Do NOT take your car here! I went in for what was supposed to be a simple oil change. They had 1 mechanic on staff who clearly was slow and not capable of keeping up. When they finally gave me my car back it was physically shaking. I told them it was not doing this when I brought it here. They rechecked my car and told me coincidentally the ignition coil blew out WHILE it was at their shop. Just a pure coincidence, nothing they did (of course). After much dispute they fixed it but tried telling me I would have to pay for it at their cost, when clearly their mechanic screwed up my car. Liars and scammers, they can not be trusted! Called twice asking for price on replacing Catalytic Converter for Ford Focus and despite answering all their questions and being given a quote for $400 - $500 dollars, when I drove all the way there and they looked at it, the quote came out to $1,700. When I told them I wasn't interested the price dropped a few times and hit bottom at $900, to which I said no thanks. I asked a friend who gave me a name and number at Mad Hatter Mufflers and Service Center in Ft. Lauderdale and they checked and quoted me $300 for the converter and $70 for labor. I'm headed there in a few days and expect they will come through. I'll update this posting if it turns out they say it's more than $370 after I get there. Regardless, going from $1,700 to $900 because I said I wasn't interested seems pretty strange to say the least. read more

After sitting there for 4 and a half hours and nobody telling me what was going on they never ended up putting the brakes on my car and they said they ordered the part by the vin# and what they they told me is that the brake pads didn't fit. They said they tried 3 different companies and neither of them fit. Them I was told he can get me the pads in 2 days. I would like this I went to go get my brakes done. I'll never go there again and I feel slighted because no-one made me aware of any of this until after 4 and a half hours of waiting for nothing. Also 3 other customers left because they were taking so long. One of the shop attendants (out of 2) went to go get food across the street while my car was stuck on the lift for hours. This business is a joke. I'm livid over this experience . Please save yourself the headache and aggravation. They are understaffed and completely useless. Please learn from my mistake ! Forget this place ! If your going to go to Midas go to Pembroke Pines. At least they know what they are doing and how to treat customers ! I guess that's what I get for trying a new place. Last week I serviced my car at this establishment. I noticed that the place is under new management and I was curios about the level of service that I will receive ( I have been in different shops the last two years). The experience was outstanding from the moment I arrived at this place. I was well received by the guy at the reception and I felt the car is serviced by real professionals. While they changed the oil the brought to my attention a serious safety issue related to my rear tires which was repaired immediately!! The place is highly recommended!! read more

I just moved to the area and started going to this Midas recently. I've been in twice - once for an alternator replacement and once for an oil change. Both times the service has been great, and the staff have been very friendly and informative. My only complaint is that Midas is a little pricier than other locations, so I will most likely go elsewhere for simple routine maintenance. read more

I have been coming to get oil changes and other car repairs here for a few years now, but this last visit of mine absolutely solidified my decision to never bring my car here again. The front desk check in guy, Reggie, was very kind and considerate, which I appreciate very much, but I called in before coming in and was quoted a time for a service but then waited exactly three times that long before finally giving up and asking for my keys back so I could leave. I don't understand others being inconsiderate of my time, nor not honoring the times they quote. The owner of this particular franchise came out while the waiting room was absolutely filled with people waiting for their cars and let's just say that after witnessing his comportment, I have decided to find somewhere else to bring my car in for service. read more

