I go to Micro Center often for electronic gadgetry. There are just some things, like cables, that you need right away and don't want to order. Further, Micro center generally keeps a big inventory and their prices are competitive. They tell you on the website if the item is in stock at your local store. I have never returned anything, so I Don't know if that is a hassle. I have bought a laptop, desktop and a monitor here and all of them were great. Also, they have SD cards by the registers , at a good price. I got good customer service when I bought the laptop, just showed them which one I wanted a d they got it for me. Being a computer nerd in this day and age is not as bad as it was 30 years ago. Back then, being tech savy is usually associated with wearing coke-bottled glasses, pocket protectors and buying stuff at computer shows (remember those). Nowadays, being tech savy is still associated with glasses but with cool frames, pocket smartphones and shopping at Microcenter. This Microcenter location may not be as big as their other superstores but it's very convenient if you live in the area. Some of their sales staff are hip looking geeks (in a good way) and one guy looks like Shaq. They're friendly and not pushy in trying to sell you something when you're just asking questions. If you want free stuff (don't mean a five finger discount), get on their mailing list for free memory cards or sticks coupons. I'm giving their Flushing store four yelp stars for their products (Winbook surveillance DVR and cameras) and service (human and online). read more

Although I no longer reside in Queens... I remember having to make that dreaded trek out to Long Island to get what I needed -- but this new location in Queens, is definitely a lot more convenient for all, not to mention that there is a huge parking lot for those of us who drive. As for the size, it's pretty comparable to the one in Long Island. The one issue that I came across with the Micro Center in Long Island was that a lot of the things were unorganized (wrong price tags/wrong shelves with different items) and things were quite often "Out of Stock" -- but I did not come across this issue here. This store is definitely a great addition to Queens and by far, cheaper and a better value than Best Buy or P.C. Richards. read more

