Brought my car in because of my flat right tire. They call me the next day saying that the the two back had nails and needed new ones. This place is a rip off. I think they're scamming people. Now my tire sensors are going off even though it's brand new. Go to your local garages, there's a few a block from this scammers. I only take my cars for an oil change here because of their $19.99 oil change and filter. They are fairly quick about the oil change. They try to get you in and out as quickly as possible. The most I've waited was an hr because I came in at a busy time and didn't make an appt. They also let you know exactly what needs to be repaired or changed. They are not pushy about using them for your car services which I like. Everyone is friendly there. read more

Will be the 1st and last time that I will go to this place. All I need is someone to review their cameras because of a damage done on the bumper of my car while its there for tire replacement. They have cameras before entering the parking lot and they can easily see if there was damage before I got in there. The manager gave excuses that the owner is out of town and they are the one that has access to it. I was promised that they will review once the owner is back. Guess what? Went to midas at DALY CITY to do a inspection on my car, they called me 45 mins after i dropped off car for them to tell me i have 3 MAJOR REPAIRS done for a total cost of $1679.75. They said my car was drenched in oil and i need to fix it asap . It seemed super fishy to me so i went to a family owned 15 years of reliable service. And they said they dont know where they got any of that information. That the car had a very minor crack cause very very little leakage. Car was fine. Just needed a quick change of a gasket valve and 3 spark plugs changed out just due to mileage. And this was all a total of 830. THESE PEOPLE JUST WANT TO TAKE YOUR MONEY! Came today looking for a quick oil change without an appointment on a Sunday. Tried Firestone but said they were booked for the next 2 weeks, that was a sure no. Called Midas asking if they'd have time to take me, the lady said she'd have time to squeeze me in before they close and to just drop my car off. Came in couple minutes after and a guy who helped me was unsure if they'd have time. But the lady who I had talked to said "of course we can, this is what we do here we make things happen!" She was upbeat and very pleasant. The guy finished up and said it'd take about over an hour or so. I had left for no longer than 40ish minutes and they called for pickup. I'm not happy with this place period. I came in Sunday for a oil change. Ok service was quick and within 30 min I was ready to pay. Then came the inspection report and I'm told my radiator oil and transmission oil mixed. Hummm really. I didn't say anything and paid and off I went. I go straight home and I'm only about 3 miles away. Park in drive and smell oil burning. Pop hood husband and I look saw nothing thought they must of just spilt a bit when adding it so it must be burning off. Go inside for night wake up at 4 am and start car and off to drop of my son at family's house 50 miles away. Away I go and in town when filling up with gas I still smell oil so I went to a dealership closest to me. Paid 60 bucks for their inspection all they had to do was lift the car and look, Midas didn't put the drain plug in correct let alone tighten it correct and that was the cause of the problem. Lowered car checked oil and I was 2qt low. Wow really I could of blown my engine because of them. So after the dealership mechanic correctly fixed the problem topped off fluids I called Midas back yes I got refunded my 30 bucks back from the oil change they performed but what kind of so called mechanic is working there that they can't correctly put back in a drain plug let alone tighten it correctly to specs. The ones who don't care and mess with your car so you bring it back to them for 1. Then to find and correct the problem but for 2. Say while we fixed it this is what else we found and get more money out of you. Long story short don't trust shops like this their mechanic are not certified correctly to be actual mechanics. Plus I was looking at their labor rates, and called the dealerships the dealership rates were the same if not cheaper, for that price I will go to the dealership where they are actually trained for repair on my car. This place is way over priced and shady. They stripped one of my girlfriends lug nuts when replacing a tire and tried to charge me 400 dollars to just reshape the brake pads even though the tv display shows pad replacement being 250. Basically they tried to upcharge me for a lesser service. Im never coming back again. I'd advise others stay away. read more

