BEWARE - If it walks like a duck it's a DUCK.... and trust your instinct because I didn't and I got ripped off big time....:(((( Came here at 8:30am after calling this place and the lady said - "yes bring your car in and we can get it up and ready for your smog check" so I took her word and came to this, off the beaten track place off near the 15 freeway and when I pulled up into the shop, I open the door and the first thing I noticed was the absolute mess of this place and the strong odor of "beer" that smelled like a Smelly bar...And that's where I didn't listen to my instincts...I checked in with a guy name Kyle said "sure let me get it hooked up to the machine to see what needs to be done" about 15 minutes later he told me that it would cost about $355 to change the spark plugs & to get it 100% ready to "pass" for the smog test so "stupid me" said OK let's do it... as I waited in the lobby of this dirty ass place that was littered with beer cans, a battery left in the middle of the floor, empty Coke cans, A dirty mop with some black greasy water, left next to the toilet and outdated magazines from 5 to 10 years ago...I knew I was in BIG trouble...:(((( Finally got my car back at 1:30pm & took it to the smog check and it failed.....Took it back to this place and waited till 430pm and they couldn't rectify the problem, meantime Kyle is long gone and after paying $355 cash, my car is still not smog check ready.... they told me to bring it back next time to take apart the manifold to put a new gasket in to rectify the issue to pass the smog check....F*** YOU....I'm never taking my car back to this place after paying $355 CASH...should of listened to my instincts....my recommendation is DO NOT...I repeat DO NOT bring your car into this place because this place is a SHAM...!!!!! BEWARE and STAY AWAY! This place is dangerous. Everyone here was very friendly, but the state in which they returned my car was dangerous and so I have to leave this review. I brought my car in while I was en route to Nevada and the Low Engine Oil Level light came on in my 2013 Subaru Crosstrek. I asked for an oil change, and while they were doing the oil change, they offered to rotate the tires for free. I didn't have the wheel lock key, so ended up telling them to not worry about it. However, they found a way to remove the wheel locks. The lady who took my payment noted that her husband had wanted to remove my tires to examine my brakes in the hopes that I needed new brakes. Which I didn't, so at least they didn't tell me that I needed new brakes. After the oil change, the Low Engine Oil Level light stayed on, so I figured there was something else that was the issue, so brought my car into the dealership to take a look after driving ~1K miles through NV and CA. The dealership noted that I had NO OIL showing up on my dipstick, and I was lucky that I hadn't done any damage to my car. After the dealership topped off my oil, the light went away. So I wonder ... what in the heck did Lube Express do for my oil change if there was no oil showing up on the dipstick?? Additionally, I just realized that one of the tires was missing the wheel lock and two of the lug nuts!! So that wheel was attached with 2 of 5 lug nuts. SO IN SUMMARY: I went to Lube Express for an oil change. I left WITHOUT oil in my car and with one of my wheels attached with two lug nuts (out of five). Yikes. I will NEVER go here again, and for your safety, much less just not getting ripped off, would recommend that you don't bring your car here either! read more

I could go on and on about this place! The hubby and I were on our way to Vegas when my oil light came on, and I forgot to mention to him I was over due for an oil change. We found this place on google, and was really skeptical because we're so far from home and what we knew about the area! Now I seriously don't wanna take my car anywhere else! The level of service was beyond 5 stars! They took amazing care of my car, and went above the norm when it came to what needed to be done! The owner herself was so great! Professional yet warm and friendly. It was kind of like having your best friend work on your car! Don't bother wasting your money anywhere else! Best bang for your buck in Barstow!!! This review is for the Castrol Lube Express. My husband was supposed to go to Walmart to have an oil change but the wait time is about 2 hrs. so he decided to go to this place instead. He asked how much will it cost for an oil change and they said it's $39.95 (or close to that, not sure of the exact value). He also asked if they could use synthetic oil. They said yes. They asked if they'd want the filter replaced but he said no. They offered to clean it and my husband said ok. When done, the total they charged him was $79.00. Surprised, my husband asked why the bill became that way. They said it's the cost of the labor. WHAT? $39.95 for oil change does not include the labor? How is he supposed to have the oil changed without someone working on it??!! They could have warned my husband that the total cost of oil change would be $79 with labor, but they did not. But then my husband kept his cool and just paid the bill, knowing that if he complains or piss them off, they might do something to his car since it's still there with them. Next day, his car started to have troubles. The engine light is on. Whenever we're on a stop sign, the engine would stall/stop. He had to leave his work for a day to get the car fixed as it was dangerous to be driving that car. He was already thinking this oil change may have something to do with it since this problem started the day after he had an oil change. True enough, when the mechanic came out, he explained that something was disconnected (I'm not sure of the exact term). My husband then asked if it's somewhat related to the oil change. The man said you disconnect this tubing once you take out the oil filter to replace or clean it. The tubing may not have been returned when it was disconnected. So there...$79 + loss of day's work + $75 repair was the total cost to have an oil change here. Be warned! read more

