My daughter went in looking for an oil change and a sensor in the tire was bad. They continued to sell her three new tires when she went back when the sensor was still on they said oh that sensor is dead. We can't do anything about it very unpleased. Plus there's oil all over the engine when they get the oil changed. They must not have drained it first before moving the filter. read more

Called for a quote on a new tire for my car. Chris was WONDERFUL! gave me all my options and pricing and didn't try to oversell. I made an appt for the following day and I was taken care of exactly at that time. Was in and out within a 1/2 hour. I've been here before and won't hesitate going again when the need arises. read more

I have always enjoyed using the local Mavis. But after having tires installed at Mavis in Whiting. NJ a few months ago on my wife's car I was having the brakes done at the dealership. They showed me and wanted me to sign off on the wheels being damaged inside. They said it looked like it was from the tire mounting process they had been recently damaged. It had been a few months and I couldn't prove it so I let it go. On 9-13-24 I dropped off two trailer wheels with tires to have new tires installed. I picked them up the next day and didn't look inside the wheel. When I went to install them the next day, all gouged up inside in several places and it was brand new damage. The wheels were the first replacement set ever and still I have not moved it. I know they are just trailer wheels but makes me believe that they damaged my car wheels. I contacted Mavis Customer service over a week ago with no reply. They don't seem to care that they are damaging peoples property. EDIT. They will reply. Please call the number and they will make it right. Then you wait for the regional manager to call you and work it out. Which doesn't happen so it just looks like they're dealing with the issue. read more

Was quoted $140 for a full synthetic oil change which is outrageous. Got it elsewhere (with a $20 coupon) for half that amount.

Very happy with the service at Mavis Tire Manchester, NJ today. Not only were they able to fix issue I was having already with tire & TPS, they found several things that were safety issues with my front tires bought somewhere else. Thank you, Anthony & Team for being so honest & upfront with issues but also explaining & showing me what was going on. I feel so much safer knowing I have a place I can trust & depend on. After posting my review about this Mavis Discount Tire facility in Manchester Twp., Mavis Discount Tire corporate office posted a reply, requesting me to contact their customer service department which I did, and upon speaking with the regional manager representative, I was advised to bring my receipts back to the facility for reimbursement for my losses, and he agreed the incidents should not of happened and apologized. I have been fully reimbursed for the parts. read more

Great! Good service and timely! :) Would recommend, got an oil change and it was of good value!

If I could leave a 0 star instead of a one star I would.. I went in for a simple oil changed they ended up strended up stripping the drain plug aint plug never telling me and basically just taking the filter off and replacing the filter. Was this a real oil change? No mark no it wasn't. I would have went to my regular mechanic but I was on the road traveling for work So I stopped here with a mistake. If act at customer service never return my phone calls I would not trust my car with any Mavis dealer it's not the 1st time fool me once.. read more

Such a great shop! I really don't know much about car stuff but Vince at the store was very patient and listened to everything that was going on and immediately figured out what was going on. I swear it was like magic! Will definitely take the time to travel to Whiting for the prices and experience that this shop offers. read more

Thank you to Eugene, Manager at Mavis in Whiting. I appreciated your immediate assistance to my situation.

* 6/28/22 Despite being promised updates I have never heard from the district manager. I have been calling him since 5/17/22 and have all records/ recording from our calls promising a resolution by the end of the week ( every week). This is no way to treat a disabled female customer. read more

Had a flat coming back from a visit to my mom in Toms River and thank goodness for Triple A and that I was close to this tire place and manager Tom who put us in a short line as he knew we were trying to get back to Virginia. He did not try to upsell or tell us 2 tires. A high recommendation read more

I have visited this place for the final time. I ordered tires ahead of time and made an appointment for a Saturday morning. My car didn't even get put on a lift until an hour AFTER my appointment time and then they spent 20 minutes looking for the tires I ordered. Of course they couldn't find them and the front desk told me the ordered showed cancelled in the system. She the promptly offered me different tires for $30/ea more!! I told her to put my car down and I'll take my business elsewhere. She then offered same price but that was too little too late. This isn't the first time they have done something like this otherwise I'd have been more forgiving. I also suspect them of backing my Dodge Charger into something as it had a cracked bumper after I got it back. They said the "security footage" doesn't show anything. Of course not. Don't bother making an appointment because they don't mean anything. I'd recommend going elsewhere that actually values their customers. Stay away from this place!! read more

I can't say enough good things about this shop. They were prompt, efficient and very professional. If I could I would give them 20 stars!! They we're very through and fixed my floor mat as it was in an unsafe position. No other mechanic ever did what they did. read more

Went to Mavis in Whiting today to get an oil change and tire rotation. The man at the counter was visibly annoyed that customers walked in and also complained every time the phone rang. Once he began taking our information, a mechanic from the garage came in to ask a question about a part. We were then left standing there while the man went into the garage to discuss the part, without him even mentioning he needed to take care of the other issue at that moment, just walked away from us. When he returned, no apology for the interruption and then proceeded to do something else on another computer while we stood there waiting. Finally came back to assist us, several minutes later. Apparently, we shouldn't have asked any questions either, because he again was annoyed, became condescending with his responses, and kept reiterating that "this isnt even my store, I'm just filling in" and "will be glad to get back to my own place". Also said he "reads the books, other employees don't". At that point, we decided to not leave our car, and left, very disappointed. As previous business owners, we would never treat customers this way. We have taken our cars there many times and have never had such a bad experience. No matter how long that man has been in the business, he seriously needs customer service training. read more