WOMEN AVOID THIS PLACE! I won't come back again. Tip: Understanding Spanish is helpful. I had previously stopped at O'Reilly's to check on the cost of a new battery for my vehicle because it was corroding. They informed me it was $121 but they could not mount it. Knowing that I would not be able to do this myself I decided to go to Midas down the street. I should have read the reviews for this place. The guy at the front desk was very kind and came out to the car to check it and said he if I had a handy man he could just clean it really quick. He said that he did not want to charge me for something like this but he was going to see what he could do. He asked me if I had any problems with the battery. I said no. I have never had a problem with it. I just didn't want the corrosion to mess up other things in the engine. He said they were going to check the battery to see if it was still good but he said I am sure it is fine since the car has not given you any problems. The battery cleaning was going to cost $20. After 45 minutes he comes back and says your battery needs to be replaced. It is not good. He said a new battery would cost $248.99 plus $64.44 for labor. That is right $313.43 for a new battery. They also made "suggested" that I get my oil changed, engine air filter, power steering pump leaking valve cover gasket leaking and I should change three of my four tires because of the thread depth. They also said I had a nail in the fourth tire that was whose thread depth was fine. This means all four tires would of had to been changed. What they did not know was that a week ago I had my oil and power steering fluid changed and pumps checked. I have barely used my car in the last week. I had my engine air filter changed recently. I had two of my tires changed in the last month. When I let him know the When I asked if the nail in the tire could be repaired or plugged. He said it was not repairable. I let him know that two of the tires had been changed already. I then asked about the nail and if my tire was going to go flat he said it was a very small nail it should not be a problem. They mark boxes: green= ok, yellow=suggested, red=required. I love how they mark and then scribbled over boxes like they could not make up their minds as to which boxes they should mark. I said no to everything, paid my $20.00 for my battery cleaning and was on my way. Midas please don't write to me your generic response. I don't need to hear from you how sorry you are about my unhappy experience. Your visual courtesy checks are just a way to scam people into paying for a more expensive diagnostic. read more

Although they did not find the source of my car problem, I was not surprised at all for I had the same result from the previous shop I went to. The mechanic Henry took almost 2hrs of his time to test drive it and did several tests on it which they all waived . Doug was awesome and patient with my questions . Last year, we brought our car in for brake service and took Midas' recommendation: New brake pads and machine the rotors. Plus, we felt secure with a lifetime warranty good nationwide. We paid a little over $350. Brake pads normally last about 20k miles. After about 13k, our pads were down to less than 15% both front and back. No problem, these should be covered by our warranty. I made an appointment and brought the car in for service against the warranty. It took about an hour for the inspection. The recommendation: replace the brake pads and rotors to the tune of $950. I thought I was covered by a warranty. The warranty is just for the brake pads. It does not cover the rotors or any of the labor. So, I asked them to put my wheels back on and give my car back. I found a smaller local shop to do the same job for $560. read more

I should have read the reviews before I went to Midas. It's true they will rip you off. My car was running very rough so I brought it to Midas. I explained that I thought it may be the exhaust but I wasn't sure. I also said if there is nothing MAJOR wrong with the car DO NOT change the oil.....What was The first thing that they did......change the oil. They did a quick look over and told me I had milky oil which indicates the head gasket is bad. Milton also explained that I needed a catalytic converter and that my coolant light was on and I had dangerously low coolant. My coolant light was on, but i had the coolant changed. Flushed and refilled but never had the light shut off ( RED FLAG). I said to go ahead and diagnos my car for which he quoted was $128 and I left my car for the day. So I went to get my car and they said there is nothing wrong with exhaust. They didn't investigate why my car was running rough, the checked out the exhaust because that's what I said it may be. I ended up paying $128 for a diagnosis that was a waste of time and money, and STILL I had to pay for the oil change. The head gasket is a major problem but they changed the oil anyway just to get more money out of me! ALL MY CAR NEEDED WAS FUEL INJECTION CLEANER!!! MY CAR IS RUNNING FINE!!! If you are a female, with little to no knowledge of the cars mechanics, this place is the classic example of a how mechanic ripping off a lady! Milton was very nice and always had a smile on his face! I guess that was his way of trying to ease the pain while the screw you!! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AND ALWAYS READ REVIEWS BEFORE YOU INVEST IN YOUR VEHICLE!!! It's a good place to go I guess if you need a small fix. My service advisor Andy was friendly and this review isn't directed towards him. However, Milton has a certain attitude that I don't like. I came in at 5 one day, and he turned me down for an oil change. Okay... whatever. I ended up coming back the following week, and Andy asked him a question about the type of oil my car needed and he answered, then finished the reply with .. " but.. give her what she wants..." with an attitude. Great example as the store manager. During my visit, the mechanic said my coolant was empty and my transmission fluid was dirty. They also said I was leaking oil. For all 3 repairs, they quoted me around $300. Mind you, my intent was only the $20 oil change. A few days later, I took my car to my dad and his mechanic friend to perform my coolant flush. I come to find out my coolant is FINE and so is my transmission fluid. My car has never even overheated!!!! They also looked for oil residue from the supposed leak and there was no such thing. This shop preys on women because of their lack of knowledge of cars. Avoid going here if you are a woman alone and if you do, get a second opinion first!!! If I didn't have my dad and his friend look at my car, I could have wasted a couple of hundred dollars. Stay away from this place on your brake work. Took my car there around September of last year to get my brakes check as my car was shaking to a stop. Henry did a break check and said brake pads and rotors needed replacement. So I went ahead to get this job done alone with other works that they suggested I needed, so I changed all four tires and wheel alignment. Total cost came at over $1100. The problem on my car resurfaced recently as the car shakes again as I pressed on the brake pedal to a stop . This is January of this year now just four months since they did my brake work. And so took i it back to them to inspect the brakes again and they said I need rotors front and back and brake pads front and back. total estimate for the job $1300. This upset me so much because I would be paying for the same job again and this time they were adding more costs, the back side. How ridiculous is this? Are these guys installing plastic or carton rotors? And how will brake pads wear in such a short time. The warranty on the brake pads is a catch to install you faulty rotors so you come back again and spend your money on a job that should be good to last a while not 4 months. A complete rip off here. Stay Away... i regret not checking reviews before having my brake job done here in the first place, idiots and opportunistic mechanics is all you have at this Midas. read more

