So, me and my wife just moved to Modesto from San Jose and we were looking for a genuine shop to service our Charger. Like most, I google searched auto shops and came across a few top rated shops, but they were all completly booked. I decided to with Midas, although hesatanlty because I feel most commercial shops are rip offs. Whats my opinion now? Me and my wife were completely blown away at the level of customer service. I thought I needed a breaklight replaced, but it was actually a smaller issue which they quickly fixed free of charge. Got our rental car stuck in the middle of nowhere on our way to Yosemite and came here. Herman, the owner, was incredibly helpful and even helped us with the entire process of getting the fees covered by the rental car owner. We needed to get the car fixed on the day of: we had a radiator leak on an old car, and he told us he would do anything to get it fixed ASAP. The workers worked on it even after closing time, which I really appreciated. Free Wi-fi helps the time fly by as well! Herman even offered us an Uber to go buy food and offered us anything to eat or drink. Felt like I was at home the entire time I was waiting (4 hours)! read more

Let it be known that I'm a middle aged woman who's not knowledgeable about cars. This means I need to go somewhere that I feel I'm being treated honestly. I've got a 18 year old car Camry that I just want to keep safely running. So I go to my local Midas. I feel they explain what's wrong with the car well and when, and if, something will need to be repaired. If they think there will be a foreseeable problem they'll give me a written estimate which I can reference in the future. I liked it when I was brought to see a problem under my car, and carefully explained what had happened and what they needed to do. Seeing the problem and having it explained to me, I really appreciated. They have a nice waiting room with free wi-fi. The one bad thing I've experienced is over promising regarding time. If something is to be done by three, then have it done by three or at least call me by 2 and let me know. A little pet peeve of mine. I wish them luck. read more

Michael and his guys are the best auto service techs I've ever had work on my car. Went in for a routine oil change and they noticed some problems with my suspension. When i say problems i mean (major) problems possibly life threatening if anything were to happen with it. It's such a long story I don't even know where to start. I was being very patient and just wanted to get my car fix. I needed my wheel bearings change, they asked me to get the parts myself. So I did from Autozone, after getting them put on from Midas, several of my lights on my dash board was on. Surprised that they even let me drive off with it and not even check why it was on since they weren't on before. Brought it back 2 days later, waited two hours and was told I needed wheel bearings with ABS but was told By Midas to get wheel bearing not wheel bearings with ABS. The wheel bearing I got was made for my car but Midas didn't know until later that my model needed one with ABS( Honda Accord 2015) I was told to get the new one at Autozone but when I went there they don't even carry it,(again how did they not know that) eventually I found out that only Honda carries it. Spent almost $300 for those parts and lost out on $100 for previous parts. Really disappointed that they didn't know all this at the beginning. I honestly did not want to go back, but I figured I would give them a chance to correct their mistakes. It took them about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs to change it versus the 4 hrs originally at the first attempt and when I get my car back it's making funny noises on my front driver side. So I brought it in to have them check it and was told I may be charged a diagnostic fee if it's not related but clearly my car car was not making that noise when I brought it in and at this point I don't even trust them. I went to get the breaks check out to make sure it was not the breaks at another place but it's not the breaks. It's getting louder and louder as if they broke something and something is about to fall out or break apart. So now I will have to pay someone else to look at it and fix it when I have the funds. I spent about $1,000 and hope I don't have to spend another $1,000. So much more things that I can add that happened to make me feel like I can't trust them. I would never go back for that reason. They don't aim to finish their work flawlessly. read more

Very poor customer service. Very poor communication skills. I was told I had a big oil leak and was recommended a dye test. Came back and they couldn't find the leak. I was told keep driving it around and come back again (3rd time now) and still nothing. Then after everything they wanted 130$ to check engine light. One guy quoted me 100$ so they did honor that and put the 30$ dye test towards that. But I still paid 70$ for them to plug in to a machine (should have went to auto zone it's free) to tell me it's my thermostat. They also quoted me 250$ to fix this. Go on yelp and request a free quote and I've had multiple offers already for 120$. They totally rip you off here and not knowledgeable. I am beyond upset I spent so much money there. Word of advice, if you charge 130$ for a full diagnostic that should include a full detailed inspection of your car, not a plug in and code. I will never return to this place, furthermore I will continue to steer anyone from going here a this place was so unprofessional. read more

Took my vehicle to Midas this week. I was greeted by the Manager Mark Kaylor. He was nice and made me feel very welcomed walking into his place of business. I explained I was told I needed a new suspension. They completed a full inspection of my vehicle (at no charge) and it was determined that I did not need a full suspension only needed some parts to be replaced. They did the work on vehicle and it was returned to me the same day. Mark explained that he is the new owner of this Midas location and only believes in charging customers for what needs to be fixed on vehicles and nothing more. The prices are reasonable, the waiting room was clean and everyone was friendly. I would recommend everyone to take their vehicles to this Midas location. My breaks were dragging and I took it in to have it checked out. they told me I needed new calipers. I had them replace the calipers and when I left when I was leaving the parking lot, The brakes were still dragging so I brought it directly back and they told me I needed a new master cylinder. My husband called them and told them that they needed to put the original calipers back on but they just replaced and charged us 500.00 because it wasn't the calipers if it's a master cylinder the manager was mad because my husband called them out or not knowing what they were doing . The manager was unprofessional and was mad and told my husband he was a piece of crap for making me ride my bike to pick my truck up unknowing to him of our situation and should've never told him anything about me riding a bike because I personally like to ride my bike. I would never take any vehicle to the ever again because they don't know what they are doing. I ended up taking my truck to my mechanic and all that needed to be done was cylinder push rod needed to be adjusted and not parts. They are a scam! read more

