Don't come to this place! They will mention repairs that aren't needed and take your money. I was on the phone with one of the guys asking how much longer it would takes for my care to be done. The guy flat out lied to me. He said the car was still being worked on and it will take 50 min. I was outside making that call and my car was parked. Someone should investigate his place for really bad business. I went their for an oil change and they said my oil pan nut was stripped and it would cost 425 total with oil change. Wow!!! read more

I was a little skeptical to stop in here today 'cause of all the bad reviews, but they were close by and we were in a bit of a hurry. We had a great experience! We were looking to buy a used car in the neighborhood and wanted to get a pre-purchase inspection done. The techs did a very good and thorough job; the guy at the front was friendly and very knowledgeable too - in fact, he's a BMW guy and was able to give us some good insight on the car (745Li). The inspection was only $125 but it basically paid for itself....we were able to use the results as a bargaining chip when it came time to negotiate with the dealer! So we left very satisfied with the service we received, and happy in general just to have worked with polite and helpful guys who knew their stuff. One other thing - they even stayed a few minutes past closing time to work with us. Yay! read more

He put me on hold to talk to the mechanics, came back and told me yes they have plenty of space. I get there in 10 mins I wait for a whole hour asking him how much longer is it going to take. He tells me 45 mins "do you have somewhere to go" umm yea work you told me on the phone you will be able to take me in 15 mins. Customer service is non-existent and they push you into believing you need unnecessary work on your car when you really do not; especially if they believe you know nothing about cars. They tried to talk me into spending an extra 600+ dollars on a job that is covered by a full manufacturer's warranty at the dealer... I couldn't believe the gall they had, I mean come on, the car is less than 2years old.... First of all, this place has really friendly staff. Everyone I had spoken with had a great attitude and seemed eager to help. But despite the friendly staff, I had a horrible experience at this Midas because I feel that I had been taken advantage of. I had taken my car to a family friend who is a mechanic after I had some problems with my front RIGHT tire getting unevenly worn out and strange noises that I originally thought were coming from the brakes. I had both front struts replaced, I got new tires, I even had my brakes replaced along with a few other things and my mechanic said everything on my vehicle should run almost new and I shouldn't have any problems for a while. He recommended me to get a wheel alignment after I get my new tires. So I brought it to Midas. It was supposed to be a $79.99 alignment. I dropped my car off at 9am. They call me at 10:30 and said that the front left inner tie rod needed to be replaced. I had no idea what he was talking about. He said that there's no point in doing the alignment if we don't replace it and quoted me close to $600. This was way more than I planned to spend but he kept insisting that if I don't get the LEFT tie rods fixed, I'll keep having problems and my front LEFT tire would keep getting unevenly worn. (NOTE that it was originally my RIGHT tire that had the problem, I had mentioned it to them before when I dropped the car off). But after being pressured over the phone for a good 10 minutes, I buckled and agreed to let them fix it. Plus they already had my car on the lift, and I wasn't in the area anymore. He said he would call me when the car was done. I never got a call. I showed up around 3:30 and I questioned the guy about the cost and why it was so steep. I had just spent the entire afternoon googling information about tie rods. Tie rod ends costs roughly $20-$50. But on the receipt, it had the parts listed for over $300 and this was only for ONE SIDE!! The inner and outer tie rod ends on the driver side!!! The labor was listed for $180 which makes sense but the employee couldn't give me a legitimate reason why the parts were so overpriced. He showed me the part that he replaced and said some vague stuff. The part looked completely fine to me. If I really had a problem with it, my own mechanic would have said something. So I'm pissed. I feel like this guy just made up some bullshit and charged me $600 for it. read more

Started off a little rocky ... needed new tires. Only two tires were ordered, instead of four, so I had to come back the next day, but Jorge, Marvin, and the guys who did the work were great. Got me in and out quickly for the follow-up appointment. I definitely recommend making an appointment for any kind of service. This is not JiffyLube; you will have to wait, even if you have an appointment. I came back the following week for new brake pads at a lot cheaper rate than what the dealer quoted me (which was more than double what Midas charged!) And you can't beat a lifetime warranty on the pads. read more

