5 Stars to absolutely impeccable service in a moment of panic. Ok, so to set the scene, I was broken down on the highway and got towed to this Midas almost in tears because I was 2.5 hours from home and am auto-illiterate. We called the Midas while waiting for the tow truck and Andrew answered. This is where the 5 star experience started. Andrew was kind on the phone and when we arrived continued to be responsive, super clear and honest, and made an effort to include me in the discussion (versus ignoring me and talking directly to my husband). Ultimately, after checking the issue, it was clear that it was not going to be a quick fix. Andrew explained the problem, talked about possible solutions (with approximate costs and timeframes), and consulted on his recommendation (that wouldn't earn them any more money, btw). I felt like I could trust him and was so thankful. They had a sign in the lobby that referenced their dedication to good service and I have to say this was the best I've ever been treated at an auto shop. Had to download the yelp app just to post my review of this, never had such and underhanded shop take advantage of me before today, but this shop did just that. Nice people, good work from what i can tell, one star because as a mechanic i dont like it when others prey on people... they charged me $150 for a part and another $150 for labour to replace a coolant hose that went bad that takes less than an hour to replace and costs less than $25. Just predatory and unacceptable. Check your prices before going here and dont let them make you make a choice or get something like they did with me. They wouldnt let me take my car home unless i paid nearly $300 for a $25 piece i could have replaced myself in 20 minutes in an autozone parking lot. Honestly this should be criminal. The shop team was very professional and helped me as much as possible but it sickens me that the company allows them to markup parts 10 times and not let you leave with your vehicle until its fixed, all i had the time, and money, for was my tires; not being taken advantage of like this. I recently moved to Florida and needed to find an honest and knowledgeable mechanic. I drive a 1999 Lexus SUV, so preventative maintenance is important. I have found my shop. Thanks to Costco and their auto referral program for suggesting this Midas shop. I got an appointment in a timely manner. The manager, Joe, was very professional and explained my repair options. I felt informed but not pressured to make the best decision for my vehicle and budget. While I waited for the mechanic to complete the work, I observed how they handled other customers--- very informative and efficient. The mechanic took digital photos to show customers actual damaged parts. I appreciate this type of honesty. Customer service is superb. I went to midas for the first time ever to have my oil changed and tires rotated. I can't say enough about how friendly and courteous everyone is there. They are super clean, they even put plastic covers over yours seats to protect them. Brent showed me how to set my oil change reminder in my car, and explained everything I needed to know about my car. They really listen to you. My whole family goes there now. ZERO STARS IF POSSIBLE! I dropped my car off for an oil change. When I returned I was told that someone hit my car backing out! I was not offered their insurance or license plates just apologized to. On top of that, they told me that my brake routers needed to be replaced that it would cost up to 500 dollars! I took the car to a family friend who told me my brake routers looked brand new! went there with the intention of doing struts and paying to straighten out the front end. Joe told us it wasn't the struts and needed to do tie rod ends on both sides. We bought 2 tires, they did an alignment . we paid over $800 and next day it was pulling. went back and then were told it was the struts and have to pay another $800 (Joe strongly recommended the credit card). Rear tie rods never adjusted. Rear end never aligned. rack and pinion not installed properly in the past and was hanging off the last thread. because of this, front end could have never been aligned by Midas. I called the day before I brought my 09 bmw 328i in and explained that there was some wires hanging under the car and made an appointment, I was told they could do it no problem. I drop my car off at 10 am and around 2:30 get a call saying there computers are down so they can't look at a diagram of the wiring and asking if they could keep my vehicle I say sure.... more hours pass by and I drive by the Midas and there's my car just sitting by the road parked. I walk in and ask what is going on with my car and I get "We're done with it, bring it too the dealership". I say what the previous person who called me told me.. ya know that the computers were down and asking too keep it and he just smirks and proceeds to scream too some guy in the garage where are the bmw keys.. THEN my car is unlocked. So I got told one thing by someome on the phone and if it wrrrnt for me driving by and stopping there my car would have sat by the rode UNLOCKED overnight for no reason. I am being forced to give this one star because there is not a lower rating. My husband brought our vehicle in for a simple repair and oil change. It was a nightmare. Our car left with more problems than it