If you read many of the reviews, you find the word "honest". This is hard to come by with many repair shops and dealerships, who are trying to sell or upsell you on repairs. At Manasquan Auto they spent time with me explaining the issue and options, they even went as far to tell me which cars they repairs the least and are the most reliable, as I was leaning towards getting a new car rather than spending lots of money to repair a 10 year old car. Brought car in for oil change and tire rotation. These items were well taken care on a timely basis while I waited. Also, performed a thorough inspection which revealed a leaking seal on an axle. Manasquan Auto Diagnostic does phenomenal, honest work. I was referred to them after going to the dealership, paying for diagnostic test, and being given partial information that seemed off. Manasquan Auto Diagnostic did their own checks and likewise disputed what the dealership advised! Background: My check engine light had been on; so, last month I dropped my car off at the dealership for a diagnostic test. I paid for the test the same day it was performed but did not get the full report until 10 days later. In fact, I had to email the service manager who finally sent it with a belated apology. Unbelievable! The difference: When I called MAD and spoke with Courtney she immediately disputed the code that the dealership cited had anything to do with the check engine light. Knowledgeable! I dropped my car off. The same day I received a full report with pictures and links to video proving what they found! Professional! They fixed the faulty part, and my check engine light issue is now resolved. I am so grateful for Manasquan Auto Diagnostic and recommend them without reservation! read more

Manasquan Auto Diagnostics are hands down the best mechanics I have ever used. The office staff is incredibly courteous, professional and extremely knowledgeable. It's essentially like talking directly to a mechanic every time you call in and they always take as much time as is needed to talk through the process and options. The experience you normally get calling a mechanic, where you feel rushed and like they don't have time to answer questions in a thorough or detailed manner, simply does not happen here. Rather, it is essentially like talking to a therapist about your automobile. The mechanics themselves are highly skilled and very interested in finding creative solutions to fix your car. During most of my appointments I have been presented with multiple options to sort out my issues and have, on several occasions, received recommendations from them to go with the lower priced option. Quite a rare experience to have a mechanic talk you into spending less money with them. After disastrous episodes at the car dealership I came here. Shawn, Courtney and Ryan keep me informed every step of they way. If something is broken I get a quote by text and pictures with the cost. After I confirm, they fix it. If I decide I need to hold off, they give me the pros and cons. There is no pressure. There are two things that are most important: they fix it right the first time and they go the extra mile to get the right part that will last. Sean, his kids and team worked with me every step of the process of getting my '94 Land Cruiser back to daily driving condition after it had sat still for over five years. They worked a small miracle repairing the rusted and frozen brake calipers and replacing the leaky brake lines, all within my tight deadline, during an incredibly busy time where they had more 30% cars in queue than they had spaces to park them in. Their online system of interacting with clients is great, and complete with detailed photos with mechanics' comments, and allowed us to find workarounds that fit both my budget and tight timeframe. Just having the detailed record of the full top to bottom inspection with photos of everything including what areas needed immediate attention and those of concern but could wait, is worth half the price. They know their stuff and the business is well run in what's clearly a customer forward manner. Highly recommend. read more

Manasquan Auto Diagnostics is the bar for which every other Auto Diagnostic/Repair shop should be measured; they are honest, highly skilled and above all they understand what service excellence all is about. The Owner/Operator, Sean, is as much hands on as any of his staff and he treats everyone with equal dignity and respect. I know this having sat in the shop and could see and hear the interaction he had with other customers, in person or on the phone, as if every customer were a family member. Their prices are more than reasonable, their diagnostics and repair are spot on and their time management is stellar, especially in an industry as finicky as this where everything is connected to everything else. As for the finer detail, I brought in my 2009 Venza to Manasquan Auto Diagnostics for a recent noise coming from the front end of the car that was starting to get a little more pronounced. Sean took the wheel and we went out for a drive where he immediately diagnosed it as the front left wheel bearing starting to go. We returned to the shop where Sean educated me on wheel bearing operation and repair. While on the lift he had the other bearings checked and made sure the one in question was not loose where it could cause further damage. Upon my appointment date I was given a loaner and by the time I got home I had received a text invite on my phone from Manasquan Auto Diagnostics for progress updates. Nice touch. Sean also noticed my oil change sticker was overdue and I told him I had just had an oil change in Florida where I live but they had forgotten to update the sticker with the milage and due date. Sean put on a new updated sticker to remind me. I also checked out their website where they have a client login for setting up appointments, etc as well as a video library of typical preventive care and educational clips. Awesome. My car is once again silent, with money left in my pocket. Now, If only I can get them to move their operation to FL. read more

