First off I want everyone to know this is not some personal friend of the owners but a real customer. The first time I needed work on my Jeep after braking down I stopped at several places. I knew what the problem was and knew what I needed done and also roughly knew what price should be. This shop was not the cheapest price I got but judging by the look of the shop it would be the best fix I could get. I was right they did an exceptional job and they were very friendly. And the price was very fair. After the work was finished I was on my way and even though they did a great job I hoped I would not be back. Well things didn't go as planed and almost 8 months later while off roading in the area I again broke something on my Jeep and again I knew what I broke and didn't even think twice about where to take it. When I got there they were getting ready to close for the day but seeing how all I needed was a starter and they had one they agreed to do it for me before closing. As I sat in the lobby I began to get light headed and felt dizzy noticing me not looking good Julie (I hope I got her name right) noticed me and came out from behind the counter and sat down across from me. (Ps. I was with my Dad who didn't notice a thing) she asked me if I was alright and if I needed to use there restroom to run some water on my face. I did she started walking with me to the restroom and had also called some one from the back to help too. I at this point did not know how bad this was about to get for me but she recognized my angst. As we reached the bathroom it really hit me and I collapsed on the floor un-able to see or stand back up. My heart was racing and I really felt like I was dying. I was suffering from heat stroke. I apologize but I don't remember the guy's name who stayed with me in the bath room while Julie called for an ambulance but he couldn't have been better either he got my arm under my head so I could breathe and kept pouring water on my neck, wrists and back of my legs, they had also got a fan on me and stayed by my side comforting me telling me an ambulance was on its way. By the time paramedics arrived I had already begun to feel better thanks to all they did for me. I can't thank them enouph for they not only fixed my Jeep but quite frankly saved my life!! I highly recommend going to them first over any one else not just because they fixed my jeep again. But they truly do care about there customers! To all who helped me while I was there ... Since I was driving back to Las Vegas after a wonderful catering job in San Diego, I had to protect a valuable precious load ( my girlfriend, daughter and her friend )and my BBQ smokerI was also towing...My brakes felt like it was going out so I GOOGLED out an Auto Repair shop. THANK YOU!!!!!! From the bottom of my heart!! Went out of their way to help me during an urgent circumstance. This is kind of a weird review to write since the urgent situation started from the Midas in Victorville and ended up in the Midas in Barstow. I'll explain: Earlier that morning, I took my car in to the Victorville Midas to get the AC fixed since I've taken my car there before. They got the job done, however, forgot to plug in the wires for my headlights. OH BOY that was not good especially since my family and I came from Fort Irwin (an hour away from VV) and Fort Irwin Road is a long, REMOTE, DARK road. I would have not been able to go home with my 4 month old in the back if I didn't have headlights. Thank God I had my friend joining me that day as we did our errands with her car while my car was getting fixed. We picked up my car from the Victorville one and we were driving to Barstow. It was around 5pm and most of the car shops were closing. Sun was setting and my friend driving in front of me pulls to the side to tell me my lights are not working. I freaked out since it was twilight at this point and my baby girl was crying bloody murder in the back; she was having one of those carseat phases. The nearest car shops were closed, a nearby gas stations were going to charge me to bring their mechanic when all I needed was to have someone who knew what they were looking at to plug in a wire or two so I can have headlights. I thought of calling the Midas in Barstow. By the grace of God, they answered my friend's phone call while I was trying to calm my baby girl in the back seat. My friend explained the situation and they said we were in luck since they were still working on their last car of the day even though they were technically closed. Not only did they say come right in but the owner (forgive me for forgetting his name) looked at my car but fixed it AT NO CHARGE (I wanted to give him a huge hug) and said he'll call the owner at the Midas in Victorville the next day. Wow. Thank you so much!! What a nice and helpful guy he was! As for the Midas in VV, he apologized and looked at my car for free when I was able to go back a few weeks later to make sure everything was good. read more

We have a 1996 Mustang that needed a new ignition starter, a new clutch, as well as other problems, all on different occasions. The staff here is amazing at fixing that old car. They even kept the car safely on their lot for an extra week or two when we couldn't pick it up because of my husbands work schedule. I really appreciate the lady at the front desk. She is always friendly and figures out a way to give us a military discount. What my husband and I really love about this place is that a couple of weeks after taking our car to them they sent us a hand written thank you note! Talk about customer service and the desire for repeat customers! If I could give them more than five stars I would. read more

I am forever grateful for all the nice people at this Midas location for what they did for me. I was traveling from LA to LV and on the way my car's bottom cover came out making violent noises as we were driving. Luckily, it happened in Barstow near a freeway exit. So we drove slowly to this Midas and they took care of it for free, tightening it up with washers and bolts. They offered us water and were very nice to us. read more