Milton is awesome! It seems he's the only person who understood how to operate a car service shop and can relate to customers Bought 2 tires from the shop. Its all they had available. With warranty!!!. Drove off. Hit a pothole (or maybe swiped a curb) couldn't tell, it was raining. 24 mins away from buying them at the shop, 1 tire blew! Unbelievable! Called them up and spoke with a manager (Ronnie) and he tells me the damage is not covered! Seriously?! Milton calls me up later and assures me he's got it covered. I came back on Sunday (no Milton) and meet "I'm Milton's boss" Duane and tells me it's not covered and that Milton can't do anything about it. WTF! I just need tires on my car and decided to just cut my losses and pay for it. Duane keeps talking trying to prove why it wasn't covered. I decided to say fuckit! I don't have to buy from you! I asked for my tire and my keys back so I could go somewhere else! Still riding on this donut spare! I lose $220 because now I don't want these unreliable tires! Have to get a whole set somewhere else! They actually lost a lot more because after talking to Milton, I thought I could bring my car needs to him. Too bad he works at this place. read more

Customer service is hit or miss. Last time (~3-4 months ago) they told me what needed to be changed, offered me coffee, and were polite. This time it's like the clerk wasn't awake, spoke in a soft voice (the guy was at least 6' tall for crying out loud), didn't ask who was there first at 0750 when he arrived for work, and they didn't tell you what needed fixing until you looked at their checklist. Also, they didn't tell you your vehicle was done until you asked them. I give them 1 star for their so-called $19.99 oil change that costs 27 bucks for some reason. This place is a major rip off. I needed my brakes repaired, and i figured they could get the job done quick and easy. I don't have a trusted local mechanic so I decided to give this well known chain a try. I went in on a weekday afternoon and everything seemed fine, they seemed nice enough and willing to help. I dropped my car off and hoped for the best. When they called me back to discuss the price of the repairs I was shocked! They wanted to charge me a exorbitant amount for a simple brake fix. Not only that, but they wouldn't even let me work it down in any way. I either had to do every repair they said I needed or they wouldn't do any of it . Needless to say, I bitterly paid my inspection fee and got out of there. I went with another service center and unsurprisingly was charged half of what I would have paid at Midas. I arrived at the store at 12:44pm for a 1pm appt. No one greeted me. Finally someone acknowledged me at around 1:06pm. He collected my information and obtained my vehicle key. I inquired the length of the wait. He informed me it will take approximately an hour and a half. I informed him I am nurse. I inquired about the sign in the front of the business. The sign advertised free oil change for healthcare workers and first responders. The employee stated "yes, we provide free oil change for nurses." I showed him my credentials. And explained to him that i treat patients that are unable to visit Hospital or Discharged from a hospital. He denied me the service. He stated "we only give oil change to nurses that works in a hospital." That to me is wrong. So your company doesn't assist nurses that helps patients that can't make it to hospitals or discharged from hospitals? That's unacceptable. That was a waste of time. This midas and the Daly City one are owned by the same people. When you choose either one beware. I went there for a simple oil change and left with no brakes. That right no brakes... They should where i had some type of fluid leak on dust cover outside the brakes and recommended a $430 repair to fix the problem. I politely turned that down. I got my paperwork that said two different things. estimate for repairs and tech paperwork saying nothing is wrong. So I pay for oil change and leave as I am driving I realize I have no brakes. I pull over check my car and realize there is now a major leak. Get home check brakes and found my bleeder screw had been loosen. Beware you have been warned. Update: 02/17/2016 So I emailed the company and talked to the owner who owns San Bruno franchise and Daly City mission street franchise and was told his people could have never do anything wrong. They did a visual inspection that all. Last time I checked drum brakes has to be take apart to check. Disc brakes yeah you can look without touching but drum good luck. The owner is only concerned about the profit not safety.The company does not care as long as he pays his yearly dues. read more

