I do not make many reviews on yelp. However, Harry's service at this Midas has compelled me to do so. Harry and his staff deserve every bit of praise as they can get. As someone who is very choosy with who handles my car (2012 Mustang), I am relieved and very glad to say that I have finally found a shop that I TRUST in Boston that can get the job done right, not bullshit me, and explain to me in an honest manner every detail I wish to know. Harry leads a fine crew at this Midas. Harry always has a smile, a positive attitude, and a hell-bent drive to get your shit done as fast and cleanly as possible. He struck me as a man who genuinely cares about you, your car, and even your own well being! Harry will make sure you always go out the door with a smile. Harry's assistant, Keith, is another stand out and clutch member of this crew. When Harry was not available at times, Keith was able to give me everything I needed to know. Keith worked very hard on my car and it runs literally (I can't believe I'm using this phrase) just like new. Honestly, if you or anyone is looking for a an auto shop that will give you the best service and work ever, it's this Midas. Once again, I don't write reviews. Harry definitely deserves this one though. They're also doing $20 oil changes and tire rotations! ------------ Tuesday, July 18, 2017 - First Service Done - Tire Change I called that morning because I had heard that this Midas was doing online matching for tires. When I called, it was Harry who picked up. I let Harry know that I had found an incredible rate on Pirelli P-Zero tires, and that it was about 2-3 days shipping. Not only was Harry able to get his boss to match the price, Harry was also to get the tires in THAT VERY SAME DAY. I thought I had to wait until Friday at the latest, but I was able to go in that afternoon, and come out with a set of fresh new tires. ----------- Saturday July 22, 2017 - Saturday, August 5, 2017 On July 22nd, shortly after I had gotten my tires changed, my clutch and fly-wheel totally crapped out on me while I was on a drive. I ended up towing it to this Midas and leaving it in their lot over the weekend because I had no idea who else to go to and Harry proved to be trustworthy on my last visit. My car was immediately taken in that following Monday morning and work began on it before I even got to the shop. My car ended up being a nightmare of a job because of how new it still is. But Harry and Keith worked hard on it anyway, hooked me up with whatever discounts they could, and were very communicative throughout the entire process. I received my car back that Saturday night. i did not get the chance to read the reviews before coming here as my car broke down a few miles from this shop and i had no choice at the time. so when i finally did get a chance i was a bit nervous as i read countless reviews of the awesome manager named harry and then a few negative ones in between. it didnt make sense at the time - the contrast of reviews. Now that my vehicle is back on the road - i will say this: there is nothing negative at all anyone can say about harry and his team. what they do here to repair cars and help people is nothing short of miraculous. it is almost magic. This shop is very small, seems like it should only be capable of doing maybe 10 cars at a time. but they are constantly taking in cars and people who trust in them for their repairs and they do not mind the wait because this is probably the only honest repair shop in the entire new england area. everyone i met here had a great attitude and they all were so happy to follow the orders and directions of their captain harry. sitting there for several hours (my car was pretty broken) i was able to watch this man plead with parts places for help, ask his technicians if they were okay doing certain actions that were above and beyond the scope of their job description - all to help the customer save money and time! i couldnt believe how this man actually favored helping save the customer money over making a huge profit. i watched this man crawl under a car, do a simple FREE repair on someone im guessing is a long time customer, negotiate a hundreds of dollars savings to another client, explain thoroughly to me the problems with my car (i am no car expert, but i felt so comfortable with his explanations), answer several calls - all in a 5-10 minute span. then i find out he is not even the owner! i cant wrap my head around how lucky this corporation is to have such a hardworking, likeable, and honest man. i was so delighted and impressed that i gave the man a 500 dollar tip (he saved me atleast 2400 from the dealerships phone quote). after adamantly refusing several times to take the money, i watched as he made sure all his employees got some of the money i was happy to give. you can tell they all love this man. it would be a huge disservice if i did not declare to the world this mans existence in our community. shame on all the people leaving those nasty reviews that are very obvious an effort to damage a places reputation because of their own nasty agendas! read more