The only reason they get 1 star is because Reggie was okay, but I wonder if it was all a front. He tried to up-sell me ridiculously, but I guess that's part of his job... My car was perfectly fine outside of needing brakes before I brought it in. I originally called to set an appointment to get my brakes done between 10a-11a. Even with my appointment, I was there until 3:45 pm. Reggie tried to get me to get rotors on my front and back tires. I already knew I only needed them on the front, and when I asked if I needed them on the back he wouldn't give me a straight answer. I declined the rotors on my back tires and only got the pads since he said they were wearing down unevenly. I paid $566 for the services on Saturday. As a reminder, my vehicle was there for 5hrs. And we all know they like to point out anything that is wrong with your vehicle while it's there. After taking my truck home, the next day (less than 24hrs after I left the shop) my steering wheel begins to lock up and starts smoking as I get off the express way. I pulled my car into a parking space only to see a trail of fluid leaking from my truck. I had my truck towed to my house and then to the shop Monday morning at 9am. After checking the vehicle, they told me that the fluid leaking from my truck wasn't from my brakes, but it was power steering fluid. I asked how they didn't see it leaking when they had my truck there for 5hrs on Saturday, and Reggie's response was "because it wasn't leaking then." I find it really strange that my uneventful ride of not hitting anything would cause my vehicle to leak fluid; and leak it so much that my wheel locks up. And per Reggie's statement, it wasn't there when I brought it in on Saturday. When they looked at it Monday morning they stated that the leak was coming from my power steering pump and it would cost me $600 to fix. I felt forced to pay it since I couldn't drive my vehicle and I needed to get to work that day. Not to mention, that I was there from 9am-4:45pm on Monday. I will NEVER go back to this Midas, even to get my brake pads replaced. I urge everyone to stay away. Not only will you be there forever, because they don't respect your time, but they will try to up-sell you on things your vehicle doesn't need. Since I can't 100% prove that they caused the power steering issues, I won't say that they did it, but I will say that this situation is a really big coincidence. Customers BEWARE!!! read more

Very dishonest business. I was at this location for a Uber inspection. After 2 and half hours waiting they informed me that everything was good but the front brakes need to be replace. They also told me that they have a promotion on brakes and it will cost me about $260 to fixed the front brakes. When I refused to do the service the attendant was surprised. They assume that you need your inspection to work and will put up with anything that they told you to do. I left went to another mechanic and pass the inspection. My brakes are OK and there is no need to replace pads or fixed rotors. BE VERY CAREFUL and avoid this ripped off services!!!!!!! read more

I brought my van here because I had a leak in my exhaust system. They found a leak in the exhaust manifold and since the rest of the system was rusted from being driven in the winter up north I authorized them to replace the entire exhaust system. I paid $3500 after they found some oxygen sensors that were too rusted to remove. I had to go after hours to pick it up and they were closed when I got there. I noticed a problem right away with my van. I took it the next morning to my mechanic. He found the vacuum line had been left off. As I was driving it I noticed a noise it hadn't had before and I brought it back to Midas. They found a leak in the weld and fixed it. I still had the noise so I called the manager Reginald. He told me three times on the phone that there were no more leaks in the system and that the noise was coming from my engine. I took the van to my mechanic. He found 3 leaks in the exhaust system and actually marked them for Midas to repair them. My mechanic does not have a welder or he would have done the job instead. I went back to Midas and showed them where the leaks were. I watched as their "welder" attempted to fix the leaks. He did not wear a face shield, goggles or gloves. The van was on the rack so it was above his head and the leaks were on the top of the pipes. He reached over his head, turned away from the sparks and ran the welder over the general areas that my mechanic had marked for them. I asked him to perform a simple test to make sure the leaks were gone and he did not. I got back in the car after they were done fixing it again and as soon as I started the car, the noise was still there. I got under the car a took a picture of the welding job they did. It is just globs of solder piled on top of one another. I showed it to a welder I know and he said he has never seen such a bad job. It will have to be taken down and have the solder taken off with a grinder and welded properly or it will continue to leak. I have filed a complaint with Consumer Affairs of Florida and will be contacting OSHA as well. I want my money back so I can pay a real welder to properly install the new exhaust system. I went it with my car making some noise and the person there tells me that my car engine is probably damaged and is going to cost me 3500$ as it is running bone dry. I was shocked as I just had the oil change done almost 2 months back and that too by Midas only at this location. When I told him that, he immediately back tracked and said that he will run diagnostics and let me know. Then afterwards he tells me that the tensioner and belt assembly is the problem and needs to be changed. I okayed that but once that was changed, I'm told that the real problem is the AC compressor and that needs to be replaced. All this on the same day. When I asked why didn't they check more thoroughly before I was told that the diagnostic service cannot do that. But they still charged me for the diagnostics. Ended up paying twice for the car as I had to take it to the dealership and was told that the belt assembly was working fine and need not have been changed. These people are cheats and frauds. read more