I really wanted to like this place and gave it many chances but I had several bad experiences here. For the record, I had them replace my power steering rack last year, an issue that was diagnosed by an auto care place when I lived elsewhere. No problems with that service. Now the bad... I brought my vehicle here for a few oil changes- on one occasion they failed to reattach the plate that protects the oil pan. The part basically ripped off when I was driving. While it was not necessarily a safety issue, I found it amazing that they sent away a vehicle without taking the care to put things back in place properly. Last summer, I got new tires. My car is very quiet, and after the tire change I felt a noticeable vibration. After taking it to higher speeds on the parkway, it was clear that the tires were not balanced correctly. I brought it back and this time there was a "higher up" there to oversee the location. This was the most attentive service I ever received here. The tires indeed needed to be balanced, and when the mechanic pulled the car up to the entrance he said something to the effect, "Man, whoever did your tires really messed them up." To which I replied they did. The final straw was a recent visit in which I was getting a "low coolant" notice on my vehicle. I brought it in for them to look at, and they said I had a hole in the water pump and recommended replacing that part along with several others that were connected to it. The repair was over $1000 so I thought I should get a few different opinions. The two other places that inspected the vehicle said Mavis's recommendation was strange- as if they didn't know what was wrong so they randomly selected a bunch of parts to cover everything. Turns out, there is no leak in my water pump/ coolant system at all- this was verified by running extensive tests via the other businesses. So this assessment by this Mavis location is at its best, incompetence, and at its worst, fraud. read more

I have been bringing my car here for oil changes for the last few years. I make an appointment and they always. get me right in. I have also gotten new tires here and feel it was a good price. I haven't had any problems with my car so I thought of what else they might do. Today however my radiator decided to go bad. I got it to them and they looked at right away. They gave me a very competitive price. I know this because I have mechanic's in the family. I am very pleased with Mavis in Whiting. read more

Officially a huge fan of this amazing STS. Had tire major issues in the Wawa across the street - and thought I'd have to call a two truck and be stuck there all night. The team there very kindly came across the street, diagnosed the issue, used a jack to take off my wheel and take it back to the shop to fix - and put it back on my car. All of this after closing time. Again, an amazing place - they were honest, kind, and incredibly helpful to someone in need. read more

Mavis Discount Tire - Flat tire... - Tires Near Me - Whiting, New Jersey

I would not recommend going to this store. Every time I go to this store there seems to be an issue. Today I brought in 2 loose wheels and tires to be mounted and balanced. After an hour of waiting they begin to tell me that they are not able to dismount my old tires. They start to tell me invalid excuses as to why my wheels and tires can not be done. Being an a mechanic for almost 15 years and hearing the excuses that they tell me has rubbed me the wrong way and I would never recommend this chain to anyone read more

Huge fan here! I would ask for a tshirt and wear it everyday if they have, very friendly environment and best part and very important, it doesn't feel like they want to get your money. I live in jackson and I don't mind the 30 minutes drive just because of their customer service, location is amazing as well, next to a dunkin donuts, wawa, wendys, I mean come on!!! STS Tire has been taken over by a new company and they have eliminated their STS Silver Club which offers a 5% discount to senior citizens. As always when a company is taken over things go down hill for customers, especially seniors. The new company just wants to make money. Over the past few years I've had several brake jobs by STS and today I was charged for a new service, $79 for a brake system flush. I watched as they worked on my car and they never drained, filled and bled my brake system. Now they're charging for services they don't do. Stay away. Go to Mr. Tire, Firestone or Sears. read more

The place was very friendly, especially the guy working behind the register. However I feel they are a bit unorganized. When I asked when an oil for Diesel engine would be in stock, they did not know. Also, not that I mind, but the way a guy behaved that was a mechanic may turn people off. Complaining about how he didn't wanna push a car in and so on. May turn people off don't think it's the best image to give.. I think their time management skills could be improved as well as the whole flow of information from the desk to customers. read more

Everytime I come in for an oil change everyone is very respectful and pleasant. The wait is never long.

I got screwed by these guys. I was visiting relatives and dropped off a vehicle for repair. They installed a replacement part, which then turned out to be defective. When I later returned for a replacement, the needed part was out of stock. They offered to have me return again, or give me a refund, since I was not local. I accepted the offer for a refund. However, they never refunded my credit card, despite telling me twice (once in person and once again later by phone) that a refund was being made. When I then filed a dispute with the credit card company, Mavis lied to the credit card company by stating that they had ordered a new part for me but I never returned to accept it. They clearly knew this was a total lie. However, by the time I realized that Mavis was not going to issue me the previously offered refund, I had already had a local shop nearer to my home fix the problem. Please be aware that this company will screw you if they need to, rather than do the right and honest thing if you later have a problem. After all the good reviews I saw on-line for this company, I was very shocked at the dishonest manner in which they handled my problem. You have been warned, buyer beware! read more

I brought my car in for brakes and an oil change. They called to let me know I needed more tires and proceeded to give me a quote for about $150 / tire for a Chevy Cruze. The name of the place is DISCOUNT tire and they're attempting to charge me for the highest price tire for a Cruze? Only after I declined his ridiculous quote did he tell me there were other options. I'm not here for you to rip off. Even worse, this is located in an area with a lot of senior citizens, which means there are plenty of people for them to take advantage of and rip off. After declining that ridiculous offer, he quoted $393 for my car. I honestly still felt that was high, but thought the work that needed to be done was pressing enough that it warranted a little extra cost. When I went to pick up the car, they told me it was $479. When I inquired as to why it was $80 over my quote, I was informed my quote didn't include my oil change or tax. Since when isn't the quote all inclusive? The work I needed done was an oil change and brakes, why not give me that quote? They're absolutely deplorable with their business practices and I'm disgusted by the amount of money they ripped me off for. I never had a problem with STS in the 20 years I've been driving, so I trusted whoever took them over. They are thieves and anyone who works there pushing their rip off agenda should be ashamed of themselves. read more
