Our teen son purchased a unique an old Mercedes-Benz l, he's a teen he didn't think to talk to his parents first about purchasing something older than he is! lol Needless to say it wouldn't even have passed inspection because the engine light was on and it had other issues. Lou doesn't even really repair Benz but was so sweet and offered to do diagnostics for us and give us a price to get it on the road, safely, so our son could enjoy showing off its unique color - because honestly that was all he was really concerned with. Having the most knowledgeable mechanic, Lou, makes this a must go-to repair shop even with their small, crowded parking lot. Finally an auto repair shop with a mechanic who really knows it all! Plus he comes out and meets you when you drop off your car, not hiding in the garage. He'll tell you exactly what's wrong right on the spot. Every time. Never met anyone like him. Normally they have to work at your car and call you back maybe three or four hours later and even then they're not 100% sure if what they are doing is the right thing. And neither are you! Well not here! Here you know your car's problem will be addressed correctly. And the prices are fair if not lower than most. I stopped here the other day when my car wasn't running properly and he fixed it right on the spot and I was on my way! He usually will take a look at your car when you bring it there. Their location is a little challenging however. They are on route 9 which is good, but you can only get into their lot going on route 9 south. Also their parking lot is small and it is normally hard to find an actual parking spot. But I have to overlook these drawbacks because this is the auto repair shop with the mechanic who can always fix your car right with the most friendly service. Switched auto policy and needed a Carco inspection within 10 days as required by law. After calling several times without successfully setting up an appointment, I finally got Lou on the phone. He was nasty, rude and did not even attempt to listen to my questions or concerns. Reported him to my new insurance carrier as being uncooperative. Why would a shop agree to participate in these inspections when they make it virtually impossible to get one done?!?! "Lou" did a fine job resolving an intermittent, faint hum happening from somewhere on my daughter's rouge. It was extremely difficult to hear, and was driving her crazy especially when no one else could hear it. So l suggested that she should give Lou's a try (since I had a very positive experience there about two months prior, during my initial visit, when a mechanic named "Don" stopped what he was doing, put my car on the lift and fixed my problem in five minutes). I was literally flabbergasted at the humanity that I just witnessed. So I can tell you that "Lou" applied himself in the same professional way, (while riding in the back seat and my daughter driving, with Lou in the front). He heard the faint hum with my daughter and stated what he thought could be causing it and what he thought could possibly fix it as well. The next business day she left her rouge with Lou and it all turned out like he said it would. After we arrived to pick up my daughter's vehicle, Lou explained everything to us in a very accommodating, professional way and at a very reasonable cost. my car is 2002 Subaru, 21 years old, it needed a engine rebuilding, new radiator, heater and some other minor repairs. Lou gave me a great price and the work was perfect. That was over a year ago. I want to give a shout out to Lou's Auto Body corner of Schanck Rd and Rt. 9S. My grandson's 2013 Hyundai elantra was bought last year from a private seller. It had only 23000 miles. The engine service light came on earlier this year. I took it to the local Hyundai dealership and they wanted $3200 to fix but said it was ok to drive. When I took it to the NJ inspection center last week for a new sticker, it failed because of the engine service light coming on. I took the car to Lou's and he fixed the problem $1500. It was a major job. The car runs perfect and I got a new inspection sticker. Anyone that needs a simple oil change or major engine work , highly recommend Lou's. read more

I had a car repaired twice.both times reasonable, and fair,and lou is very professional and friendly. I thought for sure I found a level repair shop that I can take my repairs that I don't have the time and resources to do if I didn't work so much as many of us do.took my pickup middle of last summer for coolant system flush and was told by one of his workers that my radiator was leaking where the cap was undone and spill over was the leak,and radiator was already ordered and on the way before notice. I said wait! I'll be right down. after inspecting it and arguing over the fact that it wasn't leaking when I drove it there bone dry I refused the work drove off and I just traded that same truck in for a newer one with the same radiator I drove in with last year.im not a pretty you girl or a 50 plus year old married business man, I'm just someone who was very happy the first two repairs ,and was suddenly disappointed on how dumb they took me for being. read more

Brought my car in night before appointment and dropped off to get looked at the next morning so they can give me a quote on what was wrong with my exhaust. The next day it was 530pm and still didn't get a call from them and they close at 6! Called and was told they didn't even have a chance to look at it!!!! Wasted my whole day down a car for them to not even look at it in my daughters first bday when I had a lot of other stuff I needed to do. Finally the next morning I received a call saying it would cost 750 to fix my exhaust! Went to meineke and got it done for $200! What a waste of my time and rip off this place is! read more

my inlaws have been taking their 4 cars to lou for a few years now.i am a mechanic myself and a new addition to this family and know my way around cars. recently my sis inlaw car was making a noise i drove it around found out it was from the transmission and told my father inlaw it HAD to go to nissan. he didnt take me serious. he took it to lou. lou checked it out and told him the same but he took it one step further he called nissan and found out the transmission was under wrnty for him. also he did not charge them for doing to leg work on finding the wrnty but he also did not charge him for checking the car out. coming from customer service myself i know how important it is for the good new to come out because people are always saying negative and not enough positive. so Lou good job. read more

I recently moved to the area, so when I needed some work on my car I was careful selecting a mechanic because you never know if someone might try to rip you off. After reading a number of positive reviews on yelp, I figured Lou's was a safe bet. They were awesome. First, I called them today and they were able to take my car right away. I dropped it off and they were finished within a few hours. It was only a minor fix regarding the windshield wiper line, but they did the work quickly. They also checked on my engine light and tire pressure light but determined everything was ok. Unlike some mechanics, they didn't try to nickel-and-dime me and try to sell me on some service I didn't need. They only charged me $27. Best of all, they were very professional and friendly...I took an Uber back, and they even offered to pick me up next time to save me money! They certainly made a repeat customer out of me, and I can confidently say I've found my car mechanic in town. If you live around Freehold, you'd be wise to make them yours, too. read more

have had lou service my 2 trucks and one car. Lou is a nice guy but for most of the work the performed on my vehicles was shoddy at best. I had to bring the vehicles back because the problems were not corrected. This was not an isolated incident. Lou says he stands behind his work and says simply bring it back. A quality mechanic should do it right the first time. I understand that parts can fail and that is not the fault of the shop. But my experiences are from poor workmanship. I had to bring one truck back 4 times for a transmission seal and after 4 tries it still leaks. Front brakes were replaced and lasted only 12k miles because they never checked or adjusted the rear brakes. They replaced rear brakes, drums, wheel cylinder and brake lines.One month later the brakes failed because the adjusters came off. I had to do those brakes over at my own expense.
