectly seasoned, and the shrimp always tastes fresh and seasoned just right. Outside of the food, we also come for the sweet tea. I don't know who's making it back there, but it is consistently good every single time. The customer service is another reason we love this place. The ladies are always kind, welcoming, and attentive. They bring your food out to the table, check on you to make sure you have everything you need, and are more than happy to pack your food to-go if you can't finish it. For two people, we typically spend around $55 for the Impeccable Seafood Platter and two drinks--but honestly, it's enough food to feed about four people. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for fresh, flavorful seafood and great service.

That was our night at Gallagher's in Slidell. We started like locals do: I had the chicken and andouille sausage gumbo, while my grandmother went straight for the turtle soup. Both bowls hit the table with the kind of depth you only get when somebody's been stirring that pot with love, patience, and a wooden spoon seasoned by a hundred Sundays. That gumbo had the holy trinity preaching, and that turtle soup could have converted a non-believer. Then came the knockout round. For me: an 11 oz filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes. For my grandmother: pampano fish with mirliton stuffing. Now listen, I've had a lot of steaks in my life. But this filet? This filet was different. This filet was butter-kissed, seared on a 500-degree plate, and cooked so perfectly it practically sang "When the Saints Go Marching In" with every bite. Melt-in-your-mouth good, eyes-roll-back-in-your-head good. I would've licked the plate clean, but with 500 degrees of molten butter, I'd have left Gallagher's looking like a crawfish boil accident victim. Worth it? Maybe. The pampano and mirliton stuffing? Out. Of. This. World. Seasoned like somebody's MawMaw was back there in the kitchen making sure you didn't leave without remembering what real Louisiana food is supposed to taste like. And then there was Desiree Faith. Let me be clear: the food at Gallagher's was phenomenal, but she was the reason the night became unforgettable. Desiree doesn't just serve. She elevates. She embodies. She executes at a level that turns dinner into an experience and guests into family. Serving, when it's done with this much purpose and precision, is not a job. It's a calling. And Desiree is the benchmark. The gold standard. The one every other server in Louisiana should be taking notes from. She read the table like a seasoned conductor leading an orchestra. Every move, every check-in, perfectly timed. She anticipated needs before they became requests, delivered everything with warmth and grace, and carried herself with the kind of presence that makes you feel cared for, seen, and valued. She wasn't just part of the meal. She was the heart of it. Exceptional doesn't even begin to describe it. She made such an impression on me that when the check was signed and the plates cleared, I hugged her. That is the kind of impact she leaves. Gallagher's should be proud beyond words to have her. She is not just a rock star, she is the lighthouse, the benchmark, the living definition of impeccable service. Gallagher's isn't just a restaurant. It's a front-row ticket to Louisiana flavor, hospitality, and soul. You leave full, you leave happy, and you leave knowing you've just been part of something special.