I try to be fair with my internet reviews of businesses and I think a 1 star rating is fair this Midas shop. They wanted to charge me alot for a fairly simple repair so I did some research and called the local dealership to see their prices. My research showed me that they were more probably doing unneccesary work and overcharging me (and that is compared to the dealership!). During the summer of 2012, I made the mistake of taking my car to this Midas (located on University Drive in Davie, Florida) iafter Sears claimed it could not repair it. They have a fascinating scheme here: Midas in Davie will claim that it may cost anywhere between $200 to $300 for a repair. You agree and leave. Within an hour they will periodically call you to cite various problems with the car, all the while adding more money to the bill. They did this till my total bill was a whopping $2,000. My car was barely running and had over 100,000 miles so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. BIG MISTAKE. Two mechanics I know later told me the actual cost plus labor should have been $800. Midas on University Drive in Davie are crooks. Avoid them at all costs! read more

Not exactly a happy camper. They scammed my wife the first visit with a padded bill and extra charges. Second visit was quoted $350+ more than my ac guy charged for the same service ( or better). Now, quoted $250-550 more for a brake job ( depending on how much BS you buy into). On the other hand, the guys were pleasant and helped me diagnose another issue, that got them another star. They ARE nice and are fairly knowledgeable, given you almost have to be a rocket scientist to work on some cars these days. All in all, unless you know a fair amount about repairs and pricing, from my experiences, your probably going to pay dealer prices +/- for your repairs, minus the dealer. You may be talked into a few things that you may just as well do without, just like the dealer. I'd much prefer my independent guy who I an trust. He's fair, not cheap, but very good, and not trying to jack up the price each time I visit. I've seen much worse, but buyer beware. read more

The quote they give you on the phone are not the same ones your set up the appointment and arrived at their shop. I left their shop when they try to make me change all 6 of my fuel injectors when I only needs to change one, and they try to sell me a diagnostic test for almost $200! As soon as I walk out the guy by the name of Reggie tell another associate that I was tripping. What is that supposed to mean? If you are a single young lady like me, I do not recommend coming here. They will try to take advantage of you and scare you into thinking you need more than you actually do. I came here with a groupon for rear brake pads and that's the only thing I needed. I didn't need calipers or rotors and they kept urging me to get everything done. Since the calipers were rusted they told me they would break off if they tried to get to the break pads. And that is a $500 repair. Being a medical student I can't afford a repair like that, but they were basically leaving me no choice! So I said just put it all back together. I was about to leave but luckily a different and a lot nicer mechanic told me he would try and be gentle and didn't want me to leave with no brakes. I said to give it a try and the calipers moved so easily that I knew the first guy quoting me all these prices was just preying on me. Even the police officer getting his car examined next to me said "if you were my daughter I would tell you to don't do it, they are trying to take advantage of you being a young lady." read more

I wanted to write an update after I went in for my oil change. I also needed one of my tires changed. The service was great and prompt. The gentleman working on my car rotated one of my tires to the back after seeing there was a minor dent in the rim. He even put in air in my spare tire in the trunk. Came to the location with an appointment at 8:30 and was told that my service would be completed in about an hour. Little did I know, that timeframe was if the parts required for my car were available, which they weren't and neither the technician, order taker, or manager bothered to tell me! The only I found this out is because my wife went into the service bay and asked the tech why he was just standing there. His reply, "I'm waiting on brake shoes." What?!? Excuse me?!? NO ONE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT WAITING, PARTS AVAILABILITY, OR HAVING TO WAIT ON PARTS DELIVERY!! This is beyond unacceptable! It ruined our entire day and was we were then told that "it's in the disclaimer that you signed". At this point, I called corporate and attempted to have my Groupon refunded but because the location viewed it I was unable to do so(Groupon, you should allow for returns for DESPICABLE customer service perhaps). Long story short, the Manager(?), Reginald calmed down and gave us a discount on the service and a free oil change for the inconvenience. To his credit, he did what he could in store, but I would have much rather received my refund from Groupon and taken my business somewhere where they value customer service above anything. read more