I am someone who usually works on his own car because I do not want others to rip me off and I don't trust repair shops. However, the manager here, Harry, won me over when he solved an electrical problem that I have been going at for months. After I had no choice but to bring it to other shops, I was ready to quit after paying hundreds of dollars to other shops for no answer that corrected my issue. I gave Midas a call only after reading reviews about this manager who supposedly knew his stuff. After explaining the issue to him and all I had gone through, he offered a deal I couldn't refuse. Leave him the car for however long and he would find the problem. Suspicious I asked him how many thousands this would cost me. He said I had paid enough for this already and that he would charge me 100 bucks only if he found the problem. I will say I thought he was stupid for making such the deal because this was going to cost him time. That same day.. he called me to come pick up my car, I figured he gave up. I was surprised when he asked me to pay him the hundred. He then showed me the problem, using electrical tools I have no idea how to use and pinpointed my issue to be my battery terminals and grounds being corroded and causing too much resistance. Then he explained to me how and why. I was humbled by this kind mans thoughtfulness and willingness to do what no other shop will do.. explain to me in understandable terms how he fixed my problem without selling me crap unrelated. Taking your car for repairs is usually a painful and confusing experience, right? We are always left wondering if we are being upsold, played, cheated, and lied to. I came here because of the awesome reviews I saw online. I was immediately greeted by a very busy shop and didn't think they would take me, but they were very accommodating and transparent with us and so we decided to leave the car. Harry called us and thoroughly explained it to us and we felt comfortable with the repair. he offered to send us pictures or facetime so we can see the needed repairs. Shops do not usually do this! they are a secretive bunch out to get us!! lol but not here... they tell you what you need, what can wait, and whats no big deal. of course because they are so great, they are extremely busy but somehow they still managed to get us the car back by the end of the day. will definitely recommend friends and family to come to the one honest shop in boston! read more

I called "Paul" late in the day (3pm) to ask if he was able to take a look at my car, that was having exhaust issues. Expecting to hear "no, sorry", he instead said "yes, sure, come on down". Right from that call I knew I was going to be in good hands. Paul and his staff diagnosed the issue immediately and also mentioned a few other issues that they found during the initial check. There was no pressure to fix the small issues then & there, but rather they seemed genuinely interested in just letting me know the things they found that needed to be repaired. He was honest, straight-forward, friendly and made the daunting process of having your car fixed, painless. I saw the way he was nice to other customers while I was there and was very impressed with how kind & helpful he was to everyone. i highly recommend this Midas location, even though it may be a tad circuitous to get to, it's worth the effort. The mechanic strived to pressure us into getting unnecessary repairs done, that's a sign that they may be trying to rip you off. 3)Poor communication. The garage didn't keep us updated on the progress of the repairs and didn't care to let us know about unexpected problems and costs. I received extensive work done from Harry and I have nothing but positive things to say about his work! I needed a catalytic converter which can cost upwards of a thousand dollars and all four brakes done. He went out of his way to find me the lowest price for the converter, calling around everywhere until he received the best deal. He also did all of my brakes which are now at a lifetime warranty. So if I decide at any point I'd like Bre brakes all I'd have to pay for is labor. After finishing this amazing work, he lifted my car in the air to specifically show me all of the work he did. Most mechanics hardly take time to point out and explain their work. He also takes his time with the work making sure that it is done correctly not in a hurry. My experience here inspired me to create a yelp account so I could leave some feedback. My car needed new breaks and rotors so I started out doing some research and getting pricing, even entertained the idea of doing it myself. These guys came out middle of the road for pricing but figured the extra few hundred bucks would be worth the quality. These guys did not disappoint, Tony and Scott were very helpful and honest with me. I was able to make an appointment the night before and they took me first thing in the morning. The gentlman who replaced my breaks came out when everything was complete and handed me my key (very personable). I would highly recommend this garage. !!!AVOID!! This THIEVES