I came into Midas late last year for a check engine light and upon inspection was told I needed to have one of my catalytic converters changed along with the corresponding oxygen sensor. I agreed to the repair despite the cost being extremely high at over $2300. Yes, $2300 for a catalytic converter and oxygen sensor. I was referred to them by someone I trusted so I did not get another quote. I was assured this was the only issue with my car as I let them know I only have one vehicle for my family and so reliability is of the utmost importance to me. A few days after the repair the check engine light came on again and upon pulling the code P0430 which is for a faulty catalytic converter I took the car back to Midas to have it checked. I was told the car's ECU would correct itself after a while as the new part "broke in". I trusted them and left it at that. I was told I had nothing to worry about as there is a one year warranty on the work and part so if anything came up related to the repair they would take care of it. Fast forward 6-7 months later, the light came on again and I brought the car in to get checked and once again the catalytic converter code came up. This time they told me I should change the other converter and 02 sensor to get rid of the code. They did not tell me the converter was bad or had broken but that I should just repair it. I declined. Finally yesterday I got another check engine light regarding the converter again but this time I hear a rattling from under the car along with a misfire code. I brought the car back in since I was still within the 1 year warranty period and they found that indeed the converter they installed had gone bad, however, they said my car misfiring was to blame. I asked about the warranty and they now said there was a 25,000 mile stipulation for them to be able to honor the warranty but since my car had gone 36K miles (11K over) they would not honor the warranty. This 25K mile stipulation is nowhere in the paperwork I was given and when disclosing the warranty to me initially I was never made aware of the mileage limitation. Long story short they blamed my car's misfire for the converters failure despite never misfiring prior to the new converter being installed and never misfiring after installation until this most recent check engine light. It should be fraud to not disclose this huge of a requirement for the warranty, especially on a $2300 repair. Despite their part failing (which was not OEM despite charging $2300) I was blamed for the failure and nothing was done to resolve. Midas left me high and dry, out $2300, with no other form of transportation. Thanks Midas. read more

Midas wanted to charge my girlfriend almost $800 in repairs. I went a mile down the road to the local auto parts store and bought the part needed for $180 and changed it in 10 minutes with a flathead and a 10mm socket in the parking lot of the dollar tree across the street. When I went back to Midas to leave her car and get in mine to go pick her up, some douche nozzle angrily confronted me in the parking lot and accused me of being a mobile mechanic. I guess the guy was really struggling to make that Snap-On payment. Also when I dropped the car off earlier that day I watched them almost hit the roof/windshield of a car they had finished working on by closing the door before the car was outside of the bay. Real professionals. Especially as a minority woman, this circumstance is an unfortunate reality when dealing with auto repair shops. They cross threaded my tire 2 times and still refused to own up to the shitty repair job. Hey i give you credit for previous repairs, but don't make me sound like a fool when the part you're repairing is an assembly i place onto oem vehicles daily. I have a 2012 BMW 528i and I took it first to Kelly BMW. They quoted me $2700 for 1 CV Joint. Midas put 2 CV joints on for $2300. They used the same manufactured parts that Kelly quoted. It rides better than before, would highly recommend them for anything your car may need. read more

I took my car to Midas in Westerville, and I arrived at 4:50 pm, since the appointment time indicated that I could make an appointment from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm for my oil change. When I arrived in a very unpleasant manner, the employee who assisted me told me that he cannot be attending at these hours because the duration is one hour, and I told him that online it told me that I could come from 4-6 pm, and he told me He said that he leaves at 6:00 pm to see his family and what would happen if he arrived at 5:46 pm, he couldn't attend to me. That he was going to attend to me just this once at this time, since they don't work more than one hour after departure. I think they should have online the indication of the duration of the work so as not to delay their departure time. I told him that my departure time from work is 4:30 pm and I barely had time to arrive at 4:50 pm, and he told me that he didn't care, and that he had to leave at 6:00 am. p.m. But the thing that bothered me the most was that an American came later to change the oil and treated him with kindness and only told him to wait in the room, that they were already doing the work and he didn't tell him anything about the time. I felt discriminated against because of my Latin race. read more

