I impulsively decided to stop by this Valvoline while driving through for an oil change (a little early because my tire pressure alert came on while I was leaving Idyllwild). I waited about 10 minutes before my car was in the bay and they got to work. I got a full synthetic oil change and tire rotation, along with the recommended engine fluid change. Unlike Jiffy Lube, they have screens right by the driver side and an employee that goes over the recommended dealer service based on what's been reported (and their records but I was a first time customer so I had to fill in some blanks). This really helped from a confidence perspective that what was being recommended was real, and I liked that they told me to ignore one of the dealer ones because "it always shows up and isn't necessary". They also suggested the transmission fluids based on the report, but I showed them I'd had it done about 19k miles earlier (receipt in glovebox ftw!) and they updated their records accordingly. All in all, it was $277 and 31 minutes of my Tuesday morning for the oil, engine fluids, and tire rotation. While it was more than I expected to spend, I was due for it and they gave me a discount on each service that helped. Great service and my car has been running great. Highly recommend!

Since I was on a strict time crunch, I couldn't wait and was instructed by the staff to return on Monday morning to finish the job. When I called Monday morning, no notes had been passed on. After being left on a long hold by an employee named Juan, I had to call back to speak directly with the manager. While I understand mechanics arrive at 9:00 AM, being told to return for a pre-arranged follow-up only to find no preparation or readiness to accommodate a tight schedule is frustrating. To make matters worse, upon arriving at the shop, Juan didn't realize he had just spoken with me on the phone and attempted to charge me another $513 for the brakes--even though I had already paid over $500 for them on Saturday. A mix-up with parts can happen to anyone, but the total lack of internal communication, failure to honor the returning schedule, and the attempt to double-charge for a prepaid service is unacceptable. Update 09/19/2026…read more UPDATE -- September 19, 2026 Well, here we are again. The engine that Frank's Auto Repair installed in my 2011 Hyundai Sonata in March 2025 was BAD. That replacement motor didn't even make it a year and a half before I started having major issues with it. After everything I went through getting the original engine replaced under warranty, the back-and-forth with the warranty company, being told the warranty was initially denied, and ultimately having to pay another $500 out of my own pocket, I expected the replacement engine to actually last. It didn't. I was initially willing to give Frank's Auto Repair the benefit of the doubt, but at this point, I can't ignore it. I trusted this shop to replace my engine correctly. What makes this even more frustrating is that when the first engine failed, there was already a warranty issue and a fight just to get it taken care of. Now the replacement engine failed as well. Two engines. One vehicle. I'm extremely disappointed with the entire experience. I gave Frank's Auto Repair the opportunity to make things right, and unfortunately, it didn't happen. At this point, I can only speak from my own experience -- and my experience with Frank's Auto Repair has been extremely disappointing. Do not go here go somewhere else!
