First when I went in, Bob was having a hostile conversation with a customer because he told them a set price and then changed it by a few hundred dollars, and they couldn't afford it ( how he spoke to them made me almost walk out which I regret not doing). Next, someone from the company who changes out their equipment came, and Bob instantly started barking him orders. The man said Hi Goodmorning about three times. Bob was like WHAT?? and the guy said you never greet me, I at least want a Hi, How are you? I thought this was very unprofessional that I had to experience this and felt bad for the guy Bob made upset. Second, i was charged 570 just to recharge my AC. I was told because it takes 1234YF. Anyways, all my recharge leaked out so I gave him a call and he said I'm gonna have to pay 170 for the diagnostic because they didn't put dye in my system... yes they did. I see green dye on the outside which means they did it and a sloppy job. Anyways, I took my car to the Midas in Davis because I don't wanna deal with Bob and they charge me 290 for the same thing that Bob in Vacaville did!!!! I was ripped off. It was brought to my attention that coolant was low and they would fill for $20. I declined and figured I could do that. The days that all fluids are checked and filled are gone. Anyway when I went to open the reservoir cap, I found it just setting on the opening. I filled the reservoir and replaced the cap correctly. Have only had my car serviced at Midas so am questioning previous visits. read more

Update: Midas has refused to do anything. I asked them to help with the fees I had to pay the dealership, but they won't even refund my original fee I paid them. Corporate never called me but notes that they were declining my claim. The local shop called me on May 18th and I haven't heard anything since. read more

I took my Jeep in to have four shocks installed. They installed the shocks, but didn't install the rubber shock absorber covers that came with the shocks. They installed the ones in the front, but not in the rear. The gentleman at the counter named Bob told me that he had some very experienced mechanics working for him and they would install them correctly and I trusted him once I looked under the Jeep and saw that they had not completed the job correctly. They even kept the other two rubber boot covers and never gave them back to me or explained why they were not installed. read more

1 Star -- Extremely Unprofessional and Unsafe Experience Literally the most shady and unprofessional auto shop I've ever been to. I went to Midas for a front brake and rotor replacement -- something they're supposed to specialize in. My car is only three years old and had zero issues before I brought it in. When I picked it up, six check engine lights were on and a "System Brake Failure" alert appeared. The owner, Bob, assured me the car was safe to drive, but when I tried to leave, the brakes didn't work at all. Thankfully, I was still in the parking lot and no one was hurt. They kept my car for two more days, and when I returned, the manager didn't apologize or offer any compensation -- even though they caused the issue and left me without a car for two days with five kids. This was by far the worst customer service experience I've ever had. I strongly recommend going anywhere else for brake work. read more

I've been coming to Midas for the last three years. I've never had a problem with them until the last time I brought my car in for an oil change. At first, everything seemed to be fine but after a while, I noticed that whenever I parked my car somewhere, upon moving it, there would be a huge oil stain under my car. I thought that I somehow punctured my oil pan, so I brought my car back into Midas, told them the problem, and was told that I'd have to replace my oil pan, which would cost me hundreds of dollars. I hastily agreed, left my keys with them, and went home. When I returned to pick up my car, the car technician told me the good news; I had not punctured my oil pan, instead, the technician who did the last oil change for me mistakenly used the wrong oil drain plug which was causing the oil pan to leak oil. I was so thankful to hear the technician say this because 1. I didn't have to pay crazy money for a new oil pan and 2. he could've lied to make more money, but didn't. I will always appreciate his honesty, however, what would have happened if I didn't notice the oil leakage? Nevertheless, I like going to Midas. They occasionally try to recommend things that you probably don't need, but just use sense and get a second opinion. read more

Had my first interaction with Midas and Dane and team knocked it out of the park. I just replaced my tires and was advised to look into alignment due to some issues with wear. I called around a few spots for quotes and Midas was recommended as an honest place. Dane gave a competitive quote to fix the alignment and was so nice on the phone. He then met me outside when I arrived, very welcoming. I left him my car, fully expecting a 110 bill. I was shocked to get a call that my alignment was fine and the inspection was complimentary. This says so much about their character, especially that they didn't know me since it was my first time there, and I would have never been the wiser. I'll definitely be going back. WITH ALL OF THE REPUTABLE PLACES TO TAKE YOUR CAR IN VACAVILLE AND FAIRFIELD, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY ZERO REASONS TO STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE, LET ALONE ENTRUST YOUR CAR TO THESE AMATEURS! They MIGHT be capable of handling the basics with common vehicles, BUT WHY TAKE THE GAMBLE? For starters, the owner, Navi, has zero knowledge about cars and runs his business like he's desparate for cash. I took a my rare exiotic sports car in because the clutch failed. After THREE MONTHS of guess-work diagnostics and watching a slew of sketchy mechanics come and go(get fired) they realized after opening this can of worms, it was out of their league they were going to tow it to another location. Glad I showed up before the owner towed my car! GET THIS, the owner was gonna rent a u-Haul towing bracket and TOW THE CAR HIMSELF by dragging it behind his car! Had he actually done so, he would have caused il-reversable damage to a car that I have $30,000.00 in modifications in. The manufacturer clearly makes this clear, the car MUST be towed on a flatbed truck. I'm just glad I intervened befor his carelessness ruined my car. Then I got to thinking... What other haphazzard B.S. happended to my car if they did not know the basics of car care. Bottom line, there was additional damage done in the engine compartment and I was told I needed $1,300.00 of DEEP-ENGINE work done!!! Why would an engine with ONLY 25,000 miles on it need such an overhaul??? I also have an investigation going on: The alleged possibility that someone swapped my NEW catalytic converter and performance starter for cheaper/older parts. Scary. There are plenty of better shops In Vacaville, I would not put your trust in Midas Vacaville. We had an extremely poor experience on 7/15/23. We took our car in for simple oil change. The staff came back and recommended that we replace our rotors and brake pads. We we're reluctant to do so but the staff made it sound like we needed to (later we found out that we didn't need to replace yet). This is a common theme as they typically recommend unneeded service as they are struggling to get business. When the brake work was done, I drove home and parked car in garage. 1 hour later we loaded up the car with our family of 6 as we were headed out of town to see family. When I tried to back out of garage the car was stuck. Could not go backwwrds or forward. - Called Midas and they weren't sure what happened. Said that it needed to be towed back to their shop. The gentlemen I spoke to said that "I" had to call the tow company. Absurd. I called the tow company and they let me know that Midas needs to call them to request the tow. - Midas called tow and then called me back, said it would be a half hour before tow came. hour and half later , tow shows up. They brought the wrong tow truck as they brought flat bed but knew that they needed to get it out of our garage. - Called Midas and they basically said can we do this on Monday (Today is Saturday) as they weren't sure when the new tow truck would arrive. This made us furious as our weekend was already ruined and they wanted to push to monday vs staying later on a Saturday to fix "their" mistake. - second tow truck finally arrived and the car was towed back to Midas. They called us and let us know that they had made a mistake which caused the brake pads and rotors to essentially mesh together. This speaks to the inexperienced young workforce they have as this was a simple job. They re-did the work and called us to tell us it was ready. The staff showed very little empathy for the situation and did not offer to provide any sort of discount or accommodation for the Inconvenience. our weekend was ruined and we also incurred uber costs to travel back and forth. In addition , I wanted to add that they also tried to bash the tow company for being "slow" throughout this process which showed their lack of accountability and character. The tow company was actually awesome and I recommend them to all, Vacaville Tow. I dont think I've ever written a review online but I felt compelled to do so given the way we felt about our service. Again , i highly recommend steering away from midas , especially if you are not a "car person". Along with the poor quality of work , you are more susceptible to being taken advantage of for unneeded service. read more

