Always polite, communicative and respond extremely quickly to any issues. Very fair in terms of pricing, much better value than other places near by. They do not pressure you to have work done that you don't need done. They will service what you need, as you need it. Whereas many places will bully you into spending excessive amounts of money on service that can wait for months or a year in the future. Can go for oil changes, brakes, anything really. read more

Was first recommended to me by a co worker so contacted them for what I'd call a special circumstance job on a vintage vehicle I needed cosmetic work done on.Over all that work went well but took too long as my vehicle was tied up for over two weeks since it involved an unnamed body shop. Later on I mentioned a mechanical issue I was experiencing but nothing was said when I went to pick up the completed vehicle for the original work.It was already parked on the street waiting to be picked up.I paid cash for the work performed by then asked if they had a chance to look as the mechanical issue I inquired about.At that point one of the owners came out and said my vehicle was unsafe due to ball joint issues and out of the blue said the engine had a bad rod.Had I not asked I just would have left and drove off.I questioned their claim as I experienced none of what they said was wrong when I drove it.I felt their attitude was a bit combative when questioning their claim.I ended up leaving with the vehicle having no issue with the one hour drive home.With that said I'm having a local mechanic give me a second opinion. read more

Great auto mechanics! Fast and experienced. Dropped it off and had my diagnostics in 20 minutes! Done the same day! Highly recommend Pat! We just bought a used pickup. We are driving it to Canada and needed to know it was up to the trip. Friends all recommended Pat at Bennett's garage. I called them late yesterday and had the truck there first thing. (We leave in 2 days!) He ran it through its paces and the computer. Called with his findings and promised to have it all done today. Couldn't be nicer or more professional. Prices were very fair. Have no idea how anyone could honestly leave negative reviews! I would ignore them. read more

DO NOT ALLOW YOUR LOVED ONES TO BRING THEIR CAR HERE, EVEN FOR AN ESTIMATE. Owner takes advantage of the very old and young adults and rips them off. Went in for an estimate on a repair and owner wanted $250 for the repair. We had previously received two other estimates for approx. $50 each so we declined the work because of the high estimate. Owner refused to give the key back unless he was paid $95 for the estimate. Do not bring your car here unless you want to be ripped off. read more

I have been entrusting my truck repairs with Bennett for about a year now. They were originally recommended by a friend. I have always found them to be pleasant, and easy to deal with. I usually get tires rotated / oil changes, basic maintenance stuff, and they completed a brake job on my truck too.. I find the prices to be reasonable. TOTAL RIP-OFF. !!! Beware. I had my car at Franks Auto for 2 weeks trying to figure out why the engine would not run. After slot of trial and error John found the engine had an internal problem and seized. Fortunately I had a warranty that covered this issue but Frank's Auto did not want to tie up a bay for a week or more with my job (understandable). So he asked if it would be OK to send it over the Bennett's Garage. I said I trusted his judgement and that would be fine. So after the field inspector came out from the warranty company yesterday. We got approval to move forward. I received a call today that I needed to pay several thousand dollars up front for the new motor. I checked with the warranty company and they said they've never heard of a repair shop doing that. So I called and spoke to Pat the owner, he said that's his policy and there's nothing we could do. So I said well I'm going to take it to the dealer, they work directly with the warranty company and the only thing g I had to pay was the deductible of $250. So I said I would have the car towed to the dealer. I then got a call from the woman who works in the shop saying I had to pay a "diagnostic" fee of $479.10. Now the engine seizure was already diagnosed by John at Franks Auto. So I said I will not pay that. They responded that it's $35 storage fee. This place is not the place to bring your car. Judging by all the bad reviews I'm surprised they are still in business. Needles to say I will make it a point to post my experience in as many places that local residents can see it and save themselves some aggravation. In addition I will be filing a formal complaint with the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. read more

I'm writing this review still in near disbelief that the experience I had at this shop even occurred. I recently purchased a new vehicle and I was directed to this unfortunate place to get my carco inspection completed in order to get collision coverage from the insurance company(Esurance). I arrived to be greeted by a less than friendly woman at the front desk, whom said "we can't do that today" and I went on to ask the reason why. She shortly stated "it's raining and they only have 1 camera and aren't risking getting it wet." I then stated that this was the only day of the week I could get off work to complete the inspection. She said "well good luck finding another place". As I was exiting the door, I hear the lady yell "NOT MY FUCKING PROBLEM HUN!" So naturally being a human being I decided to stand up for myself and asked to see the manager. An equally unfriendly and unkempt man comes out to tell me "you should just leave" after I told him what his employee said to me... As she watched from the garage door holding up her middle finger, a grown adult mind you. I am beyond disgusted with this garage. What should have been a simple 10 minute process was a screaming and cursing match. I went to L&N Sunoco, also located on rt 71 in spring lake, which was fast, friendly, and pain free. Beware. Unscrupulous business practices.Price gouging. Brought car for an estimate to 3 local auto repair. The first 2 used a diagnostic tool and five minutes later while I was waiting they were able to give me an estimate. When I went to Bennett's (after having been to two prior shops) I was told to leave the car and come back in an hour. Upon returning I was given a quote 3X more than the other shops. I thanked them and said the price was too high. The manager told me it would cost $95 for the estimate. I was NEVER told I would be charged for an estimate nor did I anticipate a charge, as the other local shops gave a fair estimate in five minutes. The owner was rude, unprofessional, and told me to "shut up " when I asked for my key. I only wish I had read the reviews prior to contemplating using Bennett's Garage in Spring Lake Heights. read more