I really like this place. It's a mom & pop place so I really like being able to support a local business. They have a comfortable waiting room with a little play area for kids. It's fast. Only things I don't like: They're always trying to get you to pay for some other service that you "need". Also, they're not open on Sundays. The best thing: Walmart's service center won't even look at my air filter because it takes a little doing and if any job takes longer than a specified amount of time, they won't do it. Lube Express always checks my air filter. They're a nice group of people. Go there. read more

I am disabled and the help they gave me was excellent. I was in and out in under 20 minutes. The employees were fast with diagnosing my problem and fixing my automobile. The advice and service was good for the work i needed . The waiting area had a movie on. In fact i was upset because the work was faster and i didnt get to finish the movie...lol.. I will never take car here again!!! I suggest noone should either I took car. Asking to track down a issue with a code I keep getting they said sure it sounds like electrical. When they started work. Car sat for 1 1hr all they did was hook it up to coder and take tranny fluid out. Then said. They can't figure it out. Still wanted to take full cash from me. Where to start... This last experience is enough to stop me from any return visits. On a weekend, I discovered that my tire was flat and had been punctured by a screw. It slowly leaked the air so that I found the flat tire while I was in my garage. No problem; I have a full-sized spare that I'll replace it with and have the flat tire repaired. When I tried to remove the lug nuts, all were really tightly secured. I was able to remove two without an air compressor but the third lug nut and stud broke off of the wheel cylinder. Great! now, I have a real issue. Strangely enough, these wheels had been placed onto the vehicle by Lube Express a few months ago after a tire rotation. AND, this was the second incident in which a wheel stud had broken. The first one happened when they were removing the wheel to rotate them. I took the vehicle to Lube Express to repair the stud. I was initially told that the stud repair was complicated because my vehicle's structure presented challenges. The repair would be more than an hour because disassembly of the wheel was required. I was fine with leaving the vehicle because the repair was not optional. I could not risk driving around on only 4 studs on that wheel. I told them to do what they had to do and left. I returned hours later to receive my vehicle. I was told that the wheel was repaired and I paid my bill. I left with my vehicle and drove to a car wash. Along the way, I heard a sound resembling metal on metal banging or clanking. The sound was only present when driving over bumpy or uneven surfaces. The sound was coming from the same wheel that had just been repaired. I continued to the car was noticed that the underside of my vehicle was discolored. It looked as if something had been pressed against the bottom of the vehicle near the lift points. I returned with the vehicle to Lube Express. The noise from the wheel were still present. I told the technician that there was a rattling, clanking sound when I drove. They lifted the vehicle with me observing. The wheel, while lifted, was shaken by hand and visually inspected by the tech. He pointed out what had been disassembled. He said that he did not see anything loose and that it was making any noise now. I agreed that no sound was heard now but indicated that the car also was not being driven, it was suspended in the air. He was stressed that if there was a noise, it was not from anything that they had done during the repair. He explained that he didn't know what the sound could be and maybe it was the transmission that I heard. Problem is, the sound was coming from my rear wheel on a front-wheel drive vehicle. I left from Lube Express because I did not have time to leave the vehicle for troubleshooting. The technician didn't seem to want to troubleshoot it anyway since no noise had been heard while on the lift. I drove for a few more days and the clanking noise remained. I shook/bounced the frame of the vehicle in my driveway and heard the sound. I pinpointed it to the rear wheel that had been repaired. I took the car back to Lube Express and bounced the car so that the tech could hear the sound. He asked if this was the same issue as before. I said yes, it was never resolved from before. He said that it would be $40 to lift and troubleshoot. I told him to do it. They lifted the vehicle, same as before. He looked for loose connections and could not find any. He shook the shock and heard a noise. He said that the shock had probably wore out and needed to be replaced. Replacing the shock would cost $200. The car was lowered. I saw that the lift did not have any rubber attachments on the arms and concluded that the discoloration that I saw was from the metal on frame pressure when they lift vehicles. I took the vehicle to Casey's Auto Service in Barstow. I bounced the car and demonstrated the noise for the technician. He walked into the pit under the car and saw that a bolt on the arm/frame was shifting while I bounced the car. The noise was from a loose bolt attaching the wheel to the car. He tried to tighten the bolt be could not because he said that it had been cross-threaded when been tightened by Lube Express. He said that it would have to be removed and replaced. I left the car and received a phone call within 30 min from the technician at Casey's location. The car was repaired. The bolt, although cross-threaded, was also missing a washer. Casey's replaced the washer and tightened the bolt; the sound was eliminated. Nothing was wrong with the shock. Even before, I would not have taken my vehicle to Lube Express for any major repair. But, this experience demonstrated a lack of willingness to help, a reluctance to take responsibility, and an absence of professionalism. I will not return and support their business for anything, even something as simple as an oil change. read more

