If I could give this negative stars I would! I am a small business owner so I FULLY understand how negative reviews can ruin a business; I have never written a negative review, until now. We have used this company for YEARS, the technicians that come out are always lovely! I've gotten to know our 'regular' technicians to the point where they know our kiddos and pets, and I love catching up w/my fave technician and hearing about his kiddos, dogs, etc. SO- here's why we're pulling our business after 10+ years of loyal service, it's all because of one person, yes, literally! Jane, the lady who calls to schedule each visit is a NIGHTMARE to deal with. If you need consistency in your life, you'll find it with Jane- you can bet it all on the fact that Jane's attitude will be as miserable yesterday as it is today and so on. Every 3 months Jane calls to schedule our service, if I don't answer when she calls, she hangs up and IMMEDIATELY calls again. I work and have a whole family with kids I'm looking after, so sometimes scheduling a quarterly service isn't top priority. Rather than just leaving a message, you get bombarded with calls, but don't worry, rather than PARTNERING WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS to work something out, Jane schedules ppl to show up unannounced. In 10+ years we have had this happen several times. Despite my husband calling and requesting they never show up in our backyard unannounced again bc I was napping with our two toddlers. I have had it! I have put up with Jane for YEARS, until about half an hour ago when I was scheduling our next treatment and to RENEW our annual contract- Jane went into a full on menthol light meltdown when I acknowledged I was reaching out to schedule our quarterly service (that we'd already paid for months ago) that was a little past due. She was chomping at the bit to pull out all her facts that she had someone come out here already bc that's what was scheduled, I explained no I didn't schedule that, they showed up unannounced, only did outside and left. She was ready to fight telling me it was my fault etc, then I lost my temper. It's been over 10 years building and I am having a day. Even when I blew up I STILL didn't put it on her I go "I AM HAVING AN EFFING DAY, I've got BOTH KIDS HOME SICK, work is blowing up, can you LAY OFF". THEN SHE DECIDES to pull the whole ma'am do not use profanity with me. LADY, WE HAVE BEEN HARASSED BY YOU FOR YEARS. I HAVE BEEN NICE FOR YEARS and turned the other cheek! We have only been a customer for 1 year, but were referred by family who have been customers for decades. We received a mole treatment and signed up for a fire ant warranty, which is good for 1 year. This all began April 21 last year, so I have in my phone that our warranty for ants expires April 21. This morning, April 1, I received an invoice from them for another year of fire ant treatment and it says due today. I called and said I did not request a renewal yet but would like to schedule one more service before our warranty expires (3 more weeks). The lady who answers the phones put me on hold to speak with the manager for a few minutes. I was then told their system automatically bills on the 1st of each month and that is how it's done, so even though I have 3 weeks left on the warranty I paid for they will not schedule another service unless I renew today. So they are shorting me 3 weeks because this is how their software does it. This is stealing and extortion. they have been a staple of this community for decades and this is how they want to go out? I could not be more disappointed with the complete waste of money their services were. I work in the industry and have renovated several homes. I paid over $300 and they caught absolutely nothing. I was more than capable to do the job plus some for the service I received. Representatives were very nice and professional, but it was the fastest $300 I've ever lost with absolutely nothing to show for it. Not only that, but for who knows how many days I went in the attic to see the lazy reps went right up the ladder and put the cage directly to the left of it, when the hole to the house was no where near that. They extended it for me as a courtesy, but caught nothing. They tried absolutely nothing different other than moving the trap - did not add another trap or anything worth paying for - simply put food in a trap in a cage and left there and checked each day. I would be embarrassed to take someone's hard earned money with nothing to show, but they are happy to do that. I will never work with them and likely the industry again. Save the money, buy multiple traps and if you want the job done right, do it yourself. read more

When I first moved to Texas, I had a run in with a wild beast. A six legged land creature with the body of a Chevy and an evil eye to boot. I said "ROACH!!!" at the top of my lungs and my husband said, "Oh, that's a water bug!" I grew up in NY. I know what a roach looks like. Call it what you will. Maybe "Water Bug" is easier than "Roach" when it's 4 inches long. And flies. So, since living here I have paid good money to have these creatures out of my home. We pay to have our home sprayed about every 3 months. Orkin had been doing the job for awhile, but they didn't call when they were coming and our fence was locked...anyway. We decided to go with Mid-Cities since they were a smaller company and came on the recommendation of a friend and Angies List. After our first treatment we were told there's a period of time, about 2 weeks, where the barrier needs to do it's job so we may see some bugs still. Ok. After 3 weeks we called and said we were still seeing a lot of "activity". They said it's still building a barrier. 4 weeks. They said they'd come back and spray again. And knock down the wasp nests that had formed since they sprayed. And the mud-dobber nests. Three times they came out after the first treatment to spray. It never got better. After our second treatment we decided we had to do something. In between caring for our newborn we found a few minutes to call the company and my husband told them we weren't happy with the service, that it hadn't worked and we wanted a refund and to cancel our service. They said fine, someone would call us back. No one did. Two weeks later we called again and they apologized for the lack of response. They said they were sending a refund. Nice! When we got the refund, it was for $129. We had paid over $400. They only refunded us the amount for the services they HADN'T done yet! I told them that we were looking to be refunded for the service we paid for already but didn't see any results from. They told us they were being more than fair by letting us out of our contract. I would like to disagree. They may as well have sprayed our home with water. That's how well it worked. They had always been so nice when we called, but apparently that's the extent of the customer service. The customer is NOT always right. I get that. But to charge for something we didn't ever really see? I don't get it. read more

Mark identified an undiagnosed problem with acrobat ants and treated them. In the end it was Eric who solved the problem of unwanted bugs completely when a recluse spider appeared in my home, retreated my home and put my mind at rest. Office staff great too. read more

We've used Mid Cities for quarterly treatments for five years and haven't had any issues. One of our bedrooms had bed bugs and we called them-they quoted us over the phone and we had an inspector come out. The inspector told us he couldn't see anything but in the one bedroom, and even that was a very light case (like a few). He said before he left, to not worry this wasn't a big deal. My wife and I were comforted by what he said. He did tell us that the quote was wrong and that it would be several hundred more. My wife said she would call the office on Monday. On Monday the front office said the inspector said there was a horrible infestation of bugs. When the inspector pulled back something he found hundreds of bugs. Funny thing- the inspector didn't even pull anything back. And only saw 4 dead bugs on a picture frame. He was deceptive. We called another company out and cancelled our quarterly treatments. read more