Taking my car to a mechanic used to involve a good deal of anxiety and concern about the integrity of the garage and the price of repairs. That was before I found Bennett's garage! You walk in and are greeted by a friendly person, Carol, who facilitates your car's entrance for service. Very quickly you receive a call telling you the results of the diagnostics and quoting a price. Within short order your car is ready to drive away. These people are knowledgeable, efficient, expert and speedy. I highly recommend this very professional garage. read more

Expensive and incredibly dishonest. This is the first time I've ever took the time write out a negative review. I am not doing so to get my pound of flesh,I am doing it as a public service. I brought my truck there to get the exhaust manifold studs replaced (some were broken causing an exhaust leak) They said the manifolds may be warped and suggested replacing them. I said the truck has alot of miles,If they are not warped just replace the studs.,but if they need to be replaced ,replace them. 1900$ later I go to pick the truck up and it still has a leak. The owner comes out saying of coarse it does,the manifold is warped. I said"then why did you put it back on?" he said "you told me not to" 'I didn't say that,I said replace if it needs it" He agreed and told me he would replace the manifold for the "cost of the part only,no labor" They priced it out and called me an said it would be 580$. I asked if that was just the part or parts and labor. They said just the cost of the part. I called RAM to price the part,it was 230$ (aftermarket was 90$) I called back asking why they were charging me so much and not standing behind their work? After a 5 minute argument they said 385$ I said I would take them to court if they didn't stand behind the 1900$ of work. She put me on hold,came back and said "you get the part,bring it here and he will install it. I dropped off the truck when they told me and got a call from the owner saying the part I brought them needed to be "drilled out because the hole didn't line up" and would require 2 hours of labor (220$) another argument . It takes less than a minute to drill out the hole and that was the right part for that truck wouldn't need to be drilled. He said it's 220$ if you want it fixed. I agreed so I could get my truck back. When I got there to pick it up,it was parked across the street. I looked in and the keys were in it so I climbed in and drove it home. They called just before closing time in a nervous voice asked "did you pick the truck up?" I said yes. And he hung up. Again this is not for revenge. It's to help others not go through what I had to. My car recently broke down. Had it towed to Bennett's. Asked how much it would cost and I was told it would be 780 including the tow. The next morning I got a phone call saying that my car was done. When I went to get my car I was presented with a bill for 984 dollars and some nonsense about a half hour diagnostic time and a 2 dollar fuse. Bit my tongue and paid the bill. My recommendation regarding Bennet's is to STAY AWAY. Stay far far away from this garage. read more

I have been meaning to post this review for over a year now. Do not take your car here unless you want to be ripped off. I brought my old car here for an estimate for the AC.I made it clear that if it was going to be costly I wasn't going to bother repairing it since the car was on its way out. They told me the system just needed to be charged and they billed me $125. About a week after I got my vehicle back the AC started blowing hot air. I brought the car back and they admitted that they had misdiagnosed the problem. It turned out that I needed a compressor which was $750. The owner refused to refund me or even credit the $125 towards a future repair. I found them to be very arrogant, unprofessional, incompetent and unethical. read more

After going through several shops to determine why my check engine light was on my 96 Explorer and constantly getting different answers, some very very expensive, to that part is longer being manufactured, took it to Bennetts, it was fixed for a reasonable price, and never came back on again. read more

It was amazing, seriously. This is what happened ... the engine light came on in my wife's 2011 Mini Cooper. We took it to Bennett's and they found a couple of things, most importantly the pressure in the fuel pump was intermittently low. Mini Cooper's fuel pumps are expensive so Bennett's checked online - coincidently the six year old fuel pump apparently had problems so Mini extended the warranty on the fuel pumps only. Barrett's called our dealership and double checked the Mini Vin # to make sure my wife's exact car was covered. Bennett's (Carol) said we could get the pump fixed under warranty at dealership and the dealership was expecting us. We were totally expecting Bennett's to do an expensive, but necessary repair, but they gave that up so we could get warranty coverage. What Bennett's did fix was fixed perfectly. Although it's a little thing, while we were paying for the work, Bennett's started the car to warm it up for my wife. Carol and Pat (son) could not have been nicer. Prices were fair, especially since it could have been 3X as much and we would have still been happy. Anyone who's lived in the area says Bennett's is totally honest and have taken care of generations of their family's cars. To top it off, their shop is spotless ... amazing to see automotive work bays so clean. Total pride in their work. Top notch in every respect. read more
