Very disappointed in the customer service I received. The gentleman working the register was abrasive and rude. They told me to drop my car the day before and then told me the next day that "the gentleman said it could be worked on". I should've never used them, because prior to that experience, he told me that if I am ever late to drop of my car for an oil change, that he would remove me from their rotation. This is my third time utilizing Midas and I'm still impressed. Their service is relatively quick and always friendly. Jeff, the new manager, is very personable and informative. I overheard him giving an estimate that surprised a customer but instead of holding firm discussed other options such as utilizing universal parts instead of OEM. Tim, the assistant manager, is the same way. Actually overheard him with an elderly lady having battery issues. He did not have her battery in and she couldn't wait. So he told her he would call her when it arrived and if for some reason her car wouldn't start, he would personally come help her get it started and replace the battery. Above and beyond. read more

At first the man on the phone was very friendly and I felt good about coming there. However, upon arriving a few minutes late the man at the front desk made a snarky remark about how I was late. Then, I was told that my battery was the original battery and needed to be replaced even though I drive a Mazda (the battery isn't a Mazda battery). I was there for two hours and half of which my car was left with no one working on it. I had to walk outside and out my belonging in my parked unlocked vehicle with the top still open to get them to acknowledge me. I understand I am a young female but I do not recommend this business. Their prices are not worth their unfriendliness and I would recommend going to a dealership. I also got home and my windshield fluid was still empty even though it was checked green that it was full. Disappointed in the snarky looks the mechanic was giving me. I also mentioned a 10 dollar coupon which I had to ask for twice to put on my bill. Just bad. I initially came in with a dead starter. They cut me a fabulous deal and fixed the starter, and as I pulled out to drive my car away, the dash lights were blinking before it even got out of the parking lot. Fast forward two blocks, and my car is dead in 5:00 traffic because the engine won't idle. How did they miss this? No matter, I said to myself. Sometimes things come up that you can't foresee, or the problem is deeper than what it initially appears. After having my car pushed into a parking lot by two police officers, two Midas mechanics showed up to fix it. After about an hour, I said they could take it back to the shop and get to it the next day. It was after 6PM, and it was around 100 degrees outside. I didn't want to be there any more than they did and could get a ride home from a friend. I was utterly ignored by both mechanics, who insisted on pressing forward without so much as consulting me on towing options of any kind. I tried to bring up that I have Roadside Assistance, which gives me free towing under 15 miles, but was not acknowledged because...well, I'm not really sure why. So I continued to sit in a parking lot in the sun. When I mentioned leaving to find shade nearby, one mechanic nicely offered to let me sit in his air conditioned truck. Eventually, a third mechanic (the manager, I assumed) shows up and they finally get my car running again after puzzling over the problem for about an hour and a half. I thanked them for staying past closed (despite me wanting to leave) to make sure my car was running, and they suggested I come back in the next day to get the fuel injection cleaned, as that seemed to be the problem. They said what they did that day was just a band-aid, and if I didn't follow up, I would continue having these problems. Day two, I return to have them do more work. The spark plugs and gasket were replaced, and the fuel injection was cleaned. They threw in the gasket for free, which was much appreciated. They finish up, I come to pick up my car, and everything seems to be running smoothly, hurray! A week later, I am headed out of town after work to have a weekend with family, and an hour out, my car suddenly starts blinking and has the same issues; it inevitably dies in traffic because it won't idle. Cue flurry of phone calls to Midas, as well as yet another tow truck. I wound up having to pay for half of the tow to get it back to the same Midas. They say they will take a look at my car. And then we move on to the next day, when Midas doesn't call until four minutes after closing, saying they'll be around for another ten minutes if I want to pick up my car. I don't have a car to get there and can't make arrangements in that short amount of time to get there. Oh well, I guess. Long story short, they couldn't find the problem. And that's about it. That's where the saga ends. OR DOES IT? I wrote a complaint in through their website, as I paid over $500 into their shop in total, and still have a problem they can't fix and apparently can't find and apparently don't feel like looking for. A cursory Google search brings up a myriad of options on what could be wrong - even specific searches for my make, model, and year, and all they could say was that they tried, but no dice. What I got in response was an utterly unapologetic woman on the phone who did not understand the problem. I was told they didn't tow my car when I waited for two hours in a parking lot because I "didn't want the extra fees" - um, nope! Not what happened! There was a host of other bullshit, the woman was completely unapologetic, but what's important is what happens next. I came in this afternoon to pick up my keys, and didn't really want a confrontation. I really just wanted to take my car somewhere else and put this behind me. Instead, the manager used my written complaint to fabricate lies about what had happened and bully me until finally he wrote me off completely. I was not allowed to defend myself or clarify. He didn't care except to show hostility and total disregard. The Midas service motto, for reference - "At Midas, we will always do right by you and your car - and help keep you safely on the road"? My car was not safe and I don't feel safe driving it now that they've given up and given me what amounts to a hearty "go fuck yourself". They have not done right by me, not even a little bit. The discounts weren't worth the hassle. *** Fast forward: not even 6 months later, and I've come to find that my vacuum hoses were put on backwards, the fuel injection clean was half-assed, and the starter they replaced shit out and had to be replaced yet again. These are words from another mechanic's mouth, not mine. If this place burned to the ground, I would be the first in line to fan the flames. read more