But now our car is suffering from unidentifiable engine damage which will cost us thousands of money to have it thoroughly checked. My car had a muffler problem, I needed new brakes and new tires, an alignment and an oil change. I scheduled an appointment at 10:00, left my car and picked it up at 5:30. Previous to bringing in my car, it was shaking violently when driving, making a "motorcycle" like noise when I started the car. I also needed to get worn out tires replaced, new brakes and an oil changed. I paid a pretty penny for the work done but now my car feels like am driving on quietly on air. The customer service was amazing and friendly. Kudos to Rob Polanco for his service which was top notch. He informed me about prices, the repair and how long it would take. I brought my car on 10/26 into the service location at 7198 Mission Street, Daly City, CA. My coolant was leaking. Because I had not driven my car in 4 months, I needed a jump to start the car in the morning prior to my appointment at 8 a.m. The car would not restart once I arrived at the shop because I had not driven the car for enough time to recharge the battery. I explained this to the service manager who kept pushing a $199 diagnostic to determine why the car would not start. I have read several complaints about this location online previously, but did not believe the level of incompetency. Within the course of 45 minutes after opening, the shop only rotated 1 set of tires. I would never use this location to perform any service for my car. I ended up calling AAA and drove my car to a reputable service location in SF. Should Midas need to close a service location for corporate consolidation purposes, this location should be the 1st one on the list. read more

Every time I come in, I have an appointment but I always end up waiting 15 minutes just for someone to help me get my car in. It's crazy. They don't even apologize for the amount of time you have to wait to get helped and then on top of that, you have to wait for your car. Took my Nissan NV200 in for brake pads, $300 later I got brake pads, and yes that was all I got for $300. $134.99 for parts and $154.95 for labor, tell me there is something wrong with this. So they took over an hour to change the pads, or else they charge $154.95 per hour for labor, the bill does not give an hourly rate. Never going back there again, and I will make sure that the word is out there for everyone to see. P.S. I had requested dealer parts, after two hours waiting for them to call me letting me know they were doing so, I called them and then was told that they called three time and left messages (still waiting on the messages to come up on my phone) was the told that they could not get the parts that day and would have to wait until the next day, I told them that I could not. This place sucks ! Plain and simple , I only came here because I got a coupon from Safeway. I didn't bother to check the yelp reviews (what was I thinking ) I made an appointment for 8 am.. When I got here no one was in the office , one of the technicians came in turned on the computers and said nothing to me. The receptionist came in at 815, and finally sent my car in. As my car was up getting the oil change all the technicians were in the office hanging out, with no one working on my car. An oil change should take 15 minutes max... I've been here a solid hour and still do not have my car back. The extra $5 off coupon is not worth the time !