came in with. Front office staff seems nice but it's very condescending and unauthentic. After mistakes were made, we were forced to take it for repairs at a qualified, competent repair shop thankfully! After the "oil change" it had no oil in it after about two days. So much more. The owner is a liar and very much a megalomaniac in my personal opinion. We were "lucky" enough to be there when he was. He is not someone I'm interested in doing business with. His customers mean nothing to him and you will pay for their mistakes. It's all about the dollar... not the people buying his yatch. Horrible work quality, weak attempts (if you want to be extreme, we'll say attempts) to rectify their mistake, told different stories about our car by different people, treated with disrespect after they made the mistake. This is my personal experience, I would never recommend to a friend. I suggest you do your homework before choosing a business to work with, hopefully it's the right decision for you. I am a loyal customer to Midas and I was happy going to the location on Cortez, until I needed my breaks checked because they were squealing. I was told that I needed new rotors and I took the advice and paid them over $800 to keep my breaks from squealing. Within that same month the noise came back. I took off work to make the appointment to Midas on Cortez in Bradenton. When I explained, the manager said that he would check it out. The sound never happened during their test drive so he told me that he can't fix a problem that he can't hear or see. Furthermore, he told me that if I hear the sound again, I can try taking it to the location on manatee avenue in Bradenton FL, to see if they knew more. The attitude towards my situation wasn't understanding or considerate. It was frustration and disbelief. I was treated like a nagging customer instead of like a customer who just paid over $800 to Get rid of loud sound. Only to be told, afterwards, that the a mechanic at Midas on Cortez Road, do not know what the issue is. I went to the Midas on manatee avenue, and the really nice mechanics there said that the break pad assembly was not lubricated properly. Apparently, the lubricant comes in the same box as the new breaks, and the mechanics at the Midas location on Cortez rd, couldn't see their mistake after multiple visits. The Midas on manatee avenue in Bradenton figured out the problem within the hour of my car being in their possession. Break Mechanics 101. The only advice I'm happy I took from the manager at the Midas location on Cortez rd, is going to the Midas location on manatee avenue. They did a great job and have my business from here on out. read more

I left and got to the place only to have them tell me they couldn't fit me in. They even tried to reschedule me the next day. They wasted my time and my gas. Complete lack of integrity. I've gone to this shop several times for oil changes, tires and brakes. I thought they ran an honest business until my most recent visit. I took my vehicle in to get the power window and a door latch fixed. They told me the window part I needed was $180 and the door part was $85. With labor the bill was going to be over $500! I told them to not worry about the door handle but go ahead and fix the window because I needed my vehicle back quickly to use for work. I did some searching of my own and found that the window part only cost around $80 from auto zone. When I went to pick up my vehicle I found that they were now charging me $220 for the part. I asked about this and the manager insisted he paid $180 for the part and only made $30 dollars on it. I asked him where he got it and he said oreilly's. When I left I called oreilly's and they were willing to sell me the part they had in stock for $87. Keep in mind that they are an auto shop and probably can get it even cheaper than that. I was also told they had to go to Lakeland to find the part and that was why they couldn't get it finished in one day but I called the store a mile away from their shop and they had the part on the shelf. I also checked on the door part they needed and it is only about $10. Not $85 like they quoted me. Where I come from an 850% markup on car parts is stealing! I was told that I could bring my own parts in if I wanted and they would just charge me for labor. If I had known they were going to charge me $140 to fetch a part from a mile down the road I certainly would've done that. After seeing how bad they ripped me off on the parts I can't help but wonder how bad I'm getting screwed on the labor. I'm not sure if I'm more upset about being ripped off or having them lie to my face. Needless to say my money and vehicle will be going elsewhere next time. read more

i got a appointment on march 21st at 1pm and thinking it was a muffler that went bad on my car turned into something else totally. 450.00 later i walk out to my car and drive it home and it felt like the bottom dropped out everytime i would go over a speed bump stuff would be knocked around. i took it back the next day...and they are telling me i have to pay 740.00 more cause they said it has something to do with my undercarrage. i stated it didnt do that when i took it in before. and its aweful funny how it is doing it now i talked with brent who talked down to me. i asked to talk with a manager and he wasnt in i left my number and havent heard back.