Dropped off my car around 11 to do a simple oil change. Tried to upsell me to do a break fluid flush and replacing the air filters saying it is recommended by the manufacturer. Was told that they would not reset the service indicator on my car unless i have all those service done. What kind of bullshit is that? You want a $20 dollar oil change into a few hundred dollar service? Beyond the up selling, took about 4 hours to do the oil change, which I don't mind at all. I still waited another 30 minutes to just pick up my car after you called me it is ready? You making a customer wait 30 minutes to pay you? Seriously, get your service to par. read more

As a girl in her 20's I'm almost always being played when I go into get my car serviced. I came to this Midas for a simple oil change, but I was told I had a leak and I wasn't going to be able to drive 5 miles without my car giving out. They were pushing me to spend $400 to fix a problem I didn't even think I had so I refused. I went to my trusted auto service center, had them look my car over, only to hear there was absolutely nothing wrong. Came in today to get my tires rotated and saw that price for oil change is $49.99 so I told myself might as well since its almost due anyways. So they took in my car and I ate lunch and when I came back guy said my tires were bad and said they can't do a rotation on it because they needed replacement . I'm just curious because the tires have really good thread on them and I just got a wheel alignment and the mechanic I spoke to before going to midas said it just needs a rotation. So I felt that I didn't wanna deal with these guys anymore so I just played along so I could get out already and when It was time for payment the guy charged me $59.99 + tax when in the their menu it clearly said $49.99 but the guy just said they forgot to change it which is I believe false advertising . I knew when I took my car in there I was going to get raked. I looked over the comments before putting mine. I have news for you people, getting your car fixed is expensive. Midas is expensive and they will nickle and dime you to death. I needed my car fixed and they fixed it. If the prices of this place upset you, invest in tools and a car jack and fix your own car. There are now even Youtube videos that will give you a step by step on how to do it. If you don't have the tools, car jack, garage space and know how, then shop around and find a cheap mechanic to fix your car. read more

In comparison shopping for services, Midas Daly City charges a fair price on the bigger jobs they have done for me. People! I don't get all the bad reviews for this place. I take my Honda here for routine maintenance and I'm always treated fairly, get great service for a fair price, with a quick turnaround. Look for coupons online for their oil change and tire rotation. - I got a screw in my tire. Took it to them, and they fixed it in less than an hour. - My headlight bulb went out. It took them 10 mins. - Even once, they said my battery was nearly dead, and I didn't believe them (it was my first visit) because it was relatively new. I had it checked somewhere else, and they were right. I'm a woman and I don't know much about cars, but I know a good group of guys when I meet them. Love this place! read more