I took my car here at 7am on A Friday morning. Sean asked me what was going on with my car and even hopped in so I could drive him around to show him. They took the car promptly and gave me a loaner for the day! When they finished the diagnostic test and estimates, I received a long list of problems with a high price tag. When I showed up in person, however, Sean was honest in telling me what I didn't need to fix, what I may need to fix in the next 5,000 miles, and what he recommended I fix sooner. He even told me how to do something on my own to save money. For the one problem I was concerned about and I want to get fixed, I called my friend who is a mechanic and he confirmed that their price was fair. I'm personally not a fan of salesmen who overly push a product. If a product is good, it'll sell itself. Sean didn't push anything, but he sold me on his integrity, thorough explanations, and fair prices so I'll be using him for my repair. read more

The owner means well but his technicians are absolutely incompetent. I had my car serviced to them less than 5,000 miles ago, which includes an oil change as well as an inspections of my brakes and other parts. My left rear brake is now grinding against the rotor. They should have caught that the brake pad was thin before it happened! And if you call them out on their mistakes, they ban you. Waste of money and time. read more

You also have the pleasure of working with a staff that takes pride in their work and are pleasant to work with on any and all issues. What a concept! Every time I visit I feel like I get an education in mechanics because owner Sean Kennedy explains it all. You NEVER visit Manasquan Auto Diagnostics without a detailed explanation on what needs to be done, why it was done and any alternatives. They even go under the car and take pictures to provide a visual reference of issues. This place is the BEST! I have complete trust in Sean and Manasquan Auto Diagnostics.. so much so that I drive over an hour from my house in Pennsylvania to have my car serviced by this team. I have absolutely no complaints, and plenty to compliment them on. Before going here, I was happy with the dealership that I had trusted since I bought my car, new, in 2009. My hold button (light) came on, so I brought it to my dealership. They gave me a $1300.00 quote and a list of repairs that they recommended. This didn't feel right to me so I went to Manasquan to get a second opinion. Not only did Sean explain to me, in layman's terms, what was happening with my car (and why/how it was happening), but this was only a $200 job!! Furthermore, Sean recommended that I got the new part from my dealership, as only a makers model will fit perfectly. An honest businessman misses the opportunity to make a dollar, for the best interest of his customers. Sean also did a once-over on my car and I got a few other repairs. He is extremely knowledgeable and I love that I can see the technicians working on my car while I wait. My car is running like it's brand new. As I was getting leaving I said to Sean that his customers seem so comfortable and happy when they walk in and out of the shop. I complimented him and his team for knowing their customer's names and said that while I sat there watching people walk in and out that morning (sipping on a free chai latte) it seemed like the customer were actually his friends. Like finding a great doctor or veterinarian, finding a super mechanic who clearly and honestly explains what's wrong, fixes the problem the first time, and charges very reasonable rates is a rare thing. And that's what Manasquan Diagnostics does! I have a 2003 Lexus with 210,000 miles and the way they service it, it's gonna go another 200,000. I bought the car new and from day one the dealer's main objective was to make sure every service visit was as expensive as possible. No dealer will ever see me again, and though it's a 25-30 minute ride to Manasquan, it's well worth it. These guys are the best. read more

In a rare surprise, an honest auto shop. I've had a car forever that I just use to drive back and forth from the city to the beach. Over the years I've had a couple things repaired here and all turned out very well and for a fair price. They explain things in plain English and don't try to take advantage of you. I just got new shocks put in and Sean took it for a car wash just to be nice and give it back to me in sparkling condition. To make a long story short, the car is old, the car wash got water inside the hood, major components needed to be replaced, and they were upfront about what happened and repaired everything right away. read more
