Came to have a specific problem resolved ("prominent noise in front end") was told it was a strut mount that was causing my issue so I agreed to the repair & I received a call from the mechanic assuring me the noise was gone! When I picked the car up the same issue was there! I've been a customer for years! But after being told the only recourse for this error was to take the new part off and replace it with my original part & give me the money back! With an snarky attitude too! Came in yesterday for a oil change all I want ed.They did the oil change call me into the shop saying that I should do all these repairs .I only agreed on the filter to be replaced asked the guy how much it cost he said $30 I agreed with him to do it.My car was in the shop for 30 minute.For the oil change and just the filter costed me $200 I am a 18 year kid didn't think a oil change would cost me that much.my car is a old sonata. I found a place for half the price and they offered to come down from 1100 to 650.00. total over charging and scam. I came to get my car and they had taken apart and said work would be done. I through a fit and they said come get you can in the mornin. when I got there and nothing was done to the car they charged me for taking the car apart after I specifically said please done to anything till we talk. There rude and many people told me I am not the first person who's car they took apart and then offered a discounted price to try to keep the work. Pure trash. Let me start by saying I called this place before posting this review in hopes of settling it as is often suggested, but to no avail. I have included photos of the damage, including the cross-threaded lug nut (before it snapped). Last year, I brought my Jeep into Mavis to be checked out, and it was suggested that I replace the pads, rotors, lug nuts, shocks, etc. I opted not to, as I thought the price was too high. When they put the tires back on, I discovered they had stripped 1 driver-side rear lug nut. I was only aware of the driver-side issue until the other day, when I brought it into the Jeep dealership to finally have it fixed at the personal expense of $400 (I did not trust Mavis to fix it). It was then discovered that there was additional damage caused by Mavis: 1 passenger side rear lug-nut was also stripped, and another lug nut on the passenger rear was cross-threaded only half way on, a glaring mistake for any automotive professional. So I call Mavis, as directed, and I get Cody, the manager. I explain my dilemma, and we agree to have the vehicle looked at tomorrow morning. I thank him for being helpful, and am so happy the conversation went well. I then received a call from Cody four minutes later, explaining how they recommended lug nuts at that time of service, and therefore would not be responsible for their own stripping and cross-threading of the lug nuts. I then asked if it was common practice for them to only install lug nuts halfway on, creating an immense safety hazard, to which Cody said yes. When I realized it was no longer helpful to speak with someone who can make that statement, I told him I would have to pursue this elsewhere, to which Cody signed off "Good Luck". So remember that next time you risk getting your vehicle fixed here, straight from the manager's mouth, "Good Luck". read more

I had such a great experience with Mavis. I had a nail in my tire and they tried to fix it but it was too damaged. They were unable to order the tire for some reason (at least unable to order it quickly) and recommended I go with the dealership. They put my spare on, smiled and sent me on my way without charging me. We were able to get the tire from the dealer but they were a pain about putting it in the car. I immediately called Mavis and they were willing to get me in right away if I brought the tire over. They are reasonably priced, quick and most importantly a joy to work with. I'm leary of having anyone touch my cars but front end alignments are one of those things you simply can't do in your driveway. I put a new steering rack in my son's truck and knew it would need an Alignment. This Mavis is pretty close to my house so once the rack was in I took it right over. I made the appointment right online and they called me the day of to verify and let me know they had other openings during the day if it was more convenient. They took the truck in relatively quickly and went right to work on it. You really don't appreciate a good alignment until you don't have one. Driving over was sketchy and I was afraid they'd do an iffy job or the steering wheel would be crooked. That wasn't the case at all. It's dead on and the wheel is perfectly straight. I was impressed because it was way off when I brought it in. Of you need an alignment, bring it in. It'll set you back $100 but it's worth every penny. read more

To add insult to injury they have the employee I complained about call me and then another employee Drew Miller harass me on the phone- claiming "You're lying. "What kind of corporation releases your personal information to the people you complain about? I strongly recommend ordering your tires online, prior to visiting this location. I ordered my tire online, and stopped by the location to have them install it, the tire was delivered to the location. What I liked: The Price. What I did not like: 1. This location smells, and when I say smells, I mean that I believe this location needs better ventilation, inhaling the smell of rubber, can not be healthy. 2. The location is not well insulated to sound. As a result, while waiting in the waiting room, all you can hear is the pneumatic​ wrenches, again not healthy for your hearing. 3. The staff seems​ to cross-sell like crazy, and I saw 3 examples of this, prior to the manager informing me that another one of my tires needed to be replaced due to uneven tire wear​. He asked if I wanted to see, fortunately the car was still up on the rack, when we walked out. He spun the tire around, and nothing... I believe this business​ prey​s on peoples lack of automotive education. Fortunately for me, my father was a taxi driver, and made sure I knew a thing or two about vehicles prior to driving. Prior to shopping here, make sure to do your research on what you need, and expect to be up-sold or cross-sold. I brought the older of our cars into Mavis, located on Route 9 in Freehold, NJ - just north of Rte. 33. There was a problem with the belt. All the manager had to do was say "that belt is gone", and I would have bought a new one on the spot. Instead, he said it might just need a little lube - which he glopped on the belt, and which fixed the problem. No charge. I had a similarly excellent experience at this location when I needed a brake job. Work done fast and efficiently, a fair price, and no attempt to sell me extraneous service I did not need. You don't find folks like that very often these days. Especially from chain outlets, where you are far more likely to be up-sold than treated the way I was. So my thanks to the manager of this Mavis location (I don't even know his name, otherwise I would mention it), and my assurance that this location will continue to get my business...and, of course, my recommendation to others as well. read more