I went there at the beginning of the pandemic and felt safe in the store. I recently went there and didn't feel this way anymore. Saw kids in the store with their masks pulled down. The checkout line was long and people were packed close together without 6 feet apart. One time the guy in front of me had his nose out and his hand repeatedly touched his nose, then he touched the merchandise along the check out line, picked them up and put them back. Excellent selection of PC and Mac hardware and peripherals. But the shining star is the selection of parts. If you want to build your own machine, and you are nervous about ordering parts off the internet, come here. You will most likely find other things that the internet didn't mwntion, as well as a better price and easier return policy. On top of that, the techs are very helpful and friendly with questions, no matter your level of comfort with computer building. They can handle overclocking questions as well as questions about motherboard preference without making you feel stupid or that you don't belong. The place is great. After speaking with the management of the store, who were aplogetic and offered to help in the future, I'm upgrading my review. Still a little irked, but I can go back to almost loving this store again. Just wish that when pointing out stock status, on the website to an employee, they would have tried to make things better with a comparable motherboard at a similar price. When the Apple phone tech could not help, he advised me to go to Micro Center to have them take a look at it. I took my iMac in and paid $40 for a diagnostic test. The service center guy said they would run a diagnostic test, and see how much it would be to get the data. I was curious, and asked what the worst case scenario might be. He said worst case, it would be a total hard drive failure, and the hard drive would the be sent to a special data recovery lab. A few days later I got a call that my hard drive did in fact fail. But lucky me - it was a full failure. He said they would need to send it to the special data recovery lab. The service STARTS at $700. That's right... $700. And it would only go up from there! They assured that the actual price would be determined by the recovery lab, depending on the complexity of the problem. I would have final say if I wanted to proceed with that service, after the lab's assessment. My instincts told me to request for my iMac back. I know data recovery can be that expensive, but I was skeptical that my hard drive had a "total hard drive failure"... that too after a simple attempt at an OS update. I am aware mechanical hard drive issues can accrue over time and result in a failing hard drive. However, I still found it hard to believe my issue was as severe as people who have lost their hard drives in fires, floods, etc. I turned to trusty Yelp, and looked up "Data Recovery" in NYC. I eventually pulled the trigger with New York Computer Help. I am a Do-it-Yourself techie, and am comfortable around computers and disassembly and installations. I researched on YouTube how to take out my hard drive out of the bulky iMac, and delivered it to New York Computer Help in midtown. They said they'd let me know in an hour about the scope of the work after running a free diagnostic test. New York Computer Help said they have different prices based on how complex the problem is - with Tier 1 being the lowest, to Tier 4 being the most expensive. After an hour they said I had a Tier 1 hard drive failure, and I got 100% of my data back for ONLY $150 plus tax. I supplied my own external hard drive for them, otherwise they will sell you one for $80 to transfer your data onto. I did have to make a few trips to New York Computer Help (first to deliver my failed hard drive, second to deliver the external hard drive so they could transfer my data, and third to pick it all up). I CANNOT recommend Micro Center as a service center for your Apple or Mac products. I am glad I am tech-savvy AND have good instincts. Otherwise I would have been out of more than $700. I also called Apple to officially voice my concerns, because I only went to Micro Center upon Apple's recommendation. I can only imagine how many people think, "you know, Apple recommended them, and if they say I need to shell out $700 - then so be it." I don't know how Micro Center runs their diagnostic tests, or whether some technician/worker was lazy in their job - but ultimately their recommendation was financially irresponsible, and inaccurate. New York Computer Help said I only had one bad sector, and although the hard drive was failing, it was still accessible and more than salvageable. I hope this review helps other Mac users. Do your research, shop around, and don't take anyone's word as the be-all-end-all just because they wear a uniform and have a name-tag (or even Apple's backing!) The only reason the Service Center received a star is because they were timely, prompt, courteous, and polite at every step of the process. But those qualities do not equate to the customer's best interests... at least not in my case. FYI: I installed an SSD to replace my failed hard drive, and my iMac is now blazing fast. STORE/PRODUCT: 3 STARS It looks like an outdated B&H Photo (of course B&H is very much THE be-all-end-all of electronics stores lol). The employees in the store were pretty lackluster. I've been to this store a good few times and have ALWAYS had to break up a bunch of employees yakking away, so I could have their attention in helping me (especially in the Apple section). In all of my visits to the store, I was never once approached to be helped. I always had to hunt for someone to help me out. Once I got someone, they were helpful. Product selection seem plenty, a good selection and variety. Just know exactly what you want before you go to the store (again, RESEARCH), so you can ask the employees to help you locate items. At last an I.T. Store and more. I gave up on Micro Center a few years back. The Westbury Store was only a place to shop if you were desperate. The staff never got a single one of my orders right. It got to a point that I avoided the place altogether. Not so in Flushing. This is a top notch staff. They care about what they do. Jonathan, Steve, Tamara keep that floor moving. Tom and Adam run a fine crew. Everything I need when I need it and brought to me correct the first time. Great Service, what you need, excellent selection......Nuff Said. I give this place one star because I have to one because of the size and one for the selection of products went in there with the intentions of asking some questions and coming back within a week and spending like between 100 and 200 dollars give or take on two items. There were more employees than customers but they were busy talking to each other. After looking around for over 15 minutes and no one asking if I needed some assistance I left. Daniel found an ingenious way to get that file back, and showed me how to repeat in the future so I never have to go through the terror of thinking months and months of work have been suddenly lost! George at the help desk was very helpful ,informative and honest with the diagnosis of my Mac book issues , However the sales associate didn't provide any assistance and literally walked by my and continued to chat amongst themselves while other customers and I needed assistance. I had Micro Center build a PC for me to my specs right after the New Year. I had built my previous PC 8 years ago and now that it was time for a new one, I didnt feel like doing it myself again. Eye sight isn't what it used to be. I researched online before hand what I wanted in it, did the compatibility checks and then reserved all the parts on their site. I've shopped at Micro Center many times since they opened. It is really conveniently located to where I live, and they have an awesome selection of items, at very reasonable prices. With that being said, I've had two issues with the customer service here. The first time, I just considered it to be what it is, and didn't give it much thought. Most recently, last night, I came in looking to purchase a G Technology 1TB USB-C external hard drive. I walked over to the external hard drive section, and noticed that they had a very similar item made by LaCie Porsche, so I asked the associate about the differences. I had done a lot of research about the G Technology one, and began asking the associate the differences in the two. He really didn't have the correct information, but tried feeding me information that I already knew wasn't true based on my research. Thats fine, I didn't mind, I am an educated consumer, and so his advice didn't really affect my purchase. After deciding that the G Technology one was the right one, I asked the associate if they price match--knowing they advertise a 100% price match guarantee. He replied, yes, if we can find it online, they will price match--so I showed him the item on apple.com for 89.00 which was 40.00 less than micro center was selling it for at 119.00. He said to me, yes, we can price match, follow me, and he brought me over to the manager to whom the associate said, "Can we price match this, its advertised at apple for 89.00. The manager and another associate turned around to the computer behind the desk and began looking for the item online.... With that, he turned back around to me and said, verbatim... "B&H has is for 109.99, thats as low as we will go, we won't match apple, because they're a direct retailer... do you still want it?" So, I ask you: -How does this constitute a price match guarantee? -How is any electronic store, including apple or micro center NOT a "direct retailer"? Had this been an actual apple brand item, I could better understand their position... but this is a third party item, that be it apple, Best Buy, B&H, or Micro Center, they should honestly all, honor a price match guarantee, unless their policy states otherwise, which is not the case here. What really prompted me to write this review, was Micro Centers willingness to allow a customer to walk out the door, after I blatantly replied to the manager "I'd rather save the money and just go to apple", when he asked "do I still want it". In the age of amazon prime, and endless online retailers, customer service is the key to keeping brick and mortar stores well and thriving, its clear that Micro Center has missed the mark, I wish them luck, but I will NOT be shopping here anymore. read more

