We brought our truck in for brake service and we were dealing with Dan. They did an inspection and to our surprise, after 95,000 miles in two years, our brakes were still fine. Dan the manager showed us pictures and told us what the specs were and explained everything in detail and our brakes were still in great condition and we didn't need any service yet. Dan was great! He was very knowledgeable and friendly. As we were sitting in the waiting room seeing him interact with other customers, again he was awesome. I used to go to this particular Midas in Hanover Park on Irving Park Road for oil changes and brake brakes. The brakes started squeaking immediately as I drove away, but I thought it was normal that it needed some time to break in or whatever the squeaking I brought it back three times and they could never re-create the sound so they sent me on my way so I dealt with squeaking brakes for eight months which my brakes never squeaked even before I got the brake brakes done. to make a long story I recorded it as I was and then I brought it to them and then they to replace all four brake pads and all four rotors.. but really I had to go in four times total before I finally got it fixed. So then one day I go back in for an oil change they tell me I have a blown head gasket and that it was gonna cost me 8000 to 11,000 to fix.. I took it to Casey's in Streamwood for a second opinion they told me a different diagnosis and fixed it. I called the manager and he referred me to the general manager. I think his name was Chris Chris called me and he said that he is 100% sure that I have a blown head because that is what his technician told him and he stands behind his technician. I wanted my $150 refund for my vehicle being misdiagnosed because in this industry of auto repair trust is everything and I have no trust for this Midas as they just tried to upsell me by needing a repair that I did not need turns out my vehicle needed a repair that cost $1100.. the technician thought because my vehicle is mixing antifreeze and oil that it's automatically the blown head gasket and so did the manager or owner crisp whoever I spoke to because he's again said 100% I specifically asked him are you 100% positive and he said yes that I have a blown head gasket well I don't have a blown head gasket. It only cost me $1100 to fix not $8000-$11,000. I gave them an opportunity to fix it by giving me a refund but they did not take me up on that opportunity instead the owner double down and tried to tell me that I have a blown I guess they are so broke over there at Midas that they're trying to rip off their loyal customers and if they're not trying to do that, why would the owner stand 100% behind his mechanic instead of listening to a real mechanic shop, actually my car was diagnosed by a child from a different mechanic shop. Somebody who looks like he's a teenager the man that diagnosed my vehicle at Midas was an old man. What does that go to tell you the old people don't know nothing about new cars my vehicle is a 2021 by the way it's for a 202 have a blown head since a vehicle never once overheated but yet Midas and the owner who obviously knows nothing about told me 100% certainty that I have a blown head gasket so I'm writing this review because nobody should trust this establishment especially since I pointed out their mistake and they didn't even bother to apologize or didn't even bother to offer me my $150 diagnosis fee that they misdiagnosed my vehicle !!!!! read more

This Midas has horrible customer service. After having my vehicle serviced there twice. The issue still has not been resolved. They charged me $2,000 to tell me the issue is only temporarily fixed and may come back. Guess what? The issue is back after a week of driving. Stay away from this location. My car was warning me that I needed an oil change. I had about 100 miles to go, so I decided to make an appointment online at Midas. I've used them before, and it's less expensive than the dealership. I specifically wanted to come in on a Friday, early in the morning, because we had plans later that afternoon. So I scheduled my appointment for between 8:00-10:00 am. Midas got back to me shortly thereafter. I got a text message stating my appointment was at 8:00 PM. Wait, what??! They're not even OPEN at 8:00 pm. However, shortly thereafter, I got an email confirming my appointment for 8:00 AM. OK, great! I should have called to confirm the time..... I showed up at the Midas store promptly at 8:00 am. I spoke to the guy at the counter. He went to look up my appointment, and big surprise, he couldn't find it. He told me they would try to fit me in, but I would have to wait. OK, but how long? He told me one hour. I am not waiting an hour for a service that I had an appointment for!!! They fixed my 2004 Chevy Impala (I call it my Chevy "Impaler", ha-ha). Fixed front end, included front end alignment, bought 2 new front tires, and did electrical work to fix passengers side back turn siginal (not the bulb, I already tried that). I normally avoid chain service places after a few bad experiences but when my truck's brakes did something that concerned me the Midas on rt. 31 was the closest place that could get me in right away. I had such a good experience there that when my new truck's brakes started becoming concerning (I think I have a gypsy curse) I didn't hesitate to look up the closest Midas (this location). I was really happy to see the same manager, Will, from the other location was also working here. And again, I was very impressed with my experience. They found that the dealer I bought my truck from had never even looked at the brakes and were able to replace the rotors and pads in about an hour. They helped me document the issues so I could get reimbursed by the dealer too (which they did). My experiences in these two Midas stores absolutely changed my opinion on the chain. read more

Do not go here -I have taken my vehicles to this shop on several occasions and found out later that they doubled the cost of parts and increased labor charges. Took my vehicles to another shop (other than Midas) and got the same repairs for about 50% less than what Midas charges and Midas takes advantage of gullible customers. Mike Marik at front desk is dishonest and owner Jon Minski knows that this is going on and allows this to happen and does not care if he loses customers over this. Case in point - get a 2nd opinion at another shop before getting Ripped-Off here - you will save a substantial amount of money and you will be dealing with more honest people. read more

