I needed to get my transmission fluid service (drain & refill). I contacted several businesses around the SF area to get a quote and K West gave me the cheapest price and was able to take me in the same day. We communicated through Yelp. Unlike other businesses, they didn't ask for VIN or Driver's License, phone #, or email just to provide me a quote. No bs, just straight business and that's what I appreciated the most. I'm extremely skeptical person, and honestly been charged more than dealership prices at random shops. But I was recommended this place by my partners parents who've lived here for 40 years and definitely a hidden gem. The guy who helped me listened extremely well and tested everything that was easy fixes first before just charging me for the service requested. Saved me a ton of money when the issue was a simple battery not being tightened enough. They even inspected every other issue and determined they weren't a big issue so not worth trying to fix and didn't try to charge for it anyways. I've been using them for many years. Because they have been consistently good, i.e. very fast, reliable, honest, and reasonable prices, I've taken all my family's cars there, too. I should also mention the good customer service; very polite, provides updates, and recommendations. I'll share one story/example that illustrates my point of view: I have a 93 Acura Vigor that they've always taken good care of, and keeps the car running great. One time I took it in for problems with being jerky with accelerating and starting issues. Problems were fixed; it needed a new cap and rotor. All seemed well. Later, I noticed the car started to run rough at idle. Finally, I took it in to check. This is about at least 3 months later. The next day I got the car back and guess what? No charge! Free. It turns out that the cap/rotor they had put in before became (or was defective), so they changed it out for a new one. This story shows they are honest since it was a different symptom and different time. I really don't like to leave bad reviews because it's already hard running a business, but my experience was just so bad it needs to be addressed for future customers. I had so many high hopes for this place because of all the good reviews, but if you're a girl and dress girlie, they assume you won't ask questions about their prices. They really try to overcharge me by hella inflating the labor price by 3x times the parts price. I feel like they went through my things as the items inside my glove box was all over the place, not how I left it. And when I got home, I noticed that the wires for my dash camera was loose and some of the wires was coming out. Why would they even touch my dash cam? Jackie really messed this visit up for me. Too bad he is only honest to particular people and not all of his customers. Hopefully when you go, you look the part where he won't try to take advantage of you. Very responsible repair shop, friendly, knowledgeable and honest. I know Jackie for a long time (10yrs) while I was taking cars into shop for minor repairs. Mechanics are very helpful and give advice if problems found and let me decide on whether repairs ok or not. No pressure or scare tactics were used. Sometimes, if I thought there was need to replace tires, brakes or oil change, Jackie would be honest about whether that's needed or can be waited till next oil change. On top of that, you can rest assured that you won't have come back problems with the repairs because he would be happy to take care of that free of charges if that was error(s) they made. Honestly, I had only one come back repair with all these years of having my cars there for repairs. Found out that was caused by a faulty part that he ordered, he quickly reordered that and fixed it. I must say some other shops that I went to before would exaggerate the problems and pressure you for repairs, or simply deny if there is problem rises after repair but not K West auto. These guys are awesome! K West Auto care, really work fast and the prices are really reasonable. The customer service is very straight to the point and they let you know what they offer and if it's capable of getting done in a reasonable time. Despite always being busy, they always get you in or out as quickly as possible without the job feeling as though it was done improperly. Normally, I would come here for my smog checks, which used to be $40 but I think they just raised it to $49. They are a full service location and I've seen as many as five cars being worked on at a given time. My overall experience and services have been good so I would give them a 7/10. I would gladly recommend this location to anyone that asked. However, the score would've been higher if they had a place for customers to sit & relax while their vehicles are getting serviced. Having to stand around while things are getting done isn't the most convenient and comfortable thing to do. I just had my truck serviced there and it went really well. I hadn't serviced it in a while so it needed an engine oil, power steering oil, break oil, and spark plugs all changed. I dropped it off, got a quote about an hour later which ended up be much lower than I expected to pay. They kept it a day and a half and a picked it up without any issue. Both of the gentlemen running the shop were very friendly. My only (very small) complaint is that dropping off is difficult in that area because of the lack of places to pull over in front of the shop. You may have to circle a few times until the garage opens up enough to stop at the driveway. read more

I've been to a decent amount of auto shops, both performance and otherwise. And I understand at this time it's super busy to get stuff done in time and rare to do it without sacrificing your first born for payment. But these guys, and especially Jackie, are pretty awesome and run the business in a very honest and straightforward manner. Other shops in the area quoted me 3-4 times labor for a simple replacement job I just didn't have the tools for and these guys got me in and out in an hour WITH a shop full of cars being worked on. While I waited, some woman was test driving a car and passed by to ask him questions on his opinion of the condition of the car before buying. I assumed he would say its fine and shoo her away. To my surprise, he went in depth with her on the condition (based on what he could see in 10 mins) and explained his opinion, checked the under carriage for leaks, and checked the condition of the oil. Very polite and set up a full diagnostic appointment for a couple days from now. Now this is still a review on how I was treated, but seeing that while I waited let me know that this shop does honest work and won't gouge your pockets like other shops in the area seemed to do. Anyway they do great work, and do their best to help you if they can. They're not miracle workers but they bust their ass for you. read more
