Do not use Midas for services on higher end vehicles. I came in looking for a ECU reflash on my Afla Romeo giulia after recently replacing my turbo. After being told that they have experience working on my vehicle i entrusted them to perform the work they claimed they can perform. First they charged me $500 before performing the work which I thought was strange. Then i receive a call while they are re programming my ECU and they claim i need a new battery and it cost $300 + install cost($100). After declining their overpriced battery i located a battery next to their location for $150. Upon finding this battery the manager becomes extremely rude stating its his way or the highway and if i don't want to take his advise i can go to another shop. After picking up my vehicle and being down $700 for a simple job my car was still not drivable because the ECU was not reprogrammed properly. He states reprograming takes 3 hours but calls me 1 hour after installing the battery claiming the vehicle is done. The correct procedure should have been battery first then reset ECU with correct power. This was not done now im out $700 and stuck with the same issues i came in with. read more

I had work done on my car twice on seperate times. I considerd this to be my place to go for car repairs until today. I asked to get a PCV valve replaced and I already had the part. The clerk said it would be $435 dollars, and I said are you sure thats right and showed the clerk there are two hoses to connect it, but i cant reach the second hose so i decided to take it there. I left and took it to another auto shop for $75 dollars. I honestly feel like i got robbed for previous work and will never go back here again. stay away from this place the owner is garbage and they will rip you off! i blame myself for not reading the reviews and took my truck in for a hill decent control warning light. they said it will cost $129.99 for a diagnostic to dermine the cause of the issue, which i agreed. an hour later i get a call from the marco the owner who is the biggest piece of garbage i ever came across, said it will cost me $610 to replace a faulty brake light switch. couple hours later i get a call from marco again who said they changed the switch but the issue was not fixed and it would cost an addition $1800 for a remanufactured or $3000 for a new hydraulic. when i started to question why im being charged $600 for replacing a part that didnt fix the problem and now they want an additional $1800/$3000 marco started to insult me as though i was playing dumb and being difficult. i told him not to do anything else and i was going to pick up the truck. when i got to the shop i confronted marco about his unprofessional and rude behavior and thats when the insults started flying back in forth. its no surprise why this place is empty with no customers. so bottom line i paid $610 for an issue that wasn't fixed and got insulted by this discussing owner because i questioned the work the was performed on my trunk. stay away! read more

Called ahead for a price on a oil change. I told them V6 all synthetic oil they quoted me about $85. I brought it in they charged me $108.00 because anything over 5 quarts cost more. Car specs call for 6 quarts. They changed 3 times as much for the 6 th quart. So dishonest quote to get me in there. They told me I needed brake job rotors were scored. Also needed new struts and my tires were worn out. Tires have at least 50% left. Took car to my regular mechanic he told me don't need anything no charge. Midas is dishonest a ripoff. Midas Muffler Customer Service 5/12/2021 1982 I purchased the Midas muffler lifetime guarantee for a classic 1973 Mustang which I purchased new in 1973. 48 years ago. 2021 I needed new mufflers. Trying to use the guarantee. I called the nearest Midas shop 134 miles away. I contacted Midas of Ventura. I told them I have the guarantee for a 73 Mustang. Midas of Ventura said come on down. I get there and he says he does not have the proper mufflers. He needed to order them. Why he didn't order them for me is the first problem. He said it would take a week. Ok a week turned into 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks. I called every week. I do not believe it takes 8 weeks to order the proper mufflers. I went to Auto Zone, in stock ? I called over 5 local muffler shops. They all said no problem as all 5 muffler shops had them in stock. It is clear that Midas of Ventura did not wish to honor the Midas guarantee. I contacted Midas Corporate office ( great service) Customer service immediately called Midas of Ventura. Customer service immediately called me back and said Midas of Ventura did not know who I was. I have been calling Midas of Ventura every week for 3 months. I then call Midas Ventura and suddenly he remembers me. Still no parts? 3 months? Bull shit. Midas of Ventura said he could do something to Mickey Mouse my system that he would have to rebuild my system. Mickey Mouse a classic show car. I am not going to let this idiot touch my car. I called Midas of Los Angeles on Figueroa and Midas on W. Washington in Los Angeles. I did not tell them I had the guarantee. Both companies said they are stock mufflers no problem, come on down. I proceeded to tell them of my situation about Ventura. They both laughed and said Midas of Ventura does not want to use my guarantee. That Ventura would rebuild my system which does not need rebuilding for a large fee that would cover the cost of the mufflers. I spent 104 dollars in fuel (268 miles round trip) and a night in a hotel 125.00 a total of 232.20 So now this guarantee was not much of a guarantee. I called my Neighborhood Muffler shop. Mufflers in stock, next day service, 288.00 installed in less than 45 minutes. Midas of Ventura are dishonest