shop!!! Completely agreed Jianfeng's comment, very aggressive FEES shop, RIPOFF shop compare to other named brands shops like Pepboys, Townfair and Good Year. Last time I was forced to pay $25 more than their website offer for changing a tire, and way higher than Townfair Charge. I let it go. Second time I was completely got RIPOFF. I think the store manager indeed needed money very much, he needs money in a crazy level. The job is done good not great. I paid 40% more than Pepboys, and what I was told on the phone in MIDAS for changing a battery. Never again! Midas - Brookline, MA is by far the best auto repair shop I have ever taken my car to. Harry and his staff are very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. I have once had my car taken to 5 shops including one MB (the car's manufacturer) service center, and they couldn't even get it to start. But as soon as I brought it in to Midas, Harry and his army found a fix in less than 30 min. More importantly, Harry and his team are honest and have always gone far and beyond to help me get me back on the road safe. I had an extremely bad experience! I took my car in because the AC wasn't working, and they checked it only to inform me that it needed a liquor condensate recharge. I ended up paying over $300 for this service, but the AC stopped working again after just one month. When I brought it back and they rechecked it, they admitted that they had made a mistake with the previous repair. The real issue was a damaged compressor, which was entirely their fault. Shockingly, they refused to refund me for the incorrect recharge. Their incompetence and lack of skill in car repairs are evident. I basically look for three things when it comes to auto care: Honesty, Price, and Customer service (in that order). This Midas has all three. It was time for an oil change, and my car has been making a strange noise the prior two days near one of the belts, so brought it in to have it checked out. Cost $20 for the oil change and tire rotation. The car stopped making the noise the day I brought it in, he told me "I don't want you to pay for something to be fixed if nothing is broken". We have been using Midas for a handful of years. Since Harry has taken over we are sooo pleased. I have been going there for the usual oil changes and tires and have always been happy with their service. This week Toyota quoted that I was going to need about $3,800 work on my 2009 RAV 4: brakes, shocks, spark plugs, etc. I brought the quote to Harry and they reduced the the cost of the work significantly. It felt like I was riding in a new car. The service was completed in a time frame that I needed. All the crew there are helpful & friendly. If I had a concern Harry addresses t with a smile. I dropped by yesterday to request a full car check-up for my 2009 Volks Beetle. Despite how busy he was, Harry was extremely friendly and explained all issues in details. Drove my daughter from Maine back to school in Boston. Hit a pothole and found myself with an unexpected strut repair on an old and tired car. Harry and Joe looked at my car about an hour later. Had it up and running in no time at all. Suggested the proper things to do when replacing a strut, but respected my decision to do the minimum work needed to safely put me back on the road. Harry and his crew are great and honest mechanics. After being given the runaround from another local shop, I took my car to this Midas. Not only did Harry and Matt bend over backwards to fix my suspension on all four corners, they did it in a single day so that I could drive for work the next, saved me hundreds compared to the quotes I'd gotten from other shops, and fixed additional issues the other shops never noticed. I made a reservation for an oil change on a Saturday. The shop was slammed with work but I was still in and out in an hour. The staff had a few suggestions for minor upcoming work that my car might need but, unlike many other places, did not come out with a long list of needed work. The staff was courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this shop....it is not the normal Midas shop but instead one that seems to have a dedicated owner and many returning customers who are known to him by name. read more

This place is great. I've changed breaks and radiator hose in February 2020. Harry gave us a good price that was about the same as another shop outside of town. They quickly found time to fix it and the result was great. Later I had to change a indikator light. The shop accidentally made a scratch in the paint, this was of course fixed for free. The guy who picks up the phone can sometimes be a bit rude, but if you can live with this, you've got a great shop to look after your car at a good price. read more

When you think of Midas you probably also think mediocre or moderate. You might be wrong, you might not, but one thing Harry at Brookline Midas is not, is either of those. Harry actually shows compassion and care towards his customers and employees. He ensures he provides the best deals he can offer at the time, and he does not disappoint.