It was nice to be able to get it taken care of right away and the service was great. Didn't feel like they were trying to sell me stuff I didn't need. Congratulations!! You are very wise reading this review before deciding on having THIS Midas location (Rangeline Rd. in Carmel) service your vehicle. Let me preface by saying, I happen to work for the local media so, it's my responsibility to share my experiences, both good and bad, to the public. I went to Midas from an offer I saw on the back of a Kroger receipt, "OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION $19.99!" so, I thought this would be the best ticket in town! Was I EVER wrong!!! I've maintained my vehicle exceptionally well and have kept it in a pristine, A+ standing! My friends and family know how I am when it comes to my cars operational standard. Having said this, once the Carmel Midas on Rangeline Rd. touched my vehicle, only 2 DAYS LATER... my engine is overheating as I'm SITTING in the Thai Castle parking lot talking with a fellow patron, as she alerts me to the smoke coming out from underneath my hood. I immediately drive literally only 3 blocks back to Midas and have one of the mechanics come outside and have a look at it. He tells me to turn on my AC to make sure the cooling fans are on. I do so. The temp is still rising so, he pops the coolant reservoir and asks me if the temp is going down as I inform him it isn't. I turn the ignition OFF and he tells me he wants to pull it in the bay to do a pressure test and look for any obvious leaks. To no avail, he couldn't see WHY it was overheating other than the possibility of the coolant being low. (Again, let me emphasize that with my being OCD when it comes to my vehicles, there's NO CHANCE my coolant was low!) So, while in the bay, here comes another mechanic, looking at his fellow worker with a puzzling eye as if he wanted to tell him, "Hey... How are we supposed to make any money off of this guy if you're trying to help him for FREE?".... (When, the look on the guy who was actually trying to HELP me, was almost as if he was trying to TELL ME something but, couldn't! It was quite apparent! Anyway, here comes this obese, smart-ass of a manager, telling the guys to get my car out of the bay since it doesn't have a 'ticket on it' where it's being charged! (Mind you, this is the same place I had my oil changed only 2 days ago.). So, here I am, TODAY, with this problem, when there hasn't been one thing even conceivably wrong with car... and they insist that it's purely coincidental??? BULLSHIT!!!! I immediately called a good friend of mine who, happens to be a savvy attorney, and 'coincidentally' enough, tells me that I'm not the first person he's heard from regarding wrongful practices with the Rangeline Rd. Midas shop. So, bottom line... Looks like they're gonna get a rude awakening from my attorney on April 1st (April Fools Day)!! Guess the joke was on MIDAS and not me!! This review is somewhat for this location.... Mostly for Woodbury, NY however this location almost blew up my vehicle.........I still give it a 0 for now. I wish I could give a 0 stars on this Midas! Not only did this location screw us but they cost us over $5,000 and they did not fix our truck they made it worse than what it was. We took our truck here because I had some what good luck in Indiana where we are from. We had to tow the truck back to Indiana for $800 to 'try' to fix what Midas screwed up and guess what it's still not fixed since April 2015! They made things even worse than what was actually was wrong with it. Please please please do NOT take your vehicle here!!!! They told us it would be fixed in the next 'few' days and over a month later it still wasn't fixed! And we had to pay a month in rental vehicle and a month more in a hotel. I will NEVER EVER take my vehicle to Midas ever again. And after trying to call corporate to help.... Ha ha that was a joke!!! I will never trust Midas again even in Indiana. They left a rag in my civic's engine almost catching it on fire! Like I said they used to be good but never again will I take my vehicles to Midas again and I will make sure everybody I know doesn't either!! read more