hacks. I would like Midas to refund the money I spent on the guarantee. I met the Devil today! MARCOS THE OWNER, A WOLF IN SHEEPS CLOTHING!! DONT TAKE YOUR CAR Marcos and his son took care of everything offered credit through midas and easy pay. I qualified for both. At this time, I just went with the flow due to needing my car fixed asap. Well, that was a mistake. I did not review my paper in detail until after signing all docs, and the easy pay document reflected 90 day interest free and if not paid by 90 days, there was a 78% interest rate. I was shocked when I saw this rate. I asked him if this correct, he said yes. I said well if I would've known this, I wouldn't have done this, I have the money to pay." I told him you should let people know about this rate, sometimes people don't read....I take blame here. But this could potentially ruin someone financially. We had a brief conversation regarding that. So, fast forward after I leave , my car battery is still failing, and I am no longer I. Oxnard area, I've relocated to the valley. 1 month in, I called Marcos on 2/24 to let him know my battery light was still on and my battery was still failing. I spoke with his son on this day who knew nothing from anything, so I requested to speak with his dad Marcos and Marcos in formed that he was busy and he would call me back around 4- 430 pm. I patiently waited for tge call, no call was received. So I was in town and drove to the office on 2/25. I came in and Marcos saw my pull in and when he came in the office I stated that I was waiting on the phone that I never received in a joking manner, but he got a bit defensive and said ...yeah I wasn't going to call you back, I was to busy. Just the tone and verbiage he used was shocking to me. Right away, he began to be rude defensive and unprofessional. He was already in defense and stated that to me because, according to him, "he's been there before." So the conversation took a sharp left. I asked him if my battery was indeed bad, and could we just have done the alternator instead of the batter cause the battery was still failing and how old the battery was. He got furious that I was questioning his work and began to talk so rude to me and so unprofessional that I was in shock. He said, "You come in here talking all this God stuff, but question my work, you shouldn't do that. You should trust people." Again, I was shocked! I said is that how you do business? Just trust people to do what they say, regarding your car, your family, other things," he said smiling....yes I do." I told him well, we are different, I dont do that Especially with mechanic work. If I could give this place a ZERO I would. I called on the weekend to make an appointment. They had no openings so I booked Monday @ 4:00 PM. We arrived 5-10 minutes early. We drove up. A boxy older model Japanese white car was just leaving. The only other car was a van and it was in the far right bay. We asked how long (since we had an appointment) until our car will be ready. When checking the make & model information, a female employee (his boss?) came out and checked things out. The employee, Marco, returned and said it would take 45 minutes. He also leaned in and told me quietly that I don't need the free tire rotation as my good tires were on the back. He went on to explain quietly that you need your best tires, in the rear, for traction. We haven't had our tires rotated in a year. But I said OK. My husband thought that 45 minutes was long. We decided to cross the street and have an early dinner at Toppers. We asked the employees where the crosswalk was. They pointed it out and off we were. We came back at 4:45. We saw that our car was JUST being driven to the bay. REALLY??? We told "Marco" that this was completely unacceptable. We made an appointment, we gave our phone number if there were any concerns and we even TOLD them we would be waiting at Topper's and WE WOULD RETURN AT 4:45!!!!! He said that the bay wasn't available as they didn't have the correct oil filter for the car in that (left) bay. (The bay he had pulled our car into was the empty one that I had watched the white car leave earlier in this post.) Ohh. I was mad!!! Don't lie to me. I asked twice, "Why didn't you call us???" Upon walking in I was greeted very nicely. The inside was clean and there was plenty of waiting space. The guy at the front desk was Marco. He was a really helpful and cool guy. Very professional and knowledgeable. I brought my extremely lowered 335i here to get some work done on my exhaust. They told me I'd have to weight because the lift they use for modified cars like mine was used at the moment. I'm very happy they said this and actually have a lift they use for cars like this. It shows they care and take their time to put a extremely lowered car on the lift right. I watched them put my car on the lift and they took extreme care and caution. Thanks guys. On august 25th 2020 my husband brought his 2011 ford escape into this midas location. The air conditioning went out, and he needed it to be fixed before returning to vegas. They stated we would need to completely replace the ac unit in the vehicle. We were upset because that was 1200 bucks we would have to spend but understood these things happen and we paid and our ac unit was replaced. My husband left Ventura to return back to Vegas for work and on his way the ac unit went out again. My husband was upset as we just spent a substantial amount of money to have this issue repaired just for it to immediately go out again 5 days later. My husband came back to ventura to the midas on main st and they said it was a loose wire . They " fixedit " and rushed him out. four days later the ac was out again . My husband had to go back to vegas and took our car to a midas location