We were on our way home from a 3800 mile trip and oil maintenance light came on, we found them with Safari. They are located right off I-15 South. Their reviews could have been better, but I found the service fast and friendly , they carried synthetic oil so that was a plus. I would use them again. read more

Very unprofessional. Called at 7:30am to confirm I would be bringing my car in for an oil change, and was assured that the mechanic would be in by 8 am. I arrived at 8 and then waited over 45 minutes until he finally arrived, but which time I was getting back in my car to drive away with no apologies from them. Drove down the street to Jiffy Lube and was helped immediately for much cheaper and way quicker. read more

As of today 7-22-15 i was highly pleased and impressed with the service at lube express. Service was speedy, staff was friendly and especially helpful, management (Frank) did an EXCELLENT job on informing me about my vehicle and explaning what service was performed on my vehicle. I had to buy a new car because they ruined my old one. I took it in for a basic tune up and timing belt change. They ruined the engine, and I didn't have my car for two weeks. When I got it back, it leaked fluid all over my driveway. We had another mechanic look it over and found missing bolts and clamps, loose bolts and clamps, and a bent pulley. After we had that fixed, it ran for another couple of months and started making an awful squealing sound. When our mechanic looked at it again, he found more bolts missing from the power steering unit and the alternator. This person took away my peace of mind. I couldn't continue to drive that car, so we bought a new one. My plan had been to drive that car for another two years. My current mechanic told me that he regularly fixes problems caused by this establishment. They are a menace. read more

If I could give this place a negative 10 I would Just got my car done 4 weeks ago !!!! After I left with my car it started to make a loud noise !!! I paid them 670 dollars to replace everything new !!!! And when i took it back they said sorry ur car was not even touched . So they tried fixing it again , and I picked it up and the noise is still there with another problem added !!!! So if they don't fix what they started n what I payed for I'm going to be very upset !!!! They need to stick to there word n if they want there business open to fix our cars right!!! I took to Toyota dealer ship to get a second opinion n they told me car is squeaky because they didn't put something back on my car that was needed ! Do not go by the prior poor reviews of this place. People at this workshop are very friendly and knowledgeable. I had fumes coming under my hood on my way back from Las Vegas and brought my car to this place as it was the nearest open place at 5:45pm. Kyle and another guy checked my car for the real problem. They were methodical in finding the problem, checked the engine and fluids. Everything looked normal. They found that my transmission oil had laked on to the exhaust pipe and caused fumes. They showed me the leak and prepared an estimate for resealing the pan. This all happened well beyond working hours. I had to stay the night at Barstow but they delivered the very next day as promised. Well before noon they had the leak fixed and I was on my way home. The person fixing the car with Kyle was also helpful and checked all fluids to make sure I did not loose much from the leak the night prior. The lady at the reception was also very helpful and charming. Cannot give a higher rating that 5, if I could, I would. PS - if you are in the area, go for the donuts in the nearby shop. Would give zero if I could. I came here very shortly after purchasing a vehicle. Asked them if they could do a full inspection, an oil change, and fix quite a few things wrong with the car that we already knew of. When I picked the car up and paid my $855 Bill, the car wouldn't shift out of park, and my Windows wouldn't row up or down. They stated it was like that when I left it, however it lost certainly was not. The driver and passenger Windows were down, because at one point, they had put them down. I demanded that they fix the car to where it left as it came. They fixed the shifter, but said they could not figure out why my Windows didn't work. They didn't "have the right tools". So... I was forced to take it straight from them to the Ford dealer... Now it's gonna cost me another $335 to fix a short that the Ford dealer says the other shop couldn't have broke. BS. I bet they are working together. For $855 a car better leave in the shape it comes at the expense of the other mechanics. Do not take your car here unless you wanna leave with more problems than what you came with. read more

had items missing from my car after i took it to lube express in barstow for an oil change. the employees will tell you what is wrong with your car and there is no pressure but there is a thief there. the manager/owner did not try to replace stolen items. i would not return to the business and would recommend others remove all personal belongings from car, trunk, glove box, etc before leaving your car and keys. read more
