I tried Michi's original fried rice stuffed wing with boiled egg and avocado. The boiled egg, avocado and salad were fresh, tasted normally good. The meat and skin of the wing was crispy and juicy. The fried rice was a bit too moist for my taste, and there're green peas in the fried rice which I don't like. But it's just my personal preference. Overall, it was pretty good. My partner and I came here for a quick weekday dinner as we were both starving and we couldn't hold up much longer. Thankfully, service was very quick to seat us and take our order. The food came out pretty quickly too, and we were very thankful lol. We ordered 2 stuffed chicken wings to try/share - the corn cheese one, and the cumin lamb rice one. It is a very interesting concept of stuffed chicken, and I am not sure I would re-order this again. I liked my cumin lamb rice one, but I wish there was more cumin and lamb flavour, and less rice. Went here on a whim after leaving a restaurant we ended up not wanting to eat at lol. It was a pleasant and delicious surprise! I got the cheesy corn stuffed wing and the dry noodle (I chose instant noodles) with tomato beef brisket stew. My partner got the cumin fried rice stuffed chicken wing and the rice was really mushy so I'm glad I got the cheesy corn. The cheesy corn was just filled with corn. Although the corn texture still wasn't the best, it was better than the rice. The stuffed chicken wing honestly wasn't my thing. I wanted to taste more chicken and it was really messy to eat. I really appreciated the staff accommodating my family and niece when we came in. It was a kind gesture to change the playlist to a kids one (we didnt ask they did it!) and I was really grateful for it. Michi was previously popularly known for its stuffed chicken wings. The stuffed chicken wings were good and interesting. It didn't feel like much meat so to speak but also I get that it's stuffed so it was pretty filling. We ordered the devils bowl (bbq pork and eggs on rice) and the beef noodles. The rice bowl was satisfying and the noodles were a bit of a pass in our opinion. I've never had stuffed chicken wings before so this was an experience! You can choose to have your chicken wing stuffed with fried rice or glutinous rice and it comes with a sauce to match the flavour you choose. The chicken wing came out looking much bigger and tastier than usual. The meat was moist and I'd definitely get it again but they are pricy at $5+ each. The curry omurice was okay. They get 2 stars instead of 1 for their good service and clean restaurant. The big letdown is the food. big time. We ordered: 1. house special iced milk tea - this is totally a gimmick. for $6 you get a regular sized portion of normal HK style milk tea, served with milk-tea ice cubes, one of which shaped like a bear. The drink itself is average at best, slightly below-average. do not order this. 1.5/5 2. double Stuffed wing combo - the stuffed wings are a gimmick too. All the chicken meat somehow disappeared and its basically chicken skin wrapped around mediocre fried rice. We got the curry crab stick and cumin lamb versions. Funny, they tasted basically the same. And again, no chicken meat to be found, just skin. And its just reheated. They have piles of trays of these premade in the back; you can see it from the dining area. The combo also comes with salad (spring mix with generic sesame dressing) and niblet corn (cold, likely frozen previously, shrunken and flavorless, just gross). 1/5 3. Omelette rice with tomato beef stew. I had high hopes for this. But this was also a let down. The beef stew was ok, beef chunks were tender but the sauce was bland. The dish is kind of a variation on the typical HK cafe tomato beef rice dish but this just lacked any depth of flavour. The omelette was overcooked, period. Nobody likes rubbery egg omelette. And the most offensive thing was the rice underneath. How hard is it to serve a portion of fresh hot white rice? Instead, we get an excessive found of packed, dry, and hard white rice. As if it was a bowl of rice left out to dry and then they inverted it onto a plate, then microwaved it. Rice this bad shouldnt ever be served, let alone charged for. 1.5/5 4. Yogurt lychee soda - basically soda water + canned lychee flavour + yakult. Something like that. And watered-down. Doesnt taste great, but not offensive. 2/5. My friend and I came for an early dinner on Tuesday around 5:30. It's a small restaurant with 4-5 tables, and we were the only ones dining in for a while. We shared a couple items: Original stuffed chicken wing ($6.90) - they had a couple of stuffed wing flavors, but we opted for the original. They are quite pricey, so I'm glad we shared one. The original was pretty good, and the sticky rice inside had a slightly sweet peanut flavor. Aburi pork rib ($9) - my least favorite dish from the whole meal. The pork was tender but not flavorful enough, especially on the inside. They use some kind of sweet marinade for the outside flavoring that I found too sweet. Tomato beef omelette rice ($16) - hands down my favorite part of the whole meal. The beef was tender and the tomato sauce on the side went SO well with the egg and the fried rice. Second time coming here and I forgot how much they stuff the chicken wing. I remember seeing photos of this place the first time I came here and first thought was like "How?!?! How do you magically fit fried rice into this thing?!?!" Somehow, they figured it out. The sticky rice included sausage and egg inside the wing and I'm like okay sure, you are telling me you can stuff a whole boiled egg into the chicken wing along with a piece of sausage and sticky rice?! GTFO out of here! When they brought the utensils and napkin and disposable gloves, I was quickly reminded how hot the wing would be to hold. Definitely recommend either letting it cool down or wrap the end your holding with the lettuce piece. Definitely took a while to lift it up and I eventually made my giant first bite. Lo and behold, I ate into the sausage, sticky rice, and holy crap... I tasted and felt an egg! May not have been a chicken egg (maybe a quail egg?), but it tasted like an egg still. Quite good, worth the price? I don't know. But I did come back here to do it again so maybe? One was good enough to make a good snack or appetizer. The reason we came here was for the wings. You gotta admit, they're Insta-worthy. But I was sad to come to realization that looks were all they had going for them. Rather dry, under seasoned. The saving grace, however, was the omelette rice! If I came back, it would be for