Came for a smog said would be done fast. Said to call when done. I called after an hour and a half and the tech said it was done. I get there 20 min later and the desk guy lies and says it just got off thats why they didnt call. -2 stars for lying. If they werent local i would probably not come back again. edit they took the registration paperwork and i called to see if they could find it. they didnt start looking till i showed up inperson. im never coming back unless i dont have a choice. read more

Sam is a person whose yes means yes, and will no when it's no. He is one whose word can be trusted. His work is excellent, though I'm not a mechanic so you can challenge whether I know anything. I do know that over time he shows a commitment to honesty, service, and effective work that inspires trust. I doubt you can do better driving 30 minutes away- if you live in Helendale. read more

Last year we had service on our vehicle done at Route 66 Auto Repair. Issam was very helpful, knowledgeable and professional. They did a complicated repair in a timely manner at a fair price. Sam contacted us several times to make sure we were happy with our vehicle repair. The car have been running great. This year we returned for a smog test. Once again they were very efficient and the service was at a fair price. We plan on getting any future repairs done here. We highly recommend the business. read more

Great attention and service. Wonderful local automotive shop that can provide assistance with SMOG CHECKS to major engine diagnosis and repair. We take all 3 of our vehicles to Sam and his team. read more

I have been here countless times, take both my Honda Pilot and Subaru WRX here. Looks like the previous bad reviews are from the owners previous to Sam. Sam has gone out of his way numerous times to help me to his fullest. My Honda pilot couldn't pass smog due to some exhaust errors from the previous owner, got a quote for $2000 from a shop in Victorville saying they needed to replace the whole exhaust system. Sam spent an extra day really figuring out what was wrong and fixed the issue (only a sensor the other shop missed) for $300. Don't let the past owners reviews stray you away from one of the best mechanic shops in the high desert. Won't take my cars to anyone else! read more

Amazing service and great price. Sam was very nice. Extremely timely service, did a diagnostic and a smog check within a few hours.

Already referred a couple of my friends to this shop. Great customer service and great work. Will definitely be returning.

Sam sold my son and I a 2015 Kia Rio that he had for sale. Him and his crew got the car in great and safe condition. We are happy with the transaction and the value we received at Route 66 Auto Repair. read more

They fixed my car brakes and headlight. Great service and a highly recommendes local shop. Look forward to using them again for my car repair needs. read more

Sam and his crew saved me big $$$ over the dealers shop. Quality of work was just as good, if not better. Their service exceeded my expectations. The supply chain is dysfunctional right now, and they spent a lot of time tracking down the right part and getting my rig back on the road as soon as possible. Plus they offer a shuttle to and from. Very nice as we have only the one car. read more

Update- this review was for former owners. It is under new management. Icannot base my review on actual work performed. I can give you my reasons for two stars. And, that is generous.. went to get a ballpark idea of cost for car repair. Jesse was too lazy to provide an estimate outside of paying $90 for an estimate. I asked what replacement of a timing chain may run (provided no engine damage present) and the best he could do was say "I'm not a human computer. I don't know how many hours of labor it would be." Well, how about you look it up? No one wants to have a disabled car towed for $100 then pay $90 for the consultation if the range of repair costs are unknown. I mean, is it a magnitude of $200? $1000? This dude was condescending and clearly didn't care to get my business. read more

Had a flat repair and plugged the tire. Leaked ever since they repaired it for 2 months!! Took car back to Route 66 they said it was leaking from the valve stem and charged us $30.00. Jj tires in Victorville found the tire was leaking from Route 66 plug they broke the tire down repaired the plug from the inside of the tire in 10 minutes and charged us 15 dollars!!!! Great service! Route 66 sucks!!!!! read more

I was just starting a cross country trip when the air conditioning compressor in my van came apart 12 miles from Helendale. Route 66 Auto Repair was local. Sam the owner went far above and beyond. His team did a same day fix at a reasonable price, extraordinary as I had no other option. What he did next - my phone was on the fritz and he couldn't reach me. By the time I'd realized and saw messages, they were closed. I left frantic messages as this was a Friday and couldn't wait until Monday. He got back in touch through a friend and arranged an after hours pickup. Who does that? I'm a USAF veteran and he exemplified the core values I learned: Integrity First, Service Before Self and Excellence in all. Big Hug to You, Sam! read more

This location is a hidden gem within the Silverlakes/ Helendale area. Within a recent first time visit, my check engine light came on and I did not feel comfortable driving it to a repair shop. I had always seen Route 66 Auto Repair, but was unsure of the turnaround for repairs (since we live in a remote area). I must saw that the representatives at the location were wonderful and had my car up and running within the same day! Their customer service was so stellar that they actually came to my home to check my car to run a diagnostics before taking it to the shop. I have never experienced this type of support and I wanted to truly express my appreciation - thank you for the wonderful job! read more

Do not do any transmission work here! They put in an Accord transmission instead of the Honda Odyssey transmission it needed and not even a month and a half later I need an all new transmission! And on top of that they have damaged more of my vehicle while working on it! Don't do any major work here...im not sure if they are qualified for any transmission work read more

Very pushy boss. They won't run the computer to diagnose unless you fork over $95. Went to autozone they did it free.