I went to Midas to get all 3 of the motor mounts fixed on my car, thinking it was going to be really expensive. I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was extremely affordable! I went it for a consultation and the man I spoke with, Herman, was extremely friendly and helpful answering any questions I had very thoroughly. I wish I could give zero stars. Before even going to this Midas location, I made an appointment because I didn't want to be late for work. I have gone here for the last 6 years for my oil changes and brakes. I don't know if they are under new management or what. This time in addition to my oil change I needed another brake check. When I showed up, they ignored me for 15 minutes, and when they finally helped me they said they didn't know about my appointment. I was late for work. I got a call that I did in fact need brakes, but also new rotors, and a tire repair. I wasn't happy with their quote given it was over $1,100, so I told them I would just like the oil change, and tire repair, and that I would pick up my car. My daughter picked up my car because I was at work. Upon arriving home I noticed the car reminder hadn't been reset, and one of my wheels was missing a lug-nut, and now my low tire notification was on, which it wasn't before their tire repair. My husband called and explained, and he was told to bring the car back and they would take care of us. He took my car today to get the lug-nut, reset the notification and get a new tire repair. They claimed to not have any record of my previous visit and that my car was not left how they normally do business. We couldn't locate the paperwork from the visit, and even with the sticker in the windshield showing their address, they couldn't confirm we were ever there at all. This place is a joke! Great service from the crew. I got Herman's assistance today. He is wonderful serviceman. Came in for a basic oil change and they discovered my intake and cabin filter were extremely dirty, literally, filled with bugs and leaves. Although they did not have the filters on site, they ordered them and it was extremely quick. I did not even notice the wait. They did a visual inspection,checked fluids, and rotates the tires, too. This place is a joke. I took my car to get an oil change and the guy tells me i need a cabin filter and he has to order it and it will be there in 15mins. I said ok so after waiting 30mins and watching the whole crew eat pizza i finally go out there to the shop and say where is the filter the man says its on its way. So i says it ok I don't need it I would like to pay my bill. So I pay my bill get in my car and the air conditioner doesn't work.. so I take it to another place on carpenter and they inform me that someone unplugged the unit. Customer service is great the manager is honest dead on, he was eager to help me with every question I asked. Honesty is the key, you don't get that nowadays from some auto shops. Backstory: I purchased fog headlights for my car at an automotive store and being as I couldn't do it myself nor would it be an easy task, I called around and asked if anyone would install it for me.. "Sorry. We don't install aftermarket parts" was the response I received with much disappointment. I called Midas and spoke with Herman, the manager, who told me that I could bring my car over and he can get it done for a small fee as he believes in helping others out. I took my car in the following day and lo and behold he remembered me and offered to have one of his employees (Jacob was his name) assist me with installing a simple bulb. I ended up buying the wrong size but ran down to the automotive shop to purchase the correct size and returned to Midas and was greeted with kind and warm faces who offered their services and installed my fog headlights for me - it ended up being very quick and took all but two minutes. All in all, very friendly guys who work there and they are willing to lend a hand if you need it and I left the place feeling tons of gratitude and felt like they're not just about taking my money to make money, but willing to help a gal out. The fact that they're cool, nice, welcoming people willing to provide services without asking for compensation or much in return, says a lot about their character especially since I had been rudely turned away by other places. My Ladies car needed brakes. These guys are slow, rude and unless you are a tattoo artist don't expect to get it any other way. I told them to put on the cheapest brakes. The guy gives me original quote of $370. As I was walking out the door he, asks me my bottom line price. I told him $250. He says he can do it for $270. He tells me 2 hours. when I go to pick up car 2 hours later it is still on rack. he tells me the parts store brought wrong pads it would be another 20 minutes. This place should only be allowed to do oil changes. This place doesn't honor or guarantee nothing because they find a loop hole or error code that is different from your pervious problem. Paid around $1900 and then in the end was told to take it to the dealership. After they messed the car up and was not drivable I called them to see what my options were so I had to pay another $700 at the dealership and they wouldn't help contribute for the cost so all together it cost me around $2,600 to fix a car that I've only had a year and had only 1 previous owner. read more

Had a coupon for an oil change so I brought my car in, and this was the worst experience I've ever had! Not only did they not honor the services that were listed on the coupon but they also tried to say I had multiple nails in my tires and as he marked them it had appeared to be gravel and instantly feel off. They tried to list a number of things that were wrong with my car, that were not! After I left for some reason now my passenger side airbag no longer turns on when I have a passenger in my car. Now I have to have this Checked! I will never trust these people again! And will NEVER bring my car there again! I recommend no one bring their cars there they will get scammed!!! read more

Horrible place!! Had my Uber inspection done here and they charged me $30!! The technician told me that Uber would reimburse me, and not to worry. Yeah, Midas completely lied. Uber has no intention of reimbursing me. THEN on top of that they found a nail in my tire that they wanted $20 to remove. LES SWAB removed it for FREE.