Wow! I have not been to a Midas shop in over 10 years but I was pleasantly surprised with what I found here yesterday. I was having some emission related issues and was unable to get in anywhere else. I came here as a last resort based on my previous experiences with Midas. I was immediately welcomed and they had my truck on the rack within 10 minutes of arrival. The problem was diagnosed and repaired properly and I couldn't ask for a better customer service and responsiveness. Hats off to Navi and Terrell for their great customer service! So I brought my Car there for routine oil change. Guy at register then later tells me I need new tires badly! Said he'd give me a great deal on tires he's got in stock! They didn't bother to rotate tires because he said their policy was not to rotate tires that are in bad shape. I said no thanks I'll get tires at Sam's Club! I went to Sam's Club and two techs informed me my tires were "in great shape" and Midas guy was trying to con me!!! Note: After Midas had changed my oil I noticed my car began to underperform so I took it to my local mechanic. I just wanted to say they automatically double or triple the parts costs. And in my opinion they are very dishonest. Brake work was done on my 2021 Dodge Ram. First of all they left grease marks all over my truck. And my alignment was way off after they did my brake job. I took the truck back and management tried to tell me my calipers were bad. Which after over 1 hour wait time they told me to take the truck somewhere else that they did not have the proper tools to do the job. I got a second opinion and the calipers are not bad they are fine. If you have to lie to get work then you should not be in business. Integrity and honesty goes a long way. I don't know how many other people they have told to BEND OVER. Unfortunately I am just one to figure out their schemes and dishonesty. I don't think their mechanics know the difference between a wrench and a ratchet. I am sure they know what a screwdriver is though. Lol Also a little leery of a Manger who tells everyone he just got off of Covid and not even wearing a mask WTF come on Man. You need to at least wear a mask and practice the 6 feet role. Went to get our breaks changed. 1st time going. We left and realized the tire was wobbling and jerking the steering wheel out of my hands. 2nd time going they said its all good now they just didn't tighten things all the way. Now my breaks are still squeaking. This is ridiculous. For the amount of money we spent it shouldn't be squeaking at all. Nor should i have had to go back to get thing tightened after they took the car apart. Driving with a wobbly tire is dangerous plus when i brought everything to their attention they were rude and disrespectful to me and our car. I took my vehicle in to be checked for overheating. Midas did a diagnostic check and came back recommending cooling fans, modules and a coolant reservoir all for the price of $3,539 not including the labor of $613 for a total of $4,152. With my military discount it came to $3,246. After looking online for the price of the parts needed I contacted another auto shop that was rated A+ with the BBB. They did their own diagnostic check and my car only needed a cooling fan module. Parts and labor came to $907.61. I used to take my vehicle to Midas for oil changes. Now I will never do business with them again. BTW Midas isn't listed with the BBB. read more

So...this is a current review. Previously I had a horrid experience hence my previous review. I've always used Midas for my car service because they offer a great comprehensive check and oil change with free tire rotation which is also economical for my pocketbook. I'm glad to see they are under new management with new staff and able to accommodate me this morning. The office has been fully remodeled - they were closed for two months which I surmised was they either closed for good or was being resold. Thank goodness it was the latter. The new customer area is welcoming and clean with Keurig coffee and water refreshments. The sales area is reconfigured nicely as well for a much more clean appearance - the sales staff much friendly and helpful than before. To be truthful - the previous staff seemed...ghetto and a tad unprofessional plus they never answer the phone. It's just a overall more professional look and feel and I'll be happy to resume my automotive service needs here. Today I'm a happy girl ;-) P.S. Robert - the store manager is awesomely helpful expecially because I ask a million questions. And I didn't feel like I was being upsold. Even better. Thumbs up. read more