Here's a BIG Five Star Shout Out to Rick and his crew at Route 66 Auto Center. Brought my Caddy in with a number of problems including non functioning cooling fans needed to pass smog, and a vipers nest of wiring problems due to shoddy repair work done elsewhere. It takes an ACE mechanic to sort through the mistakes of others, and yet these guys took care of everything, and at a more than reasonable price. I'm glad to live close by, but I'd drive a hundred miles to get my kicks at ROUTE 66! read more

Great service and understanding affordable help. Kept me from spending hundreds more at a dealership.

Rip off mechanic will break things in your engine so you have to return every month or so to get repairs. Brought my truck in for a simple plastic valve and the mechanic took my truck 50 miles to Barstow to go to the dentist wtf? Then a bunch of stuff starts to go wrong with my truck with 35k miles on it? Don't trust these people. read more

Marlene and Sam are my saviors-when I thought I was at a loss because I couldn't locate my wedding band they went above and beyond and found it in my car it had slipped through my console and into the side of the carpet under my seat crazy I knew it had to be in my console somewhere they never gave up she knew it was somewhere in the car- Sam and Marlene are the best thank you from the bottom of my heart! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I brought my vehicle here to try and get a quote, however Jessie and the other guy working this place are very rude. No good customer service what so ever. They were eating pizza and talking on their cell phones in front of customers, go else where if you want good service. read more

I thought I had found an honest garage and a young mechanic was always nice when I went in. I had A/C work done, a new in-tank fuel pump installed but I was told there are two fuel pumps, one is inline on the frame and it looked new and the man I bought my truck from said they put a new one in. Well knowing garages, I took a black felt pen and made a mark on the inline fuel pump. When the garage called and told me it was all ready and running good ready to pick up, I went and paid the bill and drove it home, crawled under it and saw the black line I had made on the inline fuel pump, the one they charged me $200.00 to replace. I called them and said I would be there in about ten minutes to get a refund for the fuel pump they never changed. They tried to make excuses and I told them they might as well hold a gun on me and took $200.00 from my wallet. The owner refunded my card and I left. I almost called the Bureau of Automotive Affairs but didn't. They all wear shirts with Certified Mechanics and so on and have it on their sign well they may be but when it comes to honesty they have no guilt taking your cash for work not done. I wonder how much I was taken for on the other work? They lost money cheating me though, I was going to have shocks put on my Ford Focus and other work. read more

Great local honest auto repair. Thanks to Chris and Donna for getting me up and going and keeping me out of the poor house.

Unfortunately I trusted a friend that recommended their services but at the time I didn't know they were family. I had several things that needed repair one of them being my timing belt which I have nothing bad to say about that however when it came to the radiator and sensors that's a completely different story. I was overcharged for a radiator that did not fit so when Rick placed the radiator shroud he forced it and with time it broke and caused an even bigger problem. The sensor (which they charged me nearly $200) for they never even replaced and my car still has the check engine light on and nothing but lies about "I ordered but they haven't delived, my card was stolen, can you send me the VIN to order the part" (months later in that order). Haven't been able to do the smog. The price was based on the fact they had to come to my home and even when I paid up front now Rick or his wife Sol don't want to return my calls. They could return my money and that would be great but its been nearly a year of their lies now, I have to go through legal way of getting my money back. In short STAY AWAY! read more

Lost a/c in travel across the desert. Was able to get right in and Rick diagnosed my problem, made the fix and I was on my way within an hour. read more

We recently brought in a vehicle to have fluids topped off after a long drive. They claimed we needed some major work done on our vehicle as soon as possible. Well not only to they do a terrible job with some worthless parts but they damaged some other parts of the engine in the process. This has been hands down the worst auto repair shop that I have been to. They won't honor their own warranty or refund my money! read more

Always fixed correctly the first time. Good customer service. Reasonably priced. Short wait for appointment s.

Took my daughters car in as it was blowing lukewarm in the middle of summer. Not good for out here. The first shop put freon in for $176.00 and when it was not working the next day blew her off. So, we knew we were going to have some major repair bills. They had her a/c running the day we took it in and charged her a fair price. May not be the most personable guys but this is the second car we have taken in to them with great results. I trust them and that is what is important. read more

These are the nicest, most honest business people I've ever met! The fact that they own this auto repair shop is a godsend because they are bottom line - highly competent and truthful in every way. I give them the highest recommendation possible - wish it could be TEN stars! You will NEVER go wrong with Route 66 Auto Repair! read more

This repair shop was purchased from Chris and is being run by Jessie and Frank. They are extremely honest and straightforward and I trust them because of all the work they have done on both of my vehicles. These guys are very personable and do everything they can to benefit their customers. I wouldn't take my vehicles to any other shop! I highly recommend doing business with them. The estimates that they have given me for repair jobs has always been accurate and at times, the bill comes in under what the estimate was in the beginning. The bill has never come in higher . You can tell that they want to stay in the community long-term because of their entire approach to business. They are also excellent in indicating what really needs to be fixed immediately, versus what can wait for a given period of time depending on what it is that's wrong with the vehicle. From what I was told, the owner of Route 66 also owns Sid's Auto, which is located in Victorville on Highway 18, not far past where the I-15 intersects with Route 18 going east. I've gone to Sid's for years when my vehicles have required smog checks. They too have been great to deal with and are very good with customer service. I have full confidence in Route 66 Auto Repair! They easily deserve five stars. read more
