My car a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe died and we towed it to Midas of Freehold. We mentioned that the check engine light was going on and off. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with my car and it became a GUESSING GAME. After a full week they replaced the starter, battery, and a terminal fuse. We paid $1224. ONE WEEK LATER, the car started experiencing a loud knocking sound and died. We again towed it back to Midas. They informed us we had a bigger problem and it was the engine. They could do nothing. We towed the car to Freehold Hyundai and they confirmed it was an ENGINE FAILURE all along. The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe's were known for that. They replaced the engine free of charge because of a class action lawsuit. We spent $1224 at Midas and DID NOT NEED any of the repairs. Midas merely put a Band Aid on a bigger problem we had which was ENGINE FAILURE. We received NO SATISFACTION. They misdiagnosed my car, exhibited poor judgement, and ACCEPTED NO RESPOSIBILITY. They have refused to give any credit or adjustment to us. We have been dealing with the OWNER/MANAGER BOBBY AYOUBI and DON GARBACKI the OPS MANAGER FOR THE REGION. They are consistent in telling us they will not give any adjustments or credits to our bill stating that they "GOT MY CAR RUNNING." We even told them we would pay for the parts THAT WE DID NOT NEED, essentially half of the bill. Again they REFUSED. Playing replacement part roulette trying to fix the symptoms rather than identifying the real problem with the vehicle is frustrating and costly to the consumer. My daughter went there today because she had a flat tire. She was told all her tires needed to be replaced. She was told each tire was about $200 each. That a cheaper tire was only $25 less per tire. Been passing this shop for years and never really thought to check their oil change pricing. The good news, at least at the time of this review is they are offering full synthetic oil change for $60 which is $40 less than everywhere else. Seems there is a $60 Groupon for this shop and pricing but they'd of course rather you come right in and they will honor the price so their not paying a commission to Groupon. Service was fast and efficient for both my cars, the staff is friendly. I've definitely found my new oil change place. read more

This place sucks. I brought my Toyota Pickup here a few years ago because the gasket from the manifold to the pipe was shot. They replaced the entire exhaust from the cat back. When I asked why they did all that unnecessary work the guy said my exhaust was full of pinholes. I asked to see the old one. No holes. When I pointed that out to him he just shrugged. I find it interesting that some people are grateful that Midas found all these extra issues with their car that they didn't know about. Its called up selling. Car went in for knocking came back two weeks later with a $6k bill and was told here's your car we can't do anything more for you. Car was given back to us with a leak it never had before. Car went back in for a week to fix the leak (part was delayed in shipping). Just went to pick up the truck and there is a serious vibration when driving that was not there when it was dropped off. What was different with this experience was the walkthrough around my vehicle to educate me about the current state of my car. I had my pick up truck serviced for complete exhaust system. I was given an estimate of $620 and was given a $20 coupon although in their website they offer $30 coupon. The manager of this Midas Freehold was aware that the flange connecting the catalytic converter was badly rusted that if I needed to replace the cat converter I will not have the exhaust system replaced. The manager said no need to replace the converter. I paid the 50% deposit and came back the next business day. Midway to the repairs the manager asked for additional $50 for fixing the rusted Flange between the Cat and the pipe of the exhaust system. I refused to pay and the manager held back the coupon . I will call Midas for this un professional franchise manager. read more

Do not recommend. Replaced my exhaust. Then wanted me to buy a new O2 sensor for ~350 (with "no labor") or no. I said no. Called back in 10 minutes and said supplier agreed for ~270. Amazing what a "10 minute call with supplier" can do. I said no again. On top of it, broke my hood release latch and never told me. I went home and noticed the cable was sticking out on the driver's side. On the phone, he said something like "yeah it broke when we opened your hood". It would have been nice to tell me WHEN I WAS THERE in person that Midas broke it. Avoid! read more

Don't go here and expect to get your vehicle back in the same condition you left it in. Went in for an exhaust system on my truck. It was written up as a completely different vehicle and they broke my side view mirror and vent shade. Refused to pay for repairs at a body shop. Said they would make repairs. Used cheap aftermarket mirror that does match other original mirror. And the vent shades are not properly installed and are falling off. They also chipped and blistered the paint around my windows in the process. A matching mirror would have cost only $30 more. And the entire job would Have been under $400 at a licensed body shop. Going to cost much more than that now since a graphic is involved in repairing the paint they damaged. The mirror they installed is useless to me towing my trailer, although Bobby the manager who has never towed a trailer told me it doesn't make a difference. Stay away from this place repairs after you leave will cost more than the repairs you went in for! read more