Our car started messing up and flashing it's battery warning light and losing charge halfway during our drive to Vegas. We found this Midas using google maps and stopped in unannounced and asked for their help. Within 10 mins they were looking at our car, they were straight on to helping us and they were the friendliest staff ever, offered fresh coffee, even called hertz across the road to have them on standby. They served us so promptly and had the cleanest restroom and Comfy waiting chairs. We now have to pay $405 for a new alternator but they will have it done within two hours and we came unannounced. This place is a joke. Midas will take your money, say they checked your fluids and inspect your vehicle. Well my transmission is being rebuilt because they did not check my fluids or attempt to check and advise me. I told them about the situation and how I wanted the transmission fluid changed along with the filter in the transmission replaced, but they said I didn't need to because it all looked good. Now I am left with a 2800 dollar bill to rebuild my transmission because they didn't fill it being 3/4 of a court low. I called Midas and told them about all this and all they could say was, we will get back to you and I never received a call back. I called them to Atleast give them a chance to make good and they pretty much laughed and said there is nothing they could do. This is not a place of integrity and they could care less about the locals. They get a lot of business from Ft Irwin, I feel the only reason they are still in business. So they are ripping off our troops! Sad! read more

Marti helped us call around for rentals, but too bad we couldn't find any that was available. So we had to spend a night at Barstow. These people go out of their way to help. We had to find a rim for a car and they when everywhere at all the junkyards and finally found one for us. The Van had a faulty service for the lights and it made the battery go dead because the lights were on and I couldn't turn them off when I lock the car. They were even kind enough to pick up the car from where it was stranded. They always give us water to drink when we get there. They are very friendly people. They even let us know of future problems to work on for next year. Every year I get the vehicles checked by them to keep them running. These are old vehicles. I don't want to get another vehicle because all these vehicles are paid off so they work very hard to keep them running. They were also impressed with my son because he gives lots of good information about details of the vehicles. They also do not over price the job and they work with me so that way it's not too expensive. I even get cards in the mail appreciating my visit which is so sweet. read more

The team at Midas saved our vacation!! We were on our way to Vegas when the check engine light came on. I looked up auto repair shops on yelp and decided to call Midas for help. Although the situation was alittle stressful because i was thinking of worse case scenarios and how this might ruin our vacation due to major car problems... the guys were able to figure out the problem in less than 30 minutes and sent us on our way with a cheap fix of only $20. Actually no stars. Made an appointment and arrived early but they were pushed back and they didn't know when they would get to it. I am from out of town so rides elsewhere are not possible. Asked to run to a meeting and come back and was told I could. When I returned I was told so sorry but they couldn't fit me in. No phone call, just a no when I arrived. The girl at the front desk had a very smug smile on her face while I was being told no. She hadn't wanted me to be allowed to come back. She got her way. This probably won't impact anything but caring about your customer should matter. Shame on these employees for needing to feel superior to the customer. read more

I wish I could recommend this place, as these folks provide the least expensive auto inspection in town, but without delving into details all I will say is don't go to these crooks! They intentionally don't do a good job so that you will be forced to go back to them for more work. In my case, the "little mistake" they made could've cost me my whole car. Additionally, understand that the parts they use are the lowest quality possible so they make triple the value of the part. It might be standard for a mechanic to mark up parts but holy moly.. Really good people here - honest, fair, and helpful. My foreign luxury car developed a big coolant leak problem when we were just outside Barstow on the way to Vegas. It was about 4pm and they made time to fit me in before the shop closed at 5pm in order to assess the problem (although they were already busy servicing other cars). Arian was super knowledgeable and was able to show me the problem and explain it very clearly. He and his team went out of their way to fix the broken hose and to fix a second leaking coolant hose buried deep within the engine, in each case getting an OEM replacement part from a dealer in Riverside. It took a few days (I got a rental car from the Enterprise next door) but Arian and his team kept me on top of the situation with a phone call each day describing what had been done and what was next. Also, everybody at this Midas (including the front desk ladies and the mechanics) are super nice and friendly. Strong recommend these folks - a great car repair experience! read more

Extremely grateful for the staff at Midas in Barstow. Transmission went out on our way to San Diego. They looked at the car and held on to it as we rented a car and continued on our vacation. Unfortunately we were not able to service the car but they kept it safe until we could get it towed back to our home later in the week. We stopped by the shop on our way from Las Vegas as our check engine light came on. The wait was an hour and we needed to be back on the road and did not have time to wait. They offered to check the oil levels to make sure that we would not have a problem waiting on the oil change until we arrived at our destination. I took one of our vehicles to another auto mechanic place in town based on good reviews and a recommendation from a family member. I had a couple of belts replaced by them that needed replaced and was hearing some grinding noise in the back of the vehicle that they were unfortunately unable to diagnose. To make a long story short, after they replaced the belts, I heard some squealing so I took it back to them to get rid of the noise and when I picked up the vehicle, it was still making the noise. I wasn't too confident in their competence anymore so I decided to just take it to Midas (after very recently taking our other vehicle to get an oil change there and had a great experience!) Midas ended up figuring out the issue with the grinding noise in the back (rotors and pads needed replaced) and they fixed the squealing of the belts (complimentary) and we were able to get our clutch replaced at a cheaper price than the other mechanic in town. In addition, they are very thorough with their inspections and not pushy or guilt you into making you get work done on your car that they find wrong. Our skid plate was falling off our car as we were driving to Las Vegas and we pulled in for help. They fixed the skid plate quickly and we were on the road within a half an hour. They also made recommendations about an oil leak that they found and advised us to get it looked at when we returned home. Very helpful and efficient!!