Glad they opened this one, now I dont have to drive all the way to Long Island to go to the one in Westbury. I can walk to this one from my house. They gave out free 16gb flash drives to their previous customers. Check your email if you have ever ordered anything before. You will get a voucher for a free one and you can go pick it up at the store. While we were there they also gave us a free microcenter mug. Free parking in the lot. The store is decently sized with a good selection. The prices are the same as other Microcenters. read more

I go to micro centers in the west coast so hearing that a micro center opened in New York near by me, I was excited as hell. But what is with the people who work there? They were sighing, raising their brows, very rude behaviors. There was only one person that seemed to enjoy what she was doing while the rest were just rude and pushy and gave off some really off putting vibes. I mean, I bought my stuff, but the experience was just terrible. I don't know if it's because it's New York or it's because I'm so used to better and nicer workers. I was very pleased to see them open up in my neighborhood, but then I went into to buy an ink cartridge on a Saturday early evening, and waited on line for nearly TWO HOURS. If I'd been running low on link, I would have ordered it on line, but when you have a print job in progress, you can't leave it hanging for days. So I waited. And waited. And waited. Then I reached a register and found that their card reader had a problem with my debit card, and they were all set to let me leave empty handed after all that time, rather than just enter my card number manually. And when when I pointed out how long I'd waited, the manager told me the line, the line I'd just been on, wasn't as long as I knew it was. It's a shame, because the location is convenient for me. It's a block from my home, but I'll go to the Staples in Rego Park, rather then be treated in that way. read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE My friend came here to get his Mac fixed because the hard drive had problems. The associate had no customer service at all!!! In fact, he gave him attitude and when he had to pay snatched his credit card right out of his hand! Talk about disrespectful, then they gave him a hard time when they called him. Then when he had to pick it up it took 2 hours!!! Why? Because the one and only person that can fix it was unreachable. Now 3-5 days later after having picked it up, he found out that his Wi-Fi wouldn't connect so when he came back AGAIN he found out that the technician that was fixing it FORGOT TO CONNECT THE WI-FI CABLE BACK how the freak do you forget to do that!?! Then after picking it up and turning it on what do you know? There was an error on the screen, the screen got fuzzy and he had to go back for a THIRD TIME! I've been a customer of Microcenter for several years. This was my first time visiting the Flushing location, and I am so disappointed that I ever went there. I loved purchasing computer parts from Microcenter because of their two year warranty program, and typically all returns are honored and a gift card for your purchase is furnished for your defective items. However, I went into the Flushing location to return a defective item and was told that my warranty didn't work and that i would need to leave my item for 24-48 hours for them to review/repair my item. I was scrutinized and asked several times what was wrong with my device, to the point where they made me feel like I was trying to get over on them. I've have spent thousands of dollars in this store and always recommends to friends and family, however, today I felt embarrassed when i had to walk out of the store with my broken item and no resolution. Thankfully, not all Microcenters are built the same! I drove an additional 20-30 minutes to the Westbury location and returned my warrantied item with zero difficulties. I even soent an additional $1300 on a new part for my computer. I believe that the associates at the Flushing location judged me from the moment I walked through the door. My claims weren't even listened to, and they lied to my face about the warranty replacement program. I am extremely disappointed with the level of service i received, and i will make sure that everyone i know does not visit this location! read more

With a new MacBookPro's insanely rapid touch an onslaught or iTunes sessions interrupted normal typing and Siri kept elbowing its way into the action. Apple support chat wasted a good hour, an Apple expert shared the screen and suggested major surgery to find a possible flaw from an uploaded Time Machine backup. Came into Flushing's Micro Center and within minutes an expert indicated that it's the new model's rapid response and one simply has to be more careful when touching the keys. How right he was! Not the stores fault but it seems this particular store was left out by corporate hq for the Ryzen 3000 launch. I was very excited to get there before opening. Waited for over half an hour only to find out that they did not even have any Ryzen 9 3900X in stock. They also did not have any X570 mITX motherboards. I went home empty handed. I later discovered that other microcenters had both the cpus and motherboards available. I guess the Flushing store is the red headed step child of microcenter. read more

I always thought Micro Center was like another Best Buy but I was wrong; Micro Center offers much more products than Best Buy does and is the perfect place for buying random electronic things (I really don't know the correct vocab for these stuff). Prices are competitive and the store was very nicely organized, making everything very easy to find despite a huge store. Staff located around the store also took the initiative to approach customers and were happy to answer any questions. My only complaint was the employee at check out. She said all of 2 phrases to me - $32.98 and your email? Way to leave a lasting impression on the store. read more