They'll try to screw you over! I moved to Carmel recently and I went to this location and was told that my car had 2 things wrong with it and it would cost $750 to fix. I wanted to get a second opinion so I took it to another mechanic back home and they said not only was one of the things that Midas said was wrong with my car PERFECTLY FINE, but it only cost $250 for the repairs. I will not be going back to this location and I have heard from coworkers that Midas tried to add on charges to basic things that needed done on their cars! read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS MIDAS. They do shoddy work and will not fix their mistakes. Here are some background details. I had to take my 2001 VW Jetta to the Midas on Rangeline Rd in Carmel, IN when it overheated on my commute from Greenwood to Carmel. The waterpump had a slow leak for a couple months, but I did not have money to fix it. When the car overheated it cracked the thermostat housing. When I got to work, I looked up all the mechanic shops in Carmel. My last choice was Midas because they had several bad online reviews. All the other car shops were busy that day and couldn't make this repair. I regrettably took my car to this shop because I needed my car that day to get home. On a side note, I paid $168 for the thermostat housing and labor which seems kind of high for this repair. The invoice shows that this part was two or three times the cost of the part at Autozone. Also, it seems like the labor charge was high. To change this part you have to remove the airbox, three hose clamps, an electrical connector and two bolts. This took me fifteen minutes at home. I would've fixed this myself if I wasn't stranded at work without tools. They fixed the thermostat housing and let me know that the water pump is leaking. They quoted a price of $800 or more (not exactly sure). This is probably a normal rate for a waterpump repair. I told them I would fix the pump myself. At that point, the thermostat housing appeared to be fixed and the water pump still had a small leak. A couple weeks later the thermostat housing was pouring out fluid again. I took this car to the Midas by my house, and they wouldn't touch it because the Carmel shop worked on it. I drove it up to Carmel, and they let me know that one of the bolts on the housing was stripped. They said they fixed the bolt and that the waterpump is still leaking. I let them know that the leak isn't bad, and I would fix when I had time. They towed the car back to the Midas on the south side of Indy, because the "car is pissing coolant." For six months or so (during the summer) I topped off the coolant once a week (not exactly "pissing" coolant.) When the leak finally got worse, I changed out the water pump on my own. When I get done with the water pump repair, I noticed that the thermostat housing is leaking. I assumed this was fixed, so I never looked at that side of the engine for a leak. I took this housing off and noticed that one of the bolts was held in by red thread locking compound. This mean that it wasn't just the bolt that was stripped. The bolt hole in the block was stripped. Midas should have fixed this bolt hole with a helicoil or tapping it a larger size. Admittedly, I don't know if Midas stripped this hole, but they sure did not fix it correctly. I called back today and let them know that the thermostat housing is leaking because one of the bolt holes is stripped, but the housing part is fine. I asked if they could repair this hole for free, because I have evidence that the original repair was not done correctly. The manager Dave let me know that he cannot help me with this repair because I could've stripped the bolt hole myself. I let him know that I found red Loctite compound on the bolt they inserted. This bolt could've failed at any point. I would not have taken this part off if it wasn't already leaking. Furthermore, I could not prove the root cause of the leak without taking this part off. He also said he could not help because I continued to drive the car when the water pump was leaking. I admitted that I drove the car for six months or so with a minor leak, but this water pump leak is unrelated to the thermostat housing leak. Now I have to take my car to another car to get the mounting hole in the engine block drilled and tapped out. I let them I know I would put this review online and send it to the BBB. I took my car to midas because i want to get rid my brake annoying sound. It sounds like grinding and i tought it would be a big problem if i didnt get it fix. And then they told me the price is about $620. I would do anything for my car bcause it was a brake problem. So they fix it and i paid for that price. After that i drove my car and the sound still there. I went back to midas and told them the problem didnt solve yet. But they told me that was a rotor problem and that wouldnt cause a safety issue. But if i want to fix it cost like $300!!!! Wth!! I brought the car to midas because i want it fix but they did something else instead. Never go back again!!!!! read more

My wife also went to this poor excuse for a business because of the $19.99 coupon. She went in on a Tuesday, showed them the coupon. They said she would have to make an appointment for Saturday. They knew then what kind of car she was driving. She showed up Saturday for her appointment, they changed the oil, rotated the tires. The bill came up to $51.99. The manager told her that her car, a 2013 Chevy Cruze, took special oil, and a special filter that was not covered by the $19.99 coupon. They could have told that on the previous Tuesday when she came in initially. My wife is a professional with very little time on her hands and gave them the go ahead to do the work. I do wish she called me first. This place is a RIPOFF. My wife felt bullied by the manager. They also informed her that there was a nail in her tire and for an additional $23.00 they would take care of that for her. She came home and guess what? I could not find a nail in her tire. We will never do business with these people again. The national Midas management should take a close look at this place on how they do business. Went there for my battery replacement. They checked my battery and alternator and told me I needed an alternator and I probably wouldn't make to the dealership. I drove to the dealership with no issue and my alternator tested perfectly no issues at all. They are just looking for a quick cash grab. Never will go here again. Stay away! read more

Not only did they give us a great deal they wrote down exactly what happened and all the codes my car was having showing up. Upon that made sure to give us a warrenty on all of the new parts. I have seen quite a few coupons in the mail and in publications locally so I thought I would give them a try. I did not need an oil change yet but I did have a headlight out on the low beam and went there on Saturday afternoon.I arrived at 4:30 pm and saw they closed at 5pm.I went to the desk and asked the clerk if I could get a headlight fixed. He looked over to who I assume was the manager on duty and asked "can we do this? The "manager" said we would but we are getting ready to close. I was thinking, last time I checked it does not take 30 minutes to change a headlight beam. Oh and these were the only two guys there with no work being done on cars in the garage. They were both sitting in the lobby doing nothing. I told them not to worry about it and walked out. This will be my first and last visit to this establishment and will be telling my friends and neighbors about the poor service and lack of regards for their customer. read more