the tornado omelette on rice with either the curry or the tomato sauce! Very tasty and highly recommend. A pretty small restaurant on Kingsway and Boundary but has some interesting dishes! The milk tea bear was super cute but the milk tea flavor wasn't very strong. Had to try their michi stuffed wings since they're their speciality. I got combo d which comes with two, a salad, corn, and soft drink. I tried the spicy wing which was stuffed with rice and the cheese corn wing which was stuffed with corn. They're super filling! Okay. Starting off with the Omelette Rice w Curry Chicken. The first bite seemed a bit ~ehh. I guess I was expecting some explosion but as I ate a few more bites, mmm they're good it wasn't too spicy which I liked so I was able to enjoy about half the dish before having to stop it tastes as expected, curry flavoured but it was very creamy, chicken were nicely cooked and the egg omelette was Also - shoutout to the staff who told me I wouldn't taste the onions - and I really didn't! I dipped some hot sauce and it was a bit too much for me but I kept going back for more cause it was good The teddy bear milk tea it did felt a bit anticlimactic after I poured the milk tea into the ice (took a video which will be shown later on!). Since the tea was hot, I had to wait a bit for it to cool down in the ice before I could drink (otherwise it would be this awkward lukewarm temp ). We paid our first visit here with the thought that this is a sushi joint because the name "Michi" is so Japanese... it actually pronounced from a Mandarin word meaning sticky rice stuffed wings 雞米翅. You know how I like to take pictures but this time I didn't cause I was too busy stuffing my face. They provide gloves for the wings so I didn't bother taking them off. I would say that another signature dish of theirs are the michi stuffed chicken wings. Here are my thoughts. [Items Tried] *Must Try* Squid Ink Spaghetti on Seafood White Sauce - $12.69 (4/5) Taste: I rarely come across squid ink noodles and when I do, it's quite pricy. I was happily surprised that these noodles were quite al dente, flavourful, and the sauce was the perfect amount to enhance but not overpower the flavour of the noodles. Be careful when you eat this though as it will make your mouth black and inky! The prawns accompanied with the noodles were average and lacked freshness. Portion Size: Good portion size for 1 person. Green Sauce Pasta (with Lemongrass Chicken) - $12.69 (4/5) Taste: The pesto noodles were delicious as well, accompanied with chicken that tasted like it was made with asian flavours (more of a soya sauce based chicken). The chef does a good job with not making the noodles too saucy. Portion Size: Good portion size for 1 person. There are many attractive items on the menu, and we really enjoyed the Omelette Rice with Tomato Beef Stew.It may look simple, but it is hard to master. A plate of white rice is wrapped in a silky, perfectly cooked egg omelette. It is then covered with the tomato beef stew. Small bites of beef is very tender and soft. The stew and the softly-cooked omelette complements each other very well. I think the price is reasonable with its generous portion. I also tried the new item, Minced Pork Rice. It is a smaller portion, but just perfect for me, especially I was still full from my late lunch! You can choose how your egg is cooked, but I think sunny-side up egg is the way to go. Mixing the egg yolk with the rice is my type of comfort food. This rice bowl is covered with minced pork, and I highly recommend you to mix it before eating it! So that you can taste bits of everything in one spoon. I found it less salty compared to other version I tried in Taiwanese restaurant, which is perfect for me. Overall Impression Although the menu is limited with food options, I think "quality over quantity". I really enjoy the service and food here, as my go-to spot for my comfort food crave. The portion is quite huge, so getting one dish along with some michi to share might be a good idea. It is not the cheapest place to eat, but the price is reasonable for the portion. So cool lol) Unlike the other review is that I loved both their spaghetti because it is not overcook like most cafe. It is springy and chewy. I loved pesto a lot and they have what i have been looking for!! I've always wanted to try a Stuffed Wings, not sure how they make it but it's very interesting! I got the original fried rice wing, the rice was kinda mediocre. The wing however was pretty big for what it is and the end was quite crispy. They usually cost about $6 per wing, I think the price is pretty steep but I was pleasantly surprised that they gave some sweet oranges on the side. Had Michi today. I was satisfied with the wings: it was dry rubbed and baked after being stuffed. It came quick as they probably stuffed earlier and prepared. Only constructive feedbacks are if they had some dipping sauces to complement the wings like ponzu based sauce, spicy sauce, balsamic vinaigrette based sauce, or samosa sauce. Because the skin is fatty, I wish there are some complimentary side dishes to balance the heaviness, such as pickled veggies or refreshing soup. Try looking up the recipe for cold seaweed soup. They have salad, but salads are often boring - I would consider something else in the menu if they had one. Unlike the other review, I did not find the wings spicy at all. Price for Michi is fair as $30+tax for 6 fat michis. Could do better though, I highly recommend the management to include some dipping sauce, and add-on items to balance heaviness for up-sell. This restaurant has a misleading menu and the staff were offensive when responding to questions. We ordered the stuffed chicken wings with kimchi fried rice. There was no kimchi in the fried rice and the chicken wing was overly spiced. My dining partner and I and burning lips and tongues and were clearly struggling to eat the chicken wings. The staff saw but did not inquire about how the food tasted. I ordered the "squid ink pasta" which was not squid ink pasta. This was regular, undercooked pasta that was served black, with a cream sauce around it. As I mixed the pasta, I saw that it was loosing colour and asked the waiter about the pasta. The waiter responded asking if I knew what squid ink pasta was and whether or not I've had it previously (I have had squid ink pasta at Ask for Luigi's and Di Beppe). His tone implied that I knew nothing about pasta. He then re-stated that it was squid ink pasta and left it at that. I was expecting a mediocre meal even when I walked into the restaurant.