I had a horrible experience at location in Freehold. My car was promised to be fixed next day, but in fact it took him almost a week to fix. We agreed with the price but the next day the guy called me and told me that I need more repairs and the price would be almost twice that we agreed. I asked him to give me my car back but he said that he already took my wheels off and he cannot give it to me back because he ordered some parts already. I felt that he is not honest with me. He promised to fix my rim for $200, when I told him that new rim cost online the same price he started to tell me bullcrap. So I wanted my car back he started to yell at me. My husband decided to give him a chance because he promised that my car will be ready by the end of the day. And again it wasn't ready. So as I said before it took him almost a week to fix it. A few month later the wheel that he fixed popped and I got to an accident. I had 2 kids in my car. Thank God nobody got hurt. When I came to another shop they found out that some of the parts that Midas promised to replace and I paid for it never been replaced. Please don't go to this place ever. And if you do I hope you won't have the same experience. Just be aware. And if you need just to change your flat tire they probably can do it but if you need something serious please avoid this place. read more

Since my last review I've come to realization that people and places are not all ways what the seem. I spoke with bobby the manager and anti freeze premix from outside vendor was the hidden culprit. I recommend these guys on the fact that never once did they argue back when I was venting. And my next job will be with midas . As for my other issues outside of midas, they are pending. I went to Midas a little under 2 years ago for an oil change. They showed me why I needed new tires and also told me new brake pads were needed. That visits cost me $1200.00. I continued going for oil changes and about 5 months ago my car needed it's axil changed and I paid almost $1000.00 for that visit. Recently my brakes started making noises and since they were changed under 20,000 miles ago I was a little surprised I was having issues. I dropped my car yesterday and got a phone call saying I needed a new caliber and since that one wasn't working it was putting more pressure on my other one and both needed to be replaced. Calibers do not need to be replaced in pairs like other parts in a car. For example rotors, tires, brake pads etc... but not calibers. AJ showed us the calibers and said the one side locked and seized and it was very dangerous. When a caliber locks you can not move the rotor but ironically it was easy to move. The only thing that happens when a caliber locks is something that resembles an emergency brake. Imagine the break on one side completely pressed together while driving and obviously braking, noisy, yes so very dangerous, I don't think so and that being said it puts pressure on the transmission which over time can damage it. I won't write everything that transpired but I can say that a lot that was said was contradicted and a lot of misinformation was given to us. I may be a mom with a mini van and a car seat that could easily be taken advantage of using my car as something dangerous that could harm my children but I am not stupid. Researching, making calls and knowing the right people makes you much more aware of what is going on. I would say get a second opinion when fixing your car with other places you may visit but when you start heading to this Midas don't make a right keep driving because your pocket will be lighter, your head will feel heavier and your car will have more problems when you leave then when you got there. One last thing I was quoted 900 said no got a call today and I was quoted 400. read more

Blown away about how good this place is. This place is my new GOTO for automotive needs. It's soo hard to find a good mechanic and I finally feel as I found one. I'm super skeptical of mechanics (read the backstory below) but these folks earned my trust. They found and fixed things that I've complained about to the dealership for a year, in the first visit for much cheaper than the dealership. My truck operates much smoother now and they've gained a new loyal customer. Backstory. I took my 08' Honda Ridgeline in to get my brakes replaced and oil changed. They were 30-40% cheaper than Freehold Honda dealership. That was already a win. After getting started on the repair (I left and went to my office) they called me and said that the rotors needed to be replaced because turning them would result in a thin rotor and I'd be back sooner than I should need to be. I opted for the replacement. About 1 hour later they call me and tell me that there is something wrong with the brake system and it looks like some incorrect oil is in the master cylinder. I figured out what happened and why (another story for another time) and well, they were right. However, during this time of investigation, I was becoming super skeptical of this repair shop. I felt like I was being nickeled and dimed at this point and I was starting to feel like I might be getting ripped off. After I figured out how the wrong oil got into the master cylinder they were able to confirm that all the seals were rotted and the cylinder needed to be replaced and it would cost an extra $250, however they were able to secure one from a parts warehouse, thankfully. Fast forward 2 more hours. They finish the brake work and call me to let me know that a stabilizer bar bearings and the bar is worn out and I might be hearing a "jittering" or "creaking" when driving. OMG!! YES!! I've been complaining to the dealership about this for a year+ and they could not find anything. The team at this Midas found it through a thorough inspection! They said they could fix it and quoted me. I approved/etc. I finally get my truck later in the day, and while my cost of the brake fix was double (due to the extra work I had performed - new master cylinder, new fluid, a flush, new stabilizer bar, etc) I was happy to leave with a truck that now operates amazingly. It drove much better (thanks to the stabilizer fix) and the brake job was great. Long story short - They know their stuff and they do an honest job. Highly recommend. read more