I am an extremely conscientious shopper especially when it comes to basic needs like tires. Price is very important to me but so is service. There were 3 gentlemen I dealt with here, Ed the point man, Scott the mgr and the installation man who's name escapes me but kudos to him for his attention to detail on taking care of my car. Needless to say the price on my Pirelli's was comparable to some anonymous online service. I was in & out in a very reasonable amount of time and they tolerated me looking over their shoulder. I usually never rotate my tires however Mavis offers free lifetime service so I am very appreciative of that. A rare instance of the right price and superior service. My car was brought in to have 4 tires rebalanced. I politely asked for them to please be careful with the rims as I just bought them a few months ago. After getting home, I noticed A4 wheels were scratched. It looked like they used a screwdriver to take off the old wheel weights and scratched not just the inside of the wheels, but the lip of the outside of the wheels too. Each of the rims has multiple scratches on them now and they're about an inch long. Again, it looks like someone carelessly took them off with a screwdriver. I then went back to the store and spoke with the manager Jimmy. He actually gave an attitude and advised that "they do what they need to do to take off the old weights". This is supposed to be a TIRE store. They should know how to take off wheel weights without scratching the wheel. This is literally one of the few things mavis does, they should know all the tricks of the trade to not scratch a wheel. Not only did Jimmy give an attitude, he also didn't do anything for me. I don't know how Mavis would feel about one of their stores treating customers like this. My brother had a wheel scratched at Pepboys and they not only didn't charge for the service, but they also paid to get it repaired. THAT is how to do business. Also this damage was caused by an employee rushing the job. I will recommend that no one go to this Mavis and I will surely never go there again with this type of management. read more

Mavis freehold performed poorly on my E 150, including 10 lbs over on each tire, not resetting my TPS tire pressure alert system, and telling me that the shocks and brakes were bad (a flat out lie) Months later and they STILL do not need replacement. Not only did they not reset my tire pressure alert system, but told me to "drive it around a little" like this would fix it. Horrible service by them and bad job by yelp for not recommending my post. After initial confusion at the counter (totally my fault, as I'd accidentally gone to the wrong location), the man at the counter, and soon after, Cody, helped sort out the (my) problem and got my car set up for service. Even though I'd arrived at the wrong location from where I had set up my reservation the night before, the staff set everything straight and even honored the discount I'd received via the reservation app. When all that was done, they changed out my tire in about 30 minutes, which is by far the fastest tire service I've ever received in my driving life. Very happy with the whole experience (except for my stupid error) and I'll definitely be going to this location the next time my car needs service. I can't say enough good about this place. I expect to pay more for better service, and I have always used this location for a number of vehicles. Something has changed here. Each and every time I bring a vehicle in that is part of a well maintained fleet, there is a problem that is very obscure and hard for them to explain to me. I always ask how can we avoid it in the future, and the explanation is just as obscure. When the vehicle is 2.5 years old and it's worse off after the service than prior, and you have already paid 1400.00 and you are told we don't perform this type of repair here, you will begin to second guess all of the other obscure repairs that are always 1000.00 plus for over the past year and a half. In my first few experiences they were pretty good, and progressively have gotten less enjoyable and significantly more expensive with less explanation. read more

I was EXTREMELY pleased. After a tire blowout, I had to replace all four tires due to wear. I had limited time (needed to be done in less than 90 minutes) and had a maximum budget of $600. The manager found me a great tire at a fair price that met my budget ($598) but exceeded my expectations, including a 100,000-mile set of tires, wheel balancing and alignment. Furthermore, knowing I had a time limit, he put two mechanics on the job and my car was completed in LESS than an hour. Could not be more pleased. Incredibly poor and impersonal service. Absolutely zero respect for people. Showed up 5 minutes before they opened, in the snow, for a 9AM appointment, and was not allowed in the store. He said the the tires would have to be ordered and they didn't have them in stock, but said they would 100% have them in time for my appointment. Warning - do not expect to be here less than 2 hours even WITH an appointment! Made an appointment online for 11 am to replace 2 new tires. When I arrived there was 1 car being worked on. I was told the cheapest tires they had available were $20 more than I had bought the last time at Mavis. No big deal. I let Jimmy know my 2 back valves were cracked and needed replacement and he ensured me they would handle it. Over 2 hours later I see several other cars getting worked on and leaving while my car was still with out any new tires on!! I went inside to check what was going on and how much longer I should expect to wait (I was sitting in the parking lot the entire time) and was told someone "tried to call me", which is not true because I had my phone on me and was sitting in the parking lot staring at them) because I needed new tire sensors. After trying to up sell me for 4 new tire sensors, another $79.99-59.99 each I politely declined and was told they would put rubber valves on (which we already discussed at 11am). 20 minutes later -my car was being worked on and I was out of there by 1:30pm. I will not be returning to this location. I had high expectations after a very pleasant experience in the Woodbridge location after a blow out last year and thought I would get the same service. Came in for an oil change because I didn't have access to a drain pan, left with a car in limp mode due to vtec failure and no oil pressure. I provided an oem honda oil filter which they pocketed and didn't change. Oil was spilt all over the valve cover. I don't know what could have happened to mess up my car this bad. I then changed the vtec solenoid. It was fine for a couple of days until today when it fell into limp mode again for oil pressure activated vtec failure. What did these people do I ask?! read more

Brought my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee into get an alignment done. They asked if I had a lift on my Jeep I said it has a leveling which is barely anything it's 2 inches. He went into the shop and asked his head tec if you could do the work. He came back out and said that his tec didn't know how to do an alignment on a stock Jeep let alone a Jeep with a small leveling kit.