I needed to get asecond Fob key for my car. I had searched for about two years. I found out they can make and activate car keys . I brought mine and they did not haveit. So they order one for me in less thatn a day. Bringing the car to program the Fob, they find out did not have the right code (my car is an import ensambled in USA). they find a dealer who can do it and set appointment and cover the extra charge. So my car was coming to a stop in a pretty reasonable amount of time, but I thought I was having to push on pedal a bit to hard to make it happen. I had just had my brake pads replaced a year prior, so I was pretty sure that shouldn't have been an issue. Midas offers free brake inspection, so I decided to take them up on their offer and make sure there wasn't something more serious wrong with the brakes. I walked in on a Saturday morning and asked if they had time to look at my car. Rich kindly told me he'd be happy to have it in for a look, but had a few cars in front of me so it may be a few hours. I had the time, so I was glad to leave it with them. It was nice that they were able to get it in even without an appointment. I called in about 1 hour before the shop closed, and Mike from the shop was able to give me a detailed update on my car. He gave me the breakdown (brakedown?) on my car and the inspection they had performed in appropriate detail that I could understand (as a non-gearhead). As it turns out, nothing was wrong with my car. 4 stars for sticking to the "free inspection" mantra. I paid $0 for the work they performed on my car. There was no attempt to upsell, no attempt to get me to pay for service I didn't need, no dishonesty whatsoever, and I appreciate that from an auto shop. Minus 1 star for not calling me with a status update after my car was in their hands for 6 hours (I initiated the call). I'm willing to overlook that, though. I'll return for sure, and I'll likely revise this review to a 5 star if the service continues to be great. read more

I usually come here for oil changes... good price, staff is nice and NEVER pushy like the people over at Jiffy Lube. They never try to sell you unnecessary repairs or parts, they are incredibly honest and probably figure people don't want to hear a whole sales speech, they just want to get what needs to be done. Week after i went there for oil change i noticed oil spots in my driveway. I checked the oil and had too much oil in the engine. I went back to Midas and guy in the lobby told me that too much oil is ok, so i left. I talked to people and did online research and it is not ok for more oile to be in the engine. I did not want to drive like that so i drained the oil myself. I had 1qt of oil too much. I sent an email to Midas corporate and i met with the location manager. They told me that they can't fix my car because there are signs of oil leak over time. Problem is that there could be small oil leak around the gasket and stuff, but after their oil change the car was leaking oil all over and it was dripping on the driveway. Before the oil change i had no oil drips on the driveway. They can't even do easy job, don't trust them doing anything else. read more

I love this place! By far the best service I have ever gotten! Being a woman I get everything thrown at me that my vehicle needs. These guys will NOT do that to you. Ex I took my truck to a DEALER and even they told me I needed extra things done! I went to the dealer just to get a service done covered by my warranty, which note the guy at Midas told me to look into. I was charged $825 to replace alternator with serpentine belt and belt tensioner assembly because the car wouldn't 'turn over' when I started the car. After their diagnostics they said it was the alternator but now a month and a half after having the work done I still have this issue at times with the car spuddering when I try to start the car. I brought the car back to midas two weeks after they did the work and they said they couldn't 'reproduce the issue' - but I have three videos on my phone of the car spuddering when I turn over the ignition....I usually like the guys at this midas but to spend $825 and not have the problem fixed is rediculous. read more

Then they never called to let me know my car was done, and had to wait similar to drop off when I came to pick up. And the gentleman who helped me was nice enough but really less than enthused. Highly recommended. As far as I know, this store does not try to upsell unnecessary services and they don't use scare tactics. I've been here several times and have received quality service at reasonable prices. While waiting for repairs, on more than one occasion I overheard conversations such as: Customer: i'm going on a trip and need to fix A, B and C. Midas mechanic: ok got it, and we also noticed that D is a little off so we took care of that for you. No extra charge. Customer: now that's integrity!! Indeed it is. Another observation I made is that the shop is at least moderately busy a lot of the time. This Midas is located in the middle of many auto parts stores and other repair shops. The area is a buyer's market for anything car related. With that, people keep coming into this Midas. From what I could tell, the parking lots for nearby auto shops don't get nearly as full. I've had this shop tell me that other "necessary" replacements/repairs were not needed, or at least not at this time. This when they could have made a quick buck by playing along with what another shop alleged. That honesty got this shop at least one more loyal customer and will make them much more money since I will not take my business anywhere else if at all possible. Long story short, if you're anywhere near Hanover Park, IL go to the Midas on Irving Park Road. I won't claim that Midas-the-company is all-out wonderful. However, the collection of guys currently working at this HP location are competent, trustworthy and deserve your consideration when car issues arise. read more

They are always honest and trustworthy, which for me, is the most important part of vehicle maintenance. I also find their prices to be better than the competitors, often by as much as a hundred dollars or more for more major repairs.