In September i had a terrible experience with this location. I made an appt online and got a confirmation email. When i arrived, the manager Dustin told me that i didn't have an appointment and i am supposed to call to confirm this appointment if i make it online. ( i had been doing this for 3 years so this simply isn't true) Dustin also said some pretty nasty things to me that i won't repeat. I left and called his district manager who did compensate me for an oil change and and gave me a couple free oil change coupons, which i appreciated. Fast forward to December 29th, i called this same location to schedule an oil change for January 9th. I decided to not bother with the website anymore and just call to make the appointment since Dustin claimed i would need to do that anyway. Today ( January 9) i call to confirm my appointment and Dustin answers the phone to tell me i have no appointment in his system. I tell him to check again because i absolutely called and scheduled it. He checks again and tells me, since i scheduled my appointment so far in advance, their system deleted my appointment. This is literally laughable service from Midas. The only reason i am even still scheduling appointments with them is because i got free coupons for the unsatisfactory service last time! The Westerville location is clearly incapable of doing something simple such as keeping people's appointments! Before moving to Westerville i never had a problem with scheduling appointments online ( or over the phone)at the high street location for several years! I have zero confidence in this location and I'm ready to just blacklist the company as a whole and throw the coupons away!! i don't recommend this location at all read more

Super fast turn around time & great customer service. So, I'm minding my own business, driving down that road and all the sudden my car sounds like a jet engine. It is sooooooooooo loud as I'm driving I can feel the vibration in my chest. I get out of my car to investigate and the front of the muffler has become disconnected from my car and is dragging the ground. Oh yay!! A nice guy I work with straps that bad boy up and I head to Midas later that night to drop off my car (around 10pm). By 9am the following morning, they've already called me with what the problem is and a quote. I tell em to go ahead and fix Sabrina (that's the name of my Sebring). By 1pm my car is done. I was drawn out to the Westerville Midas with an online coupon for an oil change and tire rotation. As I would expect from any shop, they completed both of those tasks efficiently. It was their professionalism that made my trip worth recording in a review. This shop provided an honest and free inspection of other systems in my car, identified several issues, and gave me a sheet explaining what they had found. Obviously they did this to see if they could get more business, but I felt that unlike other shops they weren't pushy at all about getting me to fix the problems then and there. Instead, they simply made me feel better informed about how to best deal with taking care of my car on my own. I left feeling that this shop was honest, knowledgeable, and friendly. I can't use those three traits together to describe any other repair shop that I have visited. I will say though that the television in the waiting room was annoying. However, televisions are in almost every waiting room everywhere so they can't be faulted for that. read more

I know these guys will fix whatever the problem is quickly and at a fair price to boot. They never make you feel like an idiot when you bring your car in for something small, either. I would give this place 5 stars if it wasn't for the condition in which they left my car after multiple oil changes. The interior of my car is immaculate and free of stains, etc. After the last 4 oil changes, I have had grease/oil on the inside of the driver side door, up top where they place the information sticker for your next oil change, on my steering wheel, etc. I've also had complete grease/oil hand prints on the hood of my car and the door handle. After the first complaint, the manager offered a complete car detail and the gentleman apologized who was responsible for the grease/oil. After the last time it happened, the guy who was responsible was bothered that I asked him to bring a rag out to my car and wipe the marks off. He acted unprofessional and didn't apologize or otherwise and sent me on my way. I called the next day and the manager (same one as before) was seemingly bothered as well about the situation. I didn't want a hand out or recovery and specifically noted that I was calling to make him aware. He said, "Ok. Is there anything else I can do for you?" I don't see it improving and thus I will be taking my services elsewhere. If it's happened to me on several occasions, I can't imagine it hasn't happened to anyone else. read more