I believe this Midas is under new management. Went here for a check engine light of my BMW. The receptionist was helpful and explained to me what the problem could be. There was no appointment necessary, I was in and out. The mechanics gave me honest advice. The codes were cleared. The price was inexpensive. I'm an Uber driver working the bay area from Sacramento when I started hearing or rather feeling a grinding on my brakes. After visiting my nearest Hyundai dealer who explained to me that I needed front brakes but they had no time to do it, I googled the nearest Midas for a front brake repair. I explained to Doug (Midas guy), that I needed to get my front brakes done and that I was from out of town working uber to get my bonus and wanted to get back on the road as quickly as possible. I forgot to mention I'm female and 57. Which obviously plays into the estimate I received. He quoted me a price of $664.96. Mind you, this is for front brakes only! I asked about the labor charge of $206.99 when a front brake job done well, shouldn't take any longer than an hour at best. Since I used to do my own brakes I know this. Refusing to be taken I ended up driving back up to Sacramento, mad cause i missed getting my bonus by just a few trips. I got my brakes done at the shop around the corner from my house who i usually go to for tires and brakes and he only charged me $450 and I got both front and back brakes done. It is the third time I came back to this Midas location and it will be the last time for several reasons. 1. The 1st time, my tire got a nail, it was a quick and simple encounter. The guy was straight forward and nice. 2. I came back the second time to change the car battery and an oil change. The store manager, I believe, was mean and rude to me and my wife. His attitude is unprofessional for the way he interacted with us. We mentioned about the $10 oil change discount for premium oil. The way he demanded to see the coupon is unprofessional. We gave him the benefits of the doubt on the second visit. 3. Last weekend I brought the second car back with an intention to do multiple services which were suggested by the store previously when I came to fix the flat tire in the first visit. I showed different coupons, one for premium oil changes and one for brake oil replacement, $10 discount for each. His attitude and unprofessional customer service happened again. He said I can only use 1 coupon at a time and "it is a common sense". I checked the coupon again and told him that it is not about common sense because I don't see any where on the coupon it mentioned that I cannot combine the coupons for different services on the same day. If it is mentioned on the coupons that I cannot combine multiple discounts for different services on the same day, then I won't ask him because it is indeed a common sense. Even if I overlooked the coupon, it is not professional to tell the customer that they don't have a common sense. Then he said, it is from the corporate, it is not applied to his store. Then I told him the store address is on the coupon. Then he said maybe other stores will honor multiple discounts for different services, but his store will not do it. I don't want to argue with him about how unreasonable he is and unprofessional he is as a person who is managing the store and providing customer service. I just simply told myself that I won't come back to this store again and will call the corporate to inform them about my experience at this store. I am a professional working in corporate environment for my whole career so far. I just don't see myself reasoning with a person like him and especially I am in the customer position. Went in to Midas for an oil change and to get my car looked at before a long trip. They offered an oil change, tire rotation and courtesy check including a visual brake check. The guys here were very pleasant and got me in and out in an hour. Fast forward three days and thirty miles later heading out on our vacation and my brakes are grinding. We pull over and take it in to get looked at and the tech takes a quick look under the car and immediately lets us know the brake pad on one side is completely worn through. They let us know our rotor has also been affected but unfortunately neither of us have the time to get it fixed. We spend the next hour of our vacation getting our car worked on before heading back on the road. At this point we called Midas to let them know and they were quick to apologize, looking at our record which indicated a green light for our visual brake inspection and saying that three days later it couldn't have worn that much. They offered to take care of us when we got back from our trip. So a week later we came in again. They put our car through a full brake inspection and came back telling us they would recommend a re-plating of the rotors and quoted us $372! Not only did they want us to pay for the rotors to be re-plated, but they said they would have to replace our brand new brake pads because they couldn't be liable for them. And yes, they wanted us to pay for that too. We let them know that we didn't feel we should pay for the rotors, as they were damaged as the result of an oversight by them, and definitely had no interest in paying for new brake pads one week after we just got them changed! They responded by saying that it's possible the brakes looked fine during their visual inspection and since they didn't see the brakes themselves they wouldn't "take the blame." We let them know we had been shown the brake pads and seen where they were completely worn through but they responded that they couldn't take our word for it. At this point, we had spent 1.5 hours waiting for them to "take care of us" as they previously mentioned which was the reason we came back. When I asked how they were taking care of us he responded they would take $50 off the service making it $322. Ridiculous! We live in the area and have been to this Midas before and even had our other car waiting in the parking lot to get an oil change but obviously after that encounter we decided to take both of our cars elsewhere. From a customer service perspective, and as a repeat customer, I can think of much more appropriate ways to have handled this situation. We would have even been content to have been offered a refund on the previous service of an oil change and inspection or offer to do our other car for free. Either way it would have cost them only $25 and we would have come back and continued to give them our business. However, now they've lost two cars and earned themselves this review. Nice guys but horrible customer service and clearly a lack of attention to detail. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere! read more