there. (tropicana) where the said the fixed the issue. And then 30 minutes later it went out again. So then he brought it immediately back to the Tropicana location and the associate said the Ventura midas damaged the wiring and that he would have to take it back to the Ventura location. So as instructed, my husband took it back to ventura midas on main st. So this brings us to now the 5th time we are having to bring it to midas. Meanwhile we called the corporate office to figure out what the heck was going on. Today 10/12/20 at 8 am we brought it back to midas on main st Ventura. At 11 am they called and stated that it in fact was NOT an a.c. issue. That the wiring from the fan was damaged and some how they missed this the first 4 times . And now they need another 750 dollars to repair the issue. The same issue they didn't notice 4 times before. After we already paid 1200 dollars for a new ac unit that apparently wasn't the issue. We understand that people make mistakes. We are relatively easy going until people and businesses try and take advantage of a situation and continue to try to capatiaze on another opportunity to make more money. All we asked was for midas on main st to accept responsibility and fix the real issue at hand on our vehicle. And not charge us an additional 750 dollars. Seems simple right ? So explain to me midas why 1. You are charging an addition 750 dollars. 2. Update! I got my car repaired here back in February and barley drive it because I take the bus to work in SB. I've noticed that when I drive over 60 on the 101 the front of my car shakes really bad. After they hooked up my car Marcos I guess shop manager came out and told me your car is in fine conditions nothing wrong with it at all. I brought my pickup in for repair. There were several problems and it needed a good amount of work and I was quoted a good price. First of all it was never checked after the repair to see if the problems were all taken care of. It was brought back twice and more work was done to finally run like it always had. I was told all their work had a warranty, that was good for me. Within a few days of driving it was running bad again, I was irritated and brought it to another shop, Tune-Ups Plus, to have the problem analyzed. It was one of the sparkplug coils that had just been replaced. The part cost me a top dollar price from Midas and it was second rate part. The replacement was a Ford part that cost less than half as much. Then a week later my engine light came on. I brought to Tune-Ups Plus again to find out it was the fuel pressure regulator that was just replaced ten days ago. This was also a second rate brand part that was charged top dollar for. I want to warn anyone that thinks of going there, DON'T!! The warranty would have replaced the parts with the same junk that went bad and I do not want to go back every few weeks to have junk parts replaced with more junk. I also wonder if they would say it was another problem to get paid more. They replaced the fuel pump, filter and level gauge unit too. The level gauge is not working properly and I will not go back for another junk part. I hope the brake system does not fall apart from second rate brake discs and pads. read more

Well, that's the last time I take my vehicle to this Midas location or any Midas location. My car problems worsened with each successive visit to the Ventura location, until the owner/manager finally said "you don't have a problem with your car, you just can't drive it with the air conditioning." Why didn't he tell me that before I spent over $3,000 to have all the coil and the transmission replaced to hopes my car would run safely?! Also, I don't know how not using the A/C in the summer heat would have kept that newly replaced transmission from falling out of gear while I was driving, but I wasn't going to give Marco another chance to make my car worse. (FYI: another mechanic in town found the real problem which cost less than $900). And I'm disgusted with the way Midas Corporate handled my complaint. I was supposed to hear from a district manager within a few days of my first complaint; no response. After my second call, my complaint file was noted as "escalated" but that did nothing to generate a response from Midas. They also did not respond to my two requests to verify receipt of my email containing all the documentation regarding my problems with this location. When someone in the consumer relations department finally decided to get me an answer, I was told that internally they spoke with the owner of the Ventura Midas who then told Corporate he had resolved the issue. Apparently he resolved it in his own mind because he never contacted me! I asked for partial reimbursement based on the issues of this situation and Midas refused. I've been going to Midas since i've gotten my car and all iI have to say is there customer service has never been less than exceptional. The employees are always attentive to my needs concerning my car and check on me when waiting in the lobby. Even when I call the same day they're always willing to get me in last minute. I wouldn't trust anyone with my baby. read more

This is my first time writing a review on Yelp. I must say, this people here at Midas in Ventura deserve it the best reviews! The manager, Marcos Mancilla and his associate Christian were fantastic! As well as the others there, who m I didn't catch thier names. They were efficient and so professional. As a single Mom, I need my car daily!! I need it to be safe and performing at its best! My brakes went out last night in the rain...scary! The team here were honest with me, and got it fixed so I can get back to work and not miss a beat! They were So helpful! I'll definitely recommend them to everyone in need of car service! read more