Worst misdiagnosis ever. I came in for a oil change and asked for an estimate because my car acts like it wants to overheat when it's idle. The technician came back and said there was a steady leak in my water pump and I need a new thermostat. I was quoted a price and everything. I got a second opinion and boy were they off. The coolant reservoir was leaning against the belt and melted the side. That's why my car was overheating. I even had my water pump and thermostat tested. Nothing was wrong with them. I'm very upset and hugely disappointed. After all the great reviews, I thought this place was different. read more

I usually go through the Midas at preserve blvd but a lot of technicians that I trust to work on my 1966 dodge coronet have moved to different locations... Recently I was looking for someone to set up my carburetor on my 66 ( I know, ancient technology) and I was passed to the Westerville Midas to a tech who SUPPOSEDLY knew how to properly set up these types of cars...that when I first encountered this 'bang master' chevy mechanic who knew ZERO about anything to do with my dodge. I picked my car and of course they just tried to take my $ and run me out of the door...problem was the car would not run, shook violently to the point I was sure major damage would occur ... well, extended champion plugs were put in that the pistons banged against! Bang master could not even cross reference plugs! Correct plugs were put in and amazingly the dodge ran smooth! This moron also said he was a 'chevy guy' and wasn't into mopars, they are pretty damn lucky I don't sue there ass off if there is ANY damage to my motor because of this idiot... that is still on the table until a real mechanic checks it shortly... Cody the manager is a good guy but did nothing to rectify the situation ... would give zero stars ! STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION read more

I always receive good service at this location. Hands down the best one in Columbus area. The manager, Cody, is all about getting the job done. He does not over-diagnose when it comes to car check ups and does not force you to get extra work done if they do notice something is wrong. I've tried the Karl Road location and it was nowhere near as great of service as I received on Westerville Rd. Hands down, Midas on Westerville Rd is my first call when scheduling any car repairs. read more

Crooks! The asst Manager (Steve I do believe) is a true snake!! First off when I got there for my scheduled appt he told me I wasnt in the book for an appt (even though he was the person I spoke with a few days earlier to schedule the appt). So after waiting for a hour they finally pulled my car in for an alignment. I had received a 10% off card from Discount Tire for $59.99 a week before and when I showed the card to Steve he instantly seemed bothered. He asked why I needed an alignment and I told him I just replaced my rack and pinion which comes with new tie-rod ends so I just wanted to make sure everything was lined up correctly. He instantly started rambling on about how much work he would have to do since I put on aftermarket parts but I explained to him that I didnt have any aftermarket parts as everything came from the dealership and were OEM parts. So they pull my car in the bay and about 10mins later Steve comes up to me and shows me a graphic on the monitor. He begins to point out how bad the alignment was and that he was going to have to order all these special parts to complete the job and that I was looking at $250-$300 worth of work! I instantly had them pull my car out of the bay! I knew he was full of crap as I know a thing or two about cars and do most of the maintenance work on my vehicles myself. I then took my car to the Bob Cardwell Dodge dealership on Morse Rd to have the alignment done. The alignment service was $99 but atleast I knew my Charger was in good hands plus they do a courtesy inspection and vacuum for free. About 45mins later they came and got me and told me my Charger was ready to go! I asked the service tech if they ran into any trouble performing the alignment and if any special parts were needed, he said no everything went smooth as silk! He then gave me the before and after alignment printouts showing how they were able to correct everything! $99 later my car was buttoned up, freshly vacuumed with a nice free car freshener!! Stay away from these crooks at Midas especially the asst manager Steve! read more

Too bad there is not a Zero star rating. When asked I stated I wanted to get an estimate the cost for replacing the muffler. The customer service person Dustin asked if I had gotten quotes from other places and when I asked why that mattered he got an attitude and crappy tone saying so he would know if he needed to give a competitive quote or not. Not sure why that matters or why they would not want to give a competitive quote every time. I then handed him a receipt for previous service where the muffler has a lifetime warranty where replacement does not include labor and stated again I just wanted to get an estimate the cost for replacing the muffler. Then Dustin became more rude and made some smart remark about how I was now providing him information. I replied it did not change that I wanted to get an estimate the cost for replacing the muffler. Dustin then became louder and told me to leave because he was not going to service me with my attitude